Alquileres vacacionales en Knighton

Reservadas recientemente en Knighton

Located on the edge of the picturesque market town of Knighton. Enjoying a tranquil setting with the Offas Dyke path only 5 minutes walk away and shops close to hand. A beautiful and peaceful spot to come and relax in.
'Hedgehog Hideaway' is a beautifully refurbished annex adjoining our house. It has its own private entrance and courtyard to give guests their own space and privacy. It is fully equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. We provide a substantial breakfast basket to have on your first morning. Tea, coffee and milk are also provided to make you feel at home. The courtyard is a lovely sunny space to have an alfresco breakfast or just a place to unwind in and listen to the birds.
We are extremely lucky to have the best of both worlds here. We are only 5 minutes walk away from the Offas' Dyke path and other well established walks but we also benefit from having the local amenities within walking distance. We have a number of excellent eating establishments in the area from traditional pubs to Mitchellin starred restaurants. The Stagg Inn at Titley and The Lion at Leintwardine are both a short drive away and well known for good food. If you want somewhere unusual The Sun Inn, also in Leintwardine, is one of the last few parlour pubs left in Britain. Well worth a visit. Our favourite is The Horse and Jockey pub which is 2 minutes walk away. We love going there in the winter to sit in the cosy snug next to a roaring fire. The Red Lion is a great new restaurant we have in Knighton with top quality local food and friendly management. There are several popular tearooms and country gardens to visit. Knighton has an excellent gallery cafe where I highly recommend the homemade barabrith! Golfing, horse riding and fishing are amongst many numerous outdoor activities enjoyed in the area. If you like star gazing the famous 'Space Centre' is a 5 minute drive away where you can book guided tours around the planetarium and use their giant telescopes.
  • Phil welcomed us warmly when we arrived. He showed us around, answered our questions, and left us to relax on our own. The place was clean and well stocked, with a place to leave our muddy boots after our long walk. The windows looked out onto the peaceful private garden, where we sat with our tea. The location was very close to shops and pubs, but delightfully quiet.

  • Phil and Emily were great communicating before and during our stay. We arrived a little late and so they left a key for us but it was easy to find and although attached to the house was very private and quiet. We work in a busy city and wanted a weekend away in the quiet and somewhere to walk in the countryside and this location provided just that. Short distance from local town and everything provided at venue from slippers to pillow mints! Just what we needed.

  • Absolutely beautiful cottage with everything we needed.

  • The Hideaway is peaceful and a really lovely accommodation to spend your holiday.. lovely quaint decor and very well equipped..

  • Phil and Emily are the perfect hosts! They were utterly friendly and welcoming, very helpful with advice or help when needed but left us to our own devices otherwise. The road was lovely and quiet (except for seemingly continuous birdsong!) and starry at night. Very close walk to lovely countryside on the doorstep. All descriptions and pictures accurate - the only thing not clear from the pictures is how private Hedgehog Hideaway and its own little courtyard feel. Very nicely tucked away with its own entrance. Many thanks for a lovely stay! Pete and Alice

  • Perfect! This really is a secret hideaway. Quiet and tucked away, yet walkable to the shops and restaurants in Knighton. Emily and Phil have designed the perfect set-up - a private little studio with kitchen and all facilities, plus the makings of a lovely breakfast. Little design features (daisy hooks, china crockery) made it feel homely and special.

  • Very welcoming and friendly reception. This property provides a private self contained stay. It is great to have your own kitchen area and bathroom which means it is ideal for a few days. It is very homely and has lovely decoration and useful information. The town is great as it has a choice of coffee shops and pubs and a range of necessities as well as luxuries such as a curry house.

  • We had a really charming stay at the Hedgehog Hideaway and would recommend it without hesitation. The annexe itself is well-stocked, clean, and decorated with character. The kitchen had an oven, hob, toaster, microwave, etc. - more than we needed. The croissants, cereal, milk, butter and ham were unexpected but very much appreciated. The location is a real gem - close to transport links, long walks and local attractions. The Offa's Dyke centre in Knighton is a free and well thought out introduction to the long trail that is minutes away from the annexe. Not too far outside of Knighton, we enjoyed a fascinating day at Stokesay Castle (English Heritage) which boasted good views of the Welsh hills and some unspoiled rooms that may predate mediaeval times. In Hereford (just under an hour's car journey away) the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library exhibition in the cathedral was very much worthwhile. While Phil and Emily were not intrusive at all, we found them very welcoming and they certainly went out of their way to help us make the most out of our stay. So, all in all we couldn't have wished for better accommodation, location or hosts and wish Phil and Emily all the best.

