Mountain lodge is the place to escape the distractions in everyday life. Surround yourself in luxury whilst soaking up in the sauna or relaxing in the private hot tub after an adventure in the hills! whether you'r hiking, biking or driving there's plenty to keep you occupied throughout your stay.
Set your sights on the mountains by exploring through our walkers path or take a drive to Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons for a more challenging adventure, it's just under an hours drive to get your hike on in the highest peak in south wales. Don't forget to visit Outdoor matters whilst your down that way if you see yourself as a bit of a rock climber. Dan Yr Ogof National Showcaves centre of wales is just 25 minutes drive from the lodge, perfect day out with the children. Also don't forget there's Mumbles & Aberavon to visit for a beautiful walk along the beach front.
We are hidden away on the mountain, you will need to gain access to the property through a stone quarry. Don't panic it's only 30 seconds down a short hill until your on our gravel road :)
  • The lodge has a fab hottub outside under cover which is great day or night , you look out into trees and we would have loved for these to be cut down so we could have had a view of the wonderful Hills in the distance while enjoying the hot tub The lodge itself is quite compact but adequate for four people although we were surprised to see the sauna in the living room But once heated up this was a nice touch , everything was provided from towels to toiletries and the bottle of prosecco on arrival was a lovely thought which we all Enjoyed . We had complete privacy which was great we couldn't get a phone signal while there but could get wifi which came in handy when we needed to get in touch with june the host to help with the tv as we couldn't call her we ended up Having to email a few times but she did turn up within the hour and helped us understand how to get the. Channels etc We felt a dishwasher would have been great and a few items were chipped but this did not detract from our stay If you want a secluded place fir a few days with the luxury of a hottub this is the place for you

  • June really went above and beyond when it came to helping us during our stay! The lodge itself was spectacular. We felt so welcomed and very lucky indeed to be staying there! It's in a great remote spot and I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone!

  • Fantastic girly trip. The lodge was so beautiful, extremely clean and modern with a super comfy sofa and beds. Everybody slept well. The highlight was the hot tub we spent hours watching films and drinking wine. Perfect trip if you've booked you won't regret it. Excellent value for money. Thank you June. P.S the prosecco welcome was a very lovely touch.

  • Photos of the house don't do it justice. Perfect winter weekend get away... walking, relaxing, cheese and wine by the fire. June is the perfect hostess, even leaving us a bottle of fizz for our arrival. Highly recommend.

  • Couldn't have asked for more from our stay, beautiful place, secluded and everything you could need. We had drinks and music in the hot tub, had a bath with much appreciated bubbly and read our books on the comfiest sofa looking out over the hills. It really felt like a treat being there and we didn't want to leave! Will definitely come again. Thanks June!

My place is close to family-friendly activities, public transport, and nightlife. You’ll love my place because of the views, the location, the ambiance, the outdoors space, and the people. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
  • Stayed at Simons lovely home and enjoyed the beautiful, picturesque landscape of the Brecon beacons. We had 2 dogs with us who were very well accommodated and got on well with the owners dogs too. Simon was full of local information and couldn't be more helpful, a very enjoyable trip.

    Graham2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay with lovely hosts. Where very welcoming and accommodating. Cabin has enough space but no kitchen but that was ok as the kitchen in the house was open to use and very big with every utensil. Simon even gave us a cooking lesson when making a curry last night and showed us how to make one from scratch with just a pinch of a few ingredients. Breakfast was a large Range from cereals, yogurt, pastries and a fried breakfast so we ate very well. Would definitely recomend

    Andy2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great tranquil place to stay, relaxed and the hosts (Simon and Neeltje) were welcoming, friendly and helpful. So much so we decided to stay again the following week. Highly recommended for all kinds of stays.

    Lee2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was clean, bedroom was spacious and everything we needed was provided, towels, bottles of water etc. Simon is a great host who has lots of knowledge on the surrounding area. All in all we had a great stay!

    James2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We planned our trip to wales very last minute and Simon was kind enough to put us up! We were really worried whether we going to find somewhere to stay and Simon really helped as he responded to our request within half an hour which was 48 hours before we wished to arrive! The cabin was extremely clean and the fridge was stocked with the essentials we needed! Couldn't of been a better location as was only a few minutes away from the family we were going to see. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others!!

    Harry2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • I took my 2 teenaged girls away for a 2 night break which, was arranged completely at the last minute! We loved the peace and quiet, took a stroll along by the river where we did some stone skimming and spent an hour in the second hand book shop. We even took a trip to the beach at mumbles. The cabin was lovely and clean, the shower hot and the towels were super soft! There is a fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster in the cabin or you can use the kitchen in the house to make meals/dishwasher etc. The lounge has one of the double beds in but, that was okay for us. All in all a nice break away for us.

    Joanne2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my boy ( aged 10 ) stayed here and loved it a very easy going vibe and a great Base to work from so we could get out on our bikes. Simon could not have made us more welcome, top guy, great place what more can I say

    Dean2017-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Me and a mate visited Simons Log Cabin as we were joining a large group of Mountain Bike riders over in Afan Forest Park for the weekend. It was all planned a bit last minute and Simon was quick to reply and very welcoming! We unfortunately arrived very late and was not able to meet our hosts on arrival but Simon ensured we had entry and accommodated our late arrival. The cabin is extremely clean and spacious with a few creature comforts supplied. He had a 5-star review as soon as we found fresh ground coffee in the fridge and a cafetière for us to use The next day after our little adventure we got back and Simon very kindly let us use his washing machine to wash our ride gear ready for the next ride as its was wet and muddy. We felt so welcome and the location is the perfect hub for our adventures that we are actually staying another night to further explore the area. Excellent hosts, fantastic accommodation and beautifully scenic area. Highly recommend staying here.

