El barrio

Located around Namba Station, Minami (南, "South") is one of Osaka's two major city centers. It is the city's most famous entertainment district and offers abundant dining and shopping choices. The district is easily accessible as it is served by three train companies as well as three subway lines and a highway bus terminal. The other major city center is Kita (北, "North") which is located around Osaka and Umeda Stations.

One of Osaka's most popular tourist destinations, this street runs parallel to the Dotonbori canal. It is a popular shopping and entertainment district and is also known as a food destination. At night it is lit by hundreds of neon lights and mechanized signs, including the famous Glico Running Man sign and Kani Doraku crab sign.

~Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade~
Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade and the surrounding Shinsaibashi area is Osaka's premiere shopping center. Approximately 600 m long, this area is unique as it combines chain retail stores and trendy boutiques with expensive department stores and top designer fashion labels.

Locally known as "Amemura," this shopping district is considered Osaka's counterpart to Harajuku and is a good place to see the cutting edge of teenage fashion and culture in Japan. It is a lively atmosphere that is populated with cafes, clothing stores, and thrift shops with a younger feel than the nearby Shinsaibashi.

~Nanba Parks~
Built to resemble a natural canyon, Namba Parks is designed to be a break of nature amidst the sprawling urban landscape. It features a 120 tenant shopping mall including a cinema, amphitheater, and a rooftop garden. The 6th floor is made up of numerous restaurants including some Korean, Italian, and Vietnamese places.

With Hozenji Temple at one end and with more than 60 traditionalrestaurants and izakaya along it's narrow path, this alley retains an old time atmosphere reminiscent of Kyoto's Pontocho. Be sure to visit Hozenji Temple where local merchants and visitors alike pour water over the temple's statues for luck.~Senbayashi Shopping Street~
The premises span a length of 660m east to west, and there are some 220 shops lining both sides. It is a large shopping district, boasting the largest or 2nd largest size in Osaka.
The Senbayashi Shopping Street is consistently ranked as one the the most popular shopping districts in Osaka, and has been chosen to be among the top 30 shopping districts in all of Japan.

The Kita (北, "North") district, also known as Umeda (梅田), is one of Osaka's two main city centers. It is located around the large station complex that comprises Osaka and Umeda Stations. Kita's counterpart is Minami (南, "South") around Namba Station. Besides being Osaka's busiesttransportation hub and a bustling business district, Kita also offers an abundance of shopping, dining, lodging and entertainment, including several department stores and an expansive network of underground shopping malls.
~Yodogawa River Park~
There are various sporting houses in the large park which used a riverbed of Yodogawa. For a walk, the way of enjoying varies for jogging while seeing a flow of magnificent Yodogawa. A rape blooms in the Spring all over the embankment, and fireworks go up in Summer.
~Umeda, downtown area~
Umeda (梅田) as the centre northern part of Osaka City is often called "Kita" by the locals. Umeda is a district bristling with high-rise towers and crowds of shoppers, business people, travellers and visitors. Major department stores, shopping malls, movie theatres, office buildings and hotels are gathered in this area. Umeda has the world largest underground shopping mall complex, which connects most of the stations, department stores, shopping buildings.

~Osaka castle park~
Osaka Castle Park opened in 1931 and covers an area of 106.7 hectare.
Osaka Castle Park is colorfully embellished. You can see about 600 cherry trees, including someiyoshino in Nishinomaru Garden. About 95 kinds of Japanese apricot flowers,1250 trees in total bloom in Ume Grove, and in Omoide-no-mori (Grove of Remembrance), you can enjoy beautiful autumn colored leaves.
The scenery, which changes from season to season, attracts many visitors throughout the year. Although the castle park is located in the center of the city, it is a place of recreation and relaxation familiar to Osakans.
