The room is airy and spacious, about four hundred square feet. The photo shows the screen that separates the guest room from the door to the master bedroom. The day bed, which can be set up as a single or queen sized bed, is sturdy foam and comfortable. Great for groups and curling up with a book or laptop. It is located in the same room as the main bed.

If you are seeking a nice, quiet, cozy place to stay this guest room is ideal for you. My renovated, late 1800's era home is located on the Northside. It is a very easy commute to Downtown, the stadiums, Allegheny General Hospital, and the cultural venues on the Northside.

If you like green space with your trips, my driveway is a container garden all spring, summer, and fall with seats for relaxing. I am across the street from the park, close to the National Aviary and Children's Museum.

Are you looking for a very easy commute to Downtown, the stadiums, or the cultural venues on the Northside? Maybe you don't want any of these things, but would like a nice, quiet, cozy place to stay that is not in a hotel. This guest room is ideal for you.

Please note that the room is located on the third floor.

My guest room is a loft-like space in a renovated historic home. Wifi, access to the kitchen, access to laundry, and parking are available. The guestroom has its own private bath with a claw-foot tub and shower. There is a real, comfortable, full-sized bed, a small seating area, and a view of the park across the street and the Downtown skyline.

Please note that the bedroom is loft-like and has three (not four) walls. There is a screen provided as a fourth wall to assure privacy.

In addition to being an easy walk Downtown, the house is close to many bus lines. It is a 20 minute ride to Oakland or Lawrenceville and about 30-40 minutes to Squirrel Hill and East Liberty. There is great access to outdoor activities such as Three Rivers Park, the Great Allegheny Passage, and kayak rentals. There is a station for Pittsburgh's bike share program two blocks away.

There are no pets in the house. Smoking is permitted outside only.

I am open to whole house rentals, which can accommodate up to 6 adults. The price ranges from $300 - $400 per night based on the number of bedrooms needed.

Guests are welcome to use the kitchen, living room, dining room, and outdoor patio. During the spring, summer, and fall there is a bountiful container garden with many herbs, tomatoes, berries, edible flowers, and other plants to enjoy.

I am happy to suggest places to visit, eat, and explore for anyone who is looking for advice.

There is usually a deadline I am trying to meet, so I probably won't be able to join you.

I try to give guests a lot of privacy. I appreciate if you ask me questions or voice any needs to have so I can help make your visit comfortable.

I moved to this neighborhood more than 10 years ago, and I would not live anywhere else in Pittsburgh! My home is on the perimeter of the Mexican War Streets, a historic neighborhood on the Northside. This area was once an independent city called Allegheny City. It is a diverse, urban neighborhood filled with compelling people, historic buildings and parks, and community gardens. It is home to many cultural institutions, such as The Andy Warhol Museum, the Children's Museum, Mattress Factory, City of Asylum, Artist Images Resource, Manchester Craftsman's Guild, and New Hazlett Theater. The National Aviary, Community College of Allegheny County, Heinz Field, PNC Park, and Stage AE are a 5-20 minute walk away.

You can hear live music most nights at James Street Tavern and the Park House, about a 10 minute walk around the park. There is an excellent farmer's market on Friday's in the park.

You can walk to Downtown in 15-20 minutes, and can access Pittsburgh's riverfront park in 10-15 minutes. It's a perfect place to see our excellent skyline and enjoy a walk, run, cycle, or paddle.

If you are not comfortable in an urban setting or in a diverse neighborhood, please consider another option that is more suitable for you. If you love cities and neighborhoods, please consider staying here! The Northside is a great way to experience Pittsburgh.

It is very simple to get Downtown, Oakland, the Strip, and Lower Lawrenceville by bus. I am less than one block away from bus stops that provide access to Downtown, Lawrenceville, and Oakland.

I am a 10 minute walk from the T, our small light rail system.

Healthy Ride, Pittsburgh's bike share program, has a station on Federal Street and North Avenue, about one block away. If you bring your own bike, we can easily lock it up inside next to mine or outside in the driveway.

There is a bike station for the Pittsburgh bike share program two blocks away on Federal Street.

I come to Pittsburgh frequently for work and love staying in Renee's home - it is so clean, comfortable and convenient and provides a great place to rest/restore between busy days. I feel like I am a local when I stay with her too - which is a great things too. She communicates in a very timely fashion and is very clear and goes the extra mile to make your stay nice. I highly recommend staying with her.

Great shared accommodations! Perfectly located to attend a game at Heinz Field, close to downtown and felt very safe with the alarm system. Wonderful host, accommodating, flexible and kind. The pictures don't show enough of how beautiful the home is. Stayed over New Years and had a fun time. Would stay again!

Our host was out of town during our visit but she made sure we had everything we needed and understood how to enter and exit the property. She did a better job communicating than me.... The location is great - the Pittsburgh Northside community is unique and really worth visiting.

Renee's place is such a great location as it is pretty much in the middle of everything you would want to see when visiting Pittsburgh. The house has such a very unique, interesting personality and character. When Renee greeted us, she was very welcoming and is very knowledgeable with her hometown (anything from things to do to the most hip place to eat) Our room was very clean and well put just as we imagined from her pictures. The beds were very comfortable and provided enough warmth that my group did not have to adjust the thermostat. There is also one thing to keep in mind is that Renee's house is quite tall and therefore there are quite a few flight of stairs to get to your room (top floor) So a heads up for those that might be coming from a 6 hour drive if you were to climb up and down those stairs, stretch first or you may cramp a little haha. Overall my groups trip to Pittsburgh have been a very memorable one and part of it was staying in a beautiful place and meeting Renee. If you enjoy the art museum around her place such as Andy Warhol or Mattress Factory museum, than you would definitely love to explore her house and get to know the history or the abundant collections/displays she has in her house. One could say that her house is an art museum itself! I would highly recommend this place to anyone planning to visit Pittsburgh.

Thanks for your review, Jonathan. You are right, my house is great for exercise if you need a metabolism boost :). I will have to add that to my description.

I work in the arts and tend to seek out arts and culture events as well as historic sites and interesting architecture when I visit new places.

I am happy to provide suggestions for things to do in the Pittsburgh area for all of my guests. I am a bike commuter 80% of the time, and also love to garden. Please share the vegetables, herbs, and fruits that grow in the raised bed garden if you visit.
