Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond.
Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond. The Houseboat has a comfy queen bed and a screened porch complete with two antique rocking chairs. The River Houseboat is often preferred because it is located close to the main Stone Barn and parking lot. The Stone Barn is open 24 hours and has a hot shower, toilet, and common room with internet and books. Keep in mind that because this cabin is located at the base of the mountain it is not as secluded as the other cabins. The Stone Barn has a grill outside and a full kitchen inside that guests are welcome to use. There is also a fully equipped Rustic Kitchen located up in the woods. PLEASE NOTE -The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are located a one minute walk away in the Stone Barn -There is a small bonfire pit located near the cabin. -Candles are not allowed in the cabins Once you book we ask that you keep us updated on your arrival time so that we can be sure to be ready and waiting for you!   We ask that all guests arrive before dark   Guests arriving after 10pm will be required to pay an additional $20 late check in fee in cash upon arrival. We apologize but we must enforce this even if you are late due to circumstances out of you control. We do not accept check-ins on Tuesday or Wednesday but message us if you want to stay through the week and are having trouble booking. It’s simple living at its best. We're just over one hour from NYC but local folks love us too. We are an easy, inexpensive "staycation" and many use us frequently as their guest "bedroom" when out of town family or friends come. We offer a unique setting for your summer get-a-way or family reunion. There is a communal Rustic Kitchen on the top of the mountain ideally situated between the Pagoda cabin, Mtn. Laurel cabin and Summit cabin. The kitchen has cookware, plates, french press, utensils, a stove, grill, coolers with ice, olive oil, salt/pepper, drinking water and running water! Lighting is limited and provided by LED lanterns - we always encourage people to bring their own additional lighting.  There are three large designated fire pits on the property. Some cabins also have their own fire pits which is noted in their individual descriptions. Fires are not allowed to be made in undesignated places! Only YOU can prevent forest fires!  Fire wood is not available this season so please pre-plan and purchase wood before arriving. Wood can be purchased at many places including Stop and Shop. Please Note per Connecticut state law - firewood cannot be brought in from out of the state.  Upon arrival we will provide you with a map and your own cooler with ice. We ferry our guests and their belongings up to their cabin at check in and upon check out but please remember that during your stay you will be traveling on foot! We cannot allow cars to drive up and down the mountain. At the minimum if you are a large party you can initially drive your car up to unload but will have to park at the base before dark. Please remember this when packing and planning your initial grocery provision trip. Most of the cabins are a 10-25 minute walk through the woods, depending on your speed. We do not allow private cars to drive up the mountain. NO EXCEPTIONS! We restock ice and other goods daily and thus try to make ourselves as available and accommodating to changing needs as possible - we are are on the property 24 hours a day in case of emergency. (Website hidden by Airbnb) Important Things to Note -Unfortunately we are not able to provide breakfast this season. If you are interested in a farm fresh breakfast during your stay you will need to request this at the time of booking and the rate is $30 a person. Our breakfast is organic/non gmo and includes a grand spread of granola, eggs made to order with veggies. You must request a time at booking -Verizon wireless is the only network to have service throughout the property. Nearly all other providers have service on the top of the mountain where the majority of our cabins are located but it is still undependable at best.  -Dogs are not allowed to stay in any of our cabins unless they are service animals. -Please be advised that we are not solely an airbnb Host; we are a working farm and while we aim to accommodate you as best as possible, there are sometimes other events going on that may affect your stay. We recommend you check our calendar of events prior to booking.  -There are three outdoor showers, one is located near the stone barn, two are located near the Rustic Kitchen area.  - An outhouse that is cleaned weekly is located near the Rustic kitchen, Mtn. Laurel cabin, Summit cabin and Pagoda cabin and a two room state of the art composting toilets are shared between the Solar cabin and Log cabin - both a one minute walk away - We have a wilderness camp that runs Monday - Friday from 9am - 3pm : Campers and staff respect the privacy of the cabins but you might see some groups of children building forts of stalking animals through the forest  - Please be aware that depending on rain fall the property is at risk of drought in the late summer. This can sometimes cause the pond levels to drop making it less scenic for some. - None of the cabins except the River House Boat and Little House have electricity- fans are provided in these cabins - There is a Stop and Shop grocery store located 2.5 miles from the farm where all groceries can be purchased. - If you arriving via metro north you want to get off at Bridgeport and from there you can either Uber or after booking request our resident Jeff's number who provides rides $80 round trip or $50 one way. -Candles are not allowed in the cabins - We do have wi-fi in the main stone barn but it can be undependable
Though there is lots to do in the towns of Newtown, Monroe, Easton and Fairfield, surrounding Sticks and Stones Farm, most guests prefer to kick back, stay put and enjoy the quiet energy of the farm setting.
  • We had a lovely time at Sticks and Stones (despite the year's most insistent rain storm). It was a great place to curl up with a book and just listen to the sounds of the pond. We also were able to pick up the main barn's wi-fi signal from the houseboat, which was an added bonus. On our last morning, we finally got to take a (relatively dry) walk, and wish we had had more time to explore the beautiful property. Lots of great/interesting restaurants nearby, including killer breakfast spot King's Breakfast & Lunch (we went twice!). Definitely a fun compromise between full-on camping and more traditional lodging.

  • Our family stay at the Sticks and Stones Farm was absolutely wonderful. Falling asleep to the sound of frogs and water fall as fireflies danced beyond our window was simply magical and makes you realize how much we sacrifice living in the city. Our lovely hosts served delicious home made breakfast from their chickens and garden directly to the table and we enjoyed their company immensely. We will be back again.

  • Beautiful grounds/setting!

    Christine2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sam made sure our stay at Sticks and Stones was great! We stayed in the river houseboat, and the view from our little porch was absolutely sublime. There was a little flower arrangement in our cabin upon arrival with flowers that were hand-picked from the farm itself which I thought was a lovely touch. The overall vibe of Sticks and Stones can't be beat, very laid back and a great place to relax.

    Sarah2018-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Feel lucky to have experienced this space. Truly beautiful environment and people. Sticks and Stones blew my mind. Thank you!

  • A truly unique and special place. The pictures don't do this place justice. We stayed for 2 nights in the Boathouse and it was a magical experiencec. The whole time we were there we felt so relaxed. Samanta and Tim were the best hosts. We were welcomed very warmly and get anything we needed. They has created a sanctuary of peaceful energy. Thank you for making our stay special. We highly recommended and definitely going to be back very soon.

    Magdalena2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the farm on the house boat was awesome! We loved being able to feel secluded but have easy access to the stone barn kitchen and washrooms. Also enjoyed exploring the property and finding it delightful. Celin and her family were very welcoming and we will be sure to visit again, and with lots of friends!

  • JoJo & Phil's place was a pleasure to stay at. The space was quite and cozy, and their hospitality was warm and appreciated!

    Aaron2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • JoJo and Phil's place was quite the retreat! The loft felt like home and the bed was very comfortable. The yoga space was beautifully decorated and the pool was an added treat. We did not get the privilege to meet JoJo but Phil was a pleasure to be around and their son was very friendly. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you for a great weekend retreat!

    Maggie2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • I needed a place to retreat for a night in order to plan and write. This was perfect for that. It was a quiet location and offered a creative space. The bed was extremely comfortable too.

    Bianca2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a delightful time here. I brought my one year old daughter and it was a perfect chill spot to get out of NYC for a weekend. The loft is very airy and lots of light, the yard has a playground. Newtown also has some great gems for kids including the Everwonder museum and dickenson. Last but not least, we had the treat of doing a kid-friendly yoga class with Jojo that was a total highlight.

    Brett2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • JoJo and Phil were kind, friendly, and generous hosts, including free yoga class, lending us a guitar, and generally being helpful and present for all of our needs. The entire family was great, and the space and surroundings were very beautiful and well-maintained. Would love to return in the future!

    Sam2018-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Love this place!! Jojo and Phil are terrific.

