  • This was a romantic place. Put candles in the holders to get a lovely light on the 'ceiling'. The log-burning stove smoked a bit, but that might have been our incompetence.

  • We stayed here for one night, 2 adults, 3 small children. Really warm with the woodburning stove, comfortable mats to sleep on. Tasty eggs & milk provided. The only thing we'd suggest to change would be some kind of in/out sign so it's clearer when the bathroom is in use. Would love to stay again :)

    Sally2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • You have to stay here! We had an amazing time, the yurt was very relaxing and the views and walks were beautiful. Rachel was a great host who came and checked that everything was okay. She also left us wine, cake and some raw milk. I couldn't recommend staying here more and I will certainly be back!

    Jasmine2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • I'd booked to stay in the smaller yurt for my birthday with friends for a couple of days and it was a beautiful experience. Cosy and snug in an idyllic location we were all very pleasantly surprised. The addition of board games, fresh eggs, wine and pastries was a lovely touch and Rachel was a very pleasant host.

    Felicity2016-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the slightly larger and newer yurt which we preferred as it is brighter inside and has a nice view. Although near a main road it didn't really bother us. We like the fact there is a pub over the road but nothing else. The yurt was cosy and toastie warm. We really enjoyed it stay and went walking directly from the Yurt so no need to use the car.

    Louise2017-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great unique place to stay with some excellent activities close by. We thoroughly enjoyed the Yurt whilst we did some cycling and other local activities nearby. Thanks Rachel & David

  • A lovely place to relax for a couple of nights. We found fresh eggs and milk left in the yurt and the log burner prepped ready to light which made settling in and getting cosy easy. One thing to note is that it's not in a very private location with another yurt next door and a field of caravans on the other side.

    Amy2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in the cosy and kitsch yurt. This was a lovely base to explore the Peak District. The warm washroom with heated floor was welcome after a long bike ride. Will come again!

Set in a stunning location by the River Dove, this self-contained studio with private entrance is in a converted saw mill dating from the 1750s. There is excellent walking in all directions right from the doorstep. A traditional English pub 50m away serves real ales and great food whilst Longnor with cafes, shops and pubs is just a mile away. The towns of Buxton, Bakewell and Leek are within 10 miles with Ashbourne 15 miles. This makes an ideal base for active exploration or just relaxing.
The studio has its own separate entrance and is well equipped with a new double bed, a sofa, table and chairs and clothes storage and spacious en-suite shower room. We provide fresh bed linen and towels. There is Wi-Fi and a Freeview TV with DVD/CD player. The kitchen has a microwave/grill, fridge with ice box, kettle, toaster and 2-ring hob as well as pots, pans, cafetiere, crockery and glasses. Basics for washing up, salt/pepper and cooking oil are provided. There are hooks for coats and space for muddy boots. The studio is a good size and has plenty of character including beams. There are also a few DVDs, games and books/maps of the local area including the local bus timetable.
The property is in the heart of the Peak District with stunning scenery and beautiful walks from the door. You can walk along the River Dove to the pretty village of Hartington with its local ice cream, pubs and cheese shop whilst the peaks of Chrome Hill and High Wheeldon can be reached on foot. The Staffordshire Moorlands and Manifold Valley are within easy reach. The area is also popular with cyclists and bikes can be hired at various locations. There are many other excellent walks for those who want to travel further afield during their stay. There are also several pretty market towns and historic buildings such as Chatsworth, Eyam and Haddon Hall to explore. The town of Buxton is only a few miles away and has shops, restaurants, gardens and a train station. An information folder and some local books and maps are available for guests.
  • Such a lovely location, beautiful views and walks nearby. Pip and Dave were so welcoming and friendly, would happily come again!

    Hannah2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy accommodation surrounded by beautiful scenery. We had a great few days exploring the area. Pip's place has everything you need including knowledgeable hosts who are happy to offer advice. The accommodation was really clean and it was a bonus sitting out in the sunshine eating our breakfast. I would thoroughly recommend a visit!

    Paul2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Pip and Dave made us feel really welcome. The annex had everything needed for a comfortable stay and had a lovely little garden with great views of the countryside. We would recommend the pub opposite, great food and the landlord was really friendly. We’ll definitely stay again when we visit the Peak District. Thank you!!

    Susan2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little self contained annexe with everything you need for a short stay. We were blessed with amazing weather which made the views and location even better. Pip was a very welcoming host and we hope to stay again soon!

    Victoria2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed for 10 days at Pip's house and it was lovely. The location invites for having nice walks in the nature, which starts right outside the house. The accomadation is one room, including bed, dining table, sofa and kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower. Everything is there that you need for 1 to 2 for selft catering. I had a prepaid mobile phone card from '3' and had no reception in the valley, but the provided WiFi was very good. Overall a enjoyed the nice, friendly athmosphere in Pip and Dave's house and would always stay again there.

  • Hosts are great and the studio is lovely, in a quiet setting and great area. The pub 30 metres away is great but is shut monday and tuesday. Property is attractive, spotless and well equipped. We recommend this place and will return again.

  • Had a fantastic time at The Cottage. It is wonderfully cosy, and really well thought out, so that for a small place it feels like you have so much room. We particularly enjoyed having a fire going each evening, particularly after long walks in the peaks. Being only 10 minutes from Buxton meant we could enjoy going out for a nice dinner, and still get the peace and quiet of Earl Sterndale. Would really recommend it, particularly if, like us, you just want a bit of time away from the stresses of city life.

  • Steven was a charming and very thoughtful host. The cottage has everything one needs for a comfortable getaway for 2, it is convenient for great walking and cycling. We will certainly return to the Peak District before long.

