  • A once-in-a-lifetime experience for our party of three travellers. Eid was waiting for us when we arrived at Wadi Rum and he took us to his home in the village for tea. He then drove us on an amazing three-hour tour of the Wadi Rum (which we had requested in advance and paid for separately). Finally, we arrived at his mother's tent, pitched in a stunning location in the middle of nowhere. (She had moved camp from Lawrence Spring to find better grazing for the goats). As the sun went down, we sat around a small fire in the tent, drinking sweat tea and finding out more and more about this fascinating way of life. Then came dinner - a pan of chicken and vegetables slow-cooked in embers, and eaten with bread and just our fingers. Absolutely delicious and very filling! The conversation and laughter continued, with Eid helping to translate, until we all felt ready for sleep. The thin mattresses we had been sitting on became our beds, and we slept in our clothes with plenty of blankets to keep us warm, waking again at sunrise for a light breakfast and to soak in the atmosphere of the wilderness before continuing our journey. Because Eid's mother had moved from Lawrence Spring there was no toilet, but we had the desert and plenty of rocks to go behind! And we had clean spring water to wash with. If you want an authentic, unforgettable experience then this is for you. If you want comfort and luxury there are other options in Wadi Rum, but you'll miss out on the real thing! It was a great privilege to be welcomed into the home of an elderly woman who loved the desert and the traditional way of life. Our hosts were kind, thoughtful and full of good humour. Our only regret was not having had the time to take a camel ride through the desert.

  • Absolutely wonderful hosts, so humble and welcoming. Had blast. Wadi rum is soooo beautiful. Definitely recommend

  • All in all I had a quite nice experience in Wadi Rum with Eid! The camp I stayed in was fun and well-situated, and Eid was very helpful in finding me a tour of the area and transport back to Aqaba. Truly a very easy way to see one of the most naturally scenic areas in Jordan!

    Andrew2015-08-15T00:00:00Z

  • Eid's camp is incredible!we spent one night and it was incredibile! We made a little tour and it was good!!! The bbq dinner was amazing as the dinner!!!! I recommed it to everyone!!!

  • How often you bring the rain to the desert, experience Bedouin hospitality, eat delicious and authentic food, drink refreshing sweet tea, spend a night in a romantic camp hidden between Wadi Rum dunes and finally take extraordinary morning exercise? I suppose it's only once in your lifetime. Unique, uplifting and memorable.

    Beata2018-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Good location and friendly bedouins. The camp is very simple but does the job!

    JB2016-11-24T00:00:00Z

    Carla2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful time at Vale and Ali's place. They are always in a good mood, and we really had fun with their stories. Moreover I learnt a lot about Jordan and the Bedouin style. They are a lovely couple of entrepreneurs, with a high intercultural competence. The appartment has a wonderful view of the city. Good luck and thanks!

    Carolina2014-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Valeria was incredibly sweet and kind. The room we stayed in was very spacious and cozy, with lots of warm blankets, a neccesity for our cold Petra night! She was also kind enough to prepare us a delicious and hearty breakfast in the morning, and chatted with us about her life and Bedouin culture. I wish the weather had been warmer so we could explore the village more! I would recommend staying here - just note though, if you come during the winter, bring some warm clothes to sleep in!

    Kate2015-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying with Ali and Vale. Both of them were very helpful and long dying our stay. The food was great. Love the barbecue prepared by Ali. The tips about Petra were very helpful and Ali was able to help us coordinate transportation to Israel and to Petra.

  • Excellent reception on it behalf. The location is the right place to be when you visit Petra. Very Good experience of the Bedouin life with him. Very recommandated. To book without hesitation. Mousa help us to visit Petra and it was a Good trip. We will come back.