  • We fell in love with the super-efficient layout and design of William's AirBnB apartment. Wished we could have stayed longer. William was there to greet us when we arrived and we even were able to enjoy playing catch with one of the cute dogs. Enjoyed an excellent meal at the Spinning Wheel which is only five minutes away! Loved listening to the birds singing in the morning. Thanks William!!! The Liucci Family

  • Bill is a great host. He is always available for any questions or needs you might have. The room is cozy and the pictures are very accurate. Everything is new, clean and charming. The property is amazing, very private and offers beautiful trails and hiking. The location is centrally located to the trains to NYC, the sound, Westport, and many of the other charming NewEngland towns. We had a great experience at the Huckleberry house! Thanks Bill!

    Kari2016-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Huckleberry Quarters was a lovely place to stay in a beautiful, historic, and quiet neighborhood. William was very responsive and left some milk, eggs, juice, and a few other items for breakfast. He didn’t miss a detail. The place was clean and is pretty easy to get to. We would love to stay again!

    Kimberly2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean, great assortment of utensils for cooking, beautiful piece of property, nice and private, and overall a really great stay! Will did an excellent job of making sure we had everything we could need, without infringing upon our stay. Would definitely stay again.

    Zach2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Best small space with maximum charm. Rural, wooded setting, with five friendly dogs. Bill's attention to detail inside is beyond amazing. There are sweet amenities everywhere. The frig had all the refrigerated things we needed for breakfast (including eggs and cream) with fruit, bread, French Press coffee and cereal nearby. Candles everywhere made for a romantic atmosphere. Hiking trails, restaurants and the cool Mark Twain library are nearby, and Redding is a lovely country town that could be in the northern reaches of Vermont. You will enjoy yourself for sure!!! 11/8/17

Three decades of tasteful renovations — re-constructed with almost 100% re-purposed material from the property — have rendered this converted barn magazine-worthy. Set-back from the road on one acre of wooded land with a babbling brook, 353Brookside is a modern home that maintains its rustic allure. Tall ceilings, exposed wooden beams, dozens of windows, and eclectic furniture make the barn's charm immediately obvious. Perfect for romantic get-aways, events, retreats, family gatherings, and more
Access to the entire home and 1 acre of land! The barn was built in the early 1900s to house the Ox that built the dam down the road, hence the thick oak floors. The second and third floor was constructed by re-arranging the barm's giant beams horizontally instead of vertically. Almost all of the many abstract art pieces on the walls were painted by my mom and grandma. Everything has been modernized and we keep it very clean!
Quiet, quaint, peaceful neighborhood with friendly neighbors. Easy access to nature. Very close to grocery stores.
  • A gorgeous home in a wonderful location. Spacious, cozy and beautifully-decorated. Clean and comfortable with wonderful amenities. Davis was a great host and we had a wonderful Christmas!!

    Victoria2017-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • You will not be disappointed if you are lucky enough to stay in this property. It really is amazing in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed the space and the outdoor area. Went for lots of walks and hung out in the backyard by the stream a lot. So close to everything, very walkable with lots of places to get food, spirits and goodies. We got to go to the beach where we had so much fun playing in the sand and relaxing. It was a great escape from the big city and close enough to be a perfect weekend getaway.

    Michelle2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing host, location and home. Better than description or photos. Being a local I know the area like the back of my head. Close to everything (shopping, beaches, bars, restaurants, train station) and yet total private. The home is one that anyone would dream of owning. Value is incredible and Davis, the host, quick to respond and most helpful. Best deal in Fairfield County. Don’t look anywhere else. 5 stars. We will be back!!!

    John2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very unique house with a lot of care put into it. Spacious but still cozy and confortable. Great communication from Davis.

    Jeremy2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Davis and his home are lovely! It's a cozy, but roomy house that is thoughtfully decorated.

  • What a beautiful place to stay. Totally tranquil and serene. The accommodation was beautiful with plenty of space. It was lovely to have a full kitchen and be able to cook a meal. I would come back in a heartbeat. Just wish we could have stayed longer. Cathy was great to communicate with and everything was easy to manage.

    Gayle2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • I spent my birthday weekend with my boyfriend here - this place might have been my favorite Airbnb place I've ever stayed! Cathy welcomed us with a huge basket of delicious pastries, and showed us around her magical place surrounded by beautiful nature. She was very accommodating and welcoming, and most of all her attention to details really made us feel like home. The space we stayed was above the beautiful yoga studio, also had a fire pit where we spent a night watching stars(there were so many!) and fireflies while listening to night birds chirping. It was so peaceful and breathtaking. The place had everything we needed, from comfy bed to all the kitchen equipments. Cathy's family was away while we stayed so she kindly offered to use her swimming pool, which was perfect for the sunny day. We couldn't believe such place exist so close from the city (1.5-2hours from NYC), and I'm hoping to visit back very very soon. Thank you so much Cathy!

    Monica2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Cathy's retreat space! She was very kind and prompt in all her communications. She welcomed us with fresh local eggs and a bowl of fruit, which was a nice treat! She gave us a tour of the apartment, the yoga studio and the property and made us feel very welcome. Also, since her family was going to be away for the full day during our stay, she welcomed us to swim in her lovely salt water pool, as very nice gift on a very hot day! The bed is comfortable, and the kitchen and living space was just right for a retreat for a couple. The deck off the kitchen is large and was a great way to be outside and have privacy as it does not face the family's house. The family were all kind, and left us to ourselves unless we approached them. There is an additional apartment in this building but when we were there, the renter was away for the weekend, and left us some treats in the fridge so we didn't mind at all. The yoga studio is very nice, there is music and a dvd player and projector if you want to watch a film (we went digital free for our retreat though). Also, there is an infrared sauna guests can use as well. Over all we had a very relaxing retreat, and time in the woods and Cathy was a very gracious host.

    Tagan2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect retreat space to enjoy a relaxing weekend with my two girlfriends. There are a few small trails behind the house that we explored, and Huntington State Park is less than 10 minutes away with some great longer trails. Cathy's yoga studio was a lovely added bonus. We're considering making this a yearly getaway! Thanks, Cathy!

    Jennifer2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at the "Serenity in Redding" was magical and much too short! Everything about the space was welcoming, tasteful, and let you relax. Our kids were with us on this trip, and they loved exploring the nearby trees, and chit chatting with our attentive and gracious hosts. We loved the details (fresh flowers around; natural decor; cool dishes in kitchen ). My husband and I hope to return again -- maybe this time, on our own -- and just breathe in the quiet air, sip our coffee on the upper deck off the kitchen, and maybe take in a yoga class! Thanks to the Whelehans for a great place to "shake off the city" after traveling through New York the prior week. Loved it!

    Erica2015-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical. I felt the serenity as soon as I stepped in the door. There were flowers and candles and snacks waiting. It's in a beautiful forest with hiking trails and a large deck. I slept better here than in my own bed, even on the first night, which is unusual. Cathy is a great hostess, checking in to make sure things were OK, without hovering. I'm really glad there is such a lovely place to retreat to here in CT. It's a great place to meditate and read and relax.

    Christina2015-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give more than 5 stars for our stay, I would. Cathy's place was truly one of the best Airbnb experiences my family and I have had. It was everything we expected and more- beautiful, scenic, peaceful, the perfect getaway. It is the ideal location for those who love to be surrounded in nature, with many hiking trails and parks near by. As for Cathy's hospitality, it is absolutely unparalleled. Cathy and her family (including two adorable dogs Rosie and Gracie) were so warm, welcoming and kind. Cathy greeted us with some fresh rhubarb bread and strawberries from the market. Her attention to detail is very obvious as it can be seen in every inch of space in the guesthouse, which is lovely, clean, and comfortable (the king bed is so fantastic). We didn't want to leave! Overall a perfect place for a lovely, refreshing weekend away from the city. We can't wait to be back.

An adorable cabin for one person
You will love this one room miniature cabin nestled next to our front pond and the Pootatuck River. It is darling with a 6' long single bed, dresser, lamp, two windows for cross ventilation and a front door that looks out on the pond and waterfall. We provide towels and drinking water in the cabins. PLEASE keep in mind this cabin is very very small and can only accommodate one person whom is LESS than 6 feet tall. The Little House is located between the Stone Barn and River House Boat so while it is easily accessible it is not very private. Please be advised that this cabin has the least amount of privacy. It is located next to our barn that is used for different events throughout the day and night. We cannot guarantee that there will not be something going on during your stay. PLEASE NOTE -The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are located a one minute walk away in the Stone Barn
Though there is lots to do in the town of Newtown, Monroe, Easton and Fairfield, surrounding Sticks and Stones Farm, most guests prefer to kick back, stay put and enjoy the quiet energy of the farm setting.
  • Incredibly sweet property with good vibes, sweet animals, and nice people. LOVED my stay, and will definitely be back!