    Alison2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is lovely - very cosy and perfect for two people with one, open-plan kitchen/living room downstairs and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs. When we arrived the fire was lit and there were fresh flowers on the table which made it feel very homely. The village is quite remote but has easy access to lots of walking and cycling routes, and is a short drive from Buxton and Bakewell.

    Sarah2016-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great week in Steve's cottage. It was comfortable and cosy and Steve provided a more than adequate supplies of coal, logs, kindling and fire lighters. Steve was very understanding of our travel problems but still made sure the cottage was very welcoming with a lit stove and xmas lights and a welcome bottle of wine. Great location for walking from the cottage and good pubs and places to visit near by. Nice to have a local like the Quiet Woman, a good reminder of how a lot of pubs used to be ! We enjoyed it and the beer is good. Thanks for everything Steve and hope to visit again sometime. Ged and Jane

  • Steve was a perfect host, he even kindly gave us a lift into Buxton on one of the days. The Cottage is perfect in every way for a quiet romantic break. Stunning scenery, lovely walks and close to a few towns if you want a bit more liveliness! It has a lovely log burner and everything you need to cook up a storm. Thanks again!

    Gary2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a cottage for two people, with plenty of walking opportunities, as well as somewhere we could share a cosy evening by the fire with a bottle of wine. This cottage fit the description perfectly - in fact, Steven left us a bottle of wine on arrival, which was very kind! We walked to Buxton and drove to Bakewell to explore the nearby area, but spent the evenings cooking in the cottage - it had everything we needed.

    Mel2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We were pleased to find a bottle of wine and a vase of flowers for us on arrival at the cottage. There was kindling and fuel for the stove and a well written informative booklet for guests which answered simple questions that a guest would have on arrival. The cottage is small but very well organised, clean and recently re-furbished and decorated. Steven was on hand very promptly to deal with a small problem we had. The cottage is excellent and I would stay there again.

    Robert2016-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautiful and very comfortable. We appreciated the little touches that Steven arranged (like the movie library!) and it had every convenience for a lovely stay. An excellent combination of a rustic rural retreat with modern features - just what the doctor ordered!

  • Longnor is a beautiful village and Karen's place is ideal for those wishing to have a base for a walking/touring holiday in the Peak District. The house is full of quaint original features...the window shutters, floorboards, fireplaces. The double room has a lovely soft bed with super bedding and a great view across the market place to fields beyond. My only criticism for the double room is that you can hear cars and tractors in the early morning as the original sash windows offer little sound-proofing. The twin room is at the rear of the property and the bedding is clean and there is plenty of storage for clothes. There were lovely towels for use in the bathroom. The bathroom is adequate but there is no ventilation so it gets steamy after showering. I have suggested to Karen that a rubber bathmat would be a good addition for safety as it was slippy getting out of the shower onto the slabbed floor. I loved the house but I suggest other visitors should accept it for what it is - an old house with original features so expect to have uneven and creaky floors and furniture in keeping with the age of the house, etc. The house has a small yard at the rear with flower borders - ideal for my hound to have a breath of fresh air before his walk in the morning. The house is sandwiched between a brilliant little shop selling just about everything and Cobbles cafe which does amazing breakfasts and yummy cakes. The Post Office is a few minutes walk away and I can honestly say it's the most quaint P.O. I've ever been in! The village also has a Craft Shop/cafe, modern wine bar and comfy Pub (which does great pub grub). There are so many footpaths around the village I could have taken a different route with my hound every day. However, bear in mind some are not suitable for certain breeds of dog. To sum up I loved every minute of my stay at Karen's place - it was truly "therapy" to do without wifi and a phone signal (the best place to get one is at the top of the Church graveyard!) in such a lovely house.

  • My daughter, dog and myself have just arrived home after 4 wonderful nights in Bank House. We loved the quirkiness of the sloping floors and creaky floorboards lol this is a very old house with some beautiful original features with a cosy stove in the living room. All very welcoming as was the tea coffee choccie biscuits etc Karen left for us. We had snow while we were there which made our stay even more perfect. The local pub served delicious food and was very welcoming to us and Finn the dog. The local fish and chip shop was great and the best breakfasts can be had at the Cobbles cafe and they too welcomed Finn..... the village store was handy. The village was in a stunning spot and we managed to visit Bakewell, Ashbourne, Buxton and had a great day at Chatsworth House the Christmas market there was a delight. Although there is a regular bus service in Longnor a car is necessary to get around.

    Sylvie2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Karen's cosy cottage in Longnor. It was just what my daughter and I needed. We spent lovely snug evenings in front of the wood burner doing jigsaws and colouring in. We visited Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Leek and Buxton. We also visited Speedwell Cavern, all of which we would recommend. A meal at the Royal Oak is a must, a wonderful variety of food, almost too much to choose from and such a delicious meal. We also roasted chestnuts on the fire which we had collected at Chatsworth. The cottage was just what had been described and had everything we wanted. The beds were very comfortable and Karen was a very kind host.

    Lucy2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's house is a perfect location to explore all over the Peak District. It's a short drive to great hikes and the house was great for relaxing with great food options nearby. Hope to visit again!

  • The place was truly picturesque and the hosts - kind as anything! Despite being very rural, you felt like you had everything you needed given the high spec and well stocked cottages (which still retained a very cosy, cottage feel) as well as the little shop on site which had everything you needed. The long room was great as you could pick up any game you could think of! They were very welcoming and prepared for our little pup, with an endless supply of treats. I will definitely be returning and can highly recommend to anyone looking to explore the peaks!