  • Staying with Mousa and his family was an awesome experience. It's not necessarily for the Western traveler who wants to stay 100% in their comfort zone - you get a very unfiltered view of Bedouin life and culture. But that was a lot of what was great about it: Mousa invited us to dinner with his family and we watched how the food was prepared and then ate the very delicious result with them on a communal plate. You're in the village with hardly another tourist in sight, but still conveniently close to Petra - you can walk to the main entrance in probably 45 minutes, or Mousa can arrange a car for you for a reasonable price. You can also leave Petra through the back roads and go straight up to the town. It's a bit of a hike but a very pretty one. Mousa is extremely caring about his guests' comfort and was always asking us if we needed anything. He was very communicative and accommodating before and during our stay. He happily brought breakfast to the room for us at our requested time (even when that was 5:15 a.m.), and helped us arrange for drivers/guides, etc. without making us feel obligated to do anything. The space itself is very light and open, with a great view of the town. The bedroom and bath are very basic, but perfectly usable - especially nice to have good AC in the bedroom. The town can be a bit loud at night with music, talking, animals, etc., but that can be a cool part of the unfiltered experience, and it never kept us awake.

  • Staying with Mousa was a wonderful experience and a great way to discover Jordan. The apartment is located in the Bedouin Village which allows you to live a more authentic experience than if you were staying in one of the hotels in Wadi Musa. From Mousa's house, you can walk to Petra through a very beautiful path in the moutains, which is a real plus. Going by taxi will cost you no more that 3JD. Musa's family is extremely welcoming and after a few hours you already feel like a member of the house. The flat is very beautiful, well decorated and clean, with a really nice view on the village and the mountains. The fact that it is a shared appartment is no problem at all since there is a separate room and bathroom which can be locked. The living room is very big and Mousa was only using it when I was visiting Petra, so I had all the intimacy I needed. He did everything he could so I could feel at home and have my own space. Mousa is truly dedicated to his hosts and will try his best to help them and ensure they have the best experience possible in Petra. Moreover, since he is also in charge of the Bedouin discovery travel agency, he can give you useful tips to organize your time in Petra and even find activities for you with a very reasonable price. FOR FEMALE TRAVELERS: I would highly recommand you to stay with Mousa as he is a person of trust who will never make you feel uncomfortable. All along my stay he was very discreet, respected my intimacy, helped me with arranging everything and made sure to give me advice so I can be safe at all times.

  • Mousa was an excellent host and it was great staying in his family home. The pictures really capture the wonderful space. The location is perfect. The back entrance to Petra is very close and the main entrance was a short drive away. There is a small market across the street which was helpful, especially for buying water for sight seeing. The flat is on the fourth floor and Mousa's family live in the units below. The stars at night from the balcony are beautiful. There is a/c, hot water, a bath and kitchen. The wifi was good and the bed was a welcome place to crash after a busy day at Petra. Mousa was a kind and attentive host. He answered all my questions offered great advice and was always bringing me delicious hot Bedouin tea. I would stay here again in a heart beat.

    Anderson2016-10-06T00:00:00Z

    Karin2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • I stay in Moussa ' s apartment with my 2 daughters. Moussa organised a pick up at the border with a taxi, a unforgettable tracking around Petra with a guide. From breakfast to dinner, everything was a real treat. My children and I was so welcome. It was like to be part of a big family. Petra can be a massive touristic machine, but be with a real Bedouin' s family from many generations, make yours stay, something that you will never forget. I will definitely come back and I highly recommend Moussa' s place and experience in the area.

    Joelle & Martyn 2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed Mousa's hospitality and the location of his family home.

    Lina2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely recommend staying with Mousa. As advertised this is not luxury accommodations. It is truly a wonderful location to experience the local community. Communication with Mousa is was excellent and they were extremely accommodating.

Hicimos el tour the 4x4 súper fantástico.

  • Staying at Ahmad's camp in the Wadi Run desert was and always be one of the greatest experiences of my entire life. From the mazing jeep tour, to the camel ride and also the various places to hike It was absolutely perfect. Ahmad was ever so helpful in organising my picking up from Aqaba and departing to Petra. He and his staff made ever effort to make my trip exceptional. A MUST stay!

    Michael Francis2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • I had a booking for the 8th but because of my flight change I had to call Ahmad and ask him to come on 9th which wasnt the problem. Communication was easy and great and everything went smooth from my arrival til my departure. Tents are clean, blankets are thick, food is great and toilets are one of the cleanest I had seen trough my journey in Jordan. Amasing experience!

