  • Cindy and her home are what makes AirBnB great! Such a great experience with wonderful amenities. Don't skip the wood fired sauna!

    Gabe2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy is wonderful and informative, she gives detailed directions to her secluded home. She went above and beyond to take care of us and leave us snacks and tell us about the area. It was absolutely perfect for a quit evening in a comfortable home with access to the hot tube under the stars and snow flakes!!

    Stephanie2017-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • A perfectly well maintained home away from home... Cindy and Jim were welcoming and made us feel at comfort right upfront. All amenities and facilities were well maintained and allowed us a peaceful and relaxing stay.. Thanks Cindy and Jim..

  • If you are lucky enough to get to stay with Cindy and Jim count your blessings! They are genuine, gracious hosts that live in Paradise. We could have stayed there for a very long time. If they would have allowed. Go!

    Frances2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy's place is such a special spot on the map. It is serene, beautiful, and so relaxing. Truly the perfect getaway. It's just 20 minutes from Missoula, but is so peaceful and right in the middle of some incredible nature. Make sure to stop by if you're in the area!

    Ingrid2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was wonderful!! The hosts were so warm and friendly. So easy to talk to and they gave some great recommendations for local areas to visit along the way. The location... mind blowing. A slice of heaven. So beautiful. Secluded. Nature in its most beautiful form. Great little trails for an easy walk in the woods. Our favorite part was the hot tub!! With the amazing views. What more could you ask for! Hoping to go back again! And the house had everything we could have needed. Couldn’t have been easier! You get SO much for such a great price. Unbeatable!

    Nichole2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had great experience in this house. Everything Cindy offered for breakfast and for the kitchen was great. Wonderful hot tub helps relaxing. We would definitely recommend it!

  • Kathee and Dave were more than accommodating. All of our needs were met by these humbling and gracious hosts. The place was warm, cozy and everything we needed. I enjoyed being greeted every now and then by their adorable dogs. Warning this place is really easy to fall in love with! Recommend checking out the Buddha garden.

    Amanda2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • We were a party of 3 plus a dog passing through Montana on our way to Standing Rock, ND. We drove straight from Portland to Kathee's guest lodging and arrived in the middle of the evening. We were so elated to arrive to a well heated, warm, cozy cabin! Oh my, we have been to many and Airbnb in mountain hideaways or rural areas where turning on the heat for a guest is not always thought of! But Kathee though of everything. Wonderful homemade Organic applesauce, fresh crisp apples that were fragrant and delicious, lots of extra blankets and a kitchen equipped enough for us to reheat food we brought and serve up a nice dinner for wary travelers. Their doggies were friendly and well behaved. They met our dog respectfully and playfully, one greeted us upon arrival and a different one bid us farewell upon check out. (So clever of them to take shifts:) We would definitely stay again! The view of the mountains at sunrise was amazing, as we left early! Wish we could have stayed to enjoy the hikes she had laid out for us, but alas we were on a mission. Mahalo! for taking us in Kathee!

    Amy2016-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Kathee's place with my two teenage kids for a couple of nights during an otherwise hectic trip. Our time at her place was very relaxing and a nice break from our schedule. Kathee's directions were easy to follow and she was very easy to get in touch with. The place was clean and had plenty of everything needed for our stay (linens, dishes, cookware, etc.). The surrounding area is beautiful. Make sure you're prepared with the footwear and attire appropriate for the season and plan your food supplies appropriately as the stores in Arlee have limited operating hours. But whatever you do, don't let either of those things deter you from staying here or visiting the local establishments. Kathee's place is truly a place to find peace and quiet.

    Josh2017-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We have been fortunate to stay in dozens of Airbnb's for the last 4 years because of work and for traveling purposes. I can honestly say that Kathee and Dave's farm is one of our absolute favorite homes we have ever stayed in. The location is magnificent with mountains surrounding all sides. There is a Buddha Garden a bike ride away that is both spiritual and reflective of this lovely community. Yes, the apartment is spacious and rustic - and this is the point of the place. The bed is extremely comfortable, and with the windows open, you can breathe in the freshest and cleanest air. This is a working organic farm, and you only have to visit a short time to know that it is loved. Kathee's sheep, friendly dogs, and chickens all add to the ambiance. I strongly recommend this place for more than overnight stays. It is a destination of its own, and Kathee and Dave will make you feel like family.

