Sala de conciertos
“After a devastating fire in 2009, The Georgia Theatre was rebuilt and reopened in August 2011, reclaiming its place as a keystone of the Athens music scene. HISTORY: The Georgia Theater is part of the Downtown Athens National Register Historic District and also the Downtown Local Historic District, which was designated in 2006. It was built as the Elite Theater in 1935 on the "foundation" of the original YMCA which had been constructed on that site in 1889. The upper part of that YMCA building was demolished in 1920 and it then served over the years as the Majestic Hotel, Masonic Temple, Dorsey Furniture Company, and Burnstein Brothers Furniture Company until the Elite Theater was built. It is unclear how much of the original YMCA building was incorporated into the Elite Theater. As a live music venue, The Georgia Theatre has been the site of Live performances from a long list of acclaimed bands Music videos such as R.E.M.'s "Shiny Happy People" (1992) and John Mayer's "No Such Thing" (2002) Live album recordings from Corey Smith (2008) and the Derek Trucks Band (2004) IN THE NEWS: One of Georgia's "Best Music History Sites," AAA Living, September/October 2018 From visitathensga.com”

“Great location for lunch and breakfast. They serve breakfast all day and have the craziest donuts, such as the Elvis Presley with banana and peanut butter, cinnamon toast crunch donut, a great red velvet and many other pastries. ALSO, make sure to look at the wall behind the cash register because if you order in the fashion it tells you to, you get a 10% discount. So, don't be surprised if the person in line in front of you sings their order, or does jumping jacks while they order, or . . . . they may even try to hug the person in line behind them. ”

Or if you want a light snack, try the SALCHIPAPAS. It is a great way to eat fries. And you are just a short two block walk from the Mure House. ”

Night Club
“The 40 Watt Club is a music venue in Athens, Georgia. Along with CBGB, the Whisky a Go Go, and selected others, it was instrumental in launching American punk rock and new wave music. The 40 Watt Club was the primary performance space for numerous "Athens bands", including Pylon, R.E.M., Love Tractor, Dreams So Real, Guadalcanal Diary, The Primates, Modern Skirts, and others. Its DIY ethos and informality were instrumental in the fostering of punk rock and a "scene" in Athens, GA. In more recent years, the club has been the home-base for such nationally renowned local bands as of Montreal, Reptar, Drive-By Truckers, and The Whigs. The club's owner since 1987 has been Barrie Buck. From Wikipedia”