Down a country lane sits a 150+ year old cottage restored by myself since 2013. Placed at the foot of the Black Mountains and Brecon National Park, wonderful views of mountains and countryside from the back garden. Close to the market town Ammanford, Llanelli and Swansea. Traditional cottage with beams, interior stone walls and fire place. Bedroom includes king-size memory foam mattress, wardrobe and drawers. Ideal for hikers, site-seeing, get aways to the countryside. LGBTQ friendly.
My cottage is one room wide, with windows to the front and rear. Rear views to garden and mountains / village of Garnant in the distance. Pet on property is only one cat
I live in Tir-Syr-Walter which is a small collection of houses and cottages on a country lane as part of Garnant in Carmarthenshire. A peaceful, rural location in the Welsh countryside
Gracias Alex

  • Woodland Cottage is situated in a quiet valley away from the main road providing a beautiful and peaceful getaway, perfect for a single person or a couple. The cottage has been renovated to an amazingly high standard by Alex, the proprietor, with great attention to detail. We decided to book as a stop-over on our way to St David’s. Alex was away so we checked ourselves in and out with ease and Alex gave full instructions on how to do so. Communicating with Alex was easy through the AirBnB app and he answered our few questions within minutes! Before finding our room we were incredibly impressed with the cottage and how beautifully Alex has designed and decorated the interiors; simple, clean, uncluttered, welcoming and cosy. It's one of those places where you feel at home immediately. Cody, the house cat, appeared and welcomed us with an abundance of affection and playfulness, a real character. If you are looking for a rural, tranquil getaway then Woodland Cottage is perfect. The bedroom is in the apex of the house with views out on to the rolling hills and the garden. There is a large comfortable bed with the freshest linen and towels I've ever encountered. Bottles of water are provided along with a large bar of chocolate. Alex also left us some fresh croissants for the next morning. The bathroom is next door to the room and, again, is beautifully designed. The shower is just amazing, one of the best showers I have ever had away from home, better than any hotel! I cannot recommend Woodland Cottage enough. We loved it and felt really comfortable and 'at home' there. So much so, we booked again for another stop over on our way home... and this time Alex would be there... You read about that in our second review... The ONLY negative about this place is that you have to leave it!

    Justin2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely room in a wonderful cottage in the Brecon, within easy distance of restaurants and the Brecon Beacons for hiking. Alex was a great host, and very helpful in accommodating our schedule. Definitely somewhere we would stay again!

    Alistair2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Woodland Cottage again as a stop-over on our way back from a week’s holiday in St David’s. Our previous stop-over was spent in the cottage alone as Alex, the proprietor, was away. On this second stop-over Alex was in residence. My partner and I were slightly reticent about booking a room in an 'occupied' house but we thought it was something we should try... We returned from our dinner (Indian restaurant in Ammanford called Ameanahs - recommended) to be met by Alex and within minutes we were chatting and relaxing with a bottle (or two) of wine. Alex is an easy-going chap who makes you feel very welcome in his home; I would imagine he would get along with anyone! Even though we spent a couple of hours chatting with Alex he is not a pushy host - if you wanted to just come home and go up to the room I am sure he would happily wish you a good night and off you go... Spending time with Alex is not compulsory but we loved it and can highly recommend it! (p.s. wine is not included in your stay; we had a few bottles in the car!). Alex is a GREAT host. I cannot recommend staying at Woodland Cottage enough, there are no negatives we could think of! Look at the Alex’s pictures on the site, read our reviews and then just book; I don’t think anyone would regret it. Alex has created a really special cottage as his home but luckily has decided to share it with us all and what a great thing that is... As I said in my previous review the only sad experience you will have here is when you leave!

  • Alex was a great host welcoming and helpful. His place's really nice and cosy, everything was very clean. The house has an amazing view of the hills and it's close to Brecon. I'd definitely recommend it to others.

  • Enjoyed a tremendous weekend at Woodland Castle! Alex was a very welcoming host, helping us check-in late at night, interesting to chat too and recommending good places to visit. The house was spotless, the bed comfortable and the shower powerful. Our every need was met. Would highly recommend a stay here.

The location felt a bit deserted and bleak, but if you don't want to see other people it would be OK. Amazing war memorial at the end of the road. Good value.

Glynderi is ideally situated for a relaxing escape into the Welsh Countryside and has easy access to the Black Mountain (Mynydd Du) & Carmarthen Fans, beaches along the Carmarthenshire Coastline, tremendous well preserved castles, forested reservoir walks , nature reserves and the market towns of Ammanford, Llandeillo and Llandovery. An ideal hub for cyclists, motorcylists/sports drivers and hikers or for those who simply want a quiet break away in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Glynderi is ideally situated for those who enjoy Cyclists, motorcyclists, climbers, walkers, hikers, recreation, mountain views, photography, countryside. Guests will enjoy the whole property which has been sympathetically restored to maintain the Welsh spirit of how it would have looked and felt when built in the late 1800's. This combined with all modern conveniences, fully equipped kitchen, beds with luxury mattresses (Back in Action MirrorForm) and high-quality pillows and bed linen helps ensure you have the most pleasant and comfortable stay possible. We want our guests to relax and sleep well!!
Very quiet, secluded area. There are takeaways, shops, pharmacies petrol garages and a range of pubs located at the villages of Brynamman and Garnant just a mile or so from the property. Tescos and Lidl supermarkets are located in the towns of Ammanford and Pontardawe.
  • Glyndri was one of the high end airbnb I have been to. The place was lately renovated and everything was brand new, the place was so clean we could literaly eat off the floor. The place is well located so within a few minutes drive you could find places to eat, grocery stores and you could find walking paths from right out the door. with all that, the place was very quit. We had a great time with a family of five.