  • This was a great adventure while we were in Jordan. Everything with Mohammed's operation was smooth and he even made or next request seem less where we went out with one of his guide Rakam for a more secluded desert safari/overnight stay. Very please with everything and would have loved to stay longer. Thank you again for taking great care of us!

    Jeremy2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were thrilled. The jeep tour, the positive energy at the camp, the excellent food, and the after dinner music around the fire, all contributed to an excellent night's sleep in the desert. Would highly recommend this!

  • I had an incredible experienced at this bedouin camp in wadi rum. Mohammad was a great host, a really nice relaxed person who made me feel welcome from the start. Communication before hand was great and mohammad was waiting for me at the visitor centre to make my trip stress free. I highly recommend this listing for anyone looking for an incredible experience in the desert looking to learn about the bedouin culture. Thank you for everything mohammad. You are welcome at my home anytime bro! :)

  • Mohammed is a very cool guy! He picked us up from the bus station in Rum village and showed us around great places! The location of the camp is just stunning! Wadi Rum is really really worth going to!! Thanks for everything!

    David2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mohammed is a nice host. Tent is hot during the day, and comfortable at night. This camp is biggest as we went pass the desert, have many tents, living room, and clean toilet. But somehow the water was in short at the night we stayed, so we could not take a show. If we could, this trip to desert could be 100% nice.

    2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mohammad was helpful and welcoming. The desert camps were not of goat skin, as described. But we realized they were standard ones used for all desert camps. December months are very cold , sub zero at nights. We were provided with enough quilts , so that was good. Food was good too. Mohammad also took us on a 4WD tour of Wadi Rum and it was a fun guided tour. He also had a little surprise for us in that tour - a fun thing to do. Won't spoil the surprise for others by mentioning it here. However, there is no proper mobile network for Mohammad's phone. Remember, its a desert. So we weren't able to contact him before reaching. However, he was very prompt and was waiting at the visitor center around the time we were supposed to reach, in order to receive us and guide us till the camp. So dont worry if you can't reach Mohammad on the phone and don't freak out like I did.

  • I had a great time staying at this campsite. Mohammed and his dad were very nice and welcoming. The campsite was in a great location about 30 minutes drive from Rum Village. They offered traditional breakfast and dinner. And also arranged for any tours you were interested in. No wifi since you are in the middle of the desert. I also got invited to a family wedding which was pretty cool.

  • Had an amazing time!!! Also signed up for a four hour jeep tour of Wadi Rum which was awesome! Went camel riding, sandboarding, hiking, and so much more! Was overall a spectacular experience!

  • We were extremely well welcomed. Majed is a truth worthy host that will show you the beauty of Wadi Rum.

  • To be clear, the listing price was not final. Once arriving in Wadi Rum we had to pay 25 JOD per person for the stay, plus an extra 40 JOD for a tour of Wadi Rum and the ride to the campsite. Wadi Rum was beautiful. Our campsite was hosted by a man named Mahmoud who took care of dinner for us. The campsite was comfortable, with beds for each of us. The bathrooms were modern and well maintained as well. Unfortunately, the night we stayed was a cloudy one so not many stars to see, but still relaxing and peaceful. Overall a good stay, however I may choose to book with a tour agency to avoid the price confusion in the future.

  • Majed camp has great location, nice cozy tents and very good bedouin meals (also with vegetarian option). Nights in january are cold but there are lot of thick blankets in the tents. We've toured around the desert with his uncle in jeep and the trip was awesome! Cost was 50 jod per person (including lunch on the desert) but totally worth it!. We've been there for 2 nights with our 11-years daughter and we recommend this place for families.

  • good point Dinner and breakfast were traditional and good taste. The viewpoint of sunrise is nearly. × bad point You can not access this camp unless you participate in a desert tour or pay a high transportation fee. The host said that we had pick up and transfer, but when we visited there, the host told us that it was free only from the visitor center to Wadi Rum Village. We were not informed in advance and we had no plan to participate in the desert tour, so we had to pay a high transportation fee. Then we were told that it would take a day to walk to the host tent, but in fact the tent is about 8 kilometers from Wadi Rum village.

