When visitors say they have caught the “Montserrat Bug”, I know exactly what they mean! It happened to me on my first visit in (gulp!) 1978! It is neither a virus nor a cold. It means they are hooked on this beautiful little Island. A number of them purchase their own villas. Other vacationers return and lease private homes year after year. Whatever cure they favour, buying, building or renting, a holiday in Montserrat leaves everyone with many wonderful memories and a desire to come back soon.

Montserrat is special! It is exclusive in its description as “the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean” and its Island people with historical Irish connections and names. When you arrive in Montserrat and pass through immigration, your passport will be stamped with a green shamrock! Montserrat is also unique in that it has been developed since the 1960’s as an Island offering “residential tourism”. Many people from all over the world have found Montserrat and have built or bought villas, spending part or all of the year here. The partial year residents, fondly called “snowbirds”, often allow their luxurious villas to be rented when they are not on Island.

Everywhere you look, the views are spectacular. The lush green mountains and turquoise seas lapping on the sparkling black sand beaches, with the neighbouring islands on the horizon. We cannot forget to mention the famous – or is it infamous – Soufriere Hills Volcano, which came to life in the summer of 1995. While Montserrat has had to deal with this phenomenon of Mother Nature and the southern part of the Island is currently not occupied, there are five thousand people presently living in Montserrat who cannot imagine living anywhere else. Needless to say, the fact that we have a volcano has affected real estate prices and there are a number of desirable properties available at any given time at competitive prices.

Let us rent you your own holiday villa or garden apartment for a vacation you will never forget. All of the villas are completely furnished to high standards with private swimming pools. These luxury homes are located in residential areas with spectacular views of the ocean, the mountains and some even have a view of the volcano – always incredible to see. The grounds of the villas are landscaped with fragrant tropical flowers and trees, caressed by the cooling trade winds. Weekly housekeepers are capable and friendly and 60 stations are available on Cable TV. There are efficient telephone services and internet services if you bring your devices and need to keep in touch back home or at work. We can also arrange car rentals, babysitting services, restaurant reservations and so on, to make your stay a pleasure.

Why holiday in Montserrat? How about the fact that it is a stable British Overseas Territory with a democratically elected government plus a Governor who represents Queen Elizabeth II. Fresh spring water you drink right from the tap. Good roads, beautiful weather, fresh clean air, very little crime, luxuriant landscapes contrasting with the shimmering Caribbean Sea and what Montserrat is celebrated for – friendly people. It’s a place to completely unwind and relax but if you feel energetic, you can always play tennis, scuba dive and snorkel, (Montserrat marine life is exciting and colourful). Hike in the mountains and you might see the rare Montserrat Oriole. Walkers, hashers, bridge players, and ham radio enthusiasts will all feel at home. Then take it easy on your own private verandah, sipping a cool drink, dipping in the pool and watching for the glorious “green flash” at sunset. Create memories for a most memorable holiday.

Should you decide you might like to purchase property, we will be happy to show you what is available. You may wish to buy an existing villa or perhaps a piece of land and build. There are a number of qualified architects on island, as well as competent building contractors, who will create your dream house whether it is a small hideaway or a majestic manor. Purchasing property on Montserrat as a non-national is a straight forward process. The Montserrat government welcomes “expat” investments and it is not complicated to buy property. All transactions for real estate are conducted in US Dollars and you get a Freehold Land Certificate or Title for your property upon closing. Most homes are sold completely furnished and decorated, and you can move in immediately. Congratulations!! You will now own “a piece of the Rock”!