Christopher was a grrat host always helpful and quick to respond to any queries. We enjoyed moutain biking, walking and visiting national trust places. The gold mines was a great experience. We also visited the beach at Mumbles which is a beautiful part of the world.

  • From the moment I requested the booking Beverley was helpful and attentive, clearly keen to ensure that every detail was looked after. My enquiries beforehand were dealt with promptly and courteously. On arrival at the cottage everything was exactly as described, with a few nice extra touches, like chocolates and a bottle of wine, how good is that?! I also want to give a shout out to Caron too; everything is so well looked after and nothing too much trouble. Now my friends and family will all confirm, that I am not a good traveller, I like going places, but not to stay, I like my own home and creature comforts. I can honestly say that this is the first occasion when I've actually felt truly at home, away from home. Little things like the nice bedding and towels make all the difference, not to mention the well equipped kitchen and the cosy accommodation. The location is perfect too, there is soooo much to explore, there's plenty on the doorstep, but if you wish to see some of the most stunning sights and are willing to put some effort in, mountains, beach, lakes and waterfalls, are all within reach. I absolutely love this place and it's the first time I've ever said I'd come back to the same destination.

  • The cottage was exactly as described, very comfortable, and a nice welcome surprise of wine, cheese, bread and coffee. Well placed for all the local attractions and amenities. Definitely worth a visit!!

  • Lovely family cottage with a fabulous garden. Great communication from Beverley and everything just as described. Easy to find and very secure parking provided. Great location for heading to the Brecons (four waterfalls only a short drive away) as well as the beach. Plenty of board games on hand to keep the family amused as well!

  • A lovely, clean and well equipped cottage on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, secluded enough for peace and quiet, but still within an hours driving distance to the big cities of Cardiff and Swansea. It had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay. Beverley is a wonderful host and has thought of everything to give the cottage that modern yet homely feel and it has a wonderful garden. She keeps in touch every step of the way. Very highly recommended. Thank you Beverley. X

  • They were delayed by work but phoned us to advise where to find the key .The village is near the mountains and a river and has pretty views ,supermarkets are within reach near by via car . There are 2 pubs one only a short step away both serving excellent food ,the nearer Farmers Arms a more traditional pub offers a very warm welcome . The accommodation is everything shown and more, very warm and comfortable with tea, coffee and sugar supplied also milk biscuits and Welsh Cakes .The hosts went the extra mile to be helpful to us offering advice and help when it was asked for. It made our visit to Wales to meet family for a War Memorial Dedication even better knowing we had a lovely property to return to with considerate hosts.

  • Excellent accommodation with everything you could need. I was there working but it makes a great base for a holiday too as it's close to Swansea, Llanelli and Llandeilo. Ian and Marette were great hosts, nothing was too much trouble and The Lodge was spotlessly clean.

  • Very nice and super tidy place we found it extremely relaxing and peaceful. Ian was really helpful whenever we needed anything, I can't recommend staying at their house enough. • Stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend, Ian was very friendly (didn't see much of Maretta, but I assume she was just as nice!) Very cute little lodge easy to get to and local to Gower+Brecon Beacons which is why we chose it! The apartment was very clean, freeview TV, massive fridge and oven, microwave, washing machine and kettle, walk in shower, not a thing I would have changed and would've probably stayed longer if we had had the chance! Local area was very nice, Tescos, Lidl, few Pubs and takeaways. I'd recommend this to Anyone as we had a lovely experience, perfect for couples and families

  • Ian was very welcoming and helpful, and the lodge was just as we'd expected - very comfortable and spotless. Loved the homely decor and the light and airy rooms. Good pub food and takeaways within a few minutes' drive. If you're looking for a quiet location within reasonable driving distance of the national park, this is a perfect place to stay.

  • Both the hosts and the accommodation were lovely. In a great location that enabled us easy access to the Brecon Beacons and other locations. Hosts warm and welcoming with great tips on where to go and always available for help if you have any problems. Accommodation had everything we needed, bed is a double which is on the small side for my partner who is 6"6 but we slept well, wifi connection is a bit hit and miss, but not a problem if this is not a necessity. Kitchen very well equipped, including an oven and washing machine. Overall very comfortable accommodation, feels secure tucked back off the road with nice touches including biscuits and milk!

  • Great value, clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation for two people, I stayed with my son and dog and it was perfect for our needs. We were provided with tea, coffee, milk and cereal which was a nice touch. There is a park opposite the accommodation which is really useful if you are a dog owner, shops and chippy just a few minutes walk.

  • Simon's house is large and cosy, very sociable with the sharing spaces which can accommodate a lot of people including kitchen, diner, outdoor patio and BBQ area. We had the master room with the balcony which was exceptional. Comfy duck feather bed, amazing views through the private balcony and even jets in the tub and separate waterfall shower! It was my girlfriend's birthday so Simon kindly gave us a bottle of prosecco to share on ice with champagne glasses. We enjoyed the evening BBQ with Simon and other guests on the communal fire pit as well. Simon's dogs are also brilliantly trained and good fun to play with. I highly recommend a stay here.