  • Majed is a great guy, a real bedouin born and raised in Wadi Rum, a place that he loves and of which he knows every single rock. He led me to the most panoramic spots and made sure that my stay was pleasant. Life at the camp is great and it's hard not to feel at home. Everybody makes an extra effort to make everybody feel welcome.

    Alberto2016-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Majed is the absolute best guide to Wadi Rum. We spent 3 days with him guiding us and touring us in his jeep. So nice to be in a private tour and he knows everything there is to know about Bedouin and history of Wadi Rum. He welcomed us into his home for tea and gave us some to take home. We were sad to leave after such a great stay. Everyone in Jordan is extremely welcoming and the kindest we had ever met. I will be staying with Majed again

  • Ismael is an incredible guy. Not only is he very nice, hospitable and down to earth he is also spontaneous and knows everyone in town. He was always quick to respond and help me with any questions prior to my arrival. He also offered to show me around Aqaba and I had a blast. His place is an easy 8 minute bus ride to the center of town. He introduced me to the national dish called Mensa. He also had me try different interesting things around town, like a corn mix and colored sand art. He had breakfast ready for us the next morning before we left. I was impressed by so much hospitality. Ismael is the kind of guy that is really proud of his country and culture and loves to show around an authentic experience to his guests. I would 100% recommend him as a host to anyone.

  • I had amazing time in Aqaba, staying with Ismail. The communication between us was swift, the room is spacious and the bed comfy. Ismail is a very friendly and hospitable host. It was a pleasure to hang out with him and his friend, have food, drink, and shisha together and experience the Aqaba life like a lokal.

  • Ismail is amazing very welcoming host, we had a great time hanging out with him and his friend. He showed some cool local places in Aqaba, which I would not know about if he did not show me. Also, Ismail prepared a pretty nice breakfast, which I did not expect. I will never regret that I chose Ismail’s place, he made my trip to Aqaba super cool.

  • Saifs little cave is the perfect getaway from a hectic day. It is easily reachable from Petra with a car. Saif Was a great host, he brought some tea and we relaxed a bit at a bonfire.

    Till2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Seif is a really cool guy and his place is amazing. We met at his place (I took a taxi, the price is 5 JD) because his car was in service, but it is easy to find. He welcomed me with a smile and I feel really good from the first moment. He showed me the cave and we spoke about some additional service such a cooking breakfast, lunch or dinner or whatever I feel like to have. It was great to clarify all on the first moment what I really appreciated. (finally, dinner was great and the price was very friendly). Then he took me to Little Petra, and on the way back we stopped in his village on the family place where we took a lunch. The evening he took me with his cousin around the valley and we enjoy a chit chat and magic places nearby. The evening was again amazing because Seif cooked common dinner and finally we all enjoy that. Lying on mattress side a fireplace, watch stars, take a warm from a fire, drink tea and listening local music. The night I stayed in the cave, lighting only with a candle. Seif and his cousin slept outside. The second day they helped me arrange cheap transport to visitors center of Petra and the way back when I finished. The evening we enjoyed the same cooking and relaxing. For early morning bus for the trip to Wadi Rum, he again helped me with transport to bus terminal min Wadi Musa. The location of the cave is (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) "E, therefore, you really need transport from Wadi Musa :). To Stai with Seif is really Safe :) and cool and I can fully recommend. Thank you, bro, for everything and hope next time I will have the chance to stop over for longer and you will show me all the hidden corners in the mountains nearby. See you :)

