This is a weird but weirdly likable apartment in a weird but weirdly likable neighborhood. The apartment has everything a single traveler or couple would need and Silvia and Oscar are extremely invested in the experience of their guests.
There were some odd things about this place but on the whole I really liked staying here. Some of the neighbors seem to have somewhat more drama in their lives than I do but there you go.
I LOVE the neighborhood. There is plenty of weirdness but it is totally, completely safe. Do not let the people that idiotically tell you that this area is a slum or whatever put you off. Whether you stay with Silvia and Oscar or not I highly recommend staying in the Raval if you are not a visor wearing, fanny pack toting idiot.
Silvia was extremely nice. The apartment is correct and everything necessary was provided. I recommend it for a weekend or similar, as the bathroom is pretty small for long stays. The neighborhood is very safe no matter how sketchy it may seem from the point of view of a person who doesn't know the city. And it is very well connected to the rest of the city, you can walk to pretty much everywhere!
Great welcome, clean and nice apartment for a couple, eventually 3 people, good advice of Silvia's boyfriend, central location in Barcelona near the metro, I recommend strongly !
Good Things about the apartment are:
1. It is really nice and clean
2. The kitchen is very well equipped – we had great times cooking there
3. It's right in the middle of the city a walking distance from the market, beach and metro.
4. Its hosts were very nice and helpful.
5. Great Wi-Fi!
The bed things are:
1. The neighborhood is a slam, so it's not the nicest street to walk down at night, although we didn't have any problem…
2. The shower is a bit small
We had great time to stay in the apartment which was (and felt) like our little home in Barcelona.
Raval is a great area if you want to stay close to all the tourist attractions, yet not in the heart of hostels, hotels, etc. We really enjoyed staying at Silvia and Oscar's apartment! The place is very welcoming and clean, and although the street feels a bit dark, there are always people around and we had no problems with anyone trying to cause trouble. There were a few bugs running around the flat, which apparently is the curse of Raval in general, but nothing major. Silvia and Oscar were incredible hosts, we arrived late at night and wanted to leave late on our last day - they understood and were incredibly helpful. I'd definitely recommend this place!
todo bien. muy amables. la habitacion esta muy linda, limpia, y tiene todo lo que uno necesita. el area es muy central e interesante, caminando todo te queda cerca, mucho movimiento y character. recomiendo un 100 porciento.
Nice place as a bed&breakfast. But what elese do you need when you travel for few days with small family or group of your friends in Barcelona? =)
Not big, but new and clean cute flat near Rambla (the heart of Barcelona).
There is a kitchen to have early breakfast before long and exciting city tour or shopping and to cook fast dinner after it.
There is a small shower room to cool off before a rest. Clean and fresh towels and bed linen are provided.
Do you need something else, if you are in Barcelona just to see it amazing city?
Yes, of course, the hosts should be good. So, they are!
Oscar, one of the host, was very kind to us. He answered all our questions we had about the city (closest shop, metro, etc.) and showed the main routes.
The only one minus - the flat is situated in the area, that was criminal. It is not so now, but anyway you should be careful.
And another minus - the balcony is fenced by the wall, so you can't see the street view, but it's not a huge problem.
Should choose this flat or not? It depends on your needs and goals in visiting of Barcelona. But we were glad to stay there for 4 days. =)
My girlfriend and I had a really nice stay in Silvia's flat in El Raval. The location is central and Silvia's husband was very welcoming and accommodating for us. The washing machine and balcony for drying clothes was great and Silvia even left coffee for us to make and drink in the morning. Highly recommended!
Simply perfect! I would definitely recommend it!
The apartment is a little bit small, but very comfortable and clean! just a 5 minutes walk for the Rambla and the metro is just around the corner. The owners are very friendly, welcoming and caring!
