Moment's Peace Farm is a hobby farm with a restored 19th Century barn and extensive fields and woods. We raise free-range eggs, vegetables, and rescue horses. At the Guest House, you are free to come and go as you please, to enjoy the outdoors, theater, museums, and fine dining.

El alojamiento

The Guest House is detached from the main farm house and affords you complete privacy while still being in a farm setting. You have your own private deck and view as well as living room, kitchen, bedroom, and 1-1/2 baths.

The area is an excellent jumping-off place for an unlimited number of activities, from walking and hiking to cycling and canoeing to beach sunning and bathing to visiting all of the shops, museums, antique dealers, restaurants and farm stands in Portland, the Kennebunks, and surrounding areas like Freeport and the White Mountains. We're even an easy train ride from Boston as well as Brunswick.

Come and go as you please, or just stay home and relax in your own little getaway. There are relaxing activities in the Guest House, too, including puzzles, books, and games. Or just relax in one of the chaise lounges in the living room or on the back deck.

Servicios y zonas comunes

Guests have access to the grounds, which include a pleasant stroll down to our private pond where you can relax on the shore under the evergreen trees and listen to the sounds of nature all around you. There is a pool to enjoy (swim at your own risk); the tree house is private; you're welcome to enjoy vegetables from the garden in season - certainly enough to make a good salad if not dinner. Let us know if you'd like to greet the horses and we can give you a few tips about that.

Atención a los huéspedes

We are happy to welcome you to the Guest House with a friendly greeting, and can also provide you with direct access to your accommodation if you'd prefer to come privately or after hours. The Guest House is detached from the main farm house and has its own keyed entry.

Moment's Peace Farm is a working micro farm as well as a residence. We have a restored 19th Century barn and extensive fields and woods, and raise free-range eggs, vegetables, and rescue and board horses. No smoking is allowed anywhere on the property.
We are always happy to help with suggestions, directions, and tips for maximizing your stay in the area, though we are not full-time innkeepers. You'll find a pretty extensive Welcome Book on arrival, but do reach out if you have any additional questions or suggestions to share.
We respectfully request quiet time by 10 p.m. every night.
Events and parties are not allowed; however, we do welcome guests who are attending a nearby wedding who are respectful of our house rules.
Since Moment's Peace Farm is intended to provide a high quality of life to our animal tenants as well as people, we appreciate your care and respect of the animals at all times. Chickens, dogs, horses and abundant wildlife such as deer, hawks, eagles, fox, coyote, fireflies, frogs, peepers and various other critters are free to enjoy a moment's peace as they pass through -- as we hope you do, too.
The pool is available for swimming; swim at your own risk: there is no lifeguard on duty. No running on the pool deck; no diving in the shallow end. The pool is best for swimming -- not the pond. Enjoy the pond as a nice destination for a pleasant stroll, or to relax under the trees with a good book or cup of coffee.
There are extensive additional grounds are available for a stroll, as well, e.g. if you'd like to have a look at the vegetable gardens or walk along the lane. The tree house is private and not available to guests (thank you).
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at any time.
As a general rule, we won't ping you proactively, so that you can enjoy your privacy, but are certainly happy to help with any questions you may have at any time, or if you'd like to say Hello.
Enjoy your stay!

We spent a happy first family vacation with our toddler at Moment's Peace Farm & would recommend it highly. The drive from Portland is a breeze, as are hops to the beach (try Pine Point, Joy & Peter's top recommendation). We started every day with eggs from the neighborly chickens, & enjoyed retrieving them from the nest boxes, & admiring their interesting colored shells & rich yolks. We grocery shopped at the nearby Hannaford and cooked in for every meal in the well appointed kitchen. And the view of the stars from the back deck took me back to childhood. Joy & Peter are stellar communicators, responding quickly & helpfully to all our inquiries, both before & during the trip. We recommend this listing highly to other families.

We had a wonderful and super relaxing time on Moment's Peace Farm! Joy and Peter were kind and helpful hosts. We were able to easily visit Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Freeport, and Portland from the farm, and loved fresh eggs every morning and watching the horses from the deck each night. I'd definitely recommend staying here for anyone looking to relax and decompress!

We had a great stay at Peter and Joy's farm. The garden, the fresh eggs, and all of the resident chickens, horses, dog, and cats were such a treat and a great contrast for the kids and I from our planned city stay in Boston and beach stay in Cape Cod - exactly what we were looking for! Though seemingly far away from it all, it was still a quick and enjoyable ride into Portland and surrounding towns. We took a different route each time and saw so much beautiful Maine scenery. Thanks!

The beautiful landscape and color change we experienced was amazing. It was so nice seeing rescued Floyd and Shadow just outside the window. The fresh free range chickens and their eggs were awsome so our stay on the farm was a nice treat.

This was much better than staying at a hotel. Upon our arrival, we were immediately welcomed, handed farm fresh eggs, and told we were free to help ourselves to anything in the garden. With access to a full kitchen, we were able to make fresh, healthy meals instead of eating junk all weekend. The guest house was very comfortable, equipped with many of the amenities you would find at home. It was quite an experience to step outside at night in the pitch darkness and gaze at the stars, then wake up in the morning to see horses and chickens outside your window. Although we had plans during the days, I would have been happy to just stay at the farm all day, feeding the horses, walking around the grounds, and lounging by the pool.

Thanks, Emily! We appreciate your sharing your experience, as well as your feedback. We've decided to pop back in the AC, and so went ahead and did that today. Some folks want it, and some folks prefer the fresh air instead, but we've opted to go with those who want the AC -- folks can still enjoy the deck and grounds for the country air. Come again sometime; we're certainly happy that you had a great time.