A stunning holiday home just 10 minutes from Bakewell and Buxton, originally part of the Chatsworth Estate, the barn has been beautifully renovated into a spacious luxury Peak District holiday home just a short walk or bike ride from the High Peak trail. As you drive down the quiet country road to reach the gateway, all you can see for miles is the peak district countryside with far reaching views. It’s a scene that will make walkers want to put on their boots and start exploring.
We moved to the house in 2016 and absolutely love living here. The Barn is attached to our house but has a separate drive, private garden and entrance, so we are available if you need us otherwise we will leave you to enjoy your holiday.
We are surrounded by the gorgeous Derbyshire countryside. Our neighbours are sometimes sheep and cows, there’s a hare, some ducks and occasionally a bird of prey or owl can be see resting on a stone wall in front of the house. It is very peaceful here and you will see amazing sunsets across the fields.
  • We recently returned for a long weekend at the barn, both the house and location were perfect. The barn is also much bigger than the photos suggest, with plenty of space for 6 adults and a quick moving toddler. We'd highly recommend it - a cosy bolthole and excellent base to explore the Peak District from!

  • Arabella's home is in a beautiful, scenic location within the Peak District, with plenty to do via short driving trips out. The listed images don't do the property justice, we were more than impressed upon arrival at the quality of the space. Would love to visit again, thanks!

  • This cottage is the perfect getaway. fantastic location with walks on the doorstep, really clean cosy cottage with a pub that serves great food 2 minute walk away. The cottage was immaculately clean and had all the amenities needed to make staying in doors in unsuitable walking weather ideal. Gill the host is lovely and gave excellent advice on local walks too. Will definitely be returning.

  • A most relaxing stay in a very well equipped, comfortable and well designed snug barn conversion. Friendly hosts, very quiet village, yet close to Buxton and many other tourist hotpots such as Eyam, Monsal Head, Bakewell. Perfect for our little dog too, safe and enclosed courtyard and pretty gravel path to a secure gate. Phone network struggled and Wi Fi intermittent within barn (fine in courtyard) but that was probably a blessing as we wanted a quiet relaxing time! Extremely good value for money. Would recommend wholeheartedly to couples who want a cosy, quiet retreat. Great pub in village but you need to book for meals as v popular. Thank you!

  • Gill and her husband made us feel very welcome upon arrival and showed us all the amenities. We felt very settled immediately. The bed is very very comfy and the kitchen/living room is ideal and very stylish. There are lots of files to show you where to visit in the area and we found some incredible places to visit as a result. Because it is in the countryside, we heard owls at night, which was magic. The pub at the top of the hill is fabulous for food and only a short stroll up the hill. Had a lovely stay and would definitely stay again.

Located in the delightful Peak District village of Longnor, Jack's Cottage is a cosy holiday cottage for two, bursting with character, with original stone floors, wooden beams and an open range fire, but also enjoying the benefits of a modern shower room and central heating.
The living room has an original open range fireplace ready laid on arrival and a basket of logs and coal to keep you going! Stone floors and oak beams downstairs and original wooden floorboards upstairs give the cottage a lovely heritage feel, but with a modern shower room, comfy double bed and central heating you'll be cosy and comfortable all year round. There is an enclosed sunny garden and patio with garden furniture and barbeque in the summer,
Longnor is a very friendly village in the heart of the Peak District, with stunning scenery to enjoy, together with the delightful nearby market towns of Ashbourne and Leek with their antique shops and tea rooms to explore. Buxton (of spa and spring water and Opera House fame!) is just a few miles away and there are National Trust properties and gardens, as well as the magnificent Chatsworth House, all within easy reach of Jack's Cottage.

Cosy, clean and comfortable, Clough Head Cottage is a perfect place to relax after a day's walking, cycling or sightseeing in the beautiful White Peak region of the Peak District National Park. A tranquil haven close to many outstanding attractions.
A traditional Peak District stone cottage, part of our farmhouse, but self-contained and private. Sitting room, kitchen/diner, utility, bath/shower room and two bedrooms (one king-size double, one with single bed and single futon - this is quite narrow for an adult and goes alongside the single bed when needed). We have a cot available if you require one. The sitting room is equipped with satellite TV, sound system, games chest, books and local maps, CDs and DVDs. The kitchen has everything for your needs - cooker, microwave, toaster, and is fully equipped. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk are provided to welcome you. There is a utility room with sink and dishwasher, space for coats, muddy boots etc, and clothes can be dried in front of the boiler fan. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are included, as is free broadband wifi. You can charge devices using built-in points in the sitting room and bedroom. A welcome pack is available if ordered in advance, including bread, milk, eggs, bacon, butter, marmalade, cereals, yoghurt and fruit, for a cost of £25.
Clough Head is on the side of a ridge which divides the Upper Dove and Manifold rivers, with the White Peak on one side and the Staffordshire Moorlands on the other. The nearby picturesque village of Longnor has a good local store, a post office/store, a pub serving food, an excellent fish and chip shop, two cafés and an arts and craft centre. The elegant spa town of Buxton with its pavilion, opera house and ornamental gardens and parks, its yearly festival and range of music and plays and fabulous free events through the year, is a short drive away. Leek with its antique shops and busy market is a similar distance in the opposite direction. Also within easy driving distance are the magnificent stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, the attractive Peak towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne, Matlock, the villages of Hartington (an excellent place for visitors on foot or wheeled transport) and Eyam with its historic plague story, the beautiful National Trust gardens at Biddulph Grange, the Castleton caverns, adventure at Alton Towers, and stunning Dovedale. Walkers and mountain bikers have a range of inspirational routes to choose from, with superb views without too much effort from Chrome, Hollins and Parkhouse Hills to the North-East, Axe Edge to the North-West, the Roaches and Blackshaw Rocks to the South-West, and Sheen Hill and High Wheeldon to the South-East. This area is famous for its cycle trails, especially the High Peak and Tissington trails, the Manifold track and parts of the National Cycle Network. (When possible we can assist in taking and/or collecting cycles and cyclists from local points).
  • Lovely cottage with stunning surroundings. Alick & Helen are superb hosts and would have no qualms with going back again. Fantastic few nights in the countryside.