    Li & John2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the two nights we stayed with Kathee and Dave on their farm. Our 16 month old loved all the animals on the farm (the dogs, chickens, sheep, and cat). We were treated to fresh produce including eggs, apples and zucchini. It's a beautiful setting near the Buddha garden about 30 minutes north of Missoula.

    Megan2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Apartment was great! Owners were very friendly and helpful. We forgot toothbrushes and she did not hesitate to help out, as we arrived very late. Very nice place surrounded by beautiful mountains.

    Ronny2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great setting! Kathee and Dave are super nice hosts!!! We even had a chance to work a bit on the farm! Located about 30-60 mins from many activities; beautiful downtown Missoula, hiking, Flathead Lake (must see), whiter water rafting (Alberton Gorge), delicious diner in St. Ignatius (Old Timer Cafe), 2 hours to Glacier, and much more. Waken to birds chirping...not the sounds of the daily grind! This stay recharged our batteries.

    David2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The location is a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. The Apt is rustic and comfortable with many amenities. The hosts Kathee and Dave are wonderful folks, friendly and helpful. They have mountain bikes there for use and one can ride up the gravel roads and get a splendid view of the whole valley. The temps were in the low 90's but the apt has great ventilation and cools down nicely at night. We will rent here again.

This camper is now closed for the winter. Will reopen in the spring. :-).Cozy and comfortable teardrop camper. With kitchen and bathroom. With an oversized bed, plenty of room for two people. There's also an outdoor fire pit for relaxing and watching the amazing sunsets and/or cooking. Easy access to the surrounding mountains. Very near to the Garden of a Thousand Buddhas and Glacier National Park. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of this rural setting, with breathtaking views in every direction.
Perfect peaceful little getaway. This is a very small teardrop camper, The u shaped dinette makes into a bed that is larger than a kingsize bed.
Incredible Scenic views. Quiet and peaceful with lots of wildlife, such as fox, owls and deer. This property is situated just a very short drive from the mountains with plenty of lakes, streams, hiking and biking. We are also near Glacier National Park and the Garden of a Thousand Buddhas.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our quiet, scenic visit and would stay here again. If you are not familiar with a teardrop camper then do your research as the coziness may not be for you. Sandy thoughtfully provides breakfast items and firewood along with a clean camper.

  • Beautiful sunset and quiet environment as advertised!

    Christy2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place was exactly what I expected - quiet, with amazing views. I got to watch the sunset with only the sound of near by cows in the background. The camper was clean and had so many beautiful touches! The perfect little get away spot!!!

    Ember2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing. Sandy was really nice. My girlfriend and I stayed out here one night. The scenery was gorgeous and the camper was adorable but still had everything we needed in it and more. Highly recommend.

  • This spot is so peaceful and beautiful! The camper is adorable and I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a quiet evening and awesome views. Also, it's a quick drive away from the Garden of 1000 Buddhas, which is definitely worth checking out!

    Jaimie2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The camper is well kept and has all the amenities that you will need. Sandy had the fridge stocked with some juices and bagels for the morning. There were some marshmallows for roasting. The fire pit is large and firewoods is provided. Pro tip fro some delicious and less messy s'mores... bring some Fudge Strip cookies. Chocolate and graham cracker combine! Slide a toasted marshmallow between two cookies, and enjoy! We unplugged the outdoor string of lights and enjoyed stargazing. We had a great overnight stay.

The property is located in the Rocky Mountains, between two spectacular National Parks (Glacier and Yellowstone) which are must see destinations. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone interested in visiting or just passing through Missoula.

    Greg2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Judy was such a kind and thoughtful host, and her breakfasts were simply delicious and healthy. I am so glad we found this B&B outside of Missoula rather than our typical hotel. From the B&B be sure to take a drive up and around Flathead Lake. Beautiful all around!

