Canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and row boat are available. There is wonderful swimming from a raft. Our cat lives in the house when it is not rented - do not book if you have allergies. The owners live in a tiny house in the backyard and are available if needed. There is no landline and the wifi signal is weak. We have close neighbours who do not appreciate loud guests. It is not a good fit for large groups who are noisy or families with energetic children.
This is a beautiful house on Lower Beverly Lake, thirty minutes from Kingston, Ontario, and one hour from Ottawa. It is a perfect place for a quiet family retreat. The tastefully decorated house has a main floor with one bedroom with hotel quality queen bed, full bath with soaking tub and walk-in shower. Enjoy a gas fireplace with beautiful ledge stone surround and lake view. Large fully equipped kitchen with gas range and island with seating for two. There is also room to sleep another 4 people in the basement which has one bedroom with a queen bed and one bedroom with two single beds. The basement also has a small kitchenette, living area, and a bathroom with shower.
There is a full size deck with barbecue. The house is fifty feet from the shore and dock with a beautiful green lawn and a outdoor fireplace. Canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards are available as well as a rowboat, which can be used for fishing. You can swim in the beautiful clear water by rowing out past the lakeshore weeds to a raft.
The nearest small town is Lyndhurst, which is ten minutes away. It has a post office, one small convenience store, a great ice cream shop, and two places to eat. Seeley's Bay, Delta, Athens or Elgin are other nearby towns for larger grocery stores and an LCBO. All are about 25 minutes away. There is a lovely market only 10 minutes away where you can buy organic fruits and vegetables, grass fed meats of all kinds, homemade ice cream and much more.
There are cottages right next door and the people who live in these cottages come to the lake for peace and quiet. We ask our guests to be respectful of this fact. Our cottage is not a good choice for those who want a place where they can play loud music or have loud gatherings around the campfire.
The setting is beautiful. Loons and herons, beavers and ospreys are regular visitors. May also see an occasional bald eagle. Charleston Lake Provincial Park, where you will find great hiking trails and a sandy beach, is only a 20 minute drive. There is also a small park just 5 minutes away with a sandy beach and playground. There is a small entry fee at both parks.

Atención a los huéspedes
Typically we will wait for their arrival to meet them and show them around the house and property. Any other interaction would be at their invitation. During the months that we are not in Malawi doing missions work, we will be living in a tiny house in the back yard of the Lake House. It is very important to us that our guests not feel intruded upon. During your stay we will either be inside our tiny house or off the property. However, our cat will possibly be roaming around outside. We will not be using the boats or entering the lake from our property, unless the guests are ok with this. If we are both in the tiny house we may, upon request from our guests, take them on a tour of the lake in our motor boat.

John and I rent our home in order to raise money for our three month yearly stay in Malawi, Africa. Our organization is called Impact Malawi and we build nursery schools, fix wells, sponsor secondary students and build fuel efficient rocket stoves. When you rent from us you are helping to make an Impact on the lives of the needy people in this poor Third World country. You can read about our work at (URL HIDDEN)
Our lake house is a perfect spot for a family or small group of friends who enjoy the peace and quiet of life on a lake. It is not a good spot for groups that are looking for a place where they can party. Our neighbors come to the lake for peace and quiet and to relax. It is very important to us that we offer our home to guests who understand the quiet nature of cottage life. It is also important to keep the noise down when enjoying a campfire, especially after 10 p.m. Please observe the posted (very slow but also very necessary) speed limit on the road into the cottage.
Please feel free to use whatever you need. The canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and row boat are available for your use. Other than that, we are easy people and do not have a lot of rules. There is a lot of information in the house manual on this site and a more comprehensive manual at the house. Our most important rule is that you relax and enjoy yourselves.
We love our home on the lake and enjoy every season and opportunity it offers. We ski and skate in the winter and kayak and swim all summer. When we are not on the lake, we are living in Malawi where we do work with villages that focuses on clean water and education. We would love to share our beautiful lake house with the Airbnb community.