This two bedroom cottage is near The Offa's Dyke Path. A short walk from the railway station, independent pubs, shops, and restaurants, you'll fall in love with this Listed property with it's charm, history, and character. The well equipped kitchen is perfect for preparing meals for cosy nights in front of the snug wood burner, and the bathroom offering a jet bath to ease tired legs after a days exploring. My place is perfect for couples, families, and four-legged friends.
With it's period wooden beams and quirky features, this cosy cottage in the heart of Knighton is not to be missed. With Wi-fi ( not available in Dec and Jan), Free Stat TV, and an array of DVD's for cosy nights in.
Knighton, on the border of Wales, is a quaint town with it's fair share of pubs, cafes and restaurants. For history lovers there is a 'Town Trail' which guides you around the buildings of particular interest to ensure you don't miss out. The cottage is situated next to the Knighton Agricultural Market which takes place once or twice a week (usually a Thursday and/or Friday), this has been a tradition for many years and is a real hive of activity!
  • This is a really cute cottage that provides everything you need for a few days in the Shropshire Hills. Comfy beds, toasty woodfire and lots of extra little touches to make us feel at home, even a welcome pack for our dog. It's a great location for the Offa's Dyke Path and the local pubs are just around the corner. We'll definitely be back!

  • Although we did not meet Annette, she kept us informed of our check-in arrangements and provided many welcome treats on entry into her cottage. The cottage is a listed building, and so there are many original features inside such as small doors, beams etc with the furnishings being comfortable and functional. Although there is no parking directly outside, we were able to park our car nearby. The cottage is a 2 minute walk from the high street which has a range of independent shops and cafes. The cottage is furnished to a good standard, with a Jacuzzi bath (good toiletries and towels are included), lovely kitchen area with fridge, microwave, coffee machine, cooking area (all cutlery & crockery, tea towels etc provided), living space has log burning stove, wifi, books, DVDs, very comfortable beds and bedding and blackout blinds. Annette left a variety of welcome treats which included milk, butter, crumpets, local cider, an Easter bunny, Welsh cakes and jam. There were also items such as tomato ketchup, Robinson's squash and condiments in the store cupboard. There is also a private seated area in the little yard. Very cosy, comfortable, spotlessly clean and welcoming little cottage - would definitely recommend.

  • What a lovely cottage! Annette had thought of everything and was a lovely host, even though we didn't meet her. Although it was a very cold weekend, there were plenty of heaters and once the fire was going it was very cosy! Thanks for everything Annette

  • Quirky little cottage right in Knighton town, good food 1 minutes walk at the Jockey pub. Well presented all you need for a short break.

  • Wonderful 1 night stay at this beautiful cottage, perfect size for two adults and our fury friend. Annette's communication was faultless throughout the booking process and day of arrival were never confused or asking any 'what if's' as she had included every last detail. When considering an Airbnb property we will opt for an owner who chooses to leave a key in a security box or similar as we prefer to be left alone to crack on with our stay without the time constraints of meeting the owner and the awkwardness of the owner showing us around for 20 mins and 'where the extra bin liners are kept' etc etc .... when all you really want to do is get inside put the kettle on and get the log burner lit, so this was the perfect place for us. The cottage was spotless, we loved the exposed beams and floorboards which gave the cottage so much character. The bed and pillows were very very comfortable! The bath was just the ticket after a long day. Loads of hot water, enough for a bath and washing up which isn't always the case. We forgot to pack towels but these were provided which was a blessing! Kitchen was fully equipped with everything you needed if you prefer cooking and eating in as we do. OS maps where there to borrow during your stay which was a nice touch. A whole chest of board games, some books and the biggest TV we had had in any holiday cottage with Sky and free Wifi. Thank you Annette for leaving a foodie starter pack which rivalled any we had found in Sykes, Lake Lovers or Wales Cottage Holidays properties. We never assume this will be the case so we had packed everything if you were wondering why the milk was unopened. Thanks once again! Faye and Trevor

  • We had an absolutely lovely stay in Annette's place this weekend. The house itself is gorgeous. In the run up to our stay Annette provided all of the we needed and was very responsive to our queries.