  • Stayed at Simon's whilst attend the BMW Off Road Skills course... Simon was an extremely hospitable host! My mate and I got upgraded to the top floor, so we had our own private lounge! Breakfast was an absolute treat and set us up nicely for the day ahead. He was always asking if we needed anything... Even though we came back really muddy it wasn't a problem. I highly recommend Simon's place and do hope to stay there the next time I am in Wales

  • Do you know the feeling when you enter your own house, kick off you're shoes, get a drink, relax on the sofa and feel at home? Well that's what I felt entering Simon's house. I loved my 4 night staying so thank you all, Simon, Steve and Carly for making me feel at home! Me and my dog slept two nights in the cabin and two nights in the house and both were very comfortable. The surrounding area is beautyfull and it's a good place to go walking in the Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons or the coastal area more south. I would definitly recommend it to other people!

  • Simon made me feel very welcome and at home. A wonderful host. The best full English breakfast I have ever had made from local produce and eggs from the garden chickens!

  • My GPS had slightly led me astray the day before, so I called Simon to see where I was & where I had to go. From the first moment on the call, he had a smile in his voice, and that goes a long way with me. After he talked me to his tree-lined driveway, he met me in the car park with that same smile on his face, and enthusiasm in his voice. His home is in amazing little town, and the views from his breakfast "nook" are second to none. My room was spacious, and had an excellent private ensuite that was very welcome. Simon provided an excellent recommendation for dinner, organised the reservation for me, and directions for the 15min walk. His chosen pub/restaurant was great, mainly for the friendliness of the patrons and staff. When I came back later, he and his wife invited me in to chat with them, and I had a great time. He's very knowledgeable about all the local walks & hikes too, which I greatly appreciated. And what can I say about breakfast other than "you defeated me!". Simon takes a lot of pride in providing a hyper-local (the omelette from his own ducks' eggs was a highlight!) meal, and with the view out of the windows, he's onto a winner! This stay was a real highlight of my UK short trip.

    Ben2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • I had a really lovely stay at Simon's while I was visiting the area to see old friends who were themselves over from the US visiting family. It's a very comfortable setting, with nice areas to relax and enjoy the stunning views and a very comfortable bedroom. Simon was incredibly friendly and helpful and also went out of his way to include and welcome my friends even though they were not staying here. I think it's a great spot if you want to get out and do some hill-walking or similar activities. And Simon's breakfast would definitely rank among the best I've ever had!

    Deborah2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you're staying in Brecon, then stay here! The most lovely dogs and a really knowledgeable and accommodating host.

  • Simon was abroad during our stay so we did not meet him. His communication however both prior to and during our stay was absolutely fantastic. I was also very grateful to Simon for accommodating our dog. The house is beautifully designed and very spacious. The bed was very comfy in the en-suite room with the balcony. The views are stunning. We were welcomed by the live in residents Carly, Justin and Andy. They were very friendly, helpful and hospitable. It was a real pleasure to meet them. The location was perfect and we took a day trip to Tenby Beach which was stunning. Overall a enjoyable trip with no problems.

Andy and John welcome you to our home, a former dairy, Carreg Yr Ogof (which means Stone Cave) and 'The Cobblers Cottage' (your accommodation) which dates back 300 years, a stone built annex attached to our cottage on the edge of the lovely Brecon Beacons in Llandyfan. The traditional, cosy, Welsh cottage has a lockable connecting door and a separate private outside entrance. We welcome guests of all backgrounds and well behaved dogs.
We offer clean and comfortable accommodation comprising of a standard double bed with bedside tables and individual reading lights, seating area, TV with DVD player, log burner (logs supplied), WIFI, and a small hanging space for clothes. Slippers are provided for guests as there is a stone floor. The kitchen/dining area contains a small dining table and chairs, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, kettle and complimentary hospitality tray. All utensils are provided. Guests can also enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast consisting of cereals, bread, butter, jams, milk, orange juice, local spring water and a fruit basket. Bathroom consists of a rain shower, sink and toilet (no bathtub). Fresh towels are provided. Guests should note that the property is not suitable for wheelchair access as there are some steps and the general area is hilly. Mobile phone reception is very poor, however there is wifi available.
Llandyfan (pronounced Llandyvan) is a small quiet village that derives its name from a saint of the name 'Dyvan' who came to Wales from Rome about the year 180. Carreg Yr Ogof is next to the small Church and Holy Well. The house is approx. 3 miles from Carreg Cennen Castle which sits high above the river Cennen. Other local amenities include a traditional pub that serves home cooked food about 2 miles away, fishing, golf course, cycling, walking and two equestrian centres. The whole area is designated a 'dark skies area' and has recently been listed as the best place in the UK to observe the night sky.

  • The "cottage" was much more than a cottage: it was a major conversion with large spacious bedrooms and bathroom on the top floor and a very welcoming living room, dining area and kitchen on the ground floor. Alan and Angela's grounds were stunning and the surrounding area was beautiful. And so close to the idyllic Dinefwr Castle!

    Julian2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is just such a wonderful cottage. Alan and Angela are wonderful hosts and the cottage and setting are wonderful. We are hoping to return to Wales in three years and this be at the top of our list of places to stay.

    Bruce2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect weekend get away! Angela and Alan are more than welcoming and go to great lengths to make you feel at home and looked after, from the warmest of greetings to the home made cake as a welcoming. The property itself was very easy to find thanks to Alan's directions and beautifully comfortable. The grounds are great and close to all the local shops and country walks. Impossible to fault and would highly recommend to anyone thinking about a trip to the Brecon beacons!