    Daniel2016-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming, including delicious scones on arrival and milk, tea and coffee. They had prepared straightforward, well written guidance material and collected handy tourist information. Alick helped us get to know the biomass boiler system, and he and Helen helped us settle in - available but never obtrusive.

    Rachael2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Alick's cottage, it is beautifully presented, a good size yet cosy, perfect for our needs and surrounded by gorgeous hillsides. Alick was a great host, on hand when we arrived, gave us the guided tour and available when needed, he even called on the kids when it was time to feed the Alpacas. We would heartily recommend anyone looking to stay in the Peak District to consider staying here.

  • Gracious hosts.

  • We had an absolutely lovely weekend at Clough Head Cottage. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly. There was milk, coffee, home made brownies and Parkin on arrival. They had print outs of walks that are good in the area which we very much enjoyed. The information provided about local services was comprehensive and helpful - we would recommend the Royal Oak for food but be aware the portions are massive!! The cottage was well looked after and cosy. The kitchen had all the pots and pans etc. you would need. The place was clean and well maintained. The bed was possibly the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on! The local area was lovely. The cottage was very rural with great views all around. Very close to Buxton and Bakewell with pubs scattered closer to the house. There are walks on the door step and others a close drive away. If you are looking for a relaxing rural getaway I would highly recommend Clough Head Cottage.

  • A beautiful setting and perfect getaway. It had everything we could possibly need and the hosts were lovely. We'd recommend this cottage to anybody!

  • Great cottage, fantastic location and well maintained. All the equipment/utensils etc. you will need around the kitchen and in general. Hosts made sure we were comfortable and were really great. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get away and just chill!

    Louise2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Helen was very welcoming despite the fact that we arrived early! The cottage is lovely, freshly baked scones were delicious and the vase of fresh roses was a nice touch. The cottage is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The view was beautiful and we would definitely recommend.

  • The shepherd's hut was exactly as expected, only warmer! The log burner had been lit for our arrival and the hut stayed warm all night. The hut was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. Even the turkeys in the field were lovely! We would definitely visit again!

  • We stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time running and walking in the area. A good choice if you want to stay somewhere scenic and out the way but with good proximity to Buxton. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating, letting us use their firewood and meet their turkey and deer!

    Naomi2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay in a beautiful location. Lots of thought has been put into the features and decor of the Shepherd's Hut. Along with a warm welcome, we also appreciated a lit stove and fire pit for our arrival. We would have loved to have stayed for a second night...Thank you

  • The hut is in a beautiful secluded location on a working farm and has lambs and a very friendly turkey in residence. It is equipped with a log burning stove and there is a fire pit and gas bbq. We only stayed for one night but it is one of the most memorable AirBnB experiences we've had.

  • Maria was the loveliest and most welcoming host from setting up the fireplace for our late arrival to leaving us some local baked treats for breakfast. The cottage is perfect for a quiet weekend with the most beautiful views.

    Tania2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Maria. The place is beautifully decorated and comfortable and lovely and warm on a cold and windy February night. It wasn't necessary to light the wood burner, but it made it even more cosy. We had a delightful stay.

    Hilary 2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Maria is a great host, very friendly and helpful. There are lots of books in the cottage along with Maria's recommendations of the local area to help you plan your time here. The cottage is well equipped and ideal for a peaceful relaxing break away, we really enjoyed our stay here.

  • Stayed in the cottage from Friday 18th- Monday 21st August. Two twenty something females and a dog. We were sent plenty of information before hand so we were able to find and access the property with ease. Upon arrival we were greeted with a lovely welcome basket. The cottage comes beautifully furnished with lots of essentials you may need for your stay like soap, washing up liquid, tea bags etc. We had a little walk before returning to the cottage and meeting Maria - who was lovely and welcoming and had all the answers to our questions. The bed was lovely and comfy and the added bonus of having sky TV was great for a cosy evening with our feet up. My personal favourite part of the cottage was the shower, for such limited space Maria has installed the most wonderful bathroom with a lovely and powerful shower. We visited a few pubs & walks in the local areas and a few of the places of interest written about in our welcome package. We would recommend Thor's cave and Manifold Valley trail. We've had a really lovely weekend and was a perfect getaway from the city!

    Rosie2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was as pictured and incredibly lovely. It is a perfect setting for some restoration, relaxation and walks in nature. Maria also went out of her way to welcome me, making sure the wifi was working, providing a care package and even coordinating a private tour of nearby Leeks with a local historian. Thanks for the great stay!

Ideally located to explore the whole of the White Peak (without a car you can still do numerous walks from the door, as well as making use of the Moorlands Connect which can take you around the Staffordshire Moorlands area). Maria is an excellent and friendly host and was always easy to get in contact with.

Avonlea was built circa 1769 and we restored it in 2008 to provide co-ordinated accommodation throughout. We have let it as a holiday cottage ever since, with many excellent guest reviews both in our visitors book and on TripAdvisor. It's perfect for couples wanting peaceful quality time together, a romantic break or simply a retreat from the stresses of everyday life, where one can relax and recharge. The cottage is cool in summer and warm and cosy in winter thanks to full central heating and a woodburning stove. There is a lovely garden which is great to enjoy in summer. We provide may essentials to make your stay comfortable including power supply, free wifi, all linen, towels, tea towels, toilet and kitchen rolls, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, fairy liquid, cleaning materials and dishcloths. You only need to supply food and drink, although we do leave a sparkling wine toast for your arrival, to get you in the holiday mood.
Monyash (pronounced Munyash) is a small village of some 145 houses, situated in the middle of the Peak District in Derbyshire, England. The village lies in a shallow hollow in the limestone plateau at the head of Lathkill Dale. Most of the houses sit along two roads and at the intersection is the village green. The rolling scenery around the village is typical of the White Peak area, with limestone walled fields and small clumps of broad-leaved trees.

