Enjoy the magic of the redwoods and the beauty of the Russian River in our rustic hilltop cabin. Come for fresh air, comfort, quiet, charm, simple and beautiful design, and river time.
“Camp Noon" was built over 100 years ago. We fell in love at first sight and have spent the last year restoring it to preserve its historic features and renovating for some modern comforts and design. Unlike your typical Russian River getaway, our property is in a clearing so we have lots of sun overhead. We named it Camp Noon to evoke summer days when the sun is high and there's plenty of time. It's a gem!
The cabin is a work in progress, with a blend of new features: a Scandinavian wood burning stove, skylights, Heath tile in the bathroom, modern white walls, brand new beds and bedding, and older features like the raw redwood floors, board and batten paneling, 50s formica countertops and a huge claw foot tub. Please note that the cabin is very old -- single wall construction, gaps in the floorboards -- our guests should expect a rustic experience.
The front room of the house is a large, open space, with cathedral ceilings, and three skylights that illuminate the house during the day and allow for stargazing at night. The wood burning stove warms up the room in the winter time, and you'll find plenty of places to curl up and relax. We have a record player, records, books, and games to keep you entertained.
The cabin has two bedrooms, each one with a new full size bed that sleeps 2. There's room for one more in the living room on the daybed. Each bedroom has soft linens and cozy blankets.
The bathroom has a large beautiful claw foot tub and newly installed Heath tiles.
The kitchen is a wonderful place for everyone to congregate, with three large picture windows that look out onto the redwoods. Enjoy lively meals at the large farm table. We have an electric stove top (the oven doesn't work) and a brand new refrigerator and toaster oven.
The back yard is great for bbque's, with comfy chairs and a hammock. We have fairy lights set up in the back, perfect lighting for an evening outside.
The front porch is the crown jewel. Swing on the hammock, sip morning coffee, read on the couch, and listen to the crickets on summer nights. The porch has a treehouse feel. We also have stacks of fluffy blankets to curl up with if it's cold out.
The cabin is fully stocked with eco-friendly, good-smelling shampoo, soaps, dish soap, hand soap, candles, and bath salts. We love this stuff and if you do too, you'll be happy. We also have toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, spare light bulbs, q-tips, trash bags, and sponges. The bath towels are soft and new and 100% cotton. Same with the sheets on the beds. Please bring your own beach towels.
The Russian River is magical in the fall. The crowds thin and it's very peaceful. The morning fog is fresh and the forest is quiet. The river is still navigable by canoe through October and during the week you might have the whole stretch of it to yourselves. The nights are cooler -- perfect for building a fire in the wood burning stove.
In the winter, the neighborhood is very quiet. If you're seeking solitude in the redwoods, you'll find it here. The forest can be chilly, damp, and foggy but the cabin is equipped to keep you warm: ***WE HAVE HEAT***
-- a brand new, high-efficiency furnace that warms the cabin. The cabin is very old, uninsulated and definitely drafty but we try to provide amenities to keep you cozy. Winter rates are lower because of the cold weather.
The forest air is fresh and rejuvenating, the neighborhood is quiet, and the river is still wild from winter. You probably won't be able to swim in the river until the early summer, but it can still be enjoyed from the shore. vity! You are welcome to eat and drink at The Lodge on the river. The beach! Camp Noon is just a 10 minute drive to Mother's Beach, a bit further to Sunset Beach, and about 20 mins to Steelhead
Disclaimer: The place is a hundred years old and the renovation is still a work-in-progress, so there are still some quirks and rough edges:
There are some areas that the wood of the flooring is thin and worn through, some of the windows stick, and the ceiling in the front room has exposed beams. If things like that sound like "rustic charm," this house is for you, if they sound like offensive hazards, probably not.
Servicios y zonas comunes
This is important: Access to the cabin is down a narrow road that's often one-lane, sometimes steep, and dark at night. We do not recommend coming into Summerhome Park with a suburban or equally large vehicle. If you are intimidated by windy country roads, this cabin is not for you. Our parking spot fits two very small cars closely or one bigger car. Parking in the neighborhood is tight in the summer. Please let us know ahead of time if you will need to park two medium to big cars and we can arrange a second spot.
