El alojamiento

Due to demand, we only respond to fully verified guests who provide a clear profile photo, full name, age, name of current employer and/or school, and descriptive purpose of visit. Thank you for your understanding.

Live in in the heart of Little Tokyo and the Arts District with other international travelers and visitors! Clean, convenient, and inexpensive. You won't find a better deal in LA.

UNFURNISHED dorm room available for minimum four days, long term stays encouraged. You will need to arrange your own bedding. Rooms come with closet and sink only. Fully furnished rooms are also available, please see our other listings.

LENGTH OF STAY - We generally accept reservations of 30 days maximum length. If you wish to reserve for a longer period you may discuss that with the apartment manager after you check in for your initial stay.

ROOM DESCRIPTION: Private rooms are for one individual, have locks on doors, and come with a sink. Kitchen, toilet, shower rooms are shared, and professionally cleaned each day. This is a dorm-style atmosphere with great long-term tenants, international travelers, and a friendly on-site manager. Please bring your own towel. This room is similar to the others I have listed, that's why I am just using the same photo. For views of the premises look at the other properties. Thank you for not requesting additional photos of the rooms.

INTERNET: Free wi-fi is available in the living room and dining area, but due to usage it can be VERY slow. If you rely upon wi-fi for work you should arrange your own wireless modem or you can go to starbucks nearby.

PARKING: Free street parking is available nearby (but it goes quickly), otherwise it is $4.00/day at the meters. Metered spots are enforced from 6 am - 4 pm and they also cost $4.00 per day.

GETTING THERE: From LAX take the FlyAway bus to Union Station, then take the Gold Line to the Little Tokyo stop. The building is two short blocks away.

WEEKEND ARRIVAL: Please keep in mind that if you are arriving on a Saturday or Sunday the manager may not be there in person to let you in, but there is a lockbox from which you retrieve your keys.

CHECKING IN: Check-in is at 3 pm, Check-out is at 11 am. Once your reservation is accepted you will receive a phone number for the on-site manager, Alex (different from the one currently listed). Please contact him immediately to discuss check-in details. Please do not wait until the last minute to call. Thank you!

SECURITY DEPOSIT: Because most of our tenants are long-term guests, our security deposit is the equivalent of one month's rent. The deposit is held by Airbnb through your credit card and they will return it to you after your stay. We have had a couple hundred individual reservations with our building and have only had to make deductions for damages a couple of times. If you are a responsible guest, you should have no worries.

ADDITIONAL GUESTS: Additional guests are not allowed without prior notification and prior permission given by the host. Unless agreed to otherwise, any additional guests who stay past 10 pm will be charged an additional $10 per night. If an additional guest is brought without prior permission and paid for in advance, you may lose your security deposit or have your reservation cancelled. Thank you in advance for not bringing overnight guests without prior permission.

Everything was as described in the listing. No surprises, which is nice. The location was definitely the best part, right next to Little Tokyo, which has tons of great restaurants and lots of things to do. Also, it is very convenient for getting to public transportation. All in all, great stay.

All fine. However sometimes the other housing mates are not very communicative. In a way that's good (no loud and late parties) but sometimes it can be a bit boring.

I stayed in Little Tokyo Dorm for 9 days. My description of the place is as follows: You can see dirty black marks all over the walls. Toilet brushes disgusting, windows unbelievably dirty and dusty and so on. The worst of all was that, it was not easy to breathe conveniently, the air could feel heavy and had a bad smell all over the place specially inside the rooms. I was in shock of so much dirt and uncleanness in a place named dorm and wished had been warned about it by some comments on airbnb. Bita

I stayed at Sogo for a year on and off. You just about get what you pay for and if you're not happy, there'll always be another sucker to take your place. I stayed in room 215 which is bigger than most and has a small annex for the sink, which is nice. The shower and toilet facilities are good and kept clean by Alex the manager who lives next door. The kitchen facilities are alright but if you're staying longer term you'll need to get your own fridge, the fridge in the kitchen is too small for the amount of people living there. There is no dry food storage available so you'll need to store that in your room too. You'll also need your own kitchenware. Likewise, if you plan on staying a while you'll need to arrange your own wifi. The internet provided is like a really slow kick in the face. This is strictly a money-making operation and you'll never meet Jefferson. He had a fake tree put up in the lobby at Christmas and posted signs on the doors to tell everyone about it. The tree was as close as I got to the man. It wasn't much of a tree. My room became infested with bed bugs at one point and I had to sleep in my car. The response was pretty quick but not very comprehensive and when another girl in the building reported bed bugs in her room a few days later, she was accused of lying - despite the bites on her body. Apparently she was late on rent. Go figure. Jefferson only comes out of the woodwork when money or reputation (future money) are on the line so I expect to be called out here for minor transgressions such as going on the roof. I also had guests stay over occasionally. This led to demands for further compensation, despite the steady flow of income I already provided. It's all a bit mean-spirited really. The location is great and the price could be worse. I got stuck and this worked for me up to a point. It could work for you too, just be sure you have an escape route.

Respuesta de Jefferson:
Daniel, for someone who kept requesting to extend their stay with us so many times, I find your review pretty puzzling. If it's as bad as you say it is I don't know why you kept asking to extend, even at the last minute forcing us to rearrange other guests. Yes you did go on the roof and bring unauthorized guests, clearly violating house rules, but I didn't "call you out " on it in my review, so thanks for bringing it up yourself. You and your friends were drinking and making noise on the roof, and that's disrespectful and dangerous. You should be more respectful of house rules in the future. If you don't want to pay the extra guest fee, then just don't bring extra guests. It's rather simple. As for bed bugs, obviously I didn't sprinkle them in your room, you must have brought them in yourself via hygiene, but we still took care of it. I think it's clear to anyone who reads your incongruous review that there are far better guests to have over, and despite the difficulties we had with you as a guest and your disrespectful nature we still accommodated you, but we'll be more scrutinizing next time.

This place is just right for someone who won't be staying in the room much during their stay. It's in a good area with great restaurants and chill bars nearby, but the building itself is really old and feels old. Showers and restrooms are cleaned daily. WiFi is generally unreliable, so I always had to walk to a cafe with free WiFi. I'd recommend SOGO If all you need is a place to sleep.
