This is a hotel called Gulf Oasis in the Tecom area of Dubai - (not a local resident's personal home). This is a great rate; prices can compare be compared of this "hotel apartment" on another booking site (like Travelocity).
The Gulf Oasis staff (housekeeping, engineering staff, security, and the front desk representatives) are VERY nice. The Gulf Oasis is fond of conserving energy - so the option for new towels, daily, is optional.
WIFI is available. The initial connection took over 30 minutes to connect. (FYI: Dubai has WIFI throughout the entire city.)
There is a slight mildew smell. By the 4th night - we hardly smelled it.
Multiple grocery stores are in the Tecom area, just in case you want to stock up the kitchen. The Tecom area is not tourist friendly. No tourist site is in walking distance, you will need to take advantage of a taxi or the metro. The Dubai Mall/ Buj Khalifah by taxi is approx 30 dirhams (about $8 USD). The Mall of Emirates from the Gulf Oasis will cost approx 14 dirhams.
There is a washing machine but no dryer. Nor is there a local coin laundromat to dry your clothes. Hence, you can press "0" for a wire stand to hang your clothes to dry in the room.
We did not meet Shafgat. We were informed he was the marketing director for the hotel.
The Tecom area has local train, called the Metro. The Tecom Metro stop is "Dubai Internet City". Depending on the night, the last train is 11pm. Ask the metro information booth for assistance, just in case.