  • Thanks Alan and Angela for a really wonderful stay! The cottage was simply beautiful - gorgeous kitchen, lovely sitting room with the log fire which we both adored and probably the comfiest bed I've slept in. And a really big thanks to you both for making us feel so welcome, giving us great advice as to where to go and for just being such warm and generous people (oh and the yummy tea cake too). We hope to make it back to Wales again for more exploring. Thanks and all the best!

    Samar2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Truly wonderful property and hosts, Alan and Angela made us feel feel comfortable and welcome from the moment we parked up (Angela's home made Bara Brith is worth going there for alone!). The property was absolutely perfect to relax in, the layout is fantastic and feels much more like a real home than a holiday property (it seems clear that the hosts have actually spent time living in the cottage as the layout and provisions are far better than the vast majority of holiday cottages we have stayed in)- there are a lot of great things to say about the cottage, more than words here permit, so to highlight a few: Beautifully presented throughout, Lovely open fire, great big range cooker and well provisioned kitchen, lovely personal touches throughout and lots of personal outside space in beautiful grounds, I think that practically every need was catered for. The location is perfect for exploring the area - you can easily get to the Gower, Brecon Beacons, Carmarthen, Pembrokeshire and all the towns, sites and attractions they offer... not that we needed to really, we live relatively locally and were just there to relax and get away from the rat race - but if you are looking to explore the region, then this is the place for you. We really can't speak more highly of the cottage and our hosts... everything was perfect and we are looking forward to visiting again. Thank you Alan and Angela!

  • It's described as a lovely cottage and it certainly is. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night. We'd loved to have had a chance to use the outside patio to eat. Clean, bright and well designed. Perfect for a couple.

Perfectly situated near the stunning Carreg Cennen Castle and with a lovely remote feel, yet near enough to shops and restaurants, including the local pub, which did great food! Karen was onsite to welcome us and onhand during our stay to answer our questions. We loved it so much, we stayed an extra night :-)

  • Had a fantastic stay. The apartment was lovely, in peaceful surroundings, with a lovely decked area to sit and listen to the birds and the occasional sheep was bliss. Karen the host was lovely she was around if you needed anything. Over all staying here was just the start of a brilliant weekend.

Lodge in unspoilt position on the edge of the Black Mountains, next to Carreg Cennen Castle. Pretty village with pub and beautiful walks. Comfortable house with under floor heating, Jacuzzi bath and games room with full size pool table, big garden.
  • We stayed here as a group of 4 adults and 4 teenagers and the house was perfect for us in terms of space and bedroom layout. It is a very quiet location which is lovely but also near enough to larger towns for shopping etc. The house is well equipped and very comfortable. It was lovely to have the owners across the road in the pub where they have a wide selection of good food - an added bonus.

  • Cennen Lodge is a beautiful house located in a idyllic setting. It was easy to find as it is right opposite of the owner's pub. The house was well equipped with everything you need for self catering. The house is very spacious with a large kitchen which has underfloor heating. It was cosy and warm throughout. We loved the view over the Carreg Cennen castle. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We will return in the summer to explore Brecon Beacon.

  • The annex is small (not suitable for those with lots of luggage or who want to hang up clothes) but private with a good ensuite bathroom. The bed is comfortable with decent bedding. The house is reached by driving midway up a narrow track, which means you have good views from the terrace in front of the room. There is Wifi available, albeit with relatively poor speeds, and plenty of plug sockets in the room. Toiletries and towels were provided. Not suitable if you have a dog hair allergy, as the friendly dog had been in the room before we arrived.

My cottage is a true character build. It is approximately 400 years old give or take a few years. It is steeped in old world charm, you will not be disappointed with your stay. You will enjoy the comfort of a large double bedroom with stone walls and old wooden floor. Downstairs you will also have the comfort of a private living room where you can relax in front of a warm log fire.
My cottage is beautiful. If you want to stay somewhere different and cosy this is the place. Visitors have told me as they walk through the door they immediately start to relax. It's a place that modern life has left behind, if you want hustle and bustle then my home definitely doesn't fit the bill it is far too laid back for that!
Llandybie is one of the largest Villages in Wales and there are several shops within Llandybie. There is a co op just seconds from my cottage. I am situated on the square in Llandybie and have outside parking available. The cottage is in the perfect location, Llandeilo town is only 5 Miles away and Ammanford is 2. 5 Miles it is in a very central location for travel. There is plenty to see within this location such as castles, country parks ect . Dinefwr Park in Llandeilo is beatiful and Carreg Cennen is well worth a visit. I am so close to the Brecon Beacons I can almost smell the mountain air!

  • Elaine's place is quaint, comfortable and unique. She and her Mum were very friendly, kind and hospitable, making me feel very welcome. Elaine even offered to give me lifts to and from the party I was going to, which was a few miles away. She even gave me a key so I could get back into the house later without disturbing her. I spent a very cosy night in Elaine's house. It felt like a home from home. She also has a fabulous dog! Thank you Elaine.

  • This is a fantastic place to stay. Elaine is a host who understands people and goes out of her way to ensure the best of stays. She was simply great and her family too. Peivacy if you want it or full on family inclusion with a happy heart if you want that instead. Tremendous value for money in a place that was just right for me attending the local ACOP crane training school.

  • This place is amazing in every way! The cottage is beautiful and well equipped, the location is stunning and Mali is very nice and helpful. The perfect place to stay if you like to visit the brecon beacons.

