Each chalet has en-suite bathroom and a private balcony over looking the Hluhluwe game reserve. This is the only one of its kind being just 150m from the fence line. You can see animals roaming the plains during the day and hear them at night!

El alojamiento

There is a communal lounge, dinning and kitchen area. All this too overlooks the reserve, as well as the outdoor fire pit! The Bungalows are nice, each with their own small bathroom, but remember this is rural Africa. So if you are after modern comforts, this may not be the place for you. They have nice modern beds and linen though. It is more like don't expect things like, strong water pressure and baths, and there is going to be the odd creepy crawly. Please make sure you read all below...

Atención a los huéspedes

This now is very important. Myself Rhys, will not be there as your private host. As mentioned, this property is owned by a local rural community, and is a community project. These people barely have access to cellphones due to the remoteness of the area, never mind the internet. It is for this reason, I have helped them to list their wonderful property. If this is going to be a problem, then please don't book with them. We would rather not get the guests than at a later stage get a bad review because of the confusion. It is an entire Zulu family who run it and they all pitch in when they can. They are friendly and helpful, but also bare in mind they have very little experience hosting. They also speak Zulu as a first language and so English can sometimes be a battle, so keep that in mind.

Otros aspectos destacables

That being said. This also gives you a unique opportunity to not only get out into Africa's wilderness areas, but submerge yourself in African culture, in the truest form. At the same time you will also be helping and empowering an impoverished and very rural community.

The bush is basic, not so cosy. We had to wait 2hours to get the keys. Towels and toilet paper weren't provided and there were noone to ask for and the bin still had rubish from the previous guests. On the other hand, it is good located on top of a hill with amazing views of the Game Reserve in front. But I would have chosen another place to stay in.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft sehr nah am Hluhluwe Gate. Aber Achtung: nicht für 3 Leute buchen, da nur 1 Doppelbett vorhanden ist.

This is a lovely rustic place, off the beaten track and very quiet. The rooms are clean though very basic. The views are lovely and it was nice to watch buffalos and Rhinos grazing peacefully in the dusk light. Bring your own food, drinking water and mosquito nets. Though no mosquitos there a lot of flying bugs in the evening. There is a separate kitchen and communal space with a BBQ area outside. This is a great place for the slightly more adventurous traveller! :)

A great escape if you would like to explore Hluhluwe and Umfolozi, nice and rustic and easy on the pocket for a comfortable bed.

Our stay at the Bush Camp was very enjoyable. The location is amazing! These cabins are perfect for off the beaten path travellers (don't expect anything luxurious). Although we had some trouble at check-in as no one was here to open us, we were in communication with Rhys who was in Johannesburg. While waiting for the staff to arrive, we made a fire (sun was setting), cooked ourselves a braai dinner (there isn't many places to eat around there) and enjoyed the surreal setup, sooooo close to the park fence! Perfect stop before visiting Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park!! It is indeed 300m from the entrance so we were at the gate opening a 06h00.

Simplicity and perfection! Close to the Hluhluwe Memorial Gate, friendly hosts, all the amenities you need. The seclusion makes the stay so much more enjoyable! Would definitely recommend anyone to stay there who isn't after 5 star luxury treatment! What a great weekend it was!!
