Modern interior-designed flat, excellent location, light, sunny, café/restaurant in the same house, public transportation hub within 3 minutes walking distance, shops, cozy cafés, great restaurants, cinema and farmer´s market all nearby
Whilst renovating the rooms of this building (built in 1895, initially functioning as the bath-house of Altona) we found historic tiles at the walls in a very good condition, and decided to turn this unique space into a loft.
The loft, with a total area of 77sqm, is freshly renovated and has both, modern and antique furniture. It is made up of a master bed room, that is separated from the living room with a sliding door and has a new boxspring bed measuring 160x200cm, a bathroom with bathtub and shower and a spacious living room with an open plan kitchen.
Bathroom and kitchen are new and equipped with everything required - such as a washing machine, a fridge and a dishwasher. The bed has fresh sheets upon arrival, clean towels and a hairdryer are available.
The ceilings are high and the flat, which has wooden flooring throughout, creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
It is ideally situated to discover Hamburg and its surroundings, or can be equally used as a place to work in peace.
On days where the flat is not rented out, I myself use the flat as a quiet working space.
Free-of-charge wireless is of course available. In addition there is also a sound system to connect mp3-players and a flat screen with Blue-ray player and a small movie collection.
Coffee and tea is provided. To everyone who fancies a delicious breakfast I can only recommend the café/restaurant 'Klippkroog', which is just on the ground floor. The coffee is amazing and an excellent breakfast menu is available (including vegan), with seating indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Alternatively you can check their menu and order 'room service' - just phone them and tell them you are my guests and the staff will know!
In the evening they offer regional dishes (again with a vegan option). I recommend to make a reservation. And when enjoying the last glass of wine of the night it is only a very short way home - up to the second floor - very convenient!
Servicios y zonas comunes
The loft is available to guests without restrictions.
Atención a los huéspedes
I like to welcome my guests and give them advice for their stay. In case I should not be in town myself the friendly owner of the 'Klippkroog' cafe will handover the keys. In case there any problems I am available over the phone.
There are plenty of very nice local shops nearby. At 'Claus Kröger', Gr. Bergstrasse 241, you can find coffee-, tea- and chocolate-specialities, as well as wine and other small things. Useful for shopping small gifts.
I also recommend the small drapery 'Frau Tulpe', Gr. Bergstrasse 213, where I always find beautiful fabrics. Just opposite is DENN's organic food shop, MACRO (an Apple/Macintosh specialised shop) and Ikea.
Towards the train station Altona you will find a small tailor called 'Tintin', where you can also get shirts dry-cleaned and ironed. It is on Gr. Bergstrasse 261.
On the right hand of the next crossing you will find the large supermarket REWE, where you can find everything you need.
On the other side of the train station (also within walking distance) you will find the shopping centre 'Mercado' with a variety of shops, right in the heart of the Ottensen district.
The independent cinema 'Zeise-Kino' is located on the Friedensallee 7, inside a historic ship's propeller manufacturing factory.
On the way there you will pass countless small shops, cafes and restaurants. The best pizzas you will find in 'Eisenstein', directly next to the 'Zeise' cinema. My favourite pizza is the 'Blöde Ziege'. Reservation highly recommended!
A little bit further, in the Borselstr. 16f, you will find an exceptional concept store, called 'THE BOX', with funky furniture, lamps, art and a wide selection of cooking books. It even has an integrated kitchen utensils shop 'One Kitchen', that has everything you can think of. In THE BOX you can also relax and enjoy a good coffee either inside or on their terrace (weather permitting). In the evening concerts, readings and events take place in THE BOX - you will find the latest programme in the flat.
There is a market on the Spritzenplatz in Ottensen on Tuesdays, 8a.m.-2p.m. and Fridays, 8a.m.-6.30p.m.and an organicmarket on Wednesdays, 2p.m.-6.30p.m. and Saturdays, 9.30a.m.-3p.m.
If would like to go for a walk: Within 10min you reach the Elbe river and can enjoy a spectacular view over the port. From there you can turn right and follow the path to the port Övelgönne (20min). Following the same path will bring you to the beach of the Elbe, the old captain's hut and the 'Strandperle' (the address is Övelgönne 60). There you can sit at the beach, eat 'Fischbrötchen' (a local speciality, fish on a bread bun), enjoy a coffee and watch large container ships slowly passing by. Don't miss this!
The national rail (DB) and S-Bahn train station Hamburg-Altona is 3min walking distance. There you can catch intercity trains to Berlin, Cologne, Munich, etc. With the S-bahn you can reach the airport of Hamburg (S1 towards Ohlsdorf/Poppenbüttel) without any interchange within 40min. The congress centre (CCH) is 10min away (S11 towards Barmbek or S31 towards Neugraben). Landungsbrücken is also 10min away and you can reach Jungfernstieg and Alster in 15min (all with the S1 towards Ohlsdorf/Poppenbüttel). Right next to the train station you will find a switchh-point with 7 Car2go spaces.
I have renovated and designed the loft with a lot of care. I want my guests to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves. I am sure my guests will honour my efforts by treating the flat respectfully, as if it was their own home.