    Scott2014-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Regrettably, I do not recommend Judy Fundingsland’s Property, the Russian Olive B&B, as a choice for lodging during a vacation. I say this for three reasons: 1. The property is less B&B, and more akin to sharing someone’s home with them, which is fine if that is what you are okay with and looking for. This isn’t fine if the house is advertised as a bed and breakfast. There are two dwellings on the property, and the host said she lived in a separate building, but I think by that she just meant she slept in a separate building; she seemed do most of her productive living time in the house, which makes it feel like you are using someone else’s home. On the one evening I did spend at the property, she watched TV in the living room, and I had to move her ‘personal’ clothing from the laundry room to be able to do my own laundry. The house was cluttered with the last couple of decades of their living—trinkets, personal artifacts, etc…Again, nothing outright wrong, but it doesn’t make for the B&B feel. Frankly, the whole experience was as if I showed up at a random person’s house, they made me breakfast the next day, and then said it was a bed and breakfast because there are waffles in the morning. 2. When I approached the host about misrepresenting the house as a B&B vice just a room in a house, they were not willing to negotiate a refund of any of the rental price. While this was totally acceptable from a contractual standpoint and abided by the terms of the agreement, it was not good business practice. The host likely will not work with you. 3. The host was chatty and will spend lots of time in the house near the occupants. If you want privacy—as you would get in a B&B, you won’t get it here. -- Patrick

  • We really liked the rural location, beautiful mountain views. Judy was a fantastic host and cook. Great breakfasts. Would stay there again if we're in the area. Sam and Sharon

  • It was my first time staying in someone's home, so I was a little nervous even though it was a bed and breakfast. But Judy was an excellent host, very friendly, and welcomed us to relax as if we were in our own home. The master bedroom suite was very private and had a view of mountains and horses. Really enjoyed staying here.

  • The room was just as expected from the listing! Be sure to confirm if breakfast is included beforehand. The night we were in Arlee, there was a lot of smoke from the surrounding fires so it was warm in the house (no AC) and we were not able to open the windows, but Judy did have an air filter in the room for us which was very helpful. When we woke up in the morning we were able to see the beautiful surrounding area. Judy offered insight on the area, things to see and was very welcoming!

  • Judy was definitely the best Airbnb place we ever had on our Roadtrip from Minneapolis to Seattle. The "Russian Olive" was so nice. I didn't even noticed that is was an Bed and Breakfast place and want to thanks Judy as well for her hospitality. It was also a pleasure to talk to you as a friend and hope we are going to see each other again when we come back to visit Montana a second time. Thank you so much!

  • Judy is an extremely outgoing host who will enjoy interaction with all guests. It is clear this sweet woman is a nurturer and loves meeting people. She is naturally chatty and outgoing. The home is wonderfully clean and comfortable. The updated home is situated in the most beautiful valley. The views are breathtakingly spectacular in every direction. A small window in the bedroom allowed a view of the full moon over the mountains. Breakfast was provided as stated and Judy will accommodate guests schedule . We enjoyed scrambled eggs and turkey bacon. The home made scones were an extra treat! We encourage travelers to make their needs known in regards to access to the kitchen/living area etc. We wish that we would have asked earlier about using the refrigerator or making coffee or tea, and an orientation about where to find an extra blanket etc. Thank you for the wonderful weekend Judy!

  • Overall, we enjoyed our visit with Judy. Her home is lovely, our room was cozy and comfortable. Judy is warm and makes you feel right at home! Her property is gorgeous, situated with an outstanding view of mountains and farms. That said, we sadly weren't huge fans of our breakfast, which lacked the quality we've come to expect at similar B&Bs.

    Megan2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This home was in a beautiful setting, surrounded by farmland but sadly the views were obscured due to smoke from the fires. Judy made us feel so at home and was warm, kind and attentive. Breakfast was fantastic and made with healthy ingredients. The scones were to die for! • Judy was very communicative prior arrival in making sure we arrive in her place. The Russian Olive was an amazing place to stay in, and house was very welcoming. The place was perfect for our family of 7, and we had the best night there in our whole trip to Yellowstone from Vancouver, BC. Both the host and the house was amazing, highly recommended.

    Fan2014-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was nice. The location was perfect because we had to be in Arlee, Missoula, St Ignatius and Polson. The scenery was lovely. Lots of different possible configurations of the home/sleeping arrangements. It was really hot when we were there, and even though it was really warm at times (no AC), it did cool off nicely at night. The host was around a lot which was both beneficial but also lacked privacy at times. We had three small children with us and that worked out well. There were plenty of kid plates/silverware, a high chair, and pack and play.

This private room is located on the edge of town and country in the heart of the Mission Valley. In 35 minutes, guests could choose to visit "Big city" Missoula to the south or experience panoramic views of Flathead Lake to the north. Easily accessible from Hwy. 93. A private bathroom with a shower is adjacent to the room.