Una zona tranquila, semi rural con el mercado de la ciudad de Buxton 3 millas de distancia. Hermosas vistas hacia el valle de Brand hacia Chrome Hill. Una alegría en todos los tiempos.
  • We had an absolutely perfect time staying at Shelley and Jon's barn. It is beautiful inside and out. The inside is a lot more spacious than we had expected, which was a lovely surprise, and it was impeccably clean and really attractive and modern. The bed is very comfy, the shower is fantastic, it was well heated and a perfect temperature. All the tech in the kitchen is modern and fantastic, and thankfully had instructions there for how to use the hob. It was also lovely to have the coffee machine there to have a proper coffee in the morning. We also loved all the thoughtful extra touches - the massive collection of DVDs and CDs, colouring books, having milk in the fridge when we arrived and Jon and Shelley thinking to leave the lights on for when we arrived as it was dark, so that we could see where we were going. The location is brilliant - nice and quiet with great views, and a short easy drive from the beautiful town of Buxton, and it was really easy to explore a lot of the south peak district from here. Basically it's a fantastic place to stay, Jon and Shelley are great hosts and we'd recommend it to anyone looking to stay in this area.

With stone floor downstairs and solid oak flooring on the first floor, exposed oak and stone lintels giving warmth and character. There is under-floor heating downstairs and in the bathroom. It has an open plan living room with fire place, fully-equipped kitchen, double bedroom with 5ft bed, second bedroom with two single beds and a patio area to sit out and enjoy the peaceful location.
Big Fernyford Farm is an upland beef and sheep farm (situated at 1,000 feet above sea level), 2 miles from the village of Warslow, 2 miles from the village of Newtown and 4 miles from the village of Longnor. It is located in stunning countryside on Reapsmoor in the Peak District.
  • Dorota and family were extremely friendly and welcoming, the barn itself was immaculate and well equipped, very well situated with easy access to lots of attractions within the Peak District. Can't recommend it highly enough!!

  • perfect place for a get-away in the peak district, staying on a working farm. beautifully renovated barn, all creature comforts included. would happily stay there again

    Neil2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Fernyford Barn. The barn is finished to a really high standard and made for a really comfortable and relaxing stay. Dorota and Neil were really welcoming and helpful. Make sure you try the farm meat! Fernyford is a great location to base yourself to explore the Peak District. Already looking forward to a future trip back!

  • The whole experience from beginning to end was first class. Booking, communicating, payment, arrival, departure and during our stay. Dorota and her family were so welcoming and the location is peaceful and spectacular, with great views all around. We were able to go on a 10 mile walk straight from the door of where we were staying. The property was immaculate and well decorated with attention to detail. It was great to arrive to milk being in the fridge so that we were able to make ourselves a cup of tea! Thank you Dorota & Neil for such a wonderful experience staying at your lovely cottage.

    teresa2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say anything negative about this place. Neil and Dorothy are very friendly and helpful. Best maintained and equipped. The second floor has low and sloppy ceilings. Talk guests must move with extra care. Slow movements may be the best safety tips. Wifi works perfectly well. Have not tried the heating though. The cattles particularly the lambs are so wonderful. The cows with white stripes on black are first time seen in my life. This farm stay exceeded our already very high expectations.

    Victor2017-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay! Highly recommend. Perfect family break.

    Tracey2017-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic hosts and even better accommodation. The only disappointment was that we forgot to pick up some of the meat that was processed on the farm before we left! Highly recommend a stay here for families.

    Paul2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay, a complete home from home. Dorota and Neil have provided a lovely place for people to enjoy a fabulous holiday. The cottage is so well equipped, clean, decorated to a high standard and a real pleasure to stay in. The surroundings ensure that only pure tranquillity is felt during the holiday. We will be visiting again and recommending to others.

A rich, sumptuously decorated bedroom with en suite shower room in a warm family home. Property sits overlooking a nature reserve and Solomans Temple, country walks straight from the back door. Wander into our famous spa town with its impressive architecture, charm, opera house and festivals.
This is a deceptively spacious and well maintained home. We are on a typical residential street yet the location makes it special with a lovely view and direct access to the countryside. The guest room is an extension to the downstairs which gives you additional privacy. There is an offroad parking space nearby although the street is generally quiet and space available to park easily. The room is a comfortable double with memory mattress and plenty of space for a cotbed. Tea and coffee making facility, hairdryer and tv in the room.
Quiet residential area on the outskirts of Buxton.
  • Very warm and welcoming host, everything as described, would recommend and stay again, thanks very much

  • My stay at Andrea's place was exceptionally great! Andrea has a lovely family – when you there you can feel that the house is filled with love and care. She is a wonderful host, very kind and always ready to help: give a lift to the train station, provide you with tracking boots if it's raining outside or give you advice about your trip. Andrea provided me with valuable information about the town and the district – she has lots of maps and leaflets at hand. She was totally reachable by phone answering my messages immediately and taking care of my stay. My room was very cozy. Big comfortable bed, tight curtains (a had a really nice and warm sleep during 2 nights I was there), great view form the window. If you need a phone charger, a hairdryer or an extra towel – Andrea is ready to go an extra mile and provide you with everything – even a free breakfast with juices, tea or coffee. The house is located near a peaceful neighborhood. It's about 20-30 minutes walking from the city center. Tesco 24h is 10-15 minutes walking. A taxi from the train station to Andrea's cost about 6 pounds. If you want to visit Buxton, I strongly recommend you to stay at Andrea's place. I'd love to do it once again one day!

