Lugares para alojarse en Groton

Lugares para alojarse en Groton
This log cabin is set in the woods in a rural part of northeastern Vermont. Escape the hustle and bustle, clear your mind, and enjoy nature. A great place to get some fresh air or to stay in and take a nap. Beautiful summers for easy hikes and refreshing swims in the lakes of our local Groton State Forest, unbelievable foliage to view from small dirt roads, and tons of outdoor winter activities. Great for a couples getaway, friends weekend, or some quality time with the kids. Pets welcome, too!
First off, we (your hosts) like to try to give potential guests an idea of the region of Vermont in which we are located. It's important to emphasize how rural this region is - it's different from other parts of Vermont. We are located in the northeastern part of the state. We are on the opposite side of the state from Burlington and Lake Champlain, and we are east of all of the Central Vermont Ski areas. This area does not have a lot of tourism (relative to the other parts of the state) and in turn has a much smaller, more humble economy than the busier parts of the state. We have a lot of old farmland and meandering dirt roads. The town of Groton, where we are located, has a general store (about a 3 minute drive away from the cabin) and is home to Groton State Forest (about a 10 minute drive from the cabin). But besides that, most everything else (restaurants, bars, shops, ski resorts) is at least a 30-45 minute drive. We don't have a lot of the amenities or well-established outdoor adventure venues that the larger towns like Stowe, VT, Woodstock, VT, or Burlington, VT can offer. Our little of slice of Vermont is truly a place to get away from the more modern world and slow down. I think the best things to do in our immediate area and at the cabin are: star-gazing, napping in the hammock, sitting by the fire pit and roasting marshmallows, snow-shoeing through the backwoods around the cabin, and taking a kayak out on one of the very peaceful lakes in Groton State Forest. With that said, if you are willing to take a drive there are tons of things to do (and remember this is easy driving! very few stop lights and NEVER any traffic). We are right in between the Green Mountains and the White Mountains (about an hour from White Mountain State Park and an hour from Camel's Hump, Mt. Mansfield etc). We are 1 hour and 30 minutes from Burlington and Lake Champlain. A right turn out of the driveway and there are miles and miles of beautiful back roads that glow with reds, oranges and yellows during fall foliage. On a typical drive you will see old farm houses, country general stores with local goods, apples, syrup, and more. There are amazing breweries in all directions, some hidden in the coolest and smallest nooks of our beautiful Vermont hills. In the winter, you will be 45 minutes from the smaller ski mountains Burke Mountain and Bolton Valley, and 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes from bigger ski resorts in all directions (Stowe, Sugarbush, Jay Peak, Loon Mountain, Bretton Woods, Sunapee, and more!). If back woods cross country skiing or snowshoeing is more your speed, there are picturesque old farm fields and backwoods trails within a 20 to 30 minute drive. If your not sure which direction to head in but know you are looking for an outdoor adventure, we will always be more than happy to offer advice, suggestions, and directions to personalize your experience and get you off the beaten path. As for the log cabin itself: it is located on a dirt road in the woods on the outskirts of Groton. Your hosts live in the house about a one or two minute walk up the hill from the log cabin. The two houses are separated by woods, so besides the shared driveway that passes in front of the cabin, the cabin has complete privacy. This is a modern cabin in almost every way. It has electricity, great insulation, central heat (in addition to an effective wood stove), microwave, full gas stove and oven, refrigerator, microwave, a full bathroom, a washer and dryer, a land-line telephone, and wifi. But we want to stress that this is a place to disconnect. Literally. You might get one bar of cell phone service. The cabin does not have TV or computers. Remember, if all you need is a place to rest and relax - this is your place. It's a great place to do nothing at all. You won't hear a thing at night and only a logging truck or two during the day. You can go outside on clear nights and see a sky full of stars. It's a great place to write, do yoga, nap, cuddle, sit around for hours and talk with your loved ones, or just be :)
You are in the middle of the woods. The road that the property is located on is a dirt road that is great for walks at all times of the year, night or day. There are houses every half a mile or so interspersed with woods and old farm land.

Altamente recomendado.