  • Comfortable, cosy place to stay. Well appointed. Beds really comfortable. Lovely to have wood burning stove and plenty of other heaters too. Very quiet, but close to town centre. Large dog crate fitted in easily and good dog exercise area 2 mins walk away. Would stay again. Beautiful area on the borders.

  • Our stay at Wilde Lodge was amazing. The house was beautiful with plenty of room for a party of 8 of us. It is very remote which is ideal for a weekend getaway but important to make sure you have all the supplies needed! Kevin and Jemma were great with replying to any queries we had!

    Lauren2016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin and Jemma were a delight the whole weekend - they put up with eight very drunk people for about three days, and at no point implied how annoying we probably were. We were kindly offered meals, and were even given a lift to a (very well recommended) local pub for Saturday night frivolities. They were stars in reasonably priced cars.

    Richard2015-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house, the photos do not do it justice. We had a wonderful break.

    Katy2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wilde Lodge was perfect for a girls getaway weekend. The house is gorgeous and spacious (the pictures do not do this justice) and we spent out time relaxing, walking and cooking together. Jemma was super helpful and always on call with any queries. We also found the beds incredibly comfortable (and everyone was delighted with the amount of sleep they attained). We would definitely like to plan a returning trip!

    Jessica2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a brilliant place to come away for a weekend with a large group. Came here for my stag and hired the barn with a sound system and projector which really made it. We BBQ'd for every meal, used the lawn for lots of games - generally just an amazing time. Very secluded, we were left to our own devices - and even got a lift to the pub from Kevin to watch the rugby.

    Martin2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we booked, Kevin and Jemma were such welcoming, relaxed and friendly hosts and made sure we knew about all the little extras they could offer to make our stay even more special (without being pushy). They made sure our stay was comfortable and responded quickly to questions. And they really have thought of all the little details - comfy beds, fire pits, blankets, the list goes on... The house and grounds were beautiful and it was a lovely setting for a girls weekend. We didn't need or want to venture too far and made use of the outdoor space a lot. Such a peaceful place. We did have an issue with a fuse tripping power, and lack of mobile phone signal for our networks made it harder to communicate about this, but thankfully with the wifi still working we were able to keep in touch and things were sorted quickly. Thanks so much Kevin and Jemma we had a great time!

    Jenny2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Wilde Lodge as a group of 12 for a hen do. Jemma was easy to contact and quick to respond to messages and full of ideas to make our trip more enjoyable. Check in times we're flexible and Jemma was very laid back when we were all hugely late. The lodge is enormous and to a much higher standard than we anticipated. The photos do not do it justice. Every part of our stay was such high quality, towels, bedding, extra blankets for outside, and even fires lit while we were out. Jemma cooked for us on our second night (not easy for 12!) and set up the barn with fairy lights for us to eat in. It was beautiful and the food was perfect. The local area is stunning! Truly! We went for a local walk that Jemma recommended and the views were beautiful. Even if you don't want to walk there is plenty to do at the lodge. We saw gorgeous views from the house, met the horses that live at the lodge and played games in the garden that were supplied - croquet, boules, cricket, skittles. Everything was really perfect! Even after our checkout Jemma was great in contacting us quickly when we had left some things behind. We will definitely return to Wilde Lodge in the future!!

    Christina2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wilde lodge provided a perfect getaway for the weekend. The house and surroundings are beautiful and it is clear that a lot of thought has gone into the finishing touches. The house and garden were well equipped and there was plenty to keep us all occupied. Jemma's communication was brillliant and she was helpful with any queries we had. We would definitely stay again!

