This space can accommodate singles, a couple, or small families with the couch and/or air bed in the living room. We personally and professionally travel sometimes, so this is available on a rare schedule.

This is the upper level of a split level raised ranch family home. The air beds and/or couch space can be used in the living room for as many as 5 people, given they know each other and get along. ;)
It's located in lovely Edmonds, Washington, just north of Seattle. Edmonds is "The Friendliest Town on Puget Sound." The property is easily reached and within walking distance of groceries, drug stores, banks, shops, restaurants, and even beaches and ferry and train travel as well as Interstate 5, but is a bit down a quiet neighborhood street. It stays warm in the winter, and cool in the summer, and buffers sounds from the rest of the house and surrounds.

This is my home that I occupy, with numerous homestyle amentities compared to a stale hotel room. Terms for stay including check in and out time, and cancellation policy, are far more flexible than traditional hotels. If you are keen to explore, there are ample books and maps available, as well as an owner with a brain full of ideas and experiences. The key to this lodging opportunity is all the comforts of home with lots of ways to enjoy exploring the Pacific Northwest, at a rate at or below the nightly local hotel rate. Note that as this is a real lived-in home, it comes complete with quirks such as remodeling efforts and yardwork in progress. Please do NOT expect a 5 star hotel in décor or cleanliness. The home is clean and sanitary and, frankly, having lived here for almost 15 years, I think it is highly liveable and adequately stylish and comfortable. ;)

This can vary. One thing to note is that the nature of my work makes immediate contact and response often challenging. I do my best to take frequent breaks (every few hours) to check for urgent communications. I do sometimes travel for work, and usually offer this booking when I am on travel. I may be in a variety of time zones, so please be patient with timing of replies, as needed.
Guests can come and go with little to no interaction if they like. Or, for those more social, family style meals or casual social interaction with me are possible, too. I am an extrovert, so just make it clear if you'd prefer alone time and privacy or social time and interaction.
It really depends on how much is mututally agreed. I've enjoyed meals and wine and evening social time in the backyard with some guests, and barely seen others, based on their level of comfort and interest in interacting. I am a working professional woman with a family, so I don't mind if you like your own space, though I am a huge extrovert and love to meet and get to know new people.
I do also list the downstairs space occasionally on Air BnB, so you may meet others, if desired. Please DO let me know right away if there are any issues with interactions with other guests or occupants.

I do reduce / re-use / recycle - so please separate your refuse and dispose of non-meat/dairy food items in the compost bin. It takes a village to take good care of our beautiful planet! Kitchen garbage is the blue can under the sink; compost is the green bin under the sink; recyclables go into the white can next to the refrigerator. Please use and replace liners to the garbage and recycling bins to keep those clean and not gross.
There is no TV or stereo system upstairs. There is a small stereo next to the couch, on the floor, for radio. Please DO be conscious of the noise volume due to other people living in the house, whether me and my family, or other guests.
Common courtesy. Mutual respect. Privacy desires clearly established between owner and guest upon arrival. Treat my house like your own.
Trash MUST be separated (RECYCLING, GARBAGE, COMPOST). There are separate bins in the space, under the kitchen sink. The outside collection bins are ALSO SEPARATED by RECYCLING, GARBAGE, and YARD WASTE. There is also an outside COMPOST BIN for food waste.
If you choose to remove your own waste, you MUST SEPARATE ACCORDINGLY into the correct OUTSIDE bins. Sorting instructions are included in the black binder front cover on the counter, as well as in the Republic info flyer in the message center by the interior door leading into the garage, AND on the large totes for both RECYCLING and YARD WASTE. Unless you are volunteering to assist us with our yard and garden upkeep during your stay should you have a passion for such, no guest should EVER be placing items in the large green YARD WASTE tote or smaller round black yard waste cans. (empty Jameson bottles are actually NOT YARD WASTE. This has been a problem, shockingly.)
There is ABOLSUTELY NO smoking or tobacco use or drug use including marijuana of ANY KIND on the property. This INCLUDES disposing of your items in our trash containers. (Again, used cigarette butts in an empty glass Coca-Cola bottle are NEITHER YARD WASTE NOR RECYCLING. Again, shockingly, this has actually been a problem. Imagine a first trimester pregnant woman and mother of two tidying up and doing chores, taking out the trash in her spare minutes one afternoon, and discovering this first by the stench.
No smoking or drugs of any kind anywhere on the property, and no smoking fumes to be brought with you on your skin, hair, clothes. Shoes off and tidied in the garage. No smelly foods to be cooked and/or stored in the downstairs space. No dings or stains to be made on FF&E. Keep your space clean & tidy, (including garbage, recycle, compost, dirty laundry, leftover food items, etc.) Hang towels only in the bathroom to dry, on racks, not on furniture or floor. Keep noise that transmits between floors, including talking and stereo, to a reasonable level, conscious of other occupants. Quiet hours 10 pm to 6 am.
Parking spots specified to facilitate all transportation needs (owner will delineate parking location and parameters, such that garage and driveway and street are all fully and readily accessible.) One vehicle per reservation.
Tell me right away if you need something or something is not working. Cleaning supplies are available on the property, and are encouraged to be used, but please put them back in their spots when you finish the task. Kitchen sharing may be possible by arrangement. If you use something up, like beer or wine or other drinks or food, please replenish in kind.
Contact requested for kids and pets, but not necessarily prohibited or outright accepted. Second guest and second vehicle may be permitted at discretion of the owner.
I have various personal items in the space, including family pictures and personal beverage collections from travels in Europe in particular. Please respect these items. They are not for guest consumption.