UPDATE 8/5: SlTE CLOSED UNTIL BUILDING FINISHED. WILL OPEN CALENDAR BACK UP WHEN FINISHED. THE STRUCTURE- Unavailable for construction for new Airbnb. We are starting this transition in June. You'll love staying on our property because you'll have full access to the 7 acres. We live the next town over. Less then 10 minutes away. Complete privacy from any neighbor. Our property has the VAST trail directly attached. During the Summer/Spring/Fall seasons you can walk to the trail.
The area is in the country but a located close to small towns for needs. Cabot is 5 minutes away, Danville is 10 away and Hardwick is 15 minutes away. You can't see the neighbors. But if loud enough they may here you or vice versa. We had many family get togethers when my dad lived across the street with fire works for 4th of July with no complaints. I want guest to have fun but please no fights or yelling. Should the neighbors complain we may not be able to continue the camping fun.

A comfortable and sparkling clean 2nd story loft in a secluded setting (important to bring groceries for your first couple of meals), surrounded by 26,000+ acre Groton State Forest, offering privacy, peace, and quiet following your days of foliage viewing, hiking, biking, kayaking, snowshoeing, x-county skiing, exploring (byo bikes/kayaks/skis/snowshoes). Walk out your door onto forest traiIs. Star-gaze at a sky with little to no light pollution!

We have trails marked with ribbons from your door through the woods on our property and directly connecting to a developed trail in the State Forest. There is very easy access to other hiking trails in the Groton State Forest; a miles-long flat recreation trail is just a few hundred feet away; nearby Boulder Beach at Groton Pond offers day use (There is a car-top boat launch and canoes, kayaks and pedal boats are available to rent) beginning Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend; and unparalleled "leaf peeping" from roughly mid-September to mid-October. The route to Lincoln NH (1 hour) includes Route 112 into the White Mountains and offers spectacular foliage viewing. The town of Groton (5-7 minutes away) offers a post office; library with wifi; a gas station/convenience store with a breakfast/lunch counter, pizza to order, and basic groceries; and a meadery (honey wine) that seasonally offers homemade icecream. 30 minutes to Cabot Creamery gift shop; 45 minutes to craft breweries and to Montpelier (the State capitol), which offers a wide range of excellent restaurants; 50 minutes to Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory, and shopping at Stowe, VT; 1-1/4 hours from Burlington; and a short hour from Franconia, NH. We also have an excellent massage therapist contact, if that holds interest for you.

Our house in rural Plainfield is a quiet place to enjoy Vermont's country roads, fields, mountains and night skies. Spring will bring blooming lilacs and fresh garden lettuce. Summer in Vermont is glorious, with blue skies, verdant fields, and full gardens. In fall, the maples turn red, orange, and gold. We serve guests a hearty breakfast. We welcome people of all races/nationalities. We strive to accommodate people with disabilities. We love to host families with babies and young children.
We have a light airy house in postcard-beautiful Plainfield, VT. Plainfield is a rural town in central Vermont within easy driving distance of skiing, hiking, swimming. A great location for seeing fall color on Vermont's back roads. Close to Montpelier, the state capital. Equidistant between Boston and Montreal (3 hours each). You can walk (or run) for hours on the quiet dirt roads in the vicinity. Room has a double bed with a new mattress, and is in a separate section of the house, that includes a roomy living room and a futon that folds out into a second double bed. Space has a separate thermostat you can adjust. Private bathroom includes a new tiled shower. At present we have a crib in the room, and the space is baby-friendly. We enjoy children and well-behaved pets. We do not permit pets to be left here alone. You may use our refrigerator. We enjoy serving you breakfast adapted to your tastes.
Our house is on a dirt road out in the country, a five minute drive to Plainfield village, 10 minutes to Barre, and 20 minutes to Montpelier, the state capital.

  • Disfrutamos nuestra visita a Gail y Strat.