  • My first visit to Sticks & Stones Farm will certainly not be my last. I stayed in the smallest cabin for 2 nights but could have stayed indefinitely. In addition to being comfortable, cozy, and peaceful, I also made some feline friends. Very cute! A hike up the mountain proved to be a relaxing treat. And, Sam had wonderful coffee and fresh fruit to start the day out perfectly. I look forward to my next visit. -kevin

  • This was a perfect relaxing getaway It was quiet peaceful and beautiful scenery. The hosts were very nice and helpful

    Mark2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for an adventure that is a far cry from the urban City, then Sticks & Stones Farm is the place to go! The lodging is very basic/rustic & not for the faint hearted. Instead it is a charming retreat where you feel very much back to nature. Annie is great- welcoming & warm. We stayed in the larger stone/solar cabin that did have electricity but, as we knew before, had no running water or toilet. We used the compost toilet which was located 5 mins away & was very clean. The cabin was one of the nicest & cosiest we've stayed in, plus had a small stove & huge deck! We didn't see any of the other cabins on the 60 acre property but few have electricity, so be prepared for that. The showers are open air wooden private stalls, which I passed up. Bring your hiking shoes & flashlights as many of the cabins are situated on the moss mountain. They have lots of events going on many weekends of the year & we went on the foraging in nature tour, which was fun & very popular. Staying at Sticks and Stones farm is a real experience & we love the ethics of Annie & Tim. We hope to be back!

    Fiona2013-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at sticks and stones farm! Annie and Tim were so hospitable and lovely to talk to. We enjoyed getting to know David as well and eat his delicious meals! The houseboat was the perfect getaway from New York City life for us. The fall colors were amazing and we really enjoyed exploring all the unique cabins on the mountain, cooking with vegetables from your garden, and kayaking at the nearby pond. It's all we've been talking about since we got back to NYC and we can't wait to go back to sticks and stones in the spring!!! Thanks for everything Annie, Tim and David!

  • Just spent the perfect weekend at Sticks & Stones recording music in the yoga studio above the barn and staying in the Houseboat cabin. We are a 2-piece band that were looking for a weekend retreat to record music, and Tim was very kind to have offered us the Yoga studio to do so. It was perfect for our specific/unique needs, and made for a very inspired creative process that we know will reflect in our music.

  • Annie took care of all of our needs and questions. She was a very welcoming host. Breakfast was hearty and delicious and vegan! We loved the houseboat and are already planning our next trip out. The hills and trails are great for runners and hikers. A wonderful place to rest, relax and contemplate.

    Cody2012-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Annie and Tim are wonderful host and beautiful people who not only made you feel welcome, but also have created a place that make you feel overwhelmingly connected with the nature. They are just very nice people who you feel so comfortable to be around like you have known them forever. My favourite of the stay was the sound of insects and animals at night and walking the labyrinth in the middle of the woods. It's a perfect place for a quiet retreat/getaway. And everything is so clean yet very so homey and not imposing. We had a great time and on the way home, we can't stop talking about the logistics of how we can come again.

Our furnished apartments are brand new and one of a kind in Danbury. We chose our interior decorations to be modern, yet simple, to provide our guests exactly what they need for their stay.
Danbury is one of the largest cities in Connecticut and carries many hidden gems. Throughout the city, you will be able to find many hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants with fantastic Italian food as well.
  • The room was very clean and pretty. Very convenient to the hospital where I worked. The owners were so nice and helpful. The only downfall for me was having to share the room temperature with the other room adjacent to mine. I’m very hot natured. My only other issue where the walls seemed thin due to the being able to smell smells from other rooms. I would definitely stay there again . Niti and Dr. Patel are the sweetest people ever

  • Great hosts with fast response to any question & booking. We booked a 1 bedroom w/ shared kitchen & our flat mates were super nice. One of best experiences leaping into unknown Roomate situation. We were visiting family in ny & ct so it was Super convenient to i84 for our travels while still having high quality windows so we didn’t even hear the highway noise. 👍

Volveremos! :)

  • Lovely little cabin that feels far away while being very close to NYC and a lovely town with lots of restaurants, shops etx.

    Erin2017-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • I had an amazing 10 days at Nina’s house. Beautiful location, very stylish and comfortable house, and extremely communicative host. Thank you!

    Hattie2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was great staying at Nina's cabin. It's right next to her home which is in a suburban neighborhood but it feels secluded and private. It was great getting a chance to chat with her over coffee in the morning as well. The cabin itself is beautiful. The entire front wall of windows rolls open to give a great view of the wooded area behind the property.

    David2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nina's cottage is as it's described: cozy, clean and beautiful. On top of that, Nina is extremely welcoming, easy to communicate and she'll do everything to make you comfortable. I'd highly recommend it for people who seek for a quiet/romantic weekend.

  • A beautiful and special place to stay with loads of artistic charm.

    Joanna2018-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place! My only wish was that we had more time to stay! Still, a quick one night trip left us feeling zen as we returned to the city. The cottage is so cozy and picturesque. Stepping from the cold autumn air and beautiful foliage of this gorgeous property into a perfectly heated warm wooden cabin was like being in a dream. Nina went above and beyond. Though she wasn't in town when we visited, she was reachable immediately and was very concerned about our comfort. Hope we get a chance to come back and meet her on another trip. In the meantime, we were taken very good care of by Jeremy and the lovely Poo! Don't miss your chance to find your center at Nina's amazing cottage.

    Valerie2017-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start... Nina is awesomely welcoming, the location is beautiful, and the cottage is a perfect getaway (as the title suggests). Highly recommended for any single or couple looking to escape whatever it is they want to escape. Before we left, my wife and I were already talking about going back.

Enjoy complete privacy and 500+ square feet of living space in our ground floor suite. There is one king bed, one queen bed, a comfy sectional couch and two toddler airbeds. There is a small kitchenette for simple cooking and an alfresco BBQ patio for bigger cooking. There is plenty of living space both indoors and out.
This is really a nice, cozy apartment - with ample living space! Pull into a private garage that is attached to your suite. There is a full sized refrigerator in the garage you may use. From the garage you enter a serene sun room flooded with bright, natural light. This room is perfect for reading or to enjoy a glass of wine and a quiet chat. The radiant floors are super cozy on your feet during the winter, and year round you can enjoy the great view of the woods. Take a left through french doors into your living room, and stretch out on the large sectional sofa and enjoy a program on the big screen cable TV. Order take out and sit down at your 4 person dining table. We have installed a new kitchenette in this suite, with Keurig coffee service, small countertop air fryer/oven, microwave, mini-fridge and electric griddle (great to make pancakes or grilled cheese sandwiches). There is no stove in the suite. Big cooking is done outside on a good quality gas BBQ grill with side burner; it is for the exclusive use of our guests, and is directly outside your suite, on an alfresco patio with picnic table. The bedroom has a roomy closet and a king bed. The bed can remain a king or can be separated into twins. There is a queen size Murphy bed (wall bed) in the main living room. It can be pulled down as needed. It has a comfortable 10 inch foam mattress with topper. We have two blow up toddler beds (with bedding) that can be placed on the floor, if needed. There are black out curtains for the comfort of those sleeping in the living room. All bed linens are 300 thread count Egyptian cotton. The three piece bathroom has a shower. We have lots of complimentary toiletries to use, if you forget something. Directly outside the sunroom, just steps away, is a large in-ground pool to enjoy from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. The pool is gated for the safety of small children. If you want to take a snooze or read a book and listen to the birds, there is a hammock nestled between two shade trees on the side of the house. There are two swings for the kids. We also have lawn games for the family to enjoy: soccer balls, a croquet set, Frisbee and boccie ball.
Enjoy classic Connecticut country living. We have a gorgeous yard, with three acres of nature, trees and privacy. There are a number of excellent walking and biking trails in Monroe. Good restaurants. The town park has wonderful amenities. However, our back yard is probably all you will need for your stay: hammock, pool, lawn games and guest BBQ. Come and relax!
  • This house is welcoming from the first view in the drive way all the way to the delightful host. The accommodations are roomy. The view out the sunroom is open and beautiful. The rooms where clean and well stocked with welcoming treats. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. I recommend this as a top spot to stay. We will be returning.