St. Ignatius is home to many farmers and ranchers; local food abounds. A couple of blocks away is an ice cream shop, the Golden Yoke Creamery, serving homemade ice cream and the local farmers markets is every Friday from 5-7PM during the summer.

  • Shay and her family (husband and son) are wonderful super easygoing hosts. The room is quiet, peaceful and clean. The bed is super comfortable; you are sure to get a good nights sleep. One of the best parts about my stay was eating Shay's homegrown tomatoes and squash that she picked from her garden and offered to me. Best tomatoes I have every had. I am pretty selective when it comes to airbnb and I would highly recommend this place and stay here again.

  • The house had six bedroom spaces which was perfect for our grown children and their families. The house was near the creek so was secluded although easily accessible but a little hard to find. The yard needed some TLC but the weather was rainy and cold when we were there so did not use the pool or the yard. We wished there was a guidebook as the house was filled with personal items including food/refrigerator supplies that we were unsure whether they were meant to be used or even fresh enough. We also did not know what was required of us as far as checkout. For instance: we left the garbage in the house hoping the owners would be there soon but leaving it outside with the bears, we did not think was a viable option.

This fully furnished custom home located on a 160 acre ranch and surrounded by public land has three bedroom suites with private bath, two bedrooms with shared bath. It sleeps 8. Maximum comfort summer and winter with a geothermal heating/cooling system. Stupendous views of the mountains. The perfect stop between Glacier and Yellowstone parks. For guests' convenience, a free laundry service is provided: pick up by 10 am and return by 6 pm.
Unique opportunity to sample life in rural Montana, yet be 15 minutes from the city of Missoula, with many activities and great restaurants. From the ranch you have miles of trails in the mountains. The East Fork of Finley Creek crosses the ranch and in the summer small trout live in the deep holes. Bird watching may give you a glimpse of bald eagles and red tail hawks, mountain blue birds and other species. This is a working ranch with cows in the summer and a family of three Shetland ponies who graze near the house. We are on the Flathead Indian Reservation and the small town of Arlee a few miles north offers an art gallery and coffee shop which is the heart of the community. Near Arlee a Buddhist retreat center and peace garden is always open to visitors. The National Bison Range is also very close.
This valley is very peaceful because most of the land is national forest and wilderness area. The beauty and serenity of nature are wonderful to experience.

  • The group was so pleased with their stay at Helene's Ranch Vacation Home. Helene was very friendly and the home was really clean. Everyone loved their stay! Thank you Helene!

  • We planned a trip to Missoula for a family reunion and thought it would be nice if 4 couples and 3 toddlers could all stay in a home together for the night and drive to our respective home destinations the next day. The cougar ranch with its five bedrooms seemed perfect even though we needed only four. We could talk in the evening and then have breakfast together. Helene had asked if we could check in after 4 PM because of prior guests. I explained we would be later because that would be in the middle of the reunion, but would be no problem for us. Unfortunately, my sister’s cat became ill and needed specific, timely meds, so she brought him alone in his cat carrier. We arrived about 7:30 PM and were all tired, but when Helene learned of the cat, she did not want us to stay. She called Air BNB to get advice or perhaps another location for us to stay. We waited outside for about 1 ½ hours in the cold and all patience on both sides was rapidly dissipating. By 9 PM, there was no resolution despite efforts at negotiation. Helene decided she did not want any of us to stay and we were fine with that if we could get a refund. She refused because she did not know how to get it from Air BNB. Three families did stay the night and the fourth had to leave to find other accommodations. The property was clean and as advertised except for 2 green capsules found on the bedroom floor that we left on the pool table upon departure. We left in the in the morning without further interaction to meet the fourth couple for breakfast. Because of all the negative interaction upon arrival, I would never stay there again nor recommend it to other travelers.

  • Our stay went well. Probably could have used some more lights along the road, as we arrived at night and it was really dark in rural Montana. I used the stay for extended family attending a wedding and I wouldn't consider the house elderly friendly with all the different levels, spiral staircase and sunken tubs. It was nice to have a place to gather and share a meal.

    Becky2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a spacious, rustic setting for your family or several couples, and want to be in a wide open area with beautiful pastures and mountains visible through endless glass windows, this is your place. Huge spaces to spread out and relax, talk, play games or pool, fully loaded kitchen, big separate entertainment center. Great value for the money. My whole family really loved this home. Thanks for everything, Helene.