Atención a los huéspedes
We are based in San Francisco but will be available by phone, text, or email if you have any concerns or questions. We want our guests to be happy!
Otros aspectos destacables
***Please bring your own firewood, kindling and newspaper to get your fire going. *** You may only burn pre-seasoned hardwood in the stove, unfortunately you can't burn foraged logs and sticks, even though that sounds like it would make sense and be fun.
The beautiful Turkish rugs are family heirlooms and not only are they very dear to us, they are also valuable. Please take very good care of them. If something happened to one of them we would be heartbroken.
We are also happy to accommodate special check-in and check-out times when we can. If you haven't arranged a special check-in or check-out, please stick with the times. We have to charge if you stay late without prior arrangement -- we have to pay the cleaner to wait for you to leave.
Kitchen pantry items we stock: Salt, pepper, coffee filters. Sometimes guests leave behind other spices, cooking oil, sugar, teas, coffee.
We do not have a TV hook up. Cell service can be spotty, depending on your service provider. AT&T works
In the summertime: The private club that owns the beach, the amphitheater, and the lodge in Summerhome Park voted to be exclusive, meaning no vacation renters are allowed to access any of their property. Please do not visit the beach, amphitheater, or lodge during your stay. Thanks for respecting the club's exclusivity!
We love our cabin and want you to make yourself at home and enjoy it! There are some things to be aware of, as the cabin is old and needs extra care and damages happen with great frequency. Please read through all of these. If you break any of these rules or damage the property, we will have to withhold your deposit, even though it feels weird to. We hope you understand!
NEW FOR SUMMER 2017: The private club that owns the beach, the amphitheater, and the lodge in Summerhome Park voted to be exclusive, meaning no vacation renters are allowed to access any of their property. Please do not visit the beach, amphitheater, or lodge during your stay. Thanks for respecting the club's exclusivity!
Please do not move any furniture. A few things have broken this way, the floors get scratched, and it takes time to put it back together again.
If you break something, please let us know as soon as you can. We need to make arrangements to replace, repair, or reorganize.
Please don't burn anything in the wood stove other than the provided seasoned hardwood or seasoned hardwood that you purchase. Starter logs damage the stove and are dangerous. If you use a starter log, we will need to withhold your deposit for the chimney care that's needed when starter logs are burned.
No pets. We love pets but unfortunately one of us has terrible allergies.
No sitting water, foods, lotions, or cleaning agents except very diluted Murphy's on the raw wood floors. The floors are 100 years old and unfinished redwood so they are sensitive.
Please do not flush anything but toilet paper down the toilet. It functions with an old septic tank and can be easily clogged.
Please respect the check-in and check-out time. We are happy to accommodate your schedule when possible, but unless arranged in advance, check out and check in time is strictly as written: 12 noon and 4pm. Late check out charges apply if the cleaner has to wait for you to leave. Sometimes we have repairs scheduled or the cleaner has a very small window to get the place ship shape for the next guest.
Please use just one towel per guest. If you're staying longer than 5 days, we can provide more or allow access to our washer and dryer. We have to pay our cleaner for extra shifts when the laundry exceeds the limits of our washer and dryer.
Very important to turn the heat system to OFF when you leave. If we run out of propane while the heater is on, our new heating system will be permanently damaged. A guest recently left the heat on after checking out and the heat ran for 5 days. Our heating bill that month was $750.
No more than 5 guests on the property at any time.
LASTLY: This is not a party house. We want you to enjoy, sing, dance, eat, drink, and have a wonderful time, but we do not want any destructive or disrespectful behavior. We open our doors to you and ask that you show respect to our very loved space. Thank you!
We are two dear friends, Lauren and Aylin, who bought a cabin together as a testament to our love of the redwoods and our desire to create a beautiful living space together. Fixing up the cabin has been an amazing process for us, and we've invested a ton of energy and time (and sweat and tears and laughs) to create our vision of a relaxing retreat that blends vintage and modern design. We love traveling and visiting special homes and want to offer responsive, intuitive, and warm hospitality to others. We are easy-going and want our guests to have a good time, but we also expect that they respect the cabin and how important it is to us.