  • We had a wonderful stay in this lovely cottage, just on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, and with a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. Mali was very welcoming. We had everything we needed for our stay and really appreciated the yummy Welsh cakes she offered us. Highly recommend a stay in this cottage.

  • Brilliant. Beautiful. Charming. We are a family of 5, and loved it!!! Rugby field and garden for the kids to play, fireplace, cable TV, wifi, all a family needs in a place that has so much character!!! Straight from 1804 but dates back probably to 1690. We would not hesitate in staying here again. Mali is a wonderful host. Caring and has a creative flair and attention to detail. She'll look after you and make you feel special.

    Stuart2014-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mali made us feel so welcome from the outset- we were a group of six twenty-somethings from London, looking to find a peaceful spot to study for university exams. Mali greeted us with a batch of welsh cakes which she continued to feed us throughout our stay :) The cottage was beautiful and equipped with everything we needed. I was ill quite a lot of the time so stayed in the cottage and nearby surroundings ( we had a lot of garden to ourselves) but the others managed to make some trips to nearby beaches and waterfalls. We all had a very restful few days and would highly recommend to others. Thank you for being such a kind host Mali and we hope to come back in the future. Jenny, Emilie, David, Taeko, Gen & Helena.

  • A beautiful cottage, immaculately presented with lots of thoughtful touches. This cottage is in a superb location, peaceful and quiet - within easy reach of Swansea and the Gower peninsular and the Brecon Beacons(URL HIDDEN)loved the white bedding, the good quality towels, the tasteful furnishings and the well equipped kitchen. Many thanks

  • Mali was a great host and the days we stayed at the cottage were amazing. The house was over the expectations and everything was just as cosy and welcoming as you can expect. It's located in a small village in South Wales, close to nice outdoor areas. If you love nature, amazing landscapes, hills, waterfalls, forests and trails, this is your spot. Brecon Beacons national park is less than an hour away, as well as the Waterfall Centre or even the coast. If you enjoy mountain biking, there are several spots nearby with different levels of difficulty, from easy trails to advanced descents. Also, as a bonus, South Wales - and Breacon Becons National park more specifically - is part of the Dark Sky Foundation, allowing you to enjoy amazing views of the stars and the milky way during the nights. Regarding the cottage, we were 5 - two couples and one teenager - and we had no issues fitting in. It's nice and big, and everything is ready for your stay. The kitchen was one of the highlights, with modern decoration. Also worth mentioning is regarding the location. Although it's close to many local points of interest, you'll need a car to move around. The cottage is on top of a steep hill that you'll need to drive up and down to get anywhere. Finally, as a bonus, the cottage has framed art in most of the rooms and hallways, all of them made by the talented host, Mali. :)

The Guest House, which sits at the end of a long private track, is a beautifully converted stone barn, deep in the quiet heartlands of the scenic Brecon Beacons National Park. Inside, the Guest House has been designed for relaxation. It is a warm and welcoming space with a large, well-equipped family kitchen, cosy sitting room, comfortable bedrooms and warm modern bathrooms. Outside, there is a pretty garden, plus 9 acres of wild grassland, with views to Llyn y Fan Fach and beyond.
We are in the west of the National Park, an area designated a Geopark. There is immediate access from the property to the Black Mountain and the National Park. The Barn Guest House is ideal for people wanting to escape emails and phones - though if you need to catch up, you are welcome to use the wifi in our nearby cottage. There are board games to play, streams to paddle in, red kites to watch and amazing views. A selection of delicious ready meals, prepared by Cavendish Cooks of Bath, are available to purchase.
It's very quiet here - great for walking and very popular with cyclists, as we're just 1 mile off the route of some serious cycling! There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby (Aberglasney Gardens; Garn Coch; National Botanic Gardens; Carreg Cennen Castle) and the nearest town, Llandeilo, is very pretty, with many independent shops. You'll hear Welsh spoken, but everyone also speaks English. The people here are very friendly and welcoming.
  • Sylvia was very welcoming & friendly. The Guest House is spacious & very well equipped to a high standard. We really appreciated the Welsh cakes, milk & juice left in the fridge - a welcome touch to greet us after a long, fractious journey! Lovely toiletries, soft towels & bedding added a luxurious feeling to our stay. Although the journey along the track to the Guest House is quite challenging in parts, the destination is well worth the effort!

  • We arrived with a birthday card, chocolates & welsh cakes! Lovely surprise as it was my partner's bday! It's a stylish place with plenty of books, puzzles & jigsaws etc to keep you & the guests occupied when it rains! The place is very spacious which was great as we took 3 dogs with us. Sylvia was very helpful when we asked for a local pub which was dog friendly. Got to meet Charlie the dog who was cute! The public footpath was literally on your doorstep. Will look to book here again in the future. Would highly recommend!

  • The place is absolute paradise for those who want to run away from all the city noise. Views are spectacular and ponies make the stay even more magical. Sylvia gave such a great directions that we didnt even have to use navigation at all! Definately reccomend this place to everyone! :)

  • A big thank you to Sylvia - she is an incredibly prepared host - nothing is too much trouble and she thinks of everything. She knows the area well, and quite extensively, so her file in the guest house is very well equipped for all kinds of people staying. (In terms of interests, hobbies and places to eat or visit). The guest house itself is gorgeous, clean and modern and has lots of goodies to keep you entertained in terms of books, puzzles and outdoor games. My daughter enjoyed playing the piano too. ((URL HIDDEN) has a volume control!) The guest house is quite separate to the main house - so you have enough privacy, but also close to hand for a hello and a chat if you need anything. We have a 7 year old daughter and a little dog and we were really happy with the accommodation. The kitchen is very well equipped (although no microwave..just to note for any parents who need one...but wasn't a problem for us, the oven and stove were great). You also have a BBQ at your disposal (a lovely Weber) - although we didn't get to use it, we were out and about most days. The guest house is a little remote, so just prepare for slightly longer drives for day trips - but its the quietness and remoteness we wanted, so we were pleased. We even climbed the mountain behind the house which my husband was uber chuffed with having on his doorstep. There is also a little stream which my daughter loved to splash about in (not even ankle deep - so safe for a play). Again, thanks to Sylvia for a lovely break which we desperately needed.

