Hale Ikena Kai is a traditional island home that boasts sweeping views of Waikiki. This neighborly location is up in the heights where you're close to Waikiki and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki!

Aloha! Welcome to Hale Ikena Kai or House with the Ocean View.
We named it this because the main focal point of the home is - the view!

From the kitchen, living room, den and lanai, you have sweeping views of the Ocean and all of Downtown Waikiki. Our home is a duplex with the main view home being upstairs. There are private, separate entrances to the home.

Hale Ikena Kai is the upstairs view home. It is decorated in a light and airy modern island style, incorporating some of the local artists’ work throughout. The master bedroom has a queen bed, large closet, dresser and a window AC unit. The guest bedroom has two twin beds and a closet. There’s also a den that has a full-sized futon that pulls out and sleeps (2). Our home has one bathroom with a shower only. There is no bathtub.

The kitchen has two windows - one overlooking the plumeria tree & one with an ocean view. The kitchen also boasts a brand new stove, fridge and microwave. Sorry, there is no dishwasher but the window over the sink looks out to the blooming plumeria tree!

The best part of Hale Ikena Kai is - you guessed it - the lanai! The views are simply stunning especially early morning and sunset. It has a two comfy padded chairs and a large table for dining with bench and chair seating. (Comfortably fits 8.) This is where you will probably spend most of your time relaxing, reading a book, enjoying a cocktail, or watch Fireworks go off every Friday night at the Hilton Hawaiian!

Also, depending on what time of year you come- there's fresh mango and avocados from the trees in the yard! Though the months often fluctuate, we've found that July, August & into September, they tend to be the most ripe.

We use a Keyless Coded Entry for added security and convenience.

The house has separate entrances for the Main House (Hale Ikena Kai) and a separate lower rental unit. Scott is our friendly full time resident in the lower unit who works in the entertainment industry. He is also our caretaker of the home in the event of emergencies.

Hale Ikena Kai is located just 9 minutes from Waikiki beach (3 miles) up the acclaimed Saint Louis Heights district. It's a friendly, safe neighborhood that offers views of Waikiki Beach & Diamond Head. The perfect place to stay if you want to be near the action but not in the middle of it.

We offer driveway parking for 1 car at the home.

There is also street parking available if you decide to rent a second car and there’s also multiple bus stops nearby - the closest being half a block north on from the home that will take you around the whole island.

Also note, Uber and LYFT is available in Honolulu.

Bruce and Dominique's place is a rare gem. We are locals and had family stay there for a week. They loved it, particularly the yard, hens, view, layout of the house, comfort level, tasteful decoration (no kitschy knick-nacks) and the attentiveness of the owners to issues. The house is cool and airy (during a standard hot week here) and was a welcome retreat from the bustle. Highly recommended.

Bruce and Dominique's place was wonderful! Check in was smooth and they were always prompt and friendly with answers to my questions. We ate a few meals out on the lanai and the view can't be beat. Location is great for driving to Waikiki and near to everything you could need. We'd definitely stay again.

We stayed in Bruce & Dominique's place for almost two weeks. We were there for a conference at the university and had other colleagues join us at the house. It was very comfortable for four people, and super close to our conference site. It was also very easy to access public transit. Driveway parking for our rental car was provided, which was excellent, and it was a quick drive to some amazing and affordable restaurants. This home is in a safe and quiet neighborhood. If you're looking for a spot to enjoy the beauty of Honolulu without the bustle of being right in Waikiki, this is the perfect spot. Bruce and Dominique were super communicative, helpful, and gracious hosts. We would highly recommend their home.

Bruce and Dominique are nice and easy to communicate. The house is good, even though not as new as it looks in the pictures. We love the balcony the most, really spend most time there, watching sunset everyday, the night view of the city down the hill is very beautiful too. As the house is located up the hill, the road to there is steep, you'd better be a good driver to choose this house. It is kind of far from Waikiki, which doesn't bother us. It is near to Diamond Head and H1 highway, which we like. My daughter loves the black hen that lives under the tree pretty much, which is cute. The problem bother us the most is the noises from the cars passing by the windows of the bedrooms in the morning, which are really loud.
