HUITZICAL, with its antique "Mosaico"-floors, panoramic windows and a fresh touch of young Mexican art, breathes the charme and style of a typical but modern Yucatan peninsula dwelling, with a fast WIFI connection.
Huitzical means "The hummingbird´s nest" in nahuatl, the Aztec´s language.
It is braced by a lot of green countryside. Now, that there are (still) not many immediate neighbors, you have a pretty nice view over the surrounding flora and fauna. Different species of palm trees and other tropical woods are the habitat of woodpeckers, parrots, chachalacas, drogons, hummingbirds, pygmy owls, blue jays, fly catchers, orioles, nightingales and the crown jewels: The motmot and the toucan, which happens to love the Guarumbo tree, which grows in abundance on and around the property.
Here in Tulum, people from all over the world blend in with the Mayan population and a multi cultural vibe is deeply rooted in the identity of this town an hour and a half south of Cancún.
In fact, the town (it’s not a village anymore) is more exciting than ever. The beach is world-class. The ruins are featured on nearly every guide book-cover on Mexico and the food is as Mexican as you expect. For those who are looking for something different than beach and cenote there are many hidden gems off the beaten path.
