Our stay here was okay, but we had much higher expectations from the description. It is a very bare bones house with no hot water heater--the showers had a heater thing on the shower head but no sinks had hot water. The chickens were very fun to have at the house and we enjoyed the eggs from them. The views off the back deck were beautiful too. Very convenient to San Ignacio, but you'll need a car to get around. There is no AC and the fans are not enough to cool the house. Even at night when it was a little cooler outside, the inside didn't cool down very much. We were there in September, so it was pretty hot. There were a lot of bugs in the house and I understand that it's in a rainforest, but there were too many (hundreds of ants in a nightstand, some type of animal/lizard poop in one of the bathrooms, and some lizards/geckos in the house). Our stay was okay, but I had much higher expectations from the description.

Respuesta de Sue:
Thank you for your feedback Lauren. We are thrilled that you enjoyed our deck and the view; our free range chicken and the complementary dozen of fresh eggs! Yes indeed September is very hot in Belize, particularly so this year - as evident by the highly active hurricane season! We understand how that must have been a challenge for you with your three little ones. For clarity, I do wish to note that our listing clearly stipulates that the house does not have any AC's. As for fans, each room is equipped with a ceiling fan and we provide 6-additional standing fans for our guest to locate as they wish. I am sorry to hear that these were not able to provide relief from the heat to your satisfaction. Regarding the bugs, we do live in the rainforest, and bugs are a feature of it. We try to mitigate this reality by ensuring that all our windows are screened and all our exterior doors are fitted with additional screen doors. As long as these screen doors are kept closed we are able to keep the bugs at bay. But I can understand how keeping them closed might poses a challenge when you have small children :) Occasionally, bugs do make their way into the house; but I am happy that our housekeeper Ruth, was able to attend to the ants and lizard droppings as soon as you brought those to her attention. Regarding hot water, again this is clearly stipulated in our listing. All showers are equipped with water heaters which function well; however, none of the bathroom or kitchen sink faucets have hot water. While has not proved to be an issue with any of our previous guests; I understand that you did not have a baby tub and so had wished to bathe your baby in the sink instead. I am sorry we were not able to facilitate that. I have amended our listing to more clearly explain this for the benefit of future guests. I thank you again Lauren for your valuable feedback. I hope you and your family had a safe trip home.

We loved staying here! Sue's place is so beautiful and clean and in a perfect location. Ruth , the caretaker, was so helpful in helping us find taxis and meeting us in the early morning when our plans changed. We will be sure to stay here again.

The house was clean and very spacious. There's no A/C there but several powerful fans kept us pretty cool. Kitchen is well stocked with basic supplies like coffee, flour, sugar, salt, pepper, etc. Also bottled water is provided. It is in a quiet part of town but still walkable to some restaurants and a little further to downtown. Very close to Cahal Pech ruins which is definitely worth a trip. We loved the hammock on the back porch and beautiful jungle behind the house. There were lots of small green parrots that entertained us.

This is a great place to stay in San Ignacio. It's convenient to Cahal Pech, Thirsty Thursdays(nightclub), a casino, the San Ignacio Resort (for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the iguana exhibit), the taco man with 50 cent tacos (yum!!!) and downtown San Ignacio. The place is spacious (we had 6 guests total) and when it's not incredibly hot outside, the Villa feels amazing. The backyard view is amazing (URL HIDDEN) the jungle! You can't beat that! There isa woodpecker that woke us up early on the last two days (the master bedroom), that was annoying, but hey, again, it's the jungle so don't complain! It's nothing Yarl Villa could do to avoid that! Overall, thumbs up to Yarl Villa.

This place was perfect for our needs. It was spacious, well laid out with a beautiful view. It wasn't far from town and everywhere we needed to be. It took us awhile to adjust to no AC in Belize during heat up to 98 degrees, but the host provided us with extra fans on top of each room having built in fans. Would definitely recommend people to stay here.

Sue's place is about 15-20 minutes walking distance to downtown San Ignacio and about 10 minutes walking to Cahal Pech. The hosts were great in communication and we loved the back deck and especially the hammock. Thanks for a great stay!