  • The experience is unique, to say the least. The host is accommodating and will drive you anywhere you need to go. This works out well, as you are dependent on him due to your location in Little Petra. My advice as a woman, is to travel with another friend. Our host was great and offered to stay with us just outside the cave and sleep in his truck so we'd feel safer because it is slightly isolated and upon arrival, seeing a literal hole in the wall can be off putting and a bit frightening. If I hadn't been with a friend, a good one, I would have cancelled. It takes a bit of nerve to stay there but it is so worth it in the end. Due to his truck breaking down, we ended up eating dinner at his family's house, where we met a beautiful, welcoming family, with lots of pictures and stories to share. They offered us a hot shower at their place and the best sage tea I had my entire time in Jordan. Our host then drove us back to the Happy Cave, lit a fire and the cave turned into the most beautiful, cozy little room. Our neighbor even joined us for a bit and played the flute while we drank some Bedouin whiskey - sweet tea. It is definitely an adventure so if you're seeking comfort, stay in town at a hotel. If you're seeking something new and different, this is for you! Also, be prepared to see chickens, dogs, and a donkey hanging out near the cave, as the animals belong to local tribesmen in the area.

  • We had an amazing night at the cave. It’s an incredibly special place. Seif cooked us the best meal we’d had in our whole stay in Jordan, he showed us the stars and is a true gentleman. We’d highly recommend this experience, you will not regret it! Also very close to all the wonders Petra has to offer. Seif is a LEGEND. Stay at his special one-of-a-kind place.

    Claire2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Saifs place is really special. There is nothing better than to crawl out of a cave in the morning and see this amazing rocky nature. Little petra is just 5 min walking and hanging out with saif in the evening was fun. The delicious food cooked by his mother was a dream! If youre not into a boring hotel this is the place to be!

  • This place is amazing! You will be staying in an amazing cave that was passed down from Seif's grandfather. It's in an area called Little Petra which has amazing landscapes. Seif will be there to meet you with a bottomless pot of tea on the fire and stories of the area. Highly recommended if you want to catch a glimpse of what it was like in ancient times! Thank you Seif!

  • This was by far one of my favorite Airbnb experiences. This was a lovely secluded and clean campsite with the most wonderful staff (especially Abu Youssef, who helps you with everything you need!) We were there mid July, so it was incredibly hot but there is a seating area that is shaded all day and we were able to pull our beds out of the tents to sleep under the stars at night. The bathroom was so clean and the food was delicious. Plus the free hookah and tea all day was amazing. They even made us different types of coffee each day! I really can't say enough wonderful things about this campsite.

  • Everything about Salman's place and Salman as a host was perfect: 1. He picked me up in Aqaba and brought to Wadi Rum for free. And he is a very good careful driver. 2. The tents are very good, windproof, with clean bedshits and two very warm blankets. 3. There is a shower with hot water. 4. Dinner was included in the price, very well cooked and consisted of 5 different vegetarian dishes (upon my request). 5. Unlimited delicious Bedouin tea made on fire. 6. Salman is a great guide who keeps balance of showing you the most interesting places and giving you time to enjoy it without him interfering. He also takes good pictures when asked. 7. He can organize anything you wish any time you like: camel ride, keep tour, sandsurf, sunset points, etc. 8. Nice breakfast was also included in the price. 9. They make nice fire in the evening, so you can stay outside watching stars. Overall, I can't believe how much I got for 11$ I booked the place for. And Salman's hospitality cannot be measured in money. Great place, great host, incredible and unique experience.

    Sasha2016-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Salman was a gracious host and very kindly picked me up to stay at the camp. The camp itself is situated in a beautiful spot in Wadi Rum shelter amounts the sandstone cliffs. Salman was kind enough to take me to a spot to watch the sunset and arranged a jeep our for me the following morning. He was also kind enough to drive me in to Aqaba for a tour of the city. The camp itself is very new with cozy tents and a new bath house with hot showers and toilets. Plus dinner was also provided in a communal tent ... fresh chicken and rice and all the trimmings. If you are looking for the true Bedouin experience this is the place to stay.

    Carolyn2017-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, great experience. As I was in January, weather was bit cold (cca 8-10 c), windy, so little warm shower and wifi could make staying inside a bit nicer (but not problen for me lack if it). In good warm weather outside all can be good tough. Staff people were very nice, friendly, flexible. Took 1h camel ride, was nice experience. Other guests make good company, too. So I would recommend it.

    Tamás2017-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The views are magnificent. The food is incredible. Hot showers were great and the tents were warm. Our hosts were hospitable and helpful. We highly recommend Salman’s camp!