  • We had a wonderful stay. It was just as described, and Helene was a great host. She met us when we arrived, gave us a tour of the place, and the rest of the time she was very responsive, friendly, and considerate. About the place: we loved being able to cook in such a well-stocked kitchen. The hot tub was wonderful. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. And the scenery! We already want to go back. Highly recommend.

  • This home was amazing! A beautiful home fully equipped with towels, kitchenware, games, and comfortable beds. Fantastic scenery and friendly cows. The host was very friendly and helpful -- she gave us great tips for food and hiking in the area. Host lives nearby in a separate house and was super willing to pop over to give advice. I would definitely stay here again.

Are you looking for a cabin in Montana? Foothill Farm Cabin is located on an organic farm in St. Ignatius, Montana, 45 minutes north of Missoula, Montana en route to Flathead Lake and Glacier National Park. The cabin was built with reclaimed lumber and has exposed post and beam wooden joinery. With views of the Bison Range to the west and the Mission Mountains to the east, the cabin is a very peaceful place.
  • We had a great time at the property! The location was perfect for what we needed, the place was clean and had all amenities promised, and Ben was accommodating. He answered when we needed something very promptly and was very unobtrusive. The view was incredible and the front porch was a winner. I would highly recommend this property and if and when I'm back in the area I will definitely be renting again!!!

  • Loved this cabin. It was the ideal place for me and my boyfriend to relax. Wonderful to stay on a working farm and see the chickens roaming around and the mama and baby cows out our front porch! The front porch was lovely with great seating and views of the mountains. Indoor we spent a lot of time cooking and relaxing. They had plenty of puzzles and info on things to do. Abundance of options to sleep with two bedrooms and a loft. Ben and his family were very kind and gracious to open their home to us!

  • We are a family of 4-parents and 2 adult children from the east coast seeing the National Parks. We arrived in Missoula late after a full day in Yellowstone. My Apple Maps directions were off so I called Cindy to verify-Her husband Mike came into town and gave us a personal escort to their beautiful home!! Their home was awesome-our oldest son scored the feather bed:) but ours was perfect too!! The linens and towels were all very nice. The place was spotless. Cindy had tea/coffee and snacks for us; juice and muffins for breakfast- just what we needed. Cindy even left personal care items in case we forgot anything- she thought of everything. The view is magnificent. This was the perfect place to stay- only wish we were there longer!

Perhaps a weekend getaway from Missoula is on your list? We are excited to host you here!
You will observe breathtaking views in every direction.
  • We can't recommend The Loft enough. The views, the hospitality, the beautiful, yet simple, accommodations, the wildflowers, the horses, the cows grazing in the distance all contributed to a lovely and memorable weekend experience. Jack's place is an absolute must if you are planning a trip in the area. The view of the Mission Mountains alone is worth the stay. An added bonus is that Jack is extremely hospitable and very accommodating. We traveled with two toddlers, and Jack made sure the kids had everything they needed. The Loft was well stocked with coffee, juice, snack bars and a full kitchen for cooking in. There are also good restaurants to check out in the area, which Jack included in a list of things to see and do. Other things we enjoyed at Jack's place: bird watching, sunset viewing, and relaxing in front of the gorgeous view of the mountains. Other things we enjoyed visiting in the area: National Bison Refuge, Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge, and driving HWY 200 along the Flathead River. Breathtaking!

  • Nothing but great things to say about this place. The hosts we're super friendly and helpful about things to do and see in the area. Will plan to visit again and spend more time.

  • We found this place to be very clean, attractive and comfortable, with everything we needed to cook and relax and even have our grandson for a sleepover. There is a nice deck with a great view plus lots of other outdoor seating areas. Jack was a good communicator and we will stay here again if we visit.

    Kathleen2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jack was a great host. Check-in was easy and thorough, and he gave us lots of privacy. The views from the loft are completely breathtaking. Our last evening there, we saw a double rainbow over the mountains. The loft is clean, comfortable, cozy, and quiet. We asked Jack about hikes in the area and ended up taking a couple of great hikes. We had an awesome time and highly recommend this location if you want to get away from it all and rejuvenate yourself - body, mind, and soul.

  • This location was so charming, quiet and peaceful! There was nothing like sitting out by the fireplace at dusk watching the sun casting beautiful colors on the Mission Mountain range. And in the mornings we watched several deer walk across the field while we sipped coffee on the deck. It's conveniently located to the Bison Range and other local attractions. We highly recommend them!