  • Marybeth & Aster were a delight; all descriptions listed were accurate and the neighborhood was beautiful and serene. Marybeth made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. This will be our new haven in CT to escape the hustle and bustle of NYC!

    Helana2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Marybeth's place. Everything was great, and the place is really nice. Can't wait to come again in the summer and enjoy the swimming pool.

    Joseph2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were staying at Marybeth and Aster's place for Halloween and this is also our third trip to their home. We had a fantastic time. Marybeth had thoughtfully left a pumpkin, all the carving tools and a LED candle so the kids carved the pumpkin. It was really adorable. We enjoyed beautiful autumn trees and leaves. I feel I was in a fairyland as the golden leaves falling on my shoulders. Marybeth also suggested us to visit the pumpkin patch at Jones family farm. it was spectacular. Thank you Marybeth and Aster again for being extraordinarily kind, thoughtful and hospitable.I can't express enough how much we like the place. The kids were crying on the way home (like every time) because they wanted to go back to the house. I look forward to more trips to come.

    Grace2015-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • My 3 girlfriends and I spent 2 nights here for a weekend getaway. Marybeth contacted us multiple times before our reservation with all important info and recommendations for things to do. She was such a great host. She included so much like water snacks drinks toiletries and more! Our hosts were flexible and gave us so much privacy. It was as though we had the entire property to ourselves. We can't say enough about how great our stay was! Can't wait to come back again. Thanks Marybeth!

    Nancy2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • I contacted Marybeth about a year ago inquiring about her place. I am wedding coordinator of Homespun Weddings, and had a wedding just about 15 minutes away this September of 2015. From the beginning, Marybeth was a superstar, so willing to accommodate and support us in our stay. She really went above and beyond to provide the sense of trust and security needed to house a few staff and the important wedding goods in our vehicles. The suite was perfect - the location was great, and walking into the space was like a breath of fresh air before and after various wedding events. Plenty of space, beautiful setting - we felt so well cared for. Such sweet hosts - we would come back in an instant! Thanks again, Marybeth & Aster, we wish you the best in all your journeys

    Bianca2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We don't have enough good things to say about Marybeth, Aster and their home. They are just absolutely fantastic. This is our 6th (?) visit. In addition to the spectacular swimming pool, we enjoyed breakfast in the sunroom with beautiful view to the yard and desert in the starry sky, with relaxing sounds of cricket chirping. We can't wait to our next trip. Thank you again, Marybeth and Aster.

    Grace2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Marybeth and her husband went above and beyond to help us feel welcome. The rooms were exactly like the pictures - in great condition, and they were thoughtful enough to leave fresh milk for our breakfast options. And the bed is super comfy. I'd definitely stay here again and highly recommend the apartment. It's a quick trip from NYC and a great choice for some R&R.

This sweet little cottage on our pond is your perfect mini vacation with direct access to one of CT's best kept secrets, Huntington State Park is steps away. Peaceful and quiet you can also hike, bike, kayak, x/c ski and explore the countryside.
Our little cottage on the pond behind our house was built around 1920. We have recently updated it and kept its beautiful rustic charm. We hope our guests will enjoy all that nature has to offer here. The pond and woods are filled with the peaceful sights and sounds of myriad birds, frogs and wildlife.
Redding CT is a peaceful rural and historic town surrounded by similar towns, but each unique in historical, natural and architectural features. Many artists choose this area as home because the of the light and natural beauty. The cottage is nestled between Putnam Park and Huntington Sate Park. There are miles upon miles of great trails in this area and right out side the door step of this cottage! There are many farm stands, wine country tours, antiquing trails and cultural activities. Check out our guidebook for our recommendations of places to eat.
  • We had an excellent stay at this lovely cottage. My husband and I had just gotten married, and this was a lovely place to relax and sleep in. Plus Jamie, the house caretaker was very sweet. He dropped off breakfast at our door the two days we were there.

    Diana2016-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay in Rosamind's cabin on the pond! She couldn't have been nicer or more generous! The cabin was wonderful...I was able to leave the windows open at night and fall asleep to the sound of the insects. I woke both mornings to see a fawn eating outside my bedroom window. Staying here made my business trip feel more like a vacation.

    Lea2015-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very enjoyable little cottage and wonderful hosts. Wood stove enthusiasts will find this place very pleasant. The stove is functional and easy, with plenty of firewood provided.

    Peter2015-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get away. Cute cabin with everything you need to be comfortable. The hosts are very accommodating and very nice people. They are there if you need them and not there when you don't. Secluded but not far from anything you might need.

    Thomas2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying here and it was wonderful. The wood stove was stacked for us when we got there and since it was chilly we used it every night. There are some items ready for use like tea and condiments (even some beer and wine!) in the fridge. We had pour over coffee every day and it was delicious. There is also extra soap, shampoo, etc if you don't bring your own. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a cozy escape!

    Lauren2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Rose is a down to earth lady that I enjoy talking with , you are left to your self at cabin it's very private and again slept very well. I would definitely enjoy staying again and talking with her and family. No one could be unhappy with this special place and a beautiful park across the way.

    Gardner2016-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rosamonds little cabin is absolutely beautiful and exactly as described. We couldn't have asked for more. I can absolutely recommend this quite place to anyone who wants to have a relaxed weekend away from the city. We will definitely be back. Thank you

Two private bedrooms and one private bathroom in a large shared house. Third-floor bedroom with twin beds and 360° views and second-floor bedroom with double bed and direct access to private bathroom. Relax in our outdoor hot tub. Enjoy Sunday flea market, antiques, hikes, and local vineyards. Our spacious home is a perfect weekend retreat for one or two couples.
We built much of this home ourselves, and the space reflects our family's personality. It's relaxed, informal, idea-driven, and welcoming. We have several multi-use rooms, a very spacious kitchen, a large deck and terrace, and ample parking. We live in a quiet neighborhood about 75 minutes north of NYC in an area of CT great for antiquing, wine, hiking, and leaf-peeping.
Quiet, small New England town with local lakes, nearby flea-market and vineyard. Lovely neighborhood for flat or challenging walk/bike/run (school with track and tennis courts is around the corner). Several nearby towns offer good food, pubs, parks, skating, etc.

    Claudia2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • As a group we can't really put into words how great our stay was, as a family watching their dynamic and team work whilst complimenting our needs was second to none and we loved every minute! They took us to a friends pool as we didn't have a car and actually cooked breakfast too! Neither we expected, but we didn't expect the level of hospitality we received either :) the house is extremely well kept, and you'd have to see it to beleive it the view! Thanks so much guys, we can't wait to come back!

    Nina2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy and Chris welcomed us into their beautiful home and family for the last few days, and I recommend it to anybody that has a chance to visit. We were dropping our son in a nearby school, and had never shared the space with the host. It turned out to be a great decision. The house is gorgeous, homey and artsy. Built near the top of a hillside off a country road, in the middle of thick CT forest. It has a perfect deck with chairs, umbrella and a bathtub to enjoy the view and chirping birds while having breakfast, typing or reading. Wendy, Chris and their girls were welcoming, charming, non intrusive (we had the house to ourselves most of the time, and our rooms/bathroom all of the time) and engaging, smart and fun in conversation over wine. We're very happy to have met them, grateful for their help and looking forward to our next visit.

    Claudia2016-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Wendy and Chris in Brookfield was incredible. The listing is just as beautiful if it looks, if not more. They were super helpful about what we should do and where we should go. They were also so much fun to hang out with. It was the perfect city get away. At night we had a bonfire going and all sat around it and chatted. The night was complete with one of those cool floating lanterns and fireworks! The stars in their area are spectacular. Waking up in the loft with the view of the trees and taking a warm bubble bath was among the highlights of our stay. We also had a great time hanging out with their kids and playing with their animals! Wendy made us an incredible breakfast in the morning with the apples that we picked.

    Raka2014-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful home! Both rooms are amazing and the tower room has a beautiful view. Wendy and Chris are incredibly helpful and friendly.

