The accommodation was exactly as described, and the room was large and had plenty of storage. The apartment is situated on a quiet street and is within 30 minutes walk to the train station, about 5 minutes to the bus stop. Emanuela was a wonderful host, she made me feel very welcome and was very helpful in giving me information about the local area and places that would be interesting for me to visit and where to find the local bars, supermarkets etc. that I needed during my stay. I felt like part of the family during my stay, and the house was always kept clean. I was given space in the pantry and refrigerator for my groceries. I had the apartment to myself for most of the day as both Emanuela and her roommate work full time. I would thoroughly recommend a stay in Modena with Emanuela if you are interested in staying somewhere less tourist oriented but still close to amenities. I was able to commute from there to Bologna, Parma and other cities in the Emilia Romagna region via train and bus without any difficulty. Modena city is beautiful, there are lots of interesting historical buildings and churches, museums and lots of parks and gardens. It has an excellent marketplace in the centre of town for all the produce, meats, cheese, bread, and other food items you would desire. There is a monthly antiques market and also a weekly market in NoviPark on a Monday which has lots of clothing, homewares etc at bargain prices. In Modena you will find authentic balsamic vinegar, parmegiana reggiano, proscuitto crudo, tigelle, and tortellini which are just some of the region's specialty products. You will have very few tourists to worry about, the roads are wide except for the innermost part of town and easy to navigate. You can visit local vineyards and see first hand how balsamic vinegar and parmesan cheese is made at local producers with Modena.