  • A wonderful, remote hideaway. Very well presented accommodation, with a wonderful host that we would recommend to anyone who love the great outdoors.

  • Had an amazing time staying at Sylvia's. Really friendly and welcoming. Beautiful location. The house has a great open plan kitchen/dining/living area with excellent amenities and cooking equipment. Bedrooms are super comfortable, excellent en suites as well. Highly recommend the house - had a great time!

    Ali2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a find!!! The accommodation is modern (choice of shower or roll top bath) and spotlessly clean (something very important to this reviewer!). It is simply stunning. The location is secluded, peaceful and tranquil actually on the black mountain. Ideal for walkers with access to the surrounding areas. Vehicle access is via a single track over farmland but what a fabulous place when reaching the destination. My husband and I will most definitely return.

The market towns of Llandovery and Llandeilo, are also within a short drive, they have boutique shops, cafe's, restaurants and antique markets, all worth a visit.
  • Shona's farmhouse is absolutely beautiful. It is positioned right in the heart of the countryside and is the perfect retreat for a quiet break and some great walking. It is a good 15/20 minute drive from any shops so you need to be prepared. We organised a Tesco delivery , which was perfect. The scenery is breathtaking and the farmhouse itself is wonderfully furnished and equipped. The pictures on this site do not do it justice. You will have a wonderful stay. Thanks so much Shona.

  • A wonderful stay at a fabulous farmhouse. We had a great time and loved the beautifully finished and appointed house. It was cosy warm and a great space to relax in between walks. It was remote, as we’d hoped, with the barns nearby but not intrusive. Although we never met, Shona and Lance were great hosts from communication prior to arrival and answering queries whilst we were staying. We would thoroughly recommend Rhiwddu.

Rhiwddu farmhouse is a traditional country family home with all the mods and cons for comfortable living yet retaining it's rustic feel.Ideal for switching off from outside world unwinding in front of the inglenook fireplace and exploring various walking trails, caves and waterfalls in Brecon Beacons. We had an amazing time at shona/lance's place.

The host also had great knowledge of the local area so able to guide us to what we wanted to see and was always there if we needed something. We would highly recommend this as a place for anyone looking for a holiday in the area!

  • The cottage was beautiful and well presented exceptional value considering the details and trouble gone to make it welcoming. The grounds were lovely the girls really enjoyed the feed left to fatten up the sheep, and we used the cottage as base to good effect. Gerrard was exceptionally welcoming and we really think this is a super stay for anyone considering the area. Thank you Gerrard and god bless.

And Gerard makes the difference. Communication was excellent from the very beginning and he is very welcoming. We were given a tour around the house and the surrounding land, explaining everything in detail. Gerard also gave us a lots of tips about the area, which by the way is lovely. We got to explore it a bit and loved it. There are also great restaurants with excellent food around. Very much recommended. We even got fresh eggs one night. Bonus!!! :)

A relaxing and peaceful stay welcomes you in this friendly and Arty house. Great views over the Welsh countryside. Chill out and have a private art lesson in Painting or do some pottery. Look forward to meeting you soon. Welcome!
We have three double bedrooms available so can accommodate six people. One is in a separate annex and it has it's own en-suite shower and toilet Air BnB doesn't seem to allow you to link rooms on the pricing so if more than two are staying please ask and we will send you an offer. The room is spacious and light with a comfy double bed. The bathroom is also spacious with a stand alone shower and is right next to the room. We have our own bathroom so no queuing hopefully :) The property is on a farm in the countryside, so expect peace and quiet. Almost no light pollution - so some beautiful starry nights when clear. Plenty of safe parking. There are also patios to sit out on ans see the far reaching views. Llandeilo is a beautiful town with many restaurants, pubs, independent shops and places of interest. Jacki is a working artist. She also teaches art so if you fancy an arty day or weekend or your visit coincides with one of her classes you are invited to join in. Extra charges apply. She is a painter, and a sculptor in clay, www.Jacki.Yorkes.co.uk. We have another double bedroom but additional charges for the extra room will apply. We also have another annex with a double bed if you all want your own space. We are in the countryside, not in a village. A car is recommended although there is a bus stop about 1/2 mile away with buses that run from Swansea to Llandeilo. There is also Llandybie train station a few miles away. We can usually pick/drop people by prior arrangement.
We are in the countryside. Llandeilo Pottery and Art Studio. Carreg Cennan Castle Dynevor House. The Black Mountains. The Angel at LLandeilo. The red Lion. The Gower. Pembrey.

  • Really welcoming hosts with a lovely comfortable house. There was another couple staying in their annex and you'd never have known (we met because we were leaving at the same time). The views from the house are stunning. It's so so quiet. No traffic noise, no light pollution. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom lovely and clean. Breakfast was then provided and Paul made me scrambled eggs which were lovely! Lovely hosts, very friendly and we had the freedom to come and go as we chose.