Quiet...great neighborhood for walking & biking. Close to Cranberry Park & town.
  • Great place, the pictures really do no justice to the apartment. Amazing value and a nice quiet neighborhood. Only down side is no door at the bottom of the stairs to seclude the space. But it was truly a wonderful and cosy apartment.

  • Kathleen and Franco's place was great - clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It was a great place to stay for a quick business trip to the area.

    Erin2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • great place, super clean, cozy home that was very well worth the money and stay. Kathleen and Franco did a great job with the set up of this studio apartment. They were great hosts and quite responsive. definitely would recommend this place!

    Samantha2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • ***ALL STARS *** .....This is a totally independent place in Kathleen and Franco's house's basement. ...You have your own entrance, bathroom, kitchen, living-room sitting area, etc. ...Thus, it is not a "private room within a house" type of listing. ...This totally and fully qualifies as a "private place." ...(Picture a fully independent 'apartment' within someone's home.) ........Franco and Kathleen are wonderful hosts. Very approachable, helpful, and delightful family. ... It was like staying with cousins...... Over the full week i was there, staying on after a family Wedding over Saturday and Sunday. ..... .... VERY comfy bed--it has a topper on it. ...Splendid, that. ... Astounding back yard with huge Willow Tree. Enchanting. ...... LOVE the town of Norwalk, Westport, and surrounding area. There are a lot of Hidden Treasures of places there. ... There are two several-panel room dividers for you, so you can divide up your spacious living-quarters however you prefer, or not at all. ... Wonderful bed-side touch-lamp. ....And there are full-size dressers available to put your clothing in--plenty of storage and space. ...There's a TV, and probably DVD player, etc. (there's 3 remotes there) -- i never did figure those out; however, it's all there if you'd like to use the technology! .... When i was there, the rest of the kitchen installation was being completed, so the next visitors will have Full Kitchen with sink, cabinets, etc. ....... There is a LOT of natural light from windows and a huge sliding glass door that opens to the lovely back yard. .............. ....Franco and Kathleen live in the whole upper part of the house. (Just an item of note: the sounds of walking are the only detectable sounds that go through to your quarters in the lower-level - which end around 10-something (Website hidden by Airbnb) about 7-somthing AM, walking across the upper floor (your ceiling) sounds come through, which are of no concern if you plan to already be awake at that time.).... Greatly appreciate the hospitality and graciousness of Kathleen and Franco. The whole week, location, and plan worked out totally perfectly. .....When you are there, visit the historic "Castle," nearby Cranberry Park, SONO area (near aquarium/marina), Calf Pasture Beach, Westport areas, and etc. ENCHANTING Village, Norwalk is. Highly recommend it and Highly and Fully Recommend Franco and Kathleen's "private homestead" place to stay. ...Ciao.!

  • I never met Kathleen, but she left excellent check-in instructions via messaging and on a laminated page in the room. The space was immaculate with just about everything you would need (except a clothes iron, perhaps). Would definitely stay again if I needed to be in the SW CT area for some reason.

    Ed2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Has a nice and clean space. It was more quiet and spacious than we first thought. Kathleen was very helpful and gracious. Would definitely recommend for people wanting to stay in the area.

This exquisite piece of New England history: The Oliver Benedict House on Codfish Hill. was built in 1796 and has had an incredible list of owners, including the one of the first families in Bethel (The Benedict Family), The (P.T.) Barnum Family and Helmsley/Spear Families. Your stay on Codfish Hill will be in the 200 year old converted milk barn with private entrance, beautiful loft, exposed barnwood beams, tons of natural light, Jacuzzi tub, and full bath with wilderness and wildlife all around you. The barn cottage (where you'll be staying) is flanked by beautiful gardens and adjacent open space. Codfish Hill is a great place for a relaxing getaway approximately 1hr from NYC. We are situated for day trips to state parks, ski hills, beaches, museums in Hartford and New Haven and several wineries on the CT Wine Trail. Note: A 2nd bathroom will be opened up for you to access if you have booked a stay, utilizing the 2nd bedroom, meaning you have additional guests in your party beyond 2. We also selected "hot-tub" as our bathtub is a HUGE JETTED tub. (That selection wasnt an option in the system.) ________
Bethel, CT is a charming town nestled in southwestern Fairfield County and is part of the Danbury metropolitan area. Bethel offers a rich colonial history, local flair and breathtaking rolling landscapes. The town is mostly residential and its main thoroughfare Greenwood Avenue has been designated as a Historic District. You can visit the other historic homes of Rev. John Ely and Seth Seelye - both on the National Register of Historic Places – The town is home to the Blue Jay Orchards for apple picking, Putnam Memorial State Park, Bennett Memorial Park and Taunton Pond. Also, for those who like to go antiquing, we have a variety of antique stores within 25 minutes in nearby Southbury and Woodbury. The Codfish Hill area of Bethel is among the most historic, rural and beautiful areas in New England. Located just north of Huntington State Park in Redding, hiking, biking, kayaking, snowshoeing and a host of other outdoor activities are right in our backyard.
  • Sally and Tom were the perfect hosts. Right from booking, they made it so easy to prepare for the weekend, arrive comfortably and enjoy each quiet moment. The weekend was just what we needed. My wife and I wanted time, unplugged, from our day to day. We took our two young kids and had plenty of room to spread out. The barn cottage was bright, clean and "tucked away from it all". Our drive was simple as this location is not too far from the hwy but gives you a perfect country scene along the way. Getting into town was quick and we were impressed with everything Bethel had to offer. Plenty of local options available and we also took advantage of other recommendations within a short drive. If you want to stay plugged in, they've done a great job of keeping WiFi strong and offering access to AppleTV. We used the wood burning stove as well which added to the cozy environment. Sleeping in will not be difficult as the king size bed is crazy-comfy and the kids got a kick out of using the jets in the large jacuzzi - we are returning and want to experience other seasons throughout the year. Thank you Tom & Sally - we couldn't have planned it better ourselves.

  • This is a beautiful and comfortable property - we loved the huge well-tended yard, the large comfortable bed with log frame, the clean and well-supplied bathroom. You can tell that Sally really cares about her guests. We hope to return soon!

  • My wife and I took an extended weekend at Sally and Tom's barn cottage and it was such a treat. The description that Sally gives of the place is completely accurate, but being there was even better than described. Both Sally and Tom were extremely friendly and welcoming; they came over to the cottage after we arrived to welcome us in and show us a few of the ropes, including the incredible fire place. Anytime we had a question or concern Sally was available and accommodating. Even when we were looking for certain type of dish Sally was kind enough to let us borrow one from her house. The little town of Bethel was nice and quaint with a fantastic history. We stayed over a rather frigid weekend so we were not out as much as we would have liked, but it was nonetheless enjoyable. Next time my wife and I are in the area this is the first place we will look to stay! Thanks Tom and Sally for a great weekend! Nate

    Nate2016-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a beautiful place to stay! My wife and I were looking for somewhere quiet to get away for a few days and we were in love with Sally's barn cottage. We were given complete privacy throughout our 4 day stay. If you're thinking about staying here we both highly recommend you do so!

    Dustin2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • There really isn't anything to dislike about Sally's place. The cottage is spacious, the kitchen well-equipped, and the property is absolutely gorgeous. Sally was warm and responsive leading up to and during our stay. If you are looking for a quiet weekend getaway, you can't do much better than Benedict Cottage.

  • Impeccably maintained grounds and beautiful pool. Lot's of space for a family stay.

    Stuart2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn at Sally and Tom's place in Bethel was amazing. Sally met us upon arrival and got us setup. Tom brought over extra firewood and explained the wood burning stove to us. After that we simply chilled out and relaxed in what is a very comfortable barn apartment. The kitchen had all the basic tools if we wanted to cook and the bathroom had plenty of clean towels. The town center is not far away if you need to get food or supplies and there are lots of parks and nature trails around for getting active outside. Overall, its a great place to go get away in a real farm - like setting. We definitely plan to go back and add in a day snowboarding trip to one of the nearby mountains.

    Chris2016-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic across the board! Sally and Tom and their entire family were terrific hosts and the barn cottage was more beautiful and comfortable than we could have imagined. The pool is stunning, the grounds are amazing and the accommodations are first class. Perfectly charming and gracious. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a country escape...we just LOVED it!