Our summer camp has been in the family for two generations. It has everything you need including piece and quiet in Vermont We have always loved the proximity to the lake, 12 feet from the porch.
This summer camp has been in the family for two generations. It is rustic in a Vermont way, but very easy to relax in. We have kept many of the antiques of multiple generations. We have always loved the proximity to the lake, 12 feet from the porch. We have sat on the sun porch and watched loons and on rarely a moose wonder right in front. The property comes with a canoe, but there is a dock where you could bring in your own small sailboat/jet ski/motor boat. The lake is often calm and a great place to water ski from. The water is clear and clean and swimming is so refreshing. The local state park has naturalist lead walks and there are many areas to hike. A short family hike for almost anyone is Owl's Head, a charming short hike to the top of an overlook of the lake. Biking is a great way to get around and nearby we connect to Vt. Bike path on the old railroad tracks! The camp is adjacent to the 25,000 acre Groton State Forest, located less than an hour drive from Montpelier, VT and White River Junction offers an array of natural features and recreation areas for park visitors to enjoy. With seven state parks, an extensive trail network, boulder studded sandy beaches, large glacial lakes, secluded ponds, dramatic cliffs and one of the largest bogs in Vermont nestled within it's boundaries, it is no surprise that Groton State Forest is a popular year-round outdoor recreation and camping destination. Miles of logging roads, snowmobile trails and gravel forest roads traverse and wind through Groton State Forest offering easy to moderate mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding opportunities. Cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and snowmobiling are popular winter activities on the trail system as conditions allow. The paths travel in and out of the woods, past several lakes and ponds providing access to most of the interesting Groton State Forest features including Owlshead Mountain, Lake Groton, Kettle Pond, Peacham Bog and several historical sites. Off trail activities include picnicking, swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. (see our Bikes & Beaches feature article for more detail). Tent and RV camping is available at the Ricker Pond, Stillwater, Big Deer and New Discover State Park campgrounds. There is even a bed & breakfast Lodge on Noyes Pond at Seyton Ranch State Park for those who prefer not to rough it. The Groton Nature Center, located on the shore of Lake Groton, offers a variety of Ranger led programs. Other park facilities include: hot showers, boat launches, playgrounds, picnic and recreation shelters, concession stands and more. The forest is primarily a second growth forest (see Historical Notes below) comprised mostly of northern hardwoods, the most common being maple, birch and beech. Spruce and fir can be found both in the lower and wetter areas along the streams and at the higher elevations. Wildlife is abundant and includes black bear, moose, mink, beaver, otter, fisher, loons and herons. Groton State Forest Mountain Bike Trails Mountain biking is available on almost all of the Groton State Forest roads (20 miles) which are basically gravel-surfaced roads marked with orange reflectorized diamonds, and other multi-use trails and roads specifically designated for mountain bike use. The multi-use trails are generally blazed with yellow paint. There are also over 17 miles of hiking only trails which are blazed with blue paint. (Trail bikes and all-terrain vehicles are prohibited anywhere on Vermont State land). See our list below for suggested mountain bike rides.
We are quite private. Directly on the lake. We are the next to the last camp on a dead end road so there is minimal traffic.

