Our house is all about relaxing and being comfortable. There is a very big couch in front of the fire for a reason. Kick back and enjoy the view out the big windows.

If you must be energetic, the kitchen is small but well equipped - make your friends sit on the bar stools and out of your way as you get creative. There are more cooking toys in the hall closet above the washer and dryer.

Of course there is wifi, a TV and HBO, but to truly relax we prefer pulling out an actual (physical) game instead...there are many to choose from in the cupboard in the front bedroom. My personal favorite: Apples to Apples!

Most people will come to Tahoe Donner for the outdoors and it is ideal for that - close to mountains, ski hills and trails. Just breath deeply when you step out of your car!

The house is a single family home with a deck in the front and a very large 15 x 15 deck in the back looking out into woods.

The house is in the Tahoe Donner resort, you will have guest cards that give you access to the private Marina at Donner Lake (open in summer), the Cross Country Ski Area (in winter), Stables (in summer), small downhill ski area (in winter) and Trout Creek Recreation which has workout rooms, pools, spas and in winter a sledding area for kids.

There is also The Lodge which is a restaurant and bar, tennis courts and a big clubhouse with kids jungle gyms and things. There are some fees depending on what you do. They are often lower with the guest card. In summer there are kids camps, too!

We aren't local so just text or call if you need anything - also Brown Bear Home Care is our cleaning service and local contact if from some reason you don't reach us.

The ski area is about a mile further down Northwoods...just follow the signs. It is small but has great opportunities for kids who are learning. If you are from Brazil - you might even be able to pick up a lesson in your own language!

Northwoods, Alpine, Boreal, Squaw and Sugar Bowl are all within a half hour - so you won't lack options. For kids there is a sledding hill by the Trout Creek Recreation Area. Cost is minimal. Very fun!

Afterwards, consider stopping by Trout Creek to wind down in one of the hot tubs. It will cost you a per day fee - usually $7 but it is great. There is also a gym, and an outdoor heated pool (even in winter!)

For night life, we love the pub at The Lodge. They also have a regular dining room. All the food is great. And you can even get married there - we did!

There is a Deli for any items you might have forgotten...just drive around Northwoods and you will see them!

In summer, the nature trail by the tennis courts is fun. Dogs are welcome but please clean up after them. It is a busy trail. Emmigrant Trail is also close and fun. We keep several hiking and biking guide books above the fireplace - so you can select the best ones for your levels and interests.

Downtown Truckee is worth a visit - it is full of cute shops and great places to eat and drink...just follow Donner Pass Road, you will find it just past the roundabout.

And don't miss Ace Hardware, open every day, it is a traditional general store with great stuff!

You pretty much need a car unless you are planning to hitchhike down to the bus route. There is a shuttle to some ski areas but it does not come up into Tahoe Donner.

If you come in winter, you will need snow tires, chains or 4-wheel drive.

The driveway is plowed by a service and while we strive to have the walkway clear when you arrive - the weather may not cooperate. I recommend having boots in your car. We also carry scrapers and a small shovel just in case.

Being on Northwoods is awesome because we are on the road to the ski hill we are always the first plowed.

The nearest airport is Reno (45 minutes or so) though some guests come from Sacramento as well.

This is a lovely wooded area and we love to see animals such as deer and raccoons. We hear coyotes all the time at night and we know there are bears. And if you don't feed them - they leave you alone.

Use the locking trash container - leaving any trash out is feeding them.

Hot air rises and our upper room is a loft. For your own comfort you will want to turn off the fireplace well before you go to bed!

If you bring a dog - there is no fence. Keep them on a leash! Or do what we do...when the snow is deep and soft, create a loop for them by stomping a track...if they step off it, they sink! They figure it out quickly!

Snow turns to water winter please take off shoes in the main entryway and use the drip pans for shoes and shovels!

We keep lots of spices - feel free to use them, it keeps them fresh. But if you use up something completely try and replace it or just let me know so I can get more.

Please take your leftovers home or toss them - leaving them in the freezer doesn't count as tossing them!

We love a good party but please be considerate of neighbors and move it inside when it gets late, ok?

If you like your car, don't park on Northwoods - snowplows have no respect for random vehicles.

Put guest cards (2) back on the fridge - they are happy there. If you take them home with you it costs $15 each to get new ones. So please don't!

If you smoke, there is a lovely big deck out back just for you but please pick up your butts...if you don't, we get to pick them up come spring when the snow melts.

We have to have the housekeepers do the laundry and costs add up if they have to do more loads - so please help me keep the fees down, put in a load before you leave to speed up the process (towels are the best to start with because they take the longest to dry).

And last, but not least, we have dogs, we love dogs - but not everyone does so if you walk them; please pick up after them!

I love horses, food, books and (URL HIDDEN) no particular order. I work hard and play hard and enjoy the outdoors most of all! My husband and I ski, hike and share our love of photography...which takes us to some beautiful places, sometimes camping, in cabins, in AirBNB homes or in fabulous hotels. We have a place we share with friends and AirBnB in Truckee, CA so we appreciate how to be respectful of someone's home.