This unique "spaceship" built on an old pontoon boat will be sure to offer seclusion with only the gurgling brook to hear. The lodge is screened and glassed in. Think of it as a glorified tent! It can be rather creaky because it is made of recycled materials but the integrity of the structure is sound. The bed is lofted 10 feet off the ground and is accessible only by a ladder. Also please be advised that the bathroom and shower facilities are located a few minute walk away in the stone barn. This cabin has small LED lights and drinking water. The lodge has a stone table and chairs, a private fire pit and a small charcoal grill. PLEASE NOTE -The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are located a few minute walk away in the Stone Barn Once you book we ask that you keep us updated on your arrival time so that we can be sure to be ready and waiting for you!
  • Muy buenos anfitriones y el lugar hermoso, único y especial. Lo recomendamos!!

    Agustina2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The owners of the farm are so welcoming and inviting. We instantly felt like we could just hang out and chill the moment we got there. The Labyrinth Lodge was really cool, however I would highly recommend to book during the spring/summer/early fall. We had an unexpected temperature drop and it got pretty cold in there...however it was really warm in the bed with all the blankets. The hiking trails were beautiful and the views were gorgeous! I highly recommend this place for a break from the city.

    Angela2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sticks and Stones Farm is a beautiful place, my only problem was that I didn't have more time to explore! The Labyrinth was amazing and the loft bed pretty comfortable. Celine was very welcoming, but also gave us more than enough privacy. Definitely looking forward to staying again in the future.

    Ben2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly could not have imagined a better stay! Celine and her parents were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They answered all of our questions, made sure we had everything we needed to feel at home, and even let us play with their twin kittens (!!!) as long as we wanted. The lodge was awesome: easily accessible from the main barn but also secluded enough where we could mellow out peacefully. We'll definitely be back and can't reccomend more highly!

    Emily 2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the oddest places I've ever stayed, but that was awesome. It's on the grounds of this hippie, yoga-community "moss farm" in the middle of a cutesy, wealthy New England-y village. This "labyrinth lodge" is one of several tent pads and rustic cabins tucked onto a heavily forested slope. With the fall colors and smells, everything was gorgeous. There are ponds, gardens, and all manner of unique, slightly dilapidated buildings and gazebos sprinkling the property. The labyrinth itself was a bit of a disappointment - I was imagining wandering between walls; instead the paths are delineated by mossy rocks laid in the dirt. Its namesake though, where we stayed, was eccentric and delightful. There are two dim lights supplied (to actually read at night, we had to use the flashlights on our cell phones) and they had a pitcher of water and two glasses waiting for us. The lower level has some floor seating options and a tiny sofa and tall table, with lots of afghans and dreamcatchers and the like. You climb a ladder to the lofted bed. It was a chilly night and it was cold inside the place, but there were plenty of blankets. It was awesome to wake up to see the trees through the glass roof. The bathrooms and shower were a 2-3 minute walk away. There is one tiny shower with an honestly pretty gross shower curtain - that should probably be replaced. All of the staff were friendly, if a little preoccupied seeming. All in all, I'm super excited we found this place. We had a great night and morning exploring.

  • The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.

    Annie2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Celine and Tim were great hosts. Very personable people. The farm is an amazing experience. The integration of the unique lodgings throughout the property had something to do with it. As described the labyrinth lodge was basically a glorified tent, but it had plenty charm and was very cozy. It got a little bit cold at night, but there were sufficient covers to keep warm. I only stayed for one night but I would definitely return to explore more of the farm's trails. I really had a great time.

    Anthony2015-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures didn't do this place justice. It was such a beautiful and relaxing experience. Everyone in the area was super hospitable, too. Will definitely be back again!

  • Great host, beautiful place and very comfortable. Clean and with a great view. Definitely a great stay.

  • Value for the quality was great. Very minimalistic bright apartment, basic but awesome. The couch is super comfortable. Bed is comfortable, a little harder than I like but I've stayed in harder beds :) There is a king size bed, and another small room with a twin or full. And like a spa bed lol. Everything was better than a hotel room. Loved the abundance of towels, soaps, the candy was a nice touch. Glad that there are some pots and pans, so I was able to boil some water for tea. There are utensils as well. Huge wall for projecting images, fantastic for movies :D Downside was first night couldn't sleep as there are different house sounds I'm not used to, the heating system is loud but there is heat! Looking forward to see how the pathway to the entrance will be improved. Nice huge apartment in this large house, tucked away in the countryside.

  • Brienna is a great host. She is very friendly and accommodating. The place was clean and comfortable, and I had a great stay. The room is great. It has a walk in closet, a bathroom that connects to your the room, washer/dryer right outside of your room, and your parking is like five seconds from the entrance. The neighborhood overall is beautiful and quiet. I stayed here for six weeks and had no problems. Note: If you are going during a warm season. She does have a warning that the AC does not work for those summers but she had two giant fans that were more than enough, I only ended up using the one, and I was more than comfortable.

Welcome to our Lakefront cottage. The house sits on one acre with 100ft of waterfront on private Seven Hills Lake. It is family and pet friendly, great for groups or a romantic getaway from the city. In summer you can enjoy the kayaks or fish and swim right from the dock. In the winter you can sled (or walk) from the deck to the water and hop off the dock for ice skating- or stay warm by the fireplace and enjoy the view. 75 minutes from NYC, 15 minutes from the Metro North.
The living space is bright and open with cathedral ceilings, a large wood burning stove, piano, smart tv, and chefs kitchen. Most kitchen supplies you could hope for are stocked and for colder months we’ll make sure you have a dry bundle of wood to start your trip. The entire back wall is made up of sliding glass doors (in the master as well) to the 600sq ft deck with gorgeous views of the lake. The deck has a stainless propane grill, outdoor dining area, and chaise lounges. The master bedroom is opposite the living room with a four poster king bed, dresser, work area and desk, as well as a day bed and bathroom with marble shower. There are two bedrooms and a living area downstairs. The living area has a queen pullout, crib, sitting area, work desk, and smart tv and the guest rooms have queen beds. The shared downstairs bathroom is large with a full bath and shower. The second downstairs bedroom had an ensuite bathroom with a shower. The lower level has a new HE washer and dryer as well as a covered screened porch.
Seven Hills is a very small private community of friendly neighbors. More often than not that means you can have the lake to yourself, especially in colder months. You won’t see many manicured lawns as most of us chose to leave the trees and stay in the woods. It offers a lot of peace and privacy without being completely isolated.
  • Liza’s place was quite a delight. The wood stove, musical instruments, large kitchen and view of the lake made for a wonderful place the be stuck during a snowstorm. Liza was a great host, very responsive and made sure the drive way was plowed for us in the morning. We didn’t want to leave, but with that said, we will definitely visit again!

    Brennen2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house!! Liza was a great host and made everything super easy. The house was a quick trip from Manhattan, and was the perfect getaway. Looking forward to returning in the summer to enjoy the lake!

    Elizabeth2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had the pleasure of staying at Liza's house and it was beautiful. The house is decorated with simple yet elegant things. The view of the lake from the house is outstanding and waking up in the master bedroom with snow on the ground was breathtaking. The fireplace was a great touch and she even supplied wood to get started! The location is close to the train station to get down to the city if that's what you like and only an hour or so from the mountains if hiking is your thing. Liza very responsive and even wrote a welcome letter outlining everything. On return trips this would definitely be a go to for me and it should be for you as well!

  • This is the perfect space to get away from the city. It’s secluded, quiet and peaceful. We’re excited to head back in warmer weather and take advantage of the lakeside.

    Emily2018-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend at Liza's house exceeded expectations. The pictures really don't do justice to how lovely the property is. We spent our days just lounging on the dock at the lake or on the deck. Even though there are neighbors, most of the time we had the lake to ourselves! It was amazing! And so relaxing! The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need during your stay, plus much appreciated extras like firewood (we roasted marshmallows in the fire pit down by the lake) and kayaks, lounge chairs and water toys. We decided not to drive and we had no trouble getting a cab from Southeast station to the house and back. Liza was quick to respond to any questions and check-in was a breeze. We can't wait to stay again.

  • Amazing lake house! Everything was good during our two-day stay! Would definitely come back again.