  • Really good camp. Good shade in the afternoons. Made delicious vegetarian food for us. And served unlimited tea! Bathrooms were neat. Helped set up camel rides and 4x4 drives for us at good price. Highly recommended!

  • Bring your own water. Nice shaded sitting area. If researching alternatives, avoid camps with full sun exposure. Dinner was 7jd and good. Breakfast was 3jd and minimal. Bathroom block has 3 clean and flushing toilets and 3 private showers. Bring a headlight. Some of the jeep tours are in old, not maintained pickups and others are new and modern. Friendly staff. Have patience. Poor communications.

Staying in the desert under the stars was an unforgettable experience and Hamid, his appearance and stories made it hundred times better.

  • Mohammad and Holly's flat is in a great location for a true and authentic experience of Petra & Wadi Musa . It is very close (10 min walk or less) to the actually site and you can find heaps of restaurants nearby (The Oriented Restaurant is the place to eat at). I did not get to meet Holly, but her colleague, Mohammad was a very nice and friendly guy. The flat is as advertised, and though it does not have air condition, there are lots of windows to bring in cool breeze. Unfortunately the wifi didn't work at all the whole time we were there which was a bit frustrating, Mohammad did, however, let us used his mobile hotspot when he was around. The restaurants at the bottom of the hill all have wifi and we spent a lot of time there using theirs. They are very friendly and will let you hangout and used their wifi. Mövenpick hotel also have free wifi, you can just sit outside opposite the hotel and access it without needing a password. Me and my colleague truly love Petra and had a wonderful stay. Cheers Mohammad!

  • Holly and Mohammed's place is very close to the entrance of Petra, which was our main purpose for being in Jordan. We spent 3 nights there. Mohammad and his uncle picked us up from the Aqaba border to drive us to Mohammad's house. We stopped for a late lunch and explore of Wadi Rum on the way up. The food was delicious, chicken, vege and traditional gravy, cooked by fire. I'd recommend this extra tour, it was great value for money, as was the transportation to and from the desert. We also had another dinner (lamb this time) in the desert cooked by Mohammad. Once again, delicious. If you are after great value for money, and great location, then this airbnb is for you!

    Nic2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mohammad was an outstanding host! We arrived a bit later than expected but Mohammad was waiting for us and was very welcoming. He expalined everything about the house and the surroundings. Petra was our main attraction and it is a short walk from this place as well as a well stocked full size grocery store. He treated us as his friends and opened their home as if we were a valued guest. Holly, we didn't get to meet unfortunately, was out of town. He also offered some great advice for other activities we had in mind and made arrangements for us at an astoundingly reasonable cost. Frankly, I don't understand how they made a profit off of his asking. Everyone he introduced, or that we randomly bumped into on the streets were exceptionally kind, generous and friendly people. We highly recommend Mohammad's place.

It's easy to get to the center by taxi, it costs 1JD, but you can also walk there. Adnan always helped me with everything I needed and we had many nice conversations with him. • Adnan is a killer Airbnb host. Above and beyond. He picked me up at the border when I arrived and also drove me to the atm and the bus station before my trip to Petra. The tourist police at the border know him. The people in the ticket office at Petra know him and also the people who run the hotel I stay at know him. He is a good guy to know in Aqaba and Petra, clearly. His apartment was clean, comfortable and cheap. Can't ask for much more than that... 5 out of 5

  • Adnan and his place are absolutely great and recommendable! He did not only help me during my stay in Aqaba but also after - great guy - thank you Adnan!

  • Adnan was a great host, very easy to organise check in and gave us advice when we asked. The place is warm and quiet, about 4 kilometres to the city centre, we always walked it but the taxis are quite cheap as well. Thanks for the stay Adnan!

  • Adnan is a really nice and kind person and will help you with everything! I can highly recomend this place!!

  • We changed our travel plans spontaneously and Adnan was so sweet to help us out and organized a room at his friends within one day. Both Adnan and his friend Ramzi were very welcoming, showing and telling us about the good spots in town. We can only recommend staying with Adnan when you are in Aqaba.