Xidong is a japanese cottage converted from an old stone and timber cowshed. It sleeps two people and has a hot-tub in the enclosed garden.
The cottage is spacious and serene with an oriental flavour. The kitchen is well appointed and there is an amazing and unusual wet room.
The cottage is situated in a very quiet and tranquil area of South Shropshire. The scenery is stunning; there are interesting places to visit from castles to gardens, woods and forts. There are plenty of excellent restaurants being near to the old historical food centre of Britain - Ludlow. You can walk for miles on well signposted footpaths and cycle either on the quiet lanes or mountain biking in the local forestry.
  • Had a great time

  • Becky place was amazing. It was very spacious (massive living area with dining table and TV). The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need. The bathroom is attached to the kitchen and is a all in one wet room. There is a hot tub located at the top of the garden which was a massive bonus. Becky was there if we needed her but she give us our own privacy throughout our stay. Very good communication, sent a welcome pack by e-mail before our arrival. Lovely place in a nice quiet location. Highly recommended!

  • Jack and Chris are a wonderful couple and made us feel very at home. They served scrumptious home-grown and home-cooked English breakfast and apple cider! The house is well furnished and there is a big, beautiful backyard with a breathtaking view of the surrounding meadows. Pepper and Thistle, two very lovely cats bring even more happiness to the household.

Our stone cottage is close to great views. You’ll love our place because of the ambiance and the outdoors space. We are also dog friendly.
You will have the whole cottage to yourselves. Come and go as you please and cook with a plentiful supply of pans or just relax in the quiet space. We are also dog friendly.
The cottage is situated in a hamlet with uninterrupted views across open countryside to the hills surrounding, just off the Radnor Forest, where the last dragon in Wales was slain! This border country is full of spectacular castles and has centuries of history. Great walks are a by-word for the border country.
  • This cottage was the PERFECT escape from the hustle and bustle of city life due to no mobile signal, which meant total peace. The cottage was quirky and the perfect size for the two of us. Peter greeted us when we arrived and he was very friendly and helpful and there was also an informative guide should we require anything else. The activity we enjoyed most on our short break was sitting on the balcony each evening with our bat detector. It was great fun watching the bats fly above our heads and listening to the owls in the distance. In the daytime the river was alive with baby trout, dragonflies and lots of birds including kingfishers. To get the most out of your holiday here, you need a car and it's a perfect base if you like visiting old churches. A short 5-10 minute drive away is St Mary's Church in Pilleth, which is beautiful and well worth a visit.

  • When we arrived at the cottage we were greeted by Pete and Amanda and an already roaring open fire. They were very welcoming, showed us around the cottage, supplied the basics for us (bread milk butter etc.), told us about the local area and were very happy to answer any other questions we had. Perfect. Would definitely come again!

  • We had a really lovely stay. The cottage is cosy with a little terrace looking over the river which was a prefect place to sit and have a morning cup of tea. Peter was quick to reply to messages and made our arrival really easy. I would definitely recommend his cottage to anyone staying in the area. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Location is great - really quiet and between two towns that have supermarket, pubs and everything you'll need. The house and kitchen is well equipped. Also Peter was very helpful with our questions. Highly recommended!

  • Great cosy cottage, has everything you need. The log/coal burner was great and the cottage stayed really nice and warm all night. Gorgeous views from every window and not overlooked at all, the photos don't do it justice at all. Peter and Amanda were great hosts and very welcoming, they had the fire going for us when we got there and made sure we had all of the essentials. Will 100% be returning for another stay - thank you!