    Anna2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend staying at Andrea's place, she was a lovely, always there for a chat. Her food & drink recommendations were spot on! Can't wait to come back!

    Alicia2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • I had a fantastic stay at Andrea's house, not only was she very attentive and easy to communicate with, over air bnb and in person, but she gave me wonderful tips about the area and helped me to get around. Her family were absolutely lovely and helped me find my way around town and the room was clean, stylish and comfortable. The continental breakfast suited me well with toast, crumpets and cereal and all amenities functioned well. Really enjoyed my one night stay there!!! Thank you!

    Nilla2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent host, knowledgeable about the area and most helpful without being ott.

    Lindsey2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Andreas place is a good 20 minutes walk into the centre of Buxton, or longer if like us you pub crawl it there, but Its also on a bus route if you prefer. The views at the back of the property are stunning & the room with own bathroom is very comfortable. There is parking too although when we 1st pulled up it seemed tight but Andrea has off-road spaces so the parking is not a problem. She was very welcoming & helpful, friendly & chatty. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Mark2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • I really loved the cosy room, and the private clean bathroom. Andrea is a great host and made me feel welcome and relaxed . I loved the view of the woods and the fields with Horses in. It is a great location to explore Buxton from.

Set in a secluded hamlet in a picturesque area of the Peak District, Springhill Court is a 2 bedroomed 1st floor family apartment with stunning far-reaching views. It sleeps 4/5, but sadly does not have disabled access nor a shower in the vintage bathroom yet. This apartment is perfect for families as the tennis court is a dedicated safe play area for children including outdoor seating/eating arrangements. Parking for bikes and pushchairs too, plus your tennis rackets! No dogs, please.
The Peak District is best known for its dramatic gritstone edges, wild heather moorlands, mile upon mile of limestone walls, rivers, dales and hills making it one of Britain’s best-loved landscapes. Breathtaking scenery, hundreds of miles of footpaths and fresh country air makes Britain’s first National Park one of our country’s gems. Whether its exploring the countryside, enjoying any number of outdoor activities, ambling around one of its many country mansions or simply just getting away from it all, the Peak District won’t disappoint. This is what the Peak District is renowned for! And much more!
  • Our stay in the Peak District was lovely, the hosts were very friendly and helpful. If we ever had any queries they sorted them out as quickly as possible. As they are relatively new to the property there were a few issues with central heating and check out time, but this is understandable as they are still settling in to the place. Overall this was a lovely escape from the city to the peaceful northern countryside. It was lovely to see the amazing views outside the window and all the wildlife so closeby including cows, sheep, dogs and Bolton their pet pig, a hillarious and very welcoming resident!

    Jessica2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time walking around the hills and we visited Buxton as well.

    Carmen2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely couple of days away. Perfect location between Buxton and Bakewell. Accommodation was exactly as described and perfect for 2 of us but would be ideal for families too. The animals (Bolton the pig in particular! ) give that special feel. Would certainly recommend and likely return!

    Adrian2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth's place was so wonderful. We were 4 girls who wanted a nice city break for the weekend, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The location was beautiful and close to all the Peak District suggested sights (loved Chatsworth house and Monsal Trail). Cute towns are close where you can find good pubs and such. We really enjoyed the public footpaths right by the house, and also VERY much enjoyed the company of Bolton the pig. He also very much enjoyed our leftovers. Thanks for such a lovely weekend!

    Kristina2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly situated for pennine bridleway. Lovely cottage, great heating and hot water. Comfy bed and fluffy towels. Had put milk in fridge which helped. Ruth was friendly and efficient. I was very lucky in that I could stay with my horse as well who has a nice field for the night and a tacking up box, although I imagine that the availability of this is at Ruth's discretion. Resident pig very cool.

    Ele2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We have had a lovely few days with Ruth and Bill. The apartment was perfect for our needs the location was ideal for getting to other areas in the Peak District. We were greeted by all of the animals during our stay which was just lovely (dogs, horse, cats and Bolton the pig). The apartment was extremely clean and it was lovely to have essentials when we arrived such as milk, teabags and even ice cream! We would absolutely reccomend to other families - we were two adults and a 13 year old.

    Jason2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay in a beautiful location, perfect for exploring the Peak District. The flat was nice and comfy, it was lovely to find butter, milk, bread and juice in the fridge waiting for us and all the things we needed to self-cater over the weekend. The kids loved to see Bolton the Pig, to play tennis on the court and to generally explore. I'm sure we'll be back again in the future.

  • Dave was very accommodating and friendly and gave us a lot of useful information about the local area. The cottage was great and is warm and comfortable. It is situated a short walk from town which has all the shops, restaurants and pubs you could want as well as being close to the peak district national park. Overall, we had a great stay.

    Will2015-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Four of us recently stayed in one of Dave's stables which was brilliant. The accommodation is even better than it looks in the pictures and Dave was very friendly and helpful! The area was lovely too and nice and close to town. Dave can even recommend a running route to you if you fancy it!

    Emily2015-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Dave is a great host, friendly and knowledgeable with lots of local information. The cottage is lovely, impeccably clean and in a beautiful location. Walk into Buxton town is a nice 15 min stroll. The cottage is close to the Solomon's Temple and Poole's Cavern. Nice woods for a walk at the end of the lane. Would recommend and will return! Thank you Dave.