Just 10 miles off the Interstate, but you'll feel like you're way back in the country. Enjoy long view eastward across the Connecticut River Valley to New Hampshire mountains.
Dawnside is a hillside home on a dirt road, tucked into the woods with a view of local hills and distant mountains and plenty of space to unwind. Built over many years, it started out as an 800 sf, off-the-grid home. Today the now 1,700 sf house has electricity and WiFi, and can easily accommodate four or five, although it's cozy for one or two as well. There's a queen bed in the large (16x20) cathedral-ceilinged master bedroom, a full bed in one small (10x10) bedroom, and a twin bed in another small (10x10) bedroom. With its central location between the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire, you can use Dawnside as a base camp for day trips to go hiking, kayaking, fishing, and exploring the area. Or stay right here and take a walk on the property's woods roads and listen to the wind in the trees. Relax on the deck and watch the sunrise with your tea or coffee, or enjoy your favorite evening drink as you watch the colors shift and change on the mountains and valleys as the sun sets behind you. Lie on your back at night and enjoy the bright stars - there's virtually no light pollution up here on the hill. Light a campfire, toast marshmallows, make s'mores, and watch the fireflies. Rainy day? Curl up with a book in the cozy library nook. The TV, along with a selection of DVD's, is temporarily located in the nook as the living room is being renovate d. There's no cable service but there is WiFi so you can hook up a laptop or Fire Stick and stream video. The kitchen is small but well equipped: refrigerator with ice maker, 5-burner electric range, microwave, dishwasher, and large single-bowl sink. Small appliances include coffee maker, coffee grinder, electric kettle, blender, hand mixer, and 4-slice toaster, and there's a French press as well. There are plenty of plates, silverware, glasses, pots, pans, utensils, and cookbooks. Plastic children's plates, bowls, cups, and silverware are also provided. A selection of coffees, teas, condiments, and spices are provided. A gas grill is located on the back deck for outdoor cooking. There is a full bathroom with tub/shower upstairs. A small 3/4 bathroom (shower, toilet, sink), with a 30" door, is off the laundry room. The laundry room has a front loading washer and dryer and fragrance-free laundry detergent is provided. A 50 gallon water heater provides plenty of hot water. Cell service is spotty at best and seems to change with the wind, weather, and number of birds flying overhead. Verizon works better than other carriers, although you may need to stand in the parking area to catch a signal. There is a landline for your use.
The house is located 1.25 miles (2.0 km) "off the blacktop," halfway up a 1/2 mile (0.8 km) long, quiet dead-end road. There are neighbors but they can't be seen from the house. Sometimes it is so quiet here that you can hear kids playing on the next ridge over... 1/4 mile (0.4 km) away. Quiet country back roads are great for walking, running, and bicycling on. The last 1/4 mile on your way back is a bit steep. Northeast Slopes, where you can ski "the way it used to be," is less than 10 minutes away. It's totally volunteer-run, nature-dependent for snow, and features up to 12 trails, 360' of vertical height, 2 rope tows, and a T-bar - all for a $15 day pass. There's no night skiing but there is reasonably priced food at the snack bar. You can snowboard, too. Bring your own skis and/or boards. If you're going to use the tows bring leather work gloves (or buy them at the snack bar). Burke Mountain and the Dartmouth Skiway are about an hour away. There are two general stores within 10 minutes. The Roots School, which teaches traditional skills, is just 6 miles/12 minutes away. The Mountain School in Vershire is 13 miles/25 minutes. The town of Bradford, with several restaurants, a Kinney Drugs pharmacy, a large Hannaford's supermarket, the awesome Farmway feed/clothing/shoes & boots/furniture store, the Red Kite Candy kitchen and store, and the Bear Ridge dirt race track, is 20 minutes away. The city of Barre ("Bear-ee"), home to famous granite quarries you can visit, is half an hour out. Vermont's capital, Montpelier, is 45 minutes away, as is the up-and-coming White River Jct, Vermont and the home of Dartmouth College: Hanover, New Hampshire. Waterbury, VT, home of Ben & Jerry's, is an hour away and Burlington, VT is an hour and 15 minute drive. A drive-in movie theater is about twenty minutes away. Camp chairs and outdoor blankets are provided so you can grab them and go watch a movie under the stars. In mid-September the Tunbridge World's Fair is just 35 minutes away. Several area artisans participate in May and October Open Studio Weekends and invite you to meet them and see their work. White Mountains attractions, including Lost River Gorge and Polar Caves, are about an hour away. The house is located midway between the Appalachian Trail and Vermont's Long Trail with access to each taking an hour or less, and there are several hiking trails in the area including the 3.5 mile Wright's Mountain Trail just 15 minutes away. Fishing, boating, and swimming are available at many places within a half hour or so radius and Vermont Fish & Game offers free boat launch access at many locations (Note: some lakes and ponds do not allow motorboats). Sporting licenses are available at the East Corinth General Store or online.

This spacious, well-stocked, immaculate RV with large picture windows provides grand views of the impressive Connecticut River and local mountains. The RV is situated on a scenic, private waterfront property that provides easy access to launch our canoes and kayaks into the river. The guests gain access to the property through a quiet neighborhood, past a farm with an old barn, and down a private right of way.
The property is yours to explore and use freely, as though it were your own. We provide lawn games such as badminton, lawn bocce, bean bag toss, croquet, plenty of indoor games, DVD's w/ player, puzzles, books, etc. There are kayaks and canoes for you to borrow, free of charge, down by the river's edge (just please don't forget to put your life jackets on before heading out). You can explore the river up and downstream between the two dams, and you can explore the islands as well. The adventurous can pull their canoes out of the river and walk around the dam to continue on their journey upstream. Fishing is a great activity out on the river with an abundance of fresh water fish for the catching! You'll enjoy cooking up some juicy steaks on the gas grill while sitting out at your picnic table while taking in the breathtaking views of the river. In the evening, you can kick back and have smores while sharing stories around the campfire. Before you retire for the night, be impressed by the awesome northern night sky with such vibrant, bright stars and constellations like you've never seen before!
This location is very rural with chicken and dairy farms scattered across the landscape. The neighborhood that our guests pass through has a dozen or so private properties. The backdrop to the neighborhood is Hunt Mountain where guests can hike and enjoy the beauty of a brook running down off the mountain. The town of Monroe is located halfway between Woodsville, NH and Littleton, NH, both towns with plenty of shopping and services for our guest's convenience.

