My place is close to family-friendly activities, public transport. You’ll love my place because of the cosiness, the views, the Solway Firth, Lake District, Galloway, Dumfries and Scotland, Wordsworth and Robbie Burns tradition, fishing, bird life, environmental heritage. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
As a motor sailer, it has good overnight facilities but should be viewed as comfortable camping. Great fun for kids and adults. It has four berths- a double and two singles. It has a heads(toilet) but you are expected to use the marina facilities.
Cooking facilities are good but compact.
We had a wonderful time with James and his wife Catherine. Although we ended up not being able to stay at Java Dog as there was a severe storm, James invited us to stay over with his family and welcomed us as if we were part of their family, surprising us with a wonderful view over the Scottish coast and with a tasty a wholesome breakfast that kept us going for the rest of the day. Although sadly we didn't manage to stay at the boat (our own choice) it was very clean and well stocked with delicious looking biscuits, coffee and tea, and comfortable looking beds. I shall return when the weather is less turbulent so that next time I can stay on the boat and maybe learn to sail! Hopefully, James and Catherine will start hosting new guests in their home. I am certain anyone who stays with them will have an equally lovely and warm experience as I did.
We had a great time at James' place. As the night was a bit cold, he offered to take us to his home, which as we found, was a wonderful place, overlooking the Scottish coast. He was a great host, made sure we were comfortable and gave us directions and tips for our trip as well. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone going to Maryport.