    Vlatka2015-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Dave was friendly and welcoming. The barn was perfect for what we needed. Lovely and warm with enough room for my sister, me and my baby niece. We walked into Buxton easily from the accommodation and enjoyed what it had to offer. Would definitely recommend.

    Helen2015-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely spot on cottage with everything we needed, added to our trip to Go Ape and Buxton which were easily within walking distance. Dave was a brilliant host who made us feel welcome and had the most beautiful surroundings on his farm. Would happily stay again, especially for the duck eggs and to entertain Louise with our 'stellar' horse-riding skills!

    Salome2016-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect for a family wanting a central, cost-effective base from which to explore the peak district. The house is beside a working riding school, but still nestled privately further up a lane. Very warm, very spacious, well-presented house. Lovely walks over the hill and into Buxton.

    Hilary2016-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • On our arrival at the cottage, Dave and other members of his family made us feel very welcome, while leaving us to settle in without unnecessary intrusions. He was very helpful at the start of our first full day in explaining shortcuts into Buxton town centre and local sights worth seeing. The cottage was located in an idylic setting and the description that appeared on the website was 100% representative of its amenities.

    Amany2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Dave for the wonderful home you provided to us. A great host, friendly personality. I was a bit lost and arrived quite late but Dave was waiting for me to check in. Everything was provided in the house, warm and clean. Check out is easy, just simply do some cleaning and left the key. I will certainly recommend this airbnb to all my friends who would like to go to peak district again.

  • Bernie was very pleasant and welcoming, the room was spotless, tea coffee provided, along with books and maps of the surrounding area. Only negative point is that the room she offers has shared facilities with Bernie ie the bathroom. There is also no separate entrance into the house/way to the room. Another issue was you could not lock the door to the room. That would have been nice. Overall a good pleasant stay in Buxton

    Aaron2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was an awesome stay in Buxton. Bernie is a very nice and friendly Person, who helps wäre ever she can. The rooms were very clean and the house is small and cute. Bernie shows you, how people live in Buxton. I want to go to Bernie next years again! :)

  • Bernie was a great host. She offered me and and my boyfriend a lot of help and tips for the walks we've done in the weekend. She also gave us her wonderful itinerary map. The house is positioned in a very quite area and three steps away you can find the footpath that takes to the Solomon temple, where you can see the entire view of Buxton. It was a lovely stay and we had some really nice chats. I really recommend her place for a nice hiking holiday.

A pleasant cosy room in a terraced house in the centre of Buxton situated on the edge of the Peak National Park.
A cosy and comfortable room containing a king size bed with a firm mattress. Why a King size bed in an average size room? The answer to that is, I'm afraid I am useless with a tape measure!! It can be a bit of a squeeze getting into bed but there is lots of space to move around once your in :) Lockable bedroom door. All bedding and towels are provided. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The bathroom: (shared with me) is right next door to the bedroom. Please note there is only a hand held shower in the bath and it is not designed to be a wet room. There is a smart TV in the room. Amazon prime and catch up TV is available but not regular programmes. If you decide to watch a film or series that does not have prime next to it on the menu there will be a charge for rental made by Amazon. Wifi is available so bring your lap top or iPad along with you. You are welcome to help yourself to breakfast cereals, yogurts and toast in a morning and use the dining table, plates and cutlery etc at other times to eat take away meals or to sit and have a drink. You can also use the microwave Outside space: you are able to use the outside areas. When the sun does shine it tends to be at the back of the house in the morning and at the front in the afternoons. I must add Buxton isn't favoured for its sunny weather!
Buxton lies just outside the National Park boundaries. There are lots of places to walk and explore with the Goyt Valley close by and Grinlow woods almost on our doorstep. Buxton is an old market and spa town nestling among the surrounding Derbyshire Hills at a height of 1000ft making it the highest town in England. It is often referred to as the Festival Town of the Peak District. My home is close to the Buxton Opera House, Pavillon Gardens and Art Centre, Serpentine Walk, Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, Pooles Cavern and Solomns Temple. There are a variety of micro breweries, bars, cafes and restaurants in the town.
  • I really enjoyed my stay in Sue's charming home. Sue was a wonderful host. The guest room was immaculately clean and comfortable. I could not ask for a better place to stay. I highly recommend Sue's house. Hopefully I will return to Buxton and stay in Sue's house soon again.

A comfy, well equipped 3 bedroom (4 Beds) House which is less than 10 mins walk to all of Buxton's attractions. A refreshing alternative to a local bed and breakfast or hotel.
The house has a park a couple of minutes walk from it and the main town centre is less than a 10 minute walk. It is a fresh, light & homely, well equipped house with everything you will need. The house gives you great flexibility and makes a pleasant alternative to all double rooms or a family room in local hotel or bed and breakfast. There is on road parking outside the house with no time restrictions. You are in central Buxton so everything is within walking distance including the fabulous Opera House and the historical Pavilion Gardens. Take a walk down the slopes to see the old Devonshire Dome & spa.

