The kitchen has a double induction burner. Induction is much quicker and more precise than regular electric. Functions a lot like gas except it is magnetic. Note: it will only heat up when a pan is on the stovetop.
I also have a 5 cu. ft. undercounted refrigerator, toaster, microwave and a countertop convection oven. No freezer but can get ice just up the road.

I use a laundromat nearby where you can drop off and pick up if you have a car. I've also seen listings for services that pick up and drop off though I have yet to use them myself.

For check in you will either check in with me (if I am in town), my property managers or a friend. After that you'll have the studio area all to yourself.

I will be available to answer questions via this website. You can also contact me by email, text or phone for more urgent concerns. In case of emergency you can contact the property managers. AirBnb has there number and I will send it to you once you have checked in.

The main house is rented to long-term tenants. Please be respectful of the common areas such as driveway and keep the noise down. If you are coming during the summer months you will hear neighbors out in their yards. My next door neighbors have two adorable young girls who love to play. My tenants like to have their friends over for dinner parties which are sometimes in the adjacent yard. My neighbor behind the studio is quiet as a mouse. So in other words there is life in the neighborhood. It is pretty quiet most of the time but I cannot predict when others might be having lively company. I haven't heard of any crazy student-type dance parties. 10pm is the general cut off time for above average noise. Mostly it is a non-issue.

A gardener tends to the plants in the patio area every two weeks usually on a Saturday. They should ring the doorbell before entering the studio yard.

I grew up in this little hood. I spent most of my childhood playing in the creek. It is quiet and sleepy. Very safe with friendly neighbors with lots of dogs and cats running around. There is an nice public park down the street with a lovely creek, grassy area, picnic tables and a playground for the kids.

It is like a miniature suburbia in a rural setting. It is on northern most edge of town nestled up against ranch, farm land and beautiful raw California landscape.

Since the drought started we have had more than usual sightings of wildlife in the neighborhood. Mostly raccoons, skunks, a few coyotes and one rattle snake that I have heard of. I have not heard of any injuries. Most of these animals are shy of humans. They don't always run away but they don't tend to approach either. I don't think coyotes are aggressive unless in packs (which I haven't seen). I think they are only in packs after dark, if even). We did have a bear visit the edge of the community in May 2016. There was no aggression and he was relocated far away in the Los Padres Nation Forest. That is the only bear sighting I have ever heard of in Goleta. And I grew up here.

20 minutes to the north you'll find yourself in Solvang or Santa Ynes with plenty of wine tasting and danish pastries to enjoy. 20 minutes up the Chumash Highway (San Marcos Pass) you'll find yourself in the beautiful Los Padres National Forest. And of course, just down the Highway you have all the arts, entertainment and dinning of downtown Santa Barbara and Montecito.

Transportation:
This house in on the border between suburbia and rural land. It is a good idea to have a car. However it is possible to get around with public transport. There is a bus stop at the top of the hill that runs from the Canyon all the way downtown with many stops in between. You can even take a train from downtown Goleta to downtown Santa Barbara a few times a day. If you rent or borrow a bike it is an easy 5 minute ride to the beach.

I have not rented a car for my current visit and I am finding many delivery services and transportation alternatives. So if you don't have a car I can provide recommendations. Getting groceries delivered and laundry done is easy.

Had an AMAZING stay in this studio! Carol has done a fabulous job with the place. Upon arrival, it had everything I could possibly need and more. 10/10 for cleanliness. Gorgeous French doors provide fresh air as well as a view of the back patio filled with lavender, succulents, and an herb garden. Quiet, scenic neighborhood... I would wake up every morning completely at peace. I stayed here for 2 months and I will miss the relaxing baths and home cooked meals (kitchen has everything you need!) Really close to the ocean, and on certain days of the week there is an organic produce farm stand just around the corner. If you're looking for a comfortable, private getaway... this is the place!

CiCi was an incredible host! Her home was absolutely gorgeous, even better then it looks in the photos. The high ceiling make the room feel big, but the decorations make the home warm and cozy. The home is fully equipped with everything you need. We didn't get to spend much time at the house because we were in town for wedding, but I would have loved to have spent the whole weekend just in the home and on the back patio! It is wonderful!

Cici's place is private, beautiful, clean and spacious! We had plenty room for our daughter's pack n' play. We loved it - we got some good home design inspiration. Cici was so great she even suggested of some things to do around the area. We would definitely stay here again!

There's something magical about staying in a neighborhood that, at the outset, might look like any suburban cul de sac; until you discover the farm at the end of the block, the butterfly preserve and undeveloped coastline a short bike ride away, and the quiet beaches tucked behind every bluff, not to mention the tastefully designed studio where you lay your head at night. This is a great little corner of California coast. Here's hoping it stays that way.

I am an artist, designer and professor at Parsons The New School of Design in Manhattan. I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California before moving to New York, Brooklyn, Paris, Nice, Cassis and back to New York. I love, love my job. My student's keep me on my toes and keep me sane. When I can't be in nature I watch the doves and squirrels on my fire escape. And when I am not at home my cat watches them more.