Looking for the quintessential Vermont experience? Find it here in this 1875 farmhouse in the heart of Maple Corner, an artsy community 15 min north of Montpelier. The farmhouse is clean, peaceful, and close to outdoor adventures as well as great live music. You're free to relax in the spacious room with a cozy bed & large back porch (plus enjoy full access to the house's common areas), explore Curtis Pond, or experience live music at the Whammy Bar (live music, great food, local brews).
Maple Corner is an iconic part of Vermont with a vibrant community of artists, musicians, farmers, and outdoor enthusiasts. My house is right across the street from the Maple Corner Community Center, which offers yoga classes on Mondays and Wednesdays as well as a number of other events you can attend. You can find the calendar online. The Maple Corner Store is a true gem. The house is just 100 feet from the store. There's a great bar and live music venue in the back of the store called the Whammy Bar. If you're here on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night, be sure to stop by the bar to hear live music. The community also has an extensive trail network - great for running, biking, and skiing. If you're interested in using these trails, they're public and I can help you find the trailheads. My favorite places in the neighborhood are: Curtis Pond, the Whammy Bar, Kent Corners, and Old West Church.

Acogedor, encantador, acogedor y ordenado. ¡Definitivamente recomiendo a Amy y Randall!

Absolutamente hermosa parte de New Hampshire.

A quiet location in the country, we’re located 25 minutes from Hanover NH, Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, as well as Vermont Law School and many summer camps such as the Aloha Camps, Camps Farnsworth, Billings and Lochearn. Located right around the corner is the Pema Osel Do-ngak Choling Buddhist retreat. There are two local hiking trails: The Cross-Rivendell and Appalachian Trails; two large lakes: Lake Fairlee and Lake Morey.
This house was the original one-room schoolhouse converted into a residence.
This neighborhood is very rural. One would want to appreciate being away from it all.

