Located on the stunning Isle of Kerrera off the coast of Oban, Kerrera Bunkhouse is a great place for a family or group of friends to stay. Set on the south end of the island, it is an amazing place for a break away from it all! A short ferry ride and a delightful coastal walk will take you back in time...
**Please note that the last scheduled ferry to Kerrera is 6pm with a special boat bookable for 7pm 24 hours in advance**
The Bunkhouse is a cosy space with 4 bunk beds downstairs and a double and single upstairs. We supply bedding, but guests will need to make up their beds and strip them when they leave. You need to bring your own towels. There are no shops on the island, so you will need to bring all your food and drinks with you. There is a fridge and small freezer for you to use, along with a cooker, oven, microwave, kettle and lots of pots, pans and utensils. For big groups, we recommend you hire the Byre for the evening, which is an extra £25. This converted cowshed has comfy sofas, wood burner and large dining table. The fee includes a basket of wood for the fire. We have a selection of books and board games available for your entertainment. If you need more accommodation, we also have our 4m Bell Tent with double bed and wood burner available for £45 per night. We have further information and contact details available on our website and social media pages and reviews are available on Tripadvisor.

You will have the Bunkhouse to yourself. The toilet and shower block on the end is occasionally used by other guests/campers. The Byre is available (if booked) from 4.30pm each day. We ask for the Byre to be left as you found it, ready for cafe guests the next day. The island is all yours to explore!

There is no mobile phone signal here, as we are in a valley. If you climb the hill, then you can pick it up. There is no wifi in the Bunkhouse, but it's possible to access the Tea Garden wifi in the garden. We love music and we supply speakers in the Bunkhouse.
You need to take the ferry from Gallanach Road, about 1 mile outside of Oban.(HERE) Check out the Calmac website for the timetable. In summer they run very regular, less so in winter. There are no ferries between 12:30pm and 2pm and the last scheduled ferry is 6pm. You can arrange a 7pm boat by contacting Calmac.
We have been very lucky to meet amazing visitors to our island and we have never had any trouble with our guests. There are 40 residents on the island and lots of sheep and cows, so please be careful to leave gates as you found them.
From Ireland and Glasgow, we now live on a tiny island called Kerrera, close to Oban on the west coast of Scotland. We run a small cafe and bunkhouse at the south end of the island. We work hard through the busy tourist season and enjoy some travelling during the winter.