Enjoy this sunny bedroom with queen bed, private bath, sunken tub/shower, and gorgeous view of Mission peaks. Great place to relax between visits to Yellowstone and Glacier parks. Guests have full use of well-appointed kitchen, living room with pool table, hot tub on east deck of the house, charcoal (URL HIDDEN) the middle of a 160-acre ranch located 15 minutes north of Missoula. Nightly rate of $85 includes gourmet breakfast.
This 5000 square foot home is located in the middle of a 160 acre ranch, off a private road. It offers privacy and quiet in a wonderful setting, with a creek meandering through. The owner does not live in this bed and breakfast home, but she has a home nearby and manages the ranch. We have horses, cows and 2 Himalayan goats. Excellent fly fishing in the area, with a choice of several rivers. In the winter we have miles of crosscountry ski trails and 6 downhill ski resorts to sample. In the summer guests may visit Glacier Park ( a day outing), the National Bison Range, Garnet ghost town, hot springs and enjoy Flathead Lake which is the largest body of water west of the Great Lakes.
This small valley in the south Mission Mountains area is unique because it has a limited amount of private land. Most of the area comprises wilderness and national forest, yet it's very close to Missoula, about 15 minutes to town.

  • Helenes place is amazing. The ranch is beautiful with sweeping views and the adorable animals that roam the grounds. The lodge is something out of a magazine and the aesthetic is exactly what you want in Montana. The hot tub out back is a great amenity, especially at night under the Montana stars. The room was clean and comfortable with gorgeous views and the bathroom was tidy and unique. Helene herself is a very kind and thoughtful host. She was communicative and arranged a late check in for us. We had been stopping in on our way home from a road trip and had accidentally overslept and missed breakfast. She was kind enough to keep delicious pastries out and prepare us a fresh omelet and coffee. We were very appreciate and glad to have a moment to meet her! I would absolutely recommend the Cougar Ranch to anybody passing through or looking for a relaxing getaway.

  • Everything met our expectations. The listing is in line with the experience. We got in late and left early so we didn't get a chance to meet Helene. She was flexible with our schedule changes and even left out a few quick things to grab and go with since we left before breakfast.

  • What. A beautiful place! Helene's ranch is simply picturesque! I would stay again for sure. She was kind to my daughter (which is always very much appreciated!) and also provided wonderful breakfast for us and kept my girl in mind, serving juice and hot chocolate. I would say to travelers that are vacationing but still need to do work that requires Internet, streaming was not possible for me...it was also very warm in our room, so given the option in the future I would definitely stay in the downstairs during a hot spell.

    Nicky2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Helene's ranch was wonderful. Helene welcomed us upon arrival, showed us around the property, and even got us set up to do a load of laundry at the house! The ranch is beautiful and the room we slept in was extremely clean, cozy, and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot-tub and watching the sunset and star gazing from the back porch. (We even saw the northern lights and several shooting stars during our evening on the porch). The breakfast prepared by Helene was delicious and we enjoyed chatting with the two other guests during breakfast. We only wished we could have stayed longer. It was peaceful, beautiful, very comfortable and safe. Also, it was a short and easy drive to Missoula. We stayed here on our way from Yellowstone to Glacier, and it was the perfect 'in-between' for us. I hope to visit again.