Willey Chapel is a beautifully converted chapel located between 2 charming market towns in the Welsh border lands. It is magnificent for walking and is 4 miles away from the Offa's Dyke trail. It has stunning views and is the ideal place to reconnect with yourself, with nature, with loved ones or all of the above! It has a large garden with a clay pizza oven and there is a tin tabernacle if you are a large group and need extra space or a workshop space to crack on with a creative project.
This is the story of our home, the beautiful and unique Willey Chapel. Once upon a time on the Welsh Border... "According to records kept, there was a small chapel in the Pound Lane about 1830, and by 1868 it became apparent that this one was too small for the attendance of people at that time..." The Chapel was well-attended for many years until the 1970s when it became more of a meeting place, for the W.I., tea parties & other events. Eventually its former life came to an end, and it was sold and converted into a private dwelling. The new chapel was built in 1869 using the skills, materials and labour of the local community. Then in 1932, a tiny tin chapel near Kington became redundant, this was dismantled and transported by horse & cart to be re-erected here as the Sunday School Room, at a cost of £35. 16s. 3d. Willey Chapel is tucked away in the hills a short way from the Powys Herefordshire border, but only 3.5 miles from the two small but thriving towns of Knighton & Presteigne, where there is lots going on. Although actually in Herefordshire it has a Welsh postal address. It was converted to keep its original features. The ground floor is quite open plan although divided into 2 rooms - kitchen and sitting room. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms & a bathroom with a spacious landing. There are big velux skylights that make it lovely & light. It is situated beside a quiet lane and perched up high at nearly 1000 ft, with amazing views to the south west, looking towards Hergest Ridge. Wide-open skies, plenty of sunlight, clouds & weather. Also the sky is really dark at night, there's an observatory nearby, so clear moonlight & stars too. The chapel has brick construction with a slate roof and cast iron windows. It has its own water supply from a deep borehole. Oil fuelled central heating, with radiators in every room. A large Clearview woodstove in the sitting room. Decent broadband. There is nearly an acre of land adjoining the old Schoolroom, some of which has an ash & chestnut plantation, some garden area, some orchard trees. Just a small front garden outside the Chapel itself. The old Schoolroom has been converted to include a kitchen, bathroom, loo and sleeping platform. This has been used for events & workshops, as well as a separate place for guests to stay. There is also another workshop space adjoining with a loft overhead. If you are a group of more than 7, then the tabernacle can also be booked which sleeps up to 4 more. The chapel is the perfect place to get away from it all and reconnect to nature. You can welcome the swallows win the Spring, enjoy the antics of the resident starlings, the kites, buzzards & ravens, get involved in coppicing the ash trees to fuel the stove, tend the sedum roof or even bake bread in the clay oven. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking, situated only 4 miles away from the Offa's Dyke trail.
  • This is an amazing location to stay. Characterful old chapel converted into a comfortable rustic cosy abode. Lovely walks in the surrounding hills and woods, then back for a roaring fire. Great place to go to get away from the pace of modern life.

  • I cannot recommend the hospitality of Chris or Fin Lodge enough. Despite arriving in the dead of night, Chris met us with a smile, showed us round the lodge and took the time tell us about the surrounding area. He also gave us some fantastic advice for the weekend ahead. We awoke to a picturesque sunrise overlooking a snowy farm in heart of a beautiful valley. You'd be hard done by to find a more fantastic countryside location. The accommodation was fantastic, a wonderful 2 bedroom chalet, complete with a Chalet. What a fantastic weekend we had. 5 stars!

  • Beautiful Wales break! Chris' farm and surrounding area is absolutely breathtaking! The perfect place to get away from the business of the city. The accommodation is beautiful, family friendly and very spacious. The hot tub is an amazing bonus! We will definitely be coming back again and again!

  • An amazing place to get away from everything! Only a 10 minute drive to the village! Came here with my partner and my two friends, very ideal if you like the countryside and a hot tub!

  • Great accommodation and host! We all had a very enjoyable time and would stay again and recommend to others!

  • What a lovely weekend! We had such a great time at Fin Lodge, and couldn't have asked for better hosts. Set in the tranquil countryside with plenty of privacy we really couldn't have asked for more!

    Maeve2015-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the isolation of this place, just privacy and being away from it all. Playing snooker was fun but we quickly decided we wanted to just relax in the hot tub interspersed with trips to Knighton (10 min drive) for any supplies we fancied. Christopher is a great and accommodating host and whilst we were left alone to enjoy the peace and quiet, we knew he was always contactable if we needed anything or had any questions, the perfect balance. We've not been home 12 hours and are looking at the next possible dates!

    Russ2017-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic few days in the lodge. The lodge was clean and well equipped. It was the location that was amazing. The kids loved exploring and bird spotting whilst sat in the hot tub. Chris made us all welcome showing us the farm and even had us 'helping' to herd the sheep. Definitely recommended!