We are located in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom on a quiet, scenic country road 2 miles to the St. Johnsbury Academy. In close proximity to LVRT rail trail for walking, running & biking. 1 hr to Green & White Mtns for skiing and hiking. An hour from Canada with easy access to I-91/I-93. Centrally located near Fairbanks Museum, St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, Dog Mountain, Kingdom Trails, Catamount Arts, Maple Grove Farms, Northern Vermont University, Karmê Chöling, Joe’s Pond, Jay Peak, Cannon Mountain.
Private 2 bedrooms, bathroom, semi-private living room and eating area in the lower level/ walkout basement of our home with a semi-private entrance. Nice view of Burke Mountain. The suite is located on the lower level of our home which we occupy year round. There is a semi-private entrance from the rear of the house. We will have limited K-cups, water, tea and a small assortment of breakfast snacks available to get your day started. There is an apartment size fridge available for your use. Larger of the two bedrooms includes a full size bed and internet TV. Smaller of the two bedrooms comes with the two twin beds. Living area with internet TV. Access to back yard during warmer months with a small fire pit. The suite is handicap accessible. Hosts are generally on site and available if needed. Or just a phone call away. PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: The suite is located at the lower level of our home/walk out basement. Noise carries easily between floors. We have two young children who are in bed between the hours of 9 PM and 6–7 AM. We do try our best to keep the noise level down in the early morning hours but you will likely hear us, especially if you are a light sleeper (and sleep past 6 or 7am) so we recommend and provide earplugs if needed. Late check-ins are welcome, however if you are arriving after 9 PM we will likely send you the self check-in instructions. We often go to bed early. Also, the furnace is located in the lower level of the home. The purpose of the furnace is to provide heat and it maintains hot water for the house; therefore the furnace runs periodically throughout the day and night. We also run wood stove in the winter and therefore called living space semi-private, as we may need occasionally access it to restock with wood during the cold winter months. There are two bedrooms. The first bedroom has a full bed. The second bedroom has two twin beds. There is a private bathroom with a shower. The space is handicap accessible. The space is ideally set up for 4, but can potentially accommodate more guests. Coffee and tea is provided throughout your stay. WiFi is available and included during your stay. However occasionally it is not as strong and can be spotty. Also please note that cable is not available so TVs are streaming only and have access to Netflix and Amazon Prime. In addition, there is a small library of DVDs. Dogs: Dog are allowed for an additional $30 cleaning fee per dog, per stay (less than 7 days, $30 per week thereafter). Dogs MUST meet all of the following requirements and rules. 1. Must be house broke, and kennel trained. 2. When left alone, dogs MUST always be in a kennel or crate. 3. Never allowed on any furniture. Some guests may be allergic to pets and we must be able to remove all pet dander and hair from the apartment easily. 4. All poop must be picked up prior to guest departure. Any damage caused by guests or dogs must be paid for by guests. Horses: We have accommodations for you to bring your horses. There are approximately 3 acres of open fields around the house. Run in area, horse coral and several fields for grazing. There are an abundance of back roads around the house that can be used for riding. Nearby private wooded riding trail we use with the neighbor’s permission and available for our guest’s use. We are also in a close proximity to LVRT trails. You are responsible for feeding and cleaning up after your horse. The charge is $25 per horse per night. We do NOT offer a stable. Other things to note We have a cat named Mishka on the property. Will generally do the best we can to keep her away from guests. But occasionally she may come around to visit. She may seem very friendly, but known to misbehave when petted, we advise leaving Mishka alone. There is a chatty African Grey parrot on the same floor. If for any reason you don’t feel comfortable having him around on the same floor or are travelling with little kids, we will relocate him to the 2nd floor. Although he is pretty friendly and enjoys being petted, he may occasionally bite. So, we recommend guests to not try touching him and not put fingers in the cage.

It's the perfect place to relax and have a staycation! Or a real vacation it's the perfect spot for snow bums, summer lovers or people who just want to experience Vermont!
This space was built by us and the help of each of our families! It is on 30 acres that we also live on. Here on the property we have bees, chickens, a small pond & brook plus more wildlife than you can imagine. It is so joyful to sit and listen to the song birds or watch the deer graze. It is a place of joy and laughter and we would love to bring others to enjoy what we get to enjoy everyday.
We love how close we are to down town but still out in the woods. We love being on a dirt road but still only one mile from pavement!

Allenwood Farm is nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains in Central VT. We're a 15min drive from Montpelier and a quick walk to Goddard. A solar array provides renewable energy year round. We rent our farmhouse out to guests, and live right next door. You have full access to a beautiful kitchen, living room, library, infrared sauna, 2 bathrooms, and 2 porches - all refinished! We've got places to hike as well! Each of the 3 bedrooms are rented individually, or the house as a whole.
You're welcome to wander the property, pet the animals, and make yourself at home! There is an infrared sauna on site as well.
Montpelier (the capital city) is a quick 15 minute drive where you can have a cup of local coffee at Capitol Grounds, wicked yummy Thai (between 11-2) at Wilaiwan's Kitchen, a local brew at Three Penny Taproom, and the largest salad you've ever eaten at J Morgans. Treat yourself to an Indie flick at the Savoy Theater, and a Maple Creemee at Morse Farm! The nearby Ski Resorts include Bolton (37 min), Stowe (50 min), Sugarbush (55 min) , Burke Mountain (1 hour), Jay Peak (1.25 hours), and Killington (1.5 hours). Sugarbush was my home mountain growing up, so I’m a little biased! Bolton is the least expensive mountain but it’s also the smallest. Jay Peak usually gets the most snow. Stowe and Killington are the most popular. Take a hike up to Goddard College, or swing through Groton State Forest for swimming, horse trails, kayaking, and hiking. Route 2 is a beautiful corridor that can take you into the Northeast Kingdom as well!