  • Judith's home is immaculately presented, clean tidy and warm. The pictures don't do it justice. It's quite easily the nicest place I've ever stayed while on holidays anywhere. For us, the rural location was perfect with very easy drives to anywhere in Connecticut. Woodbury and all the surrounding towns we visited were really nice and the people are so friendly. Judith is a wonderful host, so kind and considerate. The whole top floor is private for her guests only and she certainly respects the privacy of her guests. I was ill for one of the days we stayed and Judith looked after me and my wife as though we were part of the family. This is far more than we would have expected and we are eternally grateful. When we're next in the USA we'll certainly be spending more time staying with Judith in beautiful Connecticut. If you're in Connecticut, you won't find a better place to stay.

    Kristopher2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay at Judith's lovely home, and just like the first time, it was absolutely wonderful. She is the absolute perfect, attentive host and just a warm, genuine person to boot. The house is beautiful and spacious; my room was clean, wonderfully situated and beautifully decorated. Same for the private bathroom. Every amenity and more was available. I especially love that the house is quiet (I'm sensitive to noise and was attending a very important and emotionally charged professional training, so really needed peace and quiet at the end of the day). Judith is also an excellent communicator and very thoughtful Overall, an outstanding stay and I can't wait to be back!

    Valeria2018-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were honored to be the first guests at Judith and Walt's home. We got in late and left after breakfast - everything was clean, comfortable and easy to find - as well as cheaper than anything else around. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to visit the area. Great location for visiting the Glass House and Grace Farms.

    Sophie2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed at Judith's multiple times in the past - see all previous reviews- Her home is warm, comfortable, spotless, and a gem of a find! I am in this area of Conn. often , if you find yourself needing accommodations in this area you cannot find any better!!

    Kevin2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Judith provided a very quiet and comfortable place to stay. She greeted me when I arrived and gave me a quick tour. I used her dining room to eat my dinner and do some work. That night I slept with the window open and enjoyed the cool breeze and quiet atmosphere. I would highly suggest staying at Judith's if it is available. Great host!!

  • Great stay!

  • Judith was a great host! We booked at the last minute and she made us feel very welcome! Her home was the perfect spot to stay while attending an event in Waterbury and she even had supplies on hand when we forgot our razor. We would recommend this place to anyone as a great place to stay!!

    Candace2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Judith is a wonderful hostess! She was easy to communicate with, friendly, and very accommodating for our family with small children. Hard to find a family-friendly Airbnb where you can stay for just one night, and Judith's was wonderful!

  • This was my first time using Airbnb, and the experience Sharoan provided was unparalleled. Photos cannot do this perfect little cottage justice; it is quaint and homey, and yet beautifully, modernly furnished. Everything in the cottage was clean and the place seemed as if we were the first people to ever stay in it. Although I never actually had the chance to meet Sharoan during my one night stay, she was very responsive to all of our texts. This is a perfect listing for any couple who just wants to get away to a cute little mountain town in a great, comfortable home. I will surely be renting here again!

    Jonathan2014-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. My first Airbnb, I am now addicted. Literally brand new, everything is in perfect shape and immaculately clean. Sharoan has thought of everything and you'll feel like you are in your own home after about 5 minutes. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, utensils, breakfast food (bagels, English muffins, jam, OJ), coffee, tea and snacks, and for anything else there is a small shopping center across the street with a package store, diner, etc. or you can bring it with you as there is plenty of room in the fridge and freezer. The bathroom has toiletries in case you forgot yours. You can walk to the beautiful Housatonic River, sit in front of the electric fireplace to warm up, watch one of the DVDs in the cottage's collection on the large LCD TV, or visit one of the area's attractions. Sharoan checked in with me in advance about any food allergies (so she could stock the fridge), made sure I got into the cabin, and stopped by before I left. She provided her contact information in case I needed it but completely respected my privacy. I can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for a private and quiet retreat while maintaining modern conveniences (luxuries is probably a better word!) and accessibility. I will be returning!

    Adam2014-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect. Very homey. Nice and neat, well-appointed, completely and thoughtfully stocked. A very nice bed and a very comfortable pullout couch. A great kitchen with all the amenities. A nice-sized table good for work and meals. All very well done. Perfect, private cottage. It made a four-day stay easy, pleasant and cozy. A quick drive up the river to Kent. Bird feeder in the back yard. “Cute!” said my daughter. Sharoan made the stay very easy and was attentive and provided all that we needed. Highly recommend this cottage if you need a private, turnkey spot to stay in the Gaylordsville, CT.

    John Wills Martin2016-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • It is a very lovely and pretty cottage. Whatever you can think of that you would need when you are there, Sharoan has already thought of that and made sure it's there for you to use.

    Sebastiaan2016-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is incredibly clean. Sharoan is so thoughtful that you'll find things you didn't even know you needed or wanted around for your use! The entire place was perfect with all the comforts of home. She even gave us directions to some great water access places near by. The area near by the home is so peaceful with lots of trails and parks nearby. She is also very quick with responses to questions you have. We can't say enough nice things about this place!

    Abby2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is phenomenal! Sharoan is a fantastic host and the place itself was very clean, neat and comfortable. She had plenty of amenities which puts the cottage over the top. Anything you need and she’s quick with responses. Definitely will stay again for a nice quiet weekend getaway!

    Nick2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean and very comfortable home. Sharoan's place provides a quiet retreat away from NYC stress. Local flavor that we enjoyed: Lovers Leap, Bull Bridge, and Kent Falls state park. The place had everything we needed.

    Rob2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sharoan's place was perfect for a quick getaway. The place is very clean and is close to a few towns that have great restaurants and trails. We really appreciated the breakfast foods and all the little touches that made our stay.

  • We loved our stay at Jason and Yvonne's. They were very helpful and available for all of our needs. Their place is small, but beautifully and efficiently designed. The beach is two minutes walk, just across the road, and we loved swimming, kayaking and canoeing in it with the gear that the hosts provided. We'll definitely be back

We live in Danbury, CT. It is a big city but only 7 miles away you can have a different experience. Ridgefield, CT is a small town with Main street shopping, great restaurants, a fun bar and so much entertainment. The Ridgefield Playhouse, The Prospector movie theater just a short drive away. I have some coupons available for some of the great shopping and bar in town.
  • Nice place and nice hosts. Place extremely clean and well kept, and not too far from downtown Danbury (about a 15 minute drive). Common areas were downstairs and rooms upstairs. FYI, the listing said the bath would be private and it's actually shared with other airbnb guests. We didn't have any issues at all with it being shared, but thought we would let you know. One last suggestion, coffee in the morning would be great.

    Zurielly2018-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Glad I went back. Tundi is very thoughtful and thorough.

    Daniel2018-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome hosts! They are very outgoing and the hospitality is second to none. The location is great and I highly recommend staying here if you’re traveling to the area.

    Craig2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • New to AirBnb hosting. Tunde was very nice & helpful, comfortable room. As with most new hosts, it takes a little time to “master the art”. And as with all private room rentals, as a guest, it’s always good to ask questions, get clarification on amenities, expectations, etc. Lovely manicured backyard view from bedroom.

The Treehouse Lovenest is a charmingly unique 2 bedroom country lodge situated in upstate NY on nearly 3 acres of virgin forest in the Hudson Valley. Located an hour and 20 mins north of Brooklyn on the East side of the Hudson River, the two level house is perched up high amongst the trees and has recently been stylishly renovated. This loft like home has 18 foot ceilings in the living and dining areas, and an open-planned kitchen adjacent to a split level lounge area which is drenched in light. For those who like to sleep in, there are 2 new comfy, king-size beds. There's a well equipped kitchen with new appliances, and for all those who love to cook or wish they knew how, the kitchen has a fun and diverse library of wonderful cookbooks. If you are a child of the sixties or seventies you will love the awesome stereo and extensive eclectic collection of vinyl. A 1000 square foot deck wraps around the house, overlooking a charming stream which flows through a canyon on the property next to our dedicated grilling deck. Adjacent to 150 acres of NYC water supply land owned by the D.E.P, the area is home to an abundance of wildlife with deer seen almost on a daily basis. The house is an ideal getaway for couples looking to escape from the city and reconnect with nature, in a clean, simple, tastefully-created and mid-century modern inspired environment. The Treehouse Lovenest is a luscious retreat for couples who wish to unplug from the city. One weekend here will recharge your spirit and energize the soul. The only downside to the place is that you won't want to leave.
  • Just spent a great weekend here - super-relaxing & exactly what we were looking for...the description of the listing was spot on...a week or so before Basquali sent a comprehensive visitor's guide which was incredibly helpful in plotting out our activities for the weekend even though we mostly just wanted to stay in & chill in the house for most of it...and Basquali was only a quick text message away when we had any questions...all in all a fantastic getaway that felt miles from anywhere, which was great considering the proximity to Brooklyn...oh yeah, & an awesome record collection that pretty much made our weekend!

