Laura's country house makes you feel like you have gone to sleep and woken up in heaven! It is divine. Umbria is the most beautiful place in Italy and Laura's house is classic Umbria. Extraordinary views, rolling verdant hills, two fig trees to provide dessert and an olive orchard for your culinary needs! The country house is enormous, well equipped and cool due to its setting in the hills and its ancient design. The property is beautifully furnished and provides for all one's needs. Local farms and neighbours are nearby to help out with supplies like eggs, milk, local cheeses etc. I cannot recommend Laura's home enough. We had a wonderful, tranquil and blissful vacation. Although I would prefer to keep this a secret because I do not want anyone else to know about this Umbrian jewel! We wanted for nothing and Laura was always on hand to give us advice about anything Italy, Umbria or stay related. THANK YOU LAURA AND CHANTEL, All the best Chris and family

This was our third time renting this beautiful house, and the experience was wonderful as always. The house has everything you need and more for a relaxing stay in Orvieto, and the hosts are sweet and extremely thoughtful. We really enjoyed using the pizza oven (note that it uses a lot of firewood so you will need to plan ahead), eating cherries straight from the tree, and touring around Orvieto. We highly recommend this place and will return again.

Very warm welcome from Laura's sister. Incredibly beautiful country villa, grand and magnificent, with beautiful situation and views. A 20 minute drive on steep and difficult roads to reach the villa from Orvieto, the nearest town with shops.

Our time at Laura's house in Orvieto was everything we had hoped for and more. She welcomed us with cool sparkling wine and watermelon - both greatly appreciated during the record breaking heat this summer and then continued throughout our stay to give us great suggestions and help. We visited the local sheep farmer and got a very interesting presentation about how he makes cheese and olive oil. She also arranged for a cooking demonstration from a local woman who made fresh pasta and chicken cacciatore for our dinner. That was a highlight. On top of all that, the house itself is so comfortable and charming. Not one but two shady terraces to sit under, a kitchen with everything we needed, comfortable beds, lots a books and maps of the area. Then there is the view out through the garden and olive groves... I could go on and on. As long as you don't mind a little driving, if you are looking for a quiet home base in Umbria, this is the place. Grazie mille, Laura!

Laura was very responsive to every question we had (we had a lot!). She even called during our stay to check in, and helped us order some home-made lasagne that was delivered to the house one night by a local cook. The house is rustic, gorgeous and as authentic as you can get if you're looking for a traditional Italian family home. There was plenty of room for all 8 of us, and a kitchen filled with everything we needed to cook gorgeous meals (with some extra herbs from the garden, figs from the trees, etc. We even bough fresh eggs from the farm next door). The drive up to the house was a little complicated (took us some time to find it on the first day), but if you don't mind the adventure (and have the right tires!) it's a picturesque ride through vineyards and olive farms. On our second week the weather became very very hot and we missed a swimming pool or lake (the closest is about 1 hr drive) so we ended up buying a blow up pool from the grocery store (20 min drive down the hill). There were crickets chirping all day long, and in the mornings the smells from the garden were intoxicating! The surrounding area is beautiful, and feels somewhat isolated from modernity. Not many people speak English well, so if you're planning to visit this area you must be adventurous and able to leave behind any expectations of Starbucks, McDonalds, etc. (which we LOVED!). The town of Orvieto (about 45 drive from house) felts more touristic, and there you can buy any gifts (wine, truffles, leather and ceramic goods, etc.) that would be expected. But don't spend too much time shopping or else you'll miss out on time visiting the incredible Duomo (Laura told us it has art that inspired Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican!). It's beauty is indescribable.

This was our second time staying at this gorgeous stone house, and it was, once again, perfect! Laura and her sister Chantal are wonderful, considerate, and helpful hosts. The location is quiet, with amazing views, and the house had everything we needed and more. It's clean and spacious, and the outdoor spaces are so enjoyable as well. There are plenty of books to keep you occupied, and the kitchen is very well-equipped. I hope we can return again!