Finding, and getting into, this AirBNB room is EASY, QUICK AND SEAMLESS! (I promise! :-)
My home is on a very quiet road and your bedroom has a nice view of the river and quaint Montpelier. Please note, however, that the view includes an overlook of a busier route. Neither I, nor the overwhelming majority of my guests, are bothered by the white noise of Berlin street, however about 2% of them have commented on it. As such, I want to share it with you in advance. :-)

Come escape from the daily grind at our idyllic lakeside glamping cabin. A charming oasis in the heart of the Green Mountains, this cabin offers comfort and convenience in an off-the-grid setting. Perfect for a quiet weekend getaway, writer's retreat, meditation escape, or just a chance to unwind , take a swim or go for a paddle.
Our comfortable cabin sits on a terraced hillside overlooking beautiful Greenwood Lake and the Woodbury Mountains. It has a ceiling fan and heater to keep you comfy along with a microwave, toaster, coffeemaker. However, there is no WiFi and cell service is sketchy which makes it a great spot for digital detox. We can provide you with a TV with DVD player if you wish. The spotless outhouse sports a state of the art incinerating toilet, a heater, a wash up sink with a drain, and a reading light. On the manicured grounds you'll find the upper patio with treetop views and a firepit. Next to the cabin is a picnic patio area with tables, chairs, and a park grill. Walk down the shaded path to our dock and kayak launch to take a swim or just relax, enjoy the view and look for loons. Bring your own paddle craft or rent a kayak for a small fee. Sorry, no motor craft permitted. While it does have many comforts and conveniences, be aware that this is still a glamping venue and there is no running water. We do supply water for drinking, washing, and even provide a solar shower.
In addition to enjoying peaceful Greenwood Lake, you are just a short drive from local attractions, such as Highland Center for The Arts, Jasper Hill Cheese Cellars, the charming capital city of Montpelier, Ben & Jerry's, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Stowe, Jay Peak, and Craftsbury Outdoor Center and local rail trails to name a few. The town of Hardwick, 4 miles away, boasts popular restaurants featuring locally grown fare.

¡Gracias!

Unplug and get back in touch with nature in this beautiful off grid cabin. Surrounded by a working farm, you will be able to see our herd of beef cattle and sheep, as well as some free range hens and ducks. Hike or xc ski (in winter) through the woods to your private retreat. Take peek inside one of Vermont's oldest barns. Walk through the woods and check out our sugar house. Or just enjoy the breathtaking views of New Hampshire's white mountains while relaxing on the front porch.
This is an off grid cabin. There is no indoor plumbing. There is an outhouse for use. The cabin has one main room downstairs, a loft, and a small room upstairs off the loft. In the summer there IS running water in the cabin for washing dishes but NOT for drinking. Drinking water will be provided, but you can also bring your own. --For winter--The cabin has a woodstove for heat but is not very insulated. I did have a friend who stayed there when it was 30 below and she got it up to 60 degrees with the stove running all day and night.-- There is an outdoor gravity fed shower that works in the summer for your use. There are no outlets in the cabin but some cell phone service does work. There is one solar powered overhead light and we also have a solar powered charger for your devices. There are plenty of lanterns and candles. If you'd like to bring ice there is a small cooler in the kitchen area. You need to hike up to the cabin. It's about one half mile, easy, but there are uphill sections. There is a propane stove inside for cooking and a charcoal grill outside as well. There are two full bed futons. We are close to Groton State Forest which has numerous hiking trails and state parks as well as beaches and places to kayak. There is close access to the VT VAST trail system for snowmobiling in the winter (registration and VAST membership required). We are about 1.5 hrs from Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. 1.5 hrs from Burlington, VT. 1 hr to Stowe. 45 minutes to Cabot. 50 minutes to King Arthur Flour in Norwich. There are many things to do and just driving in the area is very scenic. The fall foliage is absolutely breathtaking. The trail to the cabin connects to a dirt road. It's a nice 3 mile loop if you'd like to take a walk around our quiet rural neighborhood. Enjoy the sounds of nature, mountain views, and starry night skies. Walk the property, relax, and recharge with a one of a kind camping experience!
We live on a dirt road. Please be aware that 4 wheel drive/ all wheel drive is usually needed during mud season and the winter months.