  • Beacons Barn is in an incredible setting in the heart of Wales. We loved driving past all the sheep and glorious green hillsides and enjoyed the calm and coziness of the barn. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the living area is cozy with plenty of seating for a big family. We came with our four teen age children and enjoyed playing games at the big dining table. It is a lovely spot and we met nice guests who were staying on the property as well! Shona gives great information about the area and is very helpful with questions and further information if needed.

  • We stayed for 2 days, ocupied 2 rooms and had a lounge on the third floor for ourselves. Simon has a nice big house, friendly dogs and great views! we had an amazing breakfast with plenty of homemade jems and local eggs. We took a fishing trip, so brought some fish with us and Simon kindly cooked it for us. It was very nice of him. Can't wish for more! Highly recommended :) thank you Simon and Emma for being so kind!

  • We had a fabulous stay at Simon's place. We stayed in the cabin which was spacious and the bathroom was great. Breakfasts were fantastic; a massive Welsh cooked breakfast, along with the homemade jams which were delicious, with great views! Wormhead and Carreg Cennen castle were suggested places to visit and they did not disappoint. I would highly recommend staying at Simon's place if you are ever visiting the Brecon Beacon national park!

Annex with en-suite bathroom. The perfect base for exploring the local countryside, castles, coast, and the Gower Peninsular. It is possible to hike to Carreg Cennan and the black mountains from here. If you Paraglide I can give some knowledge of the local sites etc.
Our house is situated in the countryside. It's peaceful but not remote. The rooms are in an annex attached to our house but has it's own entrance. Late or early comings and goings will not disturb anyone. The bedroom room has a double bed which fills most of the room. The en-suite private bathroom has a shower, a WC and a sink. There is a patio area you are welcome to use. No cooking facilities. We live in the main house so are around to answer questions and give advice etc. Feel free to ask. Plenty of safe parking and space for bikes, jetskis, etc to be left. This listing is ideally suited for people JUST looking for a place to sleep. See our other listings if you prefer bed and breakfast, use of the lounge, and more interactive type stays.
We are in the countryside but not remote. We are ideally situated for trips to the black mountains, The Gower. Pembrey country park. Lots of Castles near by. The beautiful market town of Llandeilo with it's independent shops and places to eat is close by. We are within 30 minutes of Swansea and Carmarthen. 60 minutes to Cardiff Bay / Centre. Motor transport is highly recommended. There is a bus route from the bottom of our lane. 1km. We can collect and drop off guests at Llandybie station (5 minutes) by arrangement.

  • Paul and Jacki are very welcoming and friendly hosts. My stay with them was delightful. The house is very spacious and well situated, especially for sitting in their gardens which always catch the sunshine. The room is as described, clean and comfortable with a spacious en-suite. I'd highly recommend staying with them.

    Sebastian2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Paul & Jacki were very responsive and accommodating in having us at the last minute. The room is exactly as described and beautifully decorated with Jacki's artwork and sculpture. We were comfortable and would stay again.

  • Thank you so much to paul and jacki, they made us feel very welcome as soon as we got there, cup of coffee and a welcoming chat. We really appreciated them being able to fit us in at the last minute too :-) The room was lovely, cosy and comfortable, nice bathroom too. Would definitely recommend staying here. There are larger rooms available if you feel you need more space, but this room was perfect for us. Thank you very much for having us on our first airbnb outing :-D xx

  • The place is wondeful! In the middle of the nature with a stunning view! The accommodation was lovely, comfortable and clean. Paul & Jacky are careful hosts. The place is very close to llandeilo (5 min by car), in the edge of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park.

A relaxing and peaceful stay welcomes you in this friendly and Arty house. Chill out or have a private art lesson in Painting or Clay.
She is a painter, and a sculptor in clay, (URL HIDDEN) We have another double bedroom but additional charges for the extra room will apply.

  • Paul and Jacki were great hosts! Considering my parents and I were driving through the countryside looking for accommodation on a sunny weekend, we were fortunate enough to have them accept us at the last minute and quite late! Aside from coming the opposite way to their directions, once this was rectified it was all a wonderful experience. The house features a lot of Jacki's wonderful work which drops bold colour into every room. The view in the morning over the countryside is stunning!! And to top it off an extremely interesting couple with great conversation. I'd recommend the stay here to anyone - though possibly give them more time than I did :o)

  • Thank you for your warm welcom and the delicious cooked breakfast. We came to the casle you adviced that day. The casle ruin looked so good in the rain. We enjoyed the view on the hill. The cave in the casle is so interesting. Thank you so much.

  • It was great getting to know Paul and Jackie. A really friendly and hospitable couple who took us in even though it was a last minute booking and we couldn't give an estimated time of arrival. Their dog, Minnie was very genial and welcoming too. The breakfast was great. The rooms are even more beautiful than shown in the pictures. The bathroom was spacious. But the highlight for my family and I was the breathtaking view from both rooms. If you would like to wake up to a beautiful scenery of the countryside, this is the place for you.

  • Super stay. Stunning house enjoying a great view of the valley and a great spot being conveniently located at the beginning of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National park and within walking (if you enjoy walking) from the beautiful Carreg Cennen Castel. Paul and Jacki are a lovely couple and great host. They gave us everything we needed, but most importantly a warm welcome to their place. It was great to know you were coming back to a cosy place after a great day out exploring Wales. Their pets (dog & horses) added to the experience. Thank you guys! Hope we'll be able to come back in summer! Definitely recommended!!
