Please read the following frequently asked questions:
How far is it to the beach, town or groceries: We are located on the first hill from the ocean for the cooler nights, bugfree life and the amazing sunsets and views. There are no nicer villas in Dominical on the beach or within "walkable distance"" even though some people advertise it. We are about 10-15 minutes by car from town, surf, beach and groceries and we like it that way. Its great to go back to the privacy of your villa after a hot day at the beach!
Cash or credit cards: Most of the activities in the area are accept credit cards but usually they have to be paid 1 day before making the trip. Restaurants and shops will take credit cards. Plus we have ATM in town But especially in the high season it can run out of money. Also US$ are accepted everywhere. Do not change at the Airport it is a complete rip off!
Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is highly suggested. Purchase your travel insurance within a week of purchasing your plane flight. We highly recommend that you add, “cancel for any reason” to your policy. Although normal trip cancellation will cover you for illness or injury, or for a travel companions illness, injury or death, it is limited to these. With “cancel for any reason” you will receive a percentage (usually 75%-100%) of all pre-paid costs. With this coverage if something comes up, a wedding, a new job opportunity, injury or illness or other unforeseen reasons, you will be also covered.
How is the weather in the rainy season: Costa Rica has a lot of different climate zones and they are all very different. So it can or almost will rain at Arenal and it can be stormy in the Caribbean and in Dominical we have sunshine. The rainy season in our area usually starts around April and goes until December so pretty much the whole year. It's for us the preferred time of the year with rain starting in the afternoon 3-4 pm which refreshes everything. Next morning sunshine guaranteed! The dry season especially March can be very hot and dry! By the way the internet weather for our area is complete nonsense and has nothing to do with reality on the ground!
How to arrive in Dominical: In general 2 main ways. You rent a car in San Jose and drive down 3 hours. You fly to Quepos with Sansa or Nature Air for about 20min and then rent a car in Quepos. Off cause there are busses taxis and but that's for the more adventure traveler. Most schedules you can find online!
What can I do in the area: Our caretaker can make reservations for tours like zip lining, diving, snorkeling, waterfalls, ... plus he can organize a massage in our Spa or in your room with Yerlin.
Just treat the house as if it would be yours.