My place is great for couples, solo adventurers, and families and grand-parents (with kiddos). The"Birdhouse" cabin has been lovingly restored...a piece of old Montana that will embrace your presence with its history. Located 40 minutes north of Missoula, the Mission Valley is home of the Mission Mountain Wilderness and the National Bison Range.A two-room one-of-a-kind cabin to sleepover on your way to Flathead Lake (40 minutes) and Glacier National Park to the north (2 hours).
Memorable views of the Mission Mountains, sunrises, sunsets, moon-rises, moonsets from an authentic l880's cabin, will make you feel a part of our love for Montana. Take a ride in the Bison Range among the herd of buffalo roaming free among antelope, bear, elk and birdlife. Visit the Amish General Store just down the road from the cabin. Enjoy the stillness and quiet of the mountains and the Mission Lake. Float the Flathead River. Hiking, fishing, biking, swimming all in area. Use cabin as "home base" for trips into Missoula, a unique and vibrant University town, a dozen breweries, fine and local dining, hiking, mountain biking, floating, fishing, cultural events, music festivals, theatre, shopping, art galleries.
My neighborhood is unique because I live on the Flathead Indian Reservation and also live amongst an Amish and German Baptist Community. Come see how Amish live, their schoolhouse, general store and farming community. Visit the Ninepipe's Museum of Early Montana and view its impressive collection of early western art, Native American beadwork and artifacts, as well as a life-size diorma of wildlife and a Native American camp.
  • If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is definitely the place to stay. It's like taking a little trip back in time, no distractions, a trip away from the hustle and bustle. And so many places near by to visit, just down the road is a Amish store which was unique. And also an Amish farm right next door. Shopping is so Close by in Missoula, and also so many little cafes and shop along the way. The hostess, Dorothy, is an amazing woman who we could have spent hours just chatting with. She met us at the cabin gave us a quick tour and assured us that if we needed anything to let her know. There was snacks and refreshments set out by our wonderful hostess, which was greatly appreciated. Dorothy also has many suggestions for activities in the area. We are recommending this quaint little cabin to our family and friends, and have decided that this will be our yearly tradition!

    Sherry2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough about what a great place this is to stay. It's a little out of the way, but that is part of its charm. The views are magnificent - this is one of those "last best places" of Montana. Dorothy exceeded all my expectations as a hostess. The fridge was well stocked with drinks, the place was immaculate, and she even provided some delicious lemon bread AND homemade jam. It's great part of the world to get to know better. I've been coming to Glacier since 1980, and had never spent much time in the Mission Valley. Perfect location - 30 mins to Missoula, 30 mins to Polson, and just a few minutes to the Bison Range. You can't go wrong staying here - especially as you are staying in a cabin circa 1880s. I give it my highest recommendation!! Thanks Dorothy! Hope to see you again soon!

    Mark2017-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Dorothy's place is quiet, charming and beautiful. It was a great place for us to unplug from our city living and slow down for two days. We loved the location because it is a halfway point between Missoula & Flathead Lake (about 30 mins drive to either destination). The cabin has so much character, was thoughtfully decorated and very clean. There was coffee in the freezer, beverages in the fridge and fresh baked banana bread with huckleberry jam, such a sweet gesture! We loved hanging out on the screened porch with the hammock and porch swing with the old radio playing rock n' roll. Would highly recommend and we hope to stay here again someday!

    Cotie2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a place to restore your balance, unplug and unwind. The cabin is a beautifully restored historic treasure, amazingly solid. It is rustic in feel but with modern amenities. (Guests should know that the bed and bath are a single room, in case privacy is a serious concern for couples.) There is no wifi which was actually a treat! There were wonderful books to read, and lovely places--front porch, back screened porch--to sit and enjoy the amazing views. The location feels secluded but is easily accessible to St. Ignatius, which has everything you need. I hope to return someday.

    Kelly2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a wonderful visit that I changed my travel plans to stay an extra night! Cold beer and snacks awaited me after a long drive and Dorothy had a whole packet of info about local activities that I had told her I was interested in. The next morning I sat on the front porch eating homemade muffins and watching the sun come out over the Mission Mtns. The cabin is cozy and the view is spectacular! You know it's been a great experience when you hug your host goodbye :)

    Kylie2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • As I said in my private note to Dorothy, I would give this place and the entire experience ten stars if I could. I had HIGH expectations after seeing the photos and reading the reviews, and it still managed to exceed them. Dorothy was absolutely delightful and made us feel right at home the minute we walked through the cabin door with fresh baked banana bread and raspberry jam, and a fridge filled with cold drinks. And, a big fan roaring as we happened to be there when it was nearly 100 degrees. The cabin is both very rustic and completely comfortable. There is a lot of great information in the cabin about what to do in the area, and Dorothy was also helpful. She was a fantastic hostess in many ways, including her ability to be both very accessible and completely respectful of our privacy. The main house is a nice distance from the cabin so there is a lot of privacy. Between the mountain view from front porch and the peaceful beauty of the screen porch, you can really dream away the hours. Wish we were still there now! Enjoy everyone!

  • A perfect, magical spot!