  • Adnan was in so many ways a magnificent host. We were so lucky when we decided to stay at his place. The day we arrived it happend that Adnan was at the border at same time as we so he picked us up and after took us to the city center and way back, so we can get a hint of Aqaba after many hours of travelling (otherwise we would go straight to bed). We spent evening together talking, sharing thoughts on everything, drinking tea and eating habibeh (I hope that is what we ate:) ) and Adnan gave us great intro in Jordan and what we can and should visit and because of him we want to come and visit other areas we didint even know about. His local tips, kindness and good energy are perfect combination if you want your stay in Aqaba and Jordan in general to be amazing and make you want to explore more. Thank you for everything.

    - Sleep under the stars and wake up to the stunning view of the sunrise over Petra. - Discover unique places in Petra only known to its inhabitants: the Bedouin. - Experience the Bedouin way of life. - Capture the changing colours of Petra. - Learn about the Bedouin culture.
    - You can book the space as a single traveller or a group of 10 people or more. - Dinner and breakfast are available for an additional fee. - This experience is for those who love nature and free/wild camping; this is NOT a tourist campsite!
The inhabitants of the Bedouin village of Petra are Bedouin who belong to the Al-Bedoul tribe. Our tribe has lived in Petra itself for centuries - until 1984, when we were moved to a place overlooking Petra, which has become the Bedouin village (or Umm Sayhoun), after Petra became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • The stay at Mousa's camp was an amazing experience. The best Bedouin experience u could get in Petra village. Mousa was very helpful during the stay by organizing an amazing tour and welcoming us to his beautiful campsite. The guide Soulayman was really helpful and kind. He helped us dicover all Petra's hidden gems during the hike.

  • Petra Under the Stars was an amazing experience! Mousa was a great host that truly has the experience of the guest as a top priority. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants a taste of what the bedouin life might have been like thousands of year ago. Mousa took great care of me and made sure I had a great experience. If you are planning a trip to Petra you HAVE to book this experience with Mousa! I have added my itinerary of the two days I spend there including my experience with Mousa to give you a picture of what your trip would be like: My trip started by driving from Amman to Petra. when I arrived I began by meeting Mousa at this house in the village very near to the entrance of Petra. He gave me a map, gave me tips on how to avoid being scammed by tourist traps, and helped me plan out the 2 days I was going to spend there. After this I spent several hours exploring Petra before heading back to meet Mousa at his house. We set out for his cave early afternoon before sunset. We made it to the cave a little after dark and made a fire, cooked dinner, and spent the evening talking about life and culture. The cave we stayed in was awesome and gave you the authentic bedouin experience! I took a sleeping bag as it got cold in the evenings but Mousa did have blankets if needed them. In the morning, Mousa prepared breakfast and tea. After breakfast we packed up camp and made our way back to his house. We arrived back at Mousas house mid-morning. After having some more tea, I thanked Mousa and spend the rest of the second day in Petra. I can not express how great this trip was. I will never forget it!

  • At first I was a little sceptic about sleeping in a tent in December, but I can definitely recommend it, since it was one of the best experiences of my life. Mousa and his crew prepared a delicious meal and breakfast, while we enjoyed the scenic view of the stars at night and of the desert in the morning. Solomon played the flute at night and took us on a tour around Petra off the beaten tracks the next day. This is the right accommodation for anyone who is looking for a unique and unforgetable experience in Petra.

