Chef Enrique Cooking Workshop & Lunch - 2 hrs.
Enrique is a member of the growing food movement in Havana that is taking traditional Cuban cuisine to the next level. The workshop consists of making an entire meal (entree, main course, dessert) together with him and his staff that is later enjoyed and eaten as lunch. The participants observe the cooking process as well as help prepare ingredients while Enrique and his staff explain the procedures and philosophy of their cooking. Enrique draws from the traditional food culture of Cuba and then adds some international influences.

In Havana there are many neighborhoods to find lodging, but the Vedado area is our neighborhood of choice because of its tranquil atmosphere, central location, profusion of cultural life, and wide variety of fine casas.

Tourist taxies and collective taxis (1950's American cars used as taxis) are available within a few few blocks.

The casas particulares (private homes) I manage on Airbnb are a select group of properties chosen for their attractiveness, comfort, excellent quality of service, and most importantly, my trusted relationship with the home owners.

The casa owner or a housekeeper are on the premises part time to clean and are also available to make breakfast for guests at an extra cost of $5 CUCs per person. A typical breakfast can include eggs, tropical fruit plate (mango, bananas, papaya, guava, melon), bread & butter, juice, and coffee.

The house has local phone service (your cell will most likely will not work in Cuba). Internet wifi is available at hotels within walking distance.

ABOUT PHILIP
I am an American citizen who resides in Havana with my wife and family. I first came to Cuba in 1999 drawn by the vibrant cultural life and unique lifestyle that exists here. In the ensuing years Havana became my second home and I now live here much of the year.

CUBA TRAVEL CHALLENGES
Cuba is quite unique in many respects and as many people discover; because of a lack of reliable information, travel resources, and basic infrastructure on the Island, travel and travel planning to Cuba can be quite challenging. I help travelers overcome these difficulties.

OUR HOSTING PROGRAM
I am the directer of a Cuba travel services group based in Havana, Cuba (in accordance with Airbnb rules I cannot mention the name on their website). For the past several years, myself along with members of my staff have been hosting travelers providing:
• Pre-trip consulting and planning
• Custom itineraries
• Lodging on Airbnb
• Transportation services
• Personalized tours and activities

To understand the service I offer on Airbnb, here is some background.
An online service like Airbnb relies on good email and internet access. Due to government policies in Cuba, the internet is very costly and difficult to access. For most Cuban home owners, participating in the Airbnb market is out of the question. As a foreigner in Cuba I have adequate internet access and can be effective in connecting travelers with excellent rental properties.

THE HOMES
The casas particulares (private homes/apts) I represent on Airbnb are a select group of properties chosen for their attractiveness, comfort, excellent quality of service, and most importantly, my trusted relationship with the home owners who have authorized me to mange their homes. All are listed here: https://www.airbnb.com/s?host_id=160632
