Thank you for taking the time to write us with your feedback. We value your input and will learn from it.
Our replies below:
WHAT YOU SEE IN PICS IS NOT WHAT YOU GET.
We think this statement is true but potentially misleading. We are frequently upgrading features and changing the theme in rooms. For example, we upgraded all shower fixtures to frameless glass doors which is not reflected in the pictures. We added foosball and air-hockey tables to the game-room area which are not in the pictures. We added a JUGS combination pitching machine to the batting cage which is not reflected in the pictures. We also removed certain items because we found that many Guests either weren’t using them or they caused logistical issues when Guests wanted more open space in a room. For example, the Piano was never used [except once when it was damaged by a Guest] and would take several men to move when a Guest wanted the Great room cleared of all furniture. So, we have the piano in storage and bring it in when requested by Guests [mostly for video shoots or movie scenes].
HOUSE IS HUGE AND WAS PLENTY OF ROOM FOR OUR FAMILY OF 12
PICTURES DO NOT ACCURATELY REPRESENT HOW THE HOUSE LOOKS NOW. FURNITURE IS SPARSE AND DOES NOT MATCH WHAT IS IN THE PICTURES. PIANO IS MISSING
There are over 200 pieces of furniture, fixtures and decorative items in the Chateau … so this is a little confusing. It is our design choice not to clutter the space… but even in the piano picture- there is not an abundance of furniture. We are also mindful of the fact that many Guests desire open space for their events- so, again, we don’t want to clutter the rooms which would crowd the Guest’s space and increase the likelihood of items being damaged or broken.
This is accurate and will remain as a design choice. But we do have on site and provide temporary blinds for all Guests upon request. From a privacy standpoint, 95% of the rooms are elevated on the third floor and can not be seen into from street level [or] they are facing the lake.
SINCE HOUSE IS IN THE BACK OF A SUBDIVISION, THERE WAS NO FEELING OF PRIVACY. This is confusing… “because” the Chateau: 1) is in the back of the neighborhood, 2) the rear most property on a dead end street 3) is situated on four acres and 4) has a lake barrier to the rear– we believe [and other Guests have reaffirmed] Chateau Joli provides a comfortable feeling of privacy and tranquility.
SAD TO SEE ALL THE NAIL HOLES WHERE WINDOW TREATMENTS/BLINDS/PICTURES ONCE HUNG.
Agreed. This will be addressed immediately.
NOT ENOUGH FURNITURE IN ANY DEN AREA FOR ALL ADULTS TO SIT AND HAVE CONVERSATION.
We agree with this statement. We will add modular furniture for increased seating capacity in the den area. For background, we replaced the white couch with two mid-century Barcelona chairs because many Guests wanted the couch removed to clear out for more event space. This required several men to move the couch out-and-then-back-in after the event. Still, we agree more chairs should be and will be added to provide more seating options and socializing in the den.
MEDIA ROOM DOES NOT HAVE RECLINERS ON RISERS AS SHOWN IN PICS, INSTEAD ARE JUST CHAIRS ON FLOOR. 52" TV INSTEAD OF HUGE PROJECTOR SCREEN AS SHOWN IN PICS.
This is partially accurate. We removed the risers for two reasons: 1) they weighed 300 lbs each and became a major obstacle when Guests requested that they be moved to open the space up as a dance floor and 2) for the safety of Guests we didn’t want someone leaning back and falling off a recliner on an elevated riser. We will remove the picture of the entertainment room with the risers and brown recliners and keep the updated picture of the room with the oxblood-red, leather Kartell chairs.
We still have the 100” projector screen that has been used for corporate retreats as well as outdoor theater night parties. We just made the projector and screen mobile to allow for different Guest needs. We will need to do a better job of explaining this during the check-in tour.
MASTER BATH IS SHOWN DIFFERENTLY IN 2 PICS.
This is accurate. Of course, the second and most current picture shows some of the upgrades that were completed in the Master bathroom including two new storm grey vessel sinks and two waterfall spout, oil rubbed single handle faucets. We will remove the old picture.
KITCHEN IS WELL STOCKED.
Thank you. We stock various seasonings, pots, pans, plates and utensils for our Guests.
UPSTAIRS KITCHEN STOVE DOES NOT HEAT PROPERLY.
We have not been able to recreate this problem. The stove is used by professional caterers, so if there is a problem- we want it fixed. We will call an appliance repair technician to come out and look at it.
LOTS OF BROKEN TILES AROUND THE POOL AREA LEAVING SHARP EDGES/POINTS THAT HAD TO BE WATCHED AROUND OUR CHILDREN.
Actually, the old tiles around the spa have been removed because we’re replacing them with mosaic glass tiles… but the work can’t be completed until we have the pool closed for two weeks. So, we’re planning to complete the installation in September. We sanded the edges of the under-pavement but will sand it again to hit the spots we’ve missed…. especially for safety reasons.
WEEDS IS IN ALL FLOWER BEDS AND AROUND THE PLAYGROUND AREA.
This “was” accurate… continuous rain had prevented the Landscapper from treating the subject areas.
IN GENERAL, HOUSE JUST LOOKS MUCH SADDER THAN PICTURES REPRESENT.
We respectfully disagree… especially with the upgrades we continue to make and the voluminous, complimentary feedback we’ve received from other Guests. In fact, with the positive interaction your Family had with our staff during your stay and at check-out… we’re surprised and saddened by the fact we didn’t exceed your expectations. And at the end of the day- that’s our goal with each-and-every Guest… it’s apparent we didn’t achieve that here.
GARAGE IS UNAVAILABLE FOR USE.
This may have been a miscommunication… the garage is available but we encourage Guests to use the port-a-cochere for exit/entrance.
CHARLES WAS VERY RESPONSIVE WHEN WE CALLED ABOUT A COUPLE THINGS.
Thank you. Our service goal is to be responsive… in fact, we continually work to try to anticipate needs so we’re proactive instead of reactive. That said, we realize different Guests have different requirements and as a staff, we want to respond quickly as a standard of Guest care.
DID CATCH 2 6-LB BASS OUT OF THE POND!
And we have the pictures to prove it!! We were going to ask you for approval to post the pictures on our ad… but timing might not be good for that.
GAS GRILLS IN DISREPAIR AND WERE UNUSABLE.
This is accurate. So, last week we ordered a 60” Backyard Pro Grill! With a 60" x 24" footprint, our Guests will have plenty of room to cook hot dogs, hamburgers… steam vegetables… smoke ribs, brisket all at the same time if desired!
PLENTY OF BATHROOMS FOR ALL TO BE HAPPY!
Thank you. We are mindful to keep the bathrooms clean and stocked with toiletries.
OVERALL DON'T FEEL THAT WE GOT A VERY GOOD VALUE FOR OUR MONEY.
As noted before, we’re surprised and saddened by the fact we didn’t meet-much-less exceed your expectations. And at the end of the day- that’s our goal with each-and-every Guest and it’s apparent we didn’t achieve that here. But stay in touch, because we continue to work to improve our service, our ambience and our offerings to make the Guest experience at Chateau Joli one that is highly memorable and sought after.