  • Bumbles Lodge is an amazing place, tucked away in the Shropshire hills. The views are to die for and we spent many a happy hour gazing out from the windows. The accommodation is very comfortable and cozy. It is a haven for bird lovers as a huge variety of birds come to feed right at the window of the property. The surrounding country side is rural with its rustic charm and there are some fantastic walks. Ken and Issy are fabulous hosts and they went out of the way to make our stay comfortable. Issy makes the most delicious jams and chutneys and we were provided with a good selection!! In summary, this is a hidden gem of a place where you can go and actually get away from it all!!! PS Mobile signals are erratic and it is best to forget about mobile communication!!!

  • We had a wonderful bank holiday weekend at Bumbles Lodge. Ken sent through very helpful directions beforehand and made us feel very welcome when we arrived. The view from the living room and veranda is stunning and the place was so peaceful - just what we needed. There are beautiful walks all around and it was great to get back to the cosy lodge for evenings by the fire (and watching the stars). We would definitely recommend this.

  • Lovely place to stay. Really had a lovely stay in this comfortable hideaway. Isobel was very welcoming..... lovely welcome pack left for us and some extras for the dog. The birdlife was amazing to view so close to the window - really fantastic.

  • We had a really great stay at Roseheart - Jacqueline and Tim were so welcoming and the place is set in the most beautiful location; fantastic for walking!

    Victoria2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is in the most fabulous location. Great for animal lovers and walkers. Hosts Jaqueline and Tim were very welcoming and helpful and the beds were super comfortable. All I would say I did not take on board that this is a traditional B&B and not self catering as I have come to expect from Airbnb. You should also be aware that you have to go through their kitchen in order to get to the bathroom

    Chloe2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous time! Jacqueline and Tim made us feel very welcome. It almost felt as if we were visiting a close family. Also, our little one absolutely loved the company of the animals! The house was very clean and there were ample snacks and beverages in the room. Jacqueline's treatments are absolutely amazing. Make sure you don't miss out on them!

    Magdalena2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline was welcoming and put herself out for us.

    Mark2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline and Tim are two amazing people! We're so glad that we got to meet them through booking their place. Roseheart Kingdom is a wonderful place with a great atmosphere brought to it by Jacqueline and Tim. The surrounding area is simply magical, if you want to see the English countryside, Shropshire is perfect. My wife and I really wanted to get away and find some peace and reset while being in the country. We wanted to see the woods and greenery so we decided that Roseheart Kingdom was in the perfect place, and it exceeded our expectations. We needed picking up from the train station and didn't have a car, we wish we did, but the hosts were kind enough to pick us up, and offered to drop us off in Ludlow the next day when they had some errands to run. The following day, after we mentioned wanting to spend the day exploring, they gave us an old topographic map and directions for a 10.5 mile walk/hike to another nearby town. It was a bit intimidating, but the best experience! It was supposed to be a cold rainy and windy day, right between Xmas and New Years, but the sun came out and we had the most beautiful walk and hike through woods, and fields and mud and wet roads and shrubbery, we even got a little lost and met an older gentleman with his two dogs walking down a road next to the field we were in who helped us with some directions. Even he and his dogs were straight out of an old film. The way everything unfolded was so perfect, and their shower is really great at the end of the long adventurous days! Best water pressure and heating in the UK ;) Breakfasts and teas were wonderful, and getting to experience Jacquline's magical pack of Welsh Collies is amazing. She is a wonderful human being with a Big warm heart, much wisdom, and healing hands for both people and animals. I highly recommend staying here, you can bring your pets, and I recommend getting Jacqueline's Shiatsu treatments for you AND your pets, and her homemade essential oils are wonderful. She's very knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the well-being of people and animals. We felt like we were staying with family! Highly Recommended, especially if you love dogs, and the countryside, and are looking for a wonderful and spontaneous experience. We would absolutely go back!

    Timothy2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for hosting us and our children. You and Tim have been fantastic hosts. Our birthday boy loved every bit of his stay and especially the pony ride and feeding of the animals. The place is serene and scenic. Will highly recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful getaway. Thanks Jacqueline and Tim!

