Descripción

Welcome to our Smoky Mountain Den! Hummingbird Holler is a fully furnished private apartment in a beautiful mountain setting. Wildlife is nearby, sometimes just outside the window. You'll enjoy peaceful surroundings & a quaint and comfy getaway here.

Our newly built apartment has all of the comforts of home, including a full size-bed (a double), a kitchen, bathroom, an electric fireplace and a private screened in porch. There is a TV with DVDs to watch, but no cable or local stations are available. Our sleepy neighborhood is nestled in Wears valley. You will be refreshed by our misty mornings and our big starry skies. After a fun day of adventure or a quiet day of rest, you can sit around the outdoor fire pit and listen to the crickets chirp. Smores are encouraged!

We live above you on the second and third levels of the home. The apartment is on the first level. You will have a combo lock for the doors and there is covered parking available. The fire pit is shared with us and possibly other travelers, but the apartment and its screened in space are all yours. There are no crazy elevation changes or steep hills on the drive in. Also, there are no elevation changes on foot to your room (no stairs to negotiate).

We will give you all the privacy you would like, but of course we are available to answer questions, guide your adventures, give driving directions or whatever else you need. We will let you in on some local secrets, including an entrance to Smoky Mountain National Park, shortcuts and fun attractions.

We are right next to Smoky Mountain National Park where you can enjoy hiking, tubing, wildlife, water falls, Cades Cove (historic driving tour) and a picnic. Dollywood and Gatlinburg are only 30 minutes away. Townsend,10 minutes from here, represents "the Peaceful side of the Smokies" and has a great exercise or biking path. Knoxville is an hour away and we can guide you to explore civil war history, music, restaurants, shopping and more.

There is not convenient public transportation nearby. It would be best if you have a rental car.

The nearest airport is in Knoxville and is about a 45 minute drive. We are located near bustling Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge if you are looking for some city action. We are five minutes from the little known North entrance to the Smoky Mountain National Park that brings you to the Metcalf Bottoms picnic area. A "T" at the end of the picnic area will take you to either Gatlinburg, "The Sinks Waterfalls, Cades Cove, or Townsend, TN. Although we don't have cable tv or internet, there is a General Store up the street with free Wi-Fi if you need to check business, ESPN, email or social media.

This is ideal if you want to be within 10 minutes of the National Park without getting clustered up in the main traffic from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge along 441. You can literally avoid all that tourist nonsense and just get in and out of the park, and you're very close to the Cade's Cove Loop, Elkmont, and other central and western areas of the park. The apartment is really awesome! perfect for a couple on a romantic getaway. Bob built the place with his own hands. An experienced engineer, he overbuilt it and it's very solid and feels cozy and safe. I can't say enough of how great it is to avoid the mess of the "main drag" traffic along PF and Gburg. This is very reasonable and ideal for those looking to enjoy the natural beauty of this area.

We had a great stay at Hummingbird Holler! The apartment is very close to the national park, and it's an easy commute to Gatlinburg. The apartment was very clean and cozy, and we had everything we needed to have an awesome weekend trip.

We stayed 3 nights for hiking Mt. LeConte via Boulevard Trail. Jenny and Bob's hand-build home, sturdy as rock, provided a peaceful base for Smokies outings. Apartment is completely private overlooking a flower garden full of butterflies and birds. Device addicts, be warned that there is no cell or Internet coverage. We did not mind the absence.

My husband and I stayed for two nights and had a wonderful time. Everything was very clean and inviting - there were drinks in the fridge, some snacks in the kitchen, and a tray with stuff for s'mores on the counter. The location is awesome. We really were minutes from the Smoky Mountains national forest and a super short drive to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We would definitely recommend Hummingbird Holler to anyone wanting to get away to the mountains for a while.

This place was so cozy. Beautiful tile work and woodwork inside, everything was super clean and comfy. The property itself has beautiful views of the valley and is both secluded and private but still in the heart of Wear's valley and close to everything. If you're looking for a more peaceful and low stress entrance to the Smokys (especially compared to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg...) I would definitely recommend this spot!

We loved our stay at Hummingbird Holler! The apartment is exactly as described, very quiet and has everything we needed for a 3 night stay. Jennifer was flexible with our arrival time, and left a handwritten card for us with instructions, next to fixings for s'mores! She popped her head out as we were unpacking to say hello, and then gave us our privacy. We spent the majority of our time in the park, but felt very comfortable in the early morning and evenings. We made a campfire the last night, and enjoyed the stars and the sounds of the smokies. We would definitely stay here again!

My sister and I were in town for a half marathon and extended stay to enjoy The Great Smokey Mountain National Park and we couldn't have imagined a better place to stay. Not only was the location perfect, in that it was secluded and super close to both our race and the National Park, but also the home itself was so welcoming! There were a few snacks already in the fridge and a little s'mores treat tray and a letter for us when we arrived. The home was clean and well kept and the best part about it was the amazing screened in porch area out back where we spent 90% of our time when we were there. Warm and welcoming hosts, a clean and comfortable home and the best location to the National Park and anything else. This place is the best! Definitely will be booking with them again when we venture down that way. Thank you Jenni and Bob for everything!!

After living 29 years in beautiful south Florida, my husband (Bob) and I have established a new residence in the hills of Tennessee.
Life has a much slower pace. We enjoy sitting on the front porch looking at the beautiful Smoky Mountain range and watching the clouds roll by.
We have settled in the Wears Valley area where our home is peaceful yet in minutes we can engage in the hustle and bustle of Pigeon Forge.
Bob is an engineer and musician who loves to build (he built our home ). I enjoy volunteering, socializing and star gazing.