  • Sleeping in the ancient cave inside Petra was one of the most wonderful moments during my whole life, you should really try it to taste how local Bedouin from Al-Bdoul tribe used to live for centuries. To make it clear there are still roughly 20 bedouin families living inside caves and the tents close to the cave. If you can not decide whether stay with Mousa or not I will give you some true information, there are many options to sleep in a cave but just a few of them are exactly inside Petra. Don`t forget that Mousa's cave is inside the Petra and it takes roughly 1 hour or less of walking from the theatre. We went there at about 4 o'clock, departing from the centre of Petra. Suleiman brought all the necessary staff like food, drinks and a tent on a donkey, if you like you can also ride a donkey to the cave. For your convenience you can sleep inside the tent to prevent a small bugs and flies annoying you in the morning. After we arrived to the place we together collected some wood to start a fire for a barbecue and of course a Bedouin tea. On the way for collecting the wood Suleiman did some crazy climbing up to the hills just to bring some food. Btw. he can even climb up the Monastery! We drunk some tea together, Suleiman played the flute as usually and prepared very delicious barbecue. Chicken, vegetables and of course the traditional bread was served as well. The food on fire is always very delicious. We stayed up until late speaking about local life and many other topics. Suleiman also recited me various verses of the Holy Qur’an during the night. Please keep in mind that it wasn't his own initiative. I wanted it and I loved all what he did for me. It was very special and unique time for me. Thank you very much Suleiman, Mousa and all the Beduouin comrades! See you soon Inshallah!

  • I cannot tell enough about this experience. Best decision ever. I am so happy I found out about this place. There was no question needed - hotel vs. local bedouin's house. I read few reviews and booked. Everything everybody else staying with Mousa wrote showed to be complete truth. Mousa is terrific host who will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. I have to admit that he had so much troubles with us, because my phone wasn't working so we couldn't communicate properly, and he never mentioned anything. He was always available and waiting for our arrival to ensure the most enjoyable stay. We felt welcome like a family members. By the way, Mousa's place is located not in Wadi Musa, but in picturesque local village Umm Sayhoum, where only bedouin people live. It is excellent little village and it takes about 7 minutes to get there by car from Petra visitors centre. The drive is up above the hills of Petra and makes a scenic drive especially during sunset. Parking is in front of Mousa's house protected by camera. After arrival we were hungry so we asked for possibility of having straight vegetarian dinner. In an hour we were presented with absolutely delicious local dishes. I wish I could fly there just to meet Mousa over dinner again. Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner...nothing is a problem. We were staying in Petra for two days and thanks to Mousa we made it almost three. Our experience is complete. I told him my plan and he recommended what to see and where to go. Second day he helped me with making possible to get to Ad Deir from Little Petra (absolutely recommended as it is scenic walk) and organized everything. When I told him, that due to aircraft delay we missed our first day bedouin experience in Wadi Rum (sleeping under the stars with bedouin) he offered another help. For that checkout his page Petra under the stars, where I will write separate review as this is already waaay too long. Just to mention just before we were supposed to head to Petra to sleep over there, my girlfriend got sick. I had to cancel and stay one more night at Mousa's. Everything was ready, but we just couldn't go. Second day I told Mousa, that she is feeling better and we would love to do it so if I can pay again, he refused and organized it for us all over again. He kept saying: "I want you to have enjoyable stay and not to pay too much. This is nobody's fault so let me see what I can do." And he did. I was delighted. I just can't say thank you enough. And by the way, walk from the Royal Tombs up to Mousa's house, which only locals use is utmost wonderful. I cannot believe so many people misses this stunning walk. Mousa, thank you once again for making our stay the best possible. I will spread the word...

Bienvenido a nuestro hogar y vecindario
  • What an amazing stay at Hammoud and Joy's home. Their hospitality made our trip to Petra. From beginning to end it was beyond our expectations. The communication before hand was very useful, the house was clean and the beds were so comfortable. We had dinner at their house and it was delicious, best food we ate our entire trip in Jordan. They let us help in the preparation so we got to have a bonus cooking lesson out of our stay. We highly recommend hiring him to take you the back way to the top of the Monastery. The panoramic scenic views were out of this world, and we had the site all to ourselves, not seeing any other tourists along the way. Hammoud was an excellent guide, he provided a lot of great information that we never would have noticed or seen if we had visited Petra on our own.

    Jeannie-Marie2017-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • The room we slept in was so pretty and cosy, we really enjoyed staying in such an esthetic atmosphere. We had dinner (€10 each) one time, cooked by Hammouds sister, and it was very good. The breakfast we got each morning was also lovely and plenty. The village is close to Petra - either walking or hitching, or you could ask Hammoud to call someone for you! One note: we stayed in november and it was quite cold in the house / but we dressed up warmly and than it was fine!