  • What a magical hideaway!! And a very gracious and generous host

    Stephanie2015-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Treehouse was adorable! Exactly as pictured. It was nice and cozy with two king sized beds and 2 full baths! The kitchen was fully stocked with spices and every cooking appliance you could possibly need. There are tons of great hiking trails near by and a little town close by for groceries, dining out, liquor stores, etc. It's definitely secluded, so make sure to get groceries and gas before you get there. Closest town is about 20 min away. That being said, we really enjoyed unplugging and taking hikes along the ponds near by. It was so nice to get away from the city and wake up to the sounds of nature not trash trucks! I recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to unwind!

  • Our treehouse weekend was perfect! Basquali's attention to detail in the manual was tremendously helpful and he was always communicating with us to ensure our weekend was going smoothly. The ambiance, record player, and porch were the highlights for us and just a chance to escape to the woods for the weekend was exactly what we needed. Thank you Basquali!

  • The cottage was super cute, light and bright decor. Farm cottage meets modern urban design. There was so much natural light, it brightened our moods. Close proximity to hiking trails and Safe Haven Farm Sanctuary. We dined at the Green Granary in New Milford, CT, which had vegan and vegetarian options. The house is also close to Danbury as well if you want to explore around town. Our hosts have excellent communication skills and replied back as soon as possible.

We enjoyed every bit of our stay. The apartment was really private and nice. All amenities present were as listed. We even got a gift from them for our little one. • I had a great experience staying here. The day I arrived, Neal made sure that I had checked in okay, and that everything was good. The entire apartment was very clean and comfortable, and everything I needed for my two-week stay was already there. I would definitely stay with Neal again.

  • Contrary to popular belief, exemplary hospitality doesn't only exist in the south. I stayed at Neal's for a one month business trip and the service I received was complimentary to a boutique hotel in Los Angeles - at half the costs. What an awesome experience! I highly recommend....oh one last thing: extremely quiet!

  • Beyond believe. So undervalued. Immaculate. Brand-new. Well conceived design. The communication was insanely good and they were very generous with extras for me. I'm looking for excuses like the schedule at the Ridgefield Playhouse just to stay here again.

  • Frank’s place is beyond comfortable. He was a great host and was very accommodating to my needs. If you’re like me that truly values privacy..... This is the place I’d highly recommend. Check in was quick. Inviting atmosphere. Cleanliness is immaculate. Apartment was spacious both upstairs and downstairs. Two thumbs up!! :)

  • As a brief stop on our roadtrip, our stay in Bethel was far too short. The place is lush and comfortable, and the surroundings are beautiful. The town is quaint and picturesque, and there are many restaurants and supermarkets a short drive away. We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to stay in Bethel.

    Linnea2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • It really is a nice, private and quiet place. Check in was simple, the apartment is spacious and comfortable, and Frank even allowed us to check out a little late. We greatly appreciated the hospitality. Five out of five stars.

    Renato2018-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place was exactly what my girlfriend and I were looking for over Labor Day weekend. Quiet, clean, and comfortable. Bethel is a nice little town with beautiful houses and plenty of good restaurants. Frank was a good host. He was flexible and even helped adjust my reservation since I accidentally requested the wrong days. He also let us check in early since we arrived earlier than planned. Overall a great, relaxing and comfortable weekend!

  • A cozy and clean spot in the woods with charm. The full kitchen is a plus, the bed is comfortable & opening the back door to a wooded view is serene. Enjoy the variety of all kinds of restaurants and shops in town, very convenient for travel to Danbury, Waterbury, Westchester Co, and NYC. Truly a cozy place in the woods.

  • This is wonderful place to stay! It was an easy drive from NYC for a beautiful weekend away. We definitely plan on coming back.

  • Beautiful home, beautiful room. Looks just like the pictures in the ad. Maggie is very good at communicating. Wonderful experience.I would highly recommend this home.

  • Our stay was terrific. Maggie and Marty were lovely and very accommodating. Even though it rained almost all weekend, we had a great time with all the activities available around the house and the property. We'd love to be back.

    Suse2012-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house and setting. They made a point of catering to our arrival schedule by having a family member meet us as neither was available that evening. Sorry we missed meeting Maggie as she was out of town. Interesting conversations with her brother and Marty. Our only issue was that it was unclear exactly what was available for breakfast. There were fresh bagels the first morning but the second morning was unclear.

    Mike2012-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house, the hosts, the land, the weather [how did they arrange that?!]--all made such a good impression!! It was warm enough to sit on the porch in the morning! The other guests were terrific too.

    sarah 2011-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • I am a native to the Hudson Valley and just needed a place for my family to stay during a crowded family reunion, but Maggie and Marty's hospitality showed me a charming bit of my home town that I never knew existed. I was tempted to spend more time relaxing at Maggie and Marty's farmhouse than with the chaos of my family reunion. Their property is spectacular. The first words out of my 5 y.o. son's mouth in the morning upon waking, as he looked out the window over the pond, were, "It's so beautiful". I only wish we had had more time to enjoy the property fully. I can imagine anyone wanting to escape the noise of city life, enjoying a book on the balcony or down by the pond. Of course our stay was so wonderful because Maggie and Marty were such wonderful hosts. They were so good with our young kids (ages 5,3,1). Maggie and Marty certainly gave us all the space we needed, but frankly, we enjoyed our time there the most when we were able to share their warm conversation.

    Jeffrey2011-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie and Marty have a beautiful home in a country setting. They were not there when we arrived but the housekeeper greeted us and answered any questions we had. This would be a good place for families to come and spend a couple of days to swim in the pond and do other fun activities.

Unique space on a hill. One super friendly neighbor resides in a red converted barn across the street.
  • My mom and I loved the scenery and the coziness of this cottage! It was a short drive from Washington Depot where we were attending a festival, and it was such a cute neighborhood to stay in!

    Lindsey2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable cottage. Very clean, quiet and the most comfortable bed! Close to many scenic attractions. Would definitely stay again!

  • What an amazing tub!

    Kirsten2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was exactly as described with easy parking, easy access, and a perfect place if you want to stay in that area and want quiet. In warmer months an awesome deck is there to enjoy the view.

  • I had such a lovely time at Erin's place! The cottage is exactly how it is described! Erin is really cool and so is her place. Perfect for a couple! Thank you Erin!

    Cynthia2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I went on a trip to Maine and stopped in Connecticut our first night. We could not have had a better time if we tried! Erin and her husband were warm and welcoming and the apartment is cozy yet a bit funky (a very good thing in my book). But the piece de resistance was Erin's neighbors inviting us over for a drink and conversation. We spent the entire night hanging out with them and had an insanely wonderful time. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

    Marjorie2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Erin's cottage is cute, cozy, and accommodating. The perfect place to stay for a Litchfield getaway. Her place is nestled away but located conveniently to many of the Litchfield attractions (hiking, restaurants, water sports, wineries, distilleries, horseback riding, antiquing, small town charms, etc). The bed if comfortable, the shower is amazing, the place is clean, plenty of privacy, and there is Wi-Fi. We met the neighbors who were super friendly and welcoming. Erin is extraordinarily kind and accommodating. Not only would we recommend her place, but would definitely go back.

    Michael2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Erin's place was perfect for my needs, and Erin worked with me to accommodate them. I needed to stay 3 separate nights over a 2-week period, and she was more than happy to adjust her policies to suit my needs. She was very responsive. The place is cozy but has everything you need. There was coffee provided, too. The bed was really comfortable and there's a nice sized deck, too. I would definitely stay there again.
