If you would like a perfect holiday in an idyllic countryhouse in the heart of Périgord you need to look no further.
The house is located within a five minute stroll from the Unesco World Heritage Cadouin Abbey, where you can go and pick up your fresh croissant from the baker in the morning before you decide what to do (if anything) for the rest of the day.
The village is ideally located for exploring the best of the French countryside. Even though you can enjoy good restaurants and a nice drink at the local Abbey square, you can also adventure and explore the region easily with a car. There are numerous prehistoric sites and castles in the region, and also lots of possibilities for combining this with an active holiday. There are numerous canoeing and biking rentals in the areas, as well as numerous hiking trails, and swimming in the river to be done (with or without renting a canoe). In addition the village itself is surrounded by meadows, forests and hiking trails.
Luckily, when you are done exploring there are some amazing restaurants in the region as well. The closest ones are located within a five minute walk from the house at the square, and they serve the most amazing local treats, such as the local speciality garlic soup (tourin), duck, red wine, foie gras, cheese and other local treats according to the season.
The house itself is about 130 m2 and consists of the following
Ground floor: living room, kitchen, lounge, bedroom (bed 140), toilet and shower room + exit to terrace of about 20 sqm.
Upstairs: Two large attic rooms, separated by a door. One has a regular 120 cm wide bed, and the second room has 130 cm wide sofabed. There is also a toilet and washroom upstairs.
Facilities: washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, TV, gas central heating.
Free Internet access at the tourist office in the village (3 minutes walk).
There is a private secured parking space for one car.
Nearest Airport: Bergerac 20 km. Has rental cars available and is served by Ryanair from London.
Nearest Train station: Le Buisson de Cadouin 5 km
We have had guests from the US, London and Europe staying at our place and they have all fallen in love with the village. This is what the French countryside used to be like, and really should be like. We are also able to give you suggestions with respect to restaurants and sights in the area.