    Mary2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are in this area and need a place to stay, look no further! What a unique little cabin this is! This place was beautiful and comfortable, and Dorothy was great! She had banana bread and jelly for us for breakfast, and a fridge full of beer and wine. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and enjoyable! We loved sitting out on the covered porch in the evening with all the lights and the sound of the creek. I wish we could have stayed longer than we were able to because this was such a great place!

  • Judy was one of the nicest ladies you'll ever meet. She made us feel like family. Beautiful home, beautiful area! Her huckleberry biscuits were amazing! You couldn't pick a better place to stay!

  • Judy's place has beautiful views and if you follow the gps. The rooms and bathroom were clean and comfortable. We stopped by and picked up dinner and wine at the Good Food store because we got into Missoula at 5pm. Judy is helpful with tips and ideas to enhance your trip

  • The setting for this place was absolutely gorgeous, at the base of some mountains overlooking the valley and mountains to the other side. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Judy was an absolute gem, extremely helpful and wonderful to talk to. She made a great breakfast as well. You won't be disappointed. • Nothing but amazing things to say about our stay at Helene's. She herself is so kind, welcoming, and thoughtful. She left homemade bread, fresh milk, eggs, and even a cake. Feeding her horses and enjoying time in the hot tub are highlights of the stay in this gorgeous location. I highly recommend her place to anyone and can say myself I can't wait to return in the future. Take advantage of this wonderful find.

  • My stay at Helene's ranch was absolutely delightful. I was originally looking for just a quick overnight stay in the area, but Helene's listing intrigued me with the idea of experiencing a real ranch. I'm happy to say that the experience exceeded my expectations! The house itself is situated on a dirt access road which gives it a certain charm. You'll be greeted by cows, ponies and several canine ranch hands. On my arrival, Helene was ready to greet me and show me around. Once settled, I was able to take a walk on the property and take some unique pics. After a restful night's sleep, Helene prepared a wonderful breakfast. It was more than I could eat at one sitting, so Helene sent me off with some delicious breakfast pastries that I enjoyed on the road later that day. I highly recommend Helene's place for a short or extended stay when you are in the Missoula area. The entire house is also available to rent if you happen to be traveling with a group of friends or family. Thank you Helene for being such a kind person and wonderful host!

  • Helene's place is gorgeous! It's a little bit out of the city, but close enough to drive in for a bite to eat. We only stayed for one night, but we definitely enjoyed it! The hot tub was our favorite part—being able to look at the stars was absolutely wonderful. Helene was also extremely accommodating about our early departure time. She left delicious breakfast fixins in the refrigerator for our breakfast in the morning. If passing back through Missoula, we would for sure stay here again.

  • We loved staying at Helene's. She was really sweet to us and gave us travelling tips for the area and cooked an amazing omlet for breakfast! The property is so spacious with a lot of your own space, we loved having a soak in the hot tub at dark.

  • I stayed at Helene's ranch in Missoula on my way back from Glacier National Park. The ranch was something out of a dream! Not only was the ranch house and the room I stayed in beautiful but the surroundings were quite captivating as well. Helene was more than accommodating. I arrived much later than predicted but she was still there to greet me with a friendly smile. In the morning Helene prepared a delicious breakfast and gave advice for the area. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone! Thanks again, Helene!

  • Helene is an excellent host and she has a beautiful home. It is extremely clean and tidy and the views are sensational. This was a great experience and anyone looking to stay near Missoula will not be disappointed with this choice. The kitchen has everything you need and Helene has thought of all amenities to make the stay enjoyable. Helene is an instant communicator and very kind and interesting to boot. Thank you Helene!

  • A special memory at a special place. Serene, story book like atmosphere at the edge of a great forest. Birds singing in the old growth trees. Miniature horses grazing in the sunlit meadow. Helen made spiced cake, scrambled eggs with sausage, Rustic bread, croissants, French coffee (ooolala) cream fresh, fruit bowl . Total satiation of the senses. Helen was warm and accommodating sending us on our way with leftovers like a doting family member. Thinking of booking an artist writers retreat in the fall. Ideal for a yoga Retreat. Highly recommended. Helen gave us a free upgrade to accommodate my sister climbing any stairs

  • Helene is a marvelous hostess. The house, designed by a well know architect from the area, is a good example of 1980s spacious, upscale, ranch architecture allowing nature in with lots of floor to ceiling windows in the living areas. The hot tub on the deck was a wonderful bonus! It is situated in a quiet, country location with good access to Missoula. I will stay again on my next trip to the area.