Our place is in a quiet, residential street less than 10 minutes walk from the centre of a beautiful Spa town. Buxton has lots to offer in terms of art, culture, cafes, bars and restaurants and of course the stunning Peak District countryside. Our home is very light and airy, has a very comfy bed and a clean modern kitchen and bathroom. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers alike and has convenient rail and bus links to Manchester and the surrounding areas.
We are an easy going couple who believe in offering a home from home experience for guests and the sort of cleanliness and comfort we would expect ourselves when travelling. The guest bedroom is warm and cosy with a very comfortable bed. It also has tea and coffee making facilities, a TV/DVD player and clock radio. The bathroom and kitchen are clean, modern and well equipped. Although the exterior of our home may be modest; once inside you will appreciate the light, airy feel and the homely surroundings. We have a lovely private garden which we use as much as possible and which you are welcome to enjoy. On cooler days we have a wood burning stove, which adds a cosy feel to the house. As we want you to feel at home, breakfast is a very relaxed, self service affair with plenty of cereals, toast, fruit juice, tea and coffee. We are also happy for you to cook in our kitchen, which is well equipped with a gas range, microwave and toaster. We just ask that you leave it as you find it.
We're fortunate to live in a very quiet, residential area with plenty of free on street parking. It is really convenient for the town centre and all that Buxton has to offer. Buxton Opera House, The Pavilion Gardens, Buxton swimming pool, The University of Derby and numerous bars, cafes and restaurants are all within a 10 minute walk from our house. We also have a 24hr Tesco/petrol station within a 3 minute walk.
  • Host was friendly, helpful with recommendations and made us feel comfortable and welcome. House and room was clean, had everything you would need and a was in a good location, within walking distance of the centre. Would stay again if we revisited Buxton!

  • Di's home is a wonderful place to make your home away from home when taking a trip to the Buxton area. Super clean, super nice family, breakfast was lovely, and a waiting cup of tea upon arrival. Di is very knowledgeable about the area, places to visit, restaurants, pubs, you name it, Di probably knows it. Everything inside their cozy home is just perfect for the traveler making their way to this picturesque town, and I don't think you could ask for a better local guide. Thanks so much for the wonderful weekend Di!

  • We stayed at the house for a family reunion 12 people for five days. We were welcomed and Dee had filled a basket w various foods which saves us from going shopping in the evening. There's is also a bar where you can pay. It's a beautiful house. Lots of bed rooms, all w en suite bathroom, a great professional kitchen which has everything, a nice huge dining room and a living room. The location is great. Minutes walk to cut it centre, nice country walks w views round the corner and all of the Peak easy accessible. Easy parking. So very charming house, fantastic hosts - couldn't be better and we hope to come back!

  • Our host ‘Dee ‘was very welcoming and supporting to my friends and family needs over the weekend. She welcomed us with a fresh fruit and chocolate cake, and showed us around the accommodation, which I can honestly say is absolutely beautiful. The rooms and on suites were very clean, presentable and comfy.

  • We had an absolutely brilliant weekend at Dee and Dave's beautiful home. Everything we could have wanted or needed was provided for. Very comfortable rooms, spotlessly clean and an all round pleasurable experience staying here. Dee was extremely responsive and helpful and went out of her way to provide recommendations and check that everything was all ok. Perfect spot for lovely walks and exploring this beautiful part of the country. Would definitely come back again and recommend to any and all. Thank you Dee and Dave!

  • Dee' s place was fantastic. The location was amazing, easy to get into Buxton, but also a great spot for getting out into the countryside. The kitchen was perfect for catering for a large group. The bedrooms had great beds and bathrooms. Dee made sure the check in an check out process was really easy and generally made the stay went smoothly. Would highly recommend.

  • We had a fantastic long weekend at this property. From the minute we arrived Dee and Dave were extremely hospitable and friendly. We had a mixed group of "oldies" and children all together to celebrate my Mum's 70th birthday and I can whole heartedly say that everyone had an amazing time and all love the accommodation. I would definitely recommend this property for big groups that want a relaxing and picturesque setting. Lots to do around the area and great to have the self catering flexibility.

  • A fantastic place to stay, the host made us all feel very welcome. The online description did not really do the place justice it exceeded our expectations.

  • We stayed at the house for a get together with all my uni friends and their children. (X3 under 1, and x2 3 year olds) We all had huge bedrooms with ensuites and we had all the space we needed. The kitchen was well equipt and had everything we needed. We were provided with a cot and two travel cots and all the babies were given highchairs to use which was a great help. We even had a cake left out on arrival! Thank you to Dee she was a fantastic host, great communication throughout and the house is perfect. Central to town, yet a quiet tree lined street. We would definitely recommend for anyone to stay at the house if you have a large gathering of friends or family. Only negative would be there is no downstairs toilet.

  • The house was absolutely fantastic. Everyone agreed that the rooms were all very tastefully decorated and the dining room was the perfect setting for our murder mystery evening. Dee and Dave were very helpful upon arrival and gave us a full tour of the house including the very well equipped kitchen. This venue offers really good value for money as the rooms are all en-suite and it is close enough to walk into Buxton if you fancy venturing out.

Room in small stone terraced house in Central Buxton
Large double bed in second floor room. The stairs are quite steep as its an old house. The room has its own wash hand basin and wifi connection. Its heated by a radiator from the central heating system and has tea and coffee making facilities. There's access to a shared bathroom with a shower over the bath and a small scullery/utility room containing a washing machine, drying rack and microwave oven. The kitchen is in the main living area and I dont mind you using it to prepare simple food but 5 course dinners wouldn't be appropriate
The house is on a nice quiet street with pleasant surroundings. The Pavilion gardens and market place are a stones throw away

  • Kath and Dick were wonderfully welcoming and very knowledgeable about Buxton and the surrounding area. The room was lovely and warm, spacious and comfortable, with an excellent selection of literature. The breakfast was a selection of cereal, toast and some fruit, which was ample. Their animals were also very endearing, especially their beautiful dog. A most friendly welcome in every sense of the word. We look forward to going back next year.

  • Just had a wonderful couple of nights at Kath & Dick's - they couldn't have made me feel more at home. Had so much in common & it felt so easy there I feel as though I've come away having made new friends. Lovely folk - no complaints about my early starts for my course & really inclusive - had a lovely Saturday evening with them seeing Buxton's Christmas lantern festival. My course was great too, so altogether a very successful & enjoyable weekend so my thanks to Kath & Dick,