  • Jacqueline was a fantastic host. It's the best place to stay if one of your party happens to be a dog as they couldn't be more accommodating to furry folk. For humans the place is equally brilliant, comfortable and homely. The scenery is stunning and the surrounding walks are very nice. We will definitely be returning.

Suite of three rooms in C14/15 farmhouse in the heart of quiet ‘Welsh Marches’ village of Bucknell (near Ludlow). Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. Village has two pubs with food, PO, trains and buses.
Accommodation comprises a suite of three rooms on the first floor of the oldest part of the house. The suite comprises a carpeted double bedroom with chest of drawers and wardrobe (+hairdryer). Flowers and fruit are in the bedroom. The room door locks from the inside with a clasp; a carpeted sitting room with a daybed and truckle bed underneath, a refridgerator, tea/coffee/hot chocolate facilities - various varieties and biscuits, two tables, a directors chair, a TV and DVD and a collection of board games; the bathroom includes a bath with a shower attachment on the taps. We recommend that the sitting room is more suitable for children than adults. The suite is therefore mainly for two adults but has the potential for two additional children. Alternatively it could sleep one adult in the main bedroom and one in the sitting room. A full English breakfast is included in the price. It is served in the dining room on the ground floor or in the garden if weather permits and guests prefer it. Locally sourced ingredients are used including free range eggs and fruit from the garden whenever possible. Specific dietary requirements such as gluten free or vegan provided can be catered for provide notice is given when the booking is made. The timing of breakfast can be arranged the previous evening. A sample menu is shown below. Guests may use the laundry facilities at a cost of £1 per cycle for washing and drying. An iron and ironing board are available in the kitchen at no cost. Packed lunches are available at £4.50 each. We like some notice of this however.
Bucknell is in the South Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is an excellent network of public footpaths from the house into the hills. Mountain biking, canoeing, cycling and fishing are also popular activities. The house is ideally situated for visiting the many attractive, historic towns, villages and sites in this border region. • We had a great time at this BNB! The area was beautiful, the local pub had great food and drinks, and the house was clean and perfect for our stay. The fresh breakfast in the morning was absolutely lovely! Thank you so much and can't wait to come back again.

  • We really enjoyed our short stay at Eleanor's lovely house. We were made very welcome in clean & comfortable rooms, and offered a stupendous breakfast in the morning. There's good private parking and an excellent pub within a short walk for dinner. We look forward to staying again.

  • Duncan and Eleanor's house and garden are beautiful. The rooms are lovely, the living room is a unexpected bonus. The breakfast spread was absolutely amazing, they have literally thought of everything. They went above and beyond to meet our needs, nothing was too much trouble. They made us feel so welcome and really cared that we were comfortable. We will definitely stay again! Thank you.

  • The house is a beautiful old farm house in the centre of the village. Duncan and Eleanor were perfect hosts and their hospitality was lovely. The Baron pub in the village is to be recommended.

A spacious self contained annex on a working small holding. Beautiful views over the Lugg valley in Llangunllo. One bedroom with 2 single beds ensuite shower and toilet. Plus a large 4 seater sofa bed in the lounge . Fully equipped kitchen and large lounge/diner with beautiful bay window views. Access to eco swimming pool ( unheated chemical free ) and log fired hot tub. Dog friendly ( there are free range chickens, sheep pigs ) Local pub 3/4 of a mile away. Knighton town approx 5 miles.
Our annex is on a small farm so usual farm activities and noises. There is an eco swimming pool that guests have access to at their own risk. It's a very friendly and busy little farm with the luxury of also being quiet and secluded. Excellent walking and views and dog friendly. The Lugg valley is a beautiful setting and the area has much to do if you love the outdoors.
The East wing is situated in a quiet Mid Wales valley. With beautiful views and magnificent countryside. Although it has the advantage of peace and quiet it is only 5 miles away from a small town with all the amenities of shops, pubs and a petrol station. It's a very friendly and sociable community. The local pub The Greyhound which has been a part of the community for countless years is a typical village pub. In the nearby town of Knighton are numerous good eateries. Once you've stayed in Mid Wales you will always revisit
  • Fantastic place to stay. Sarah was very helpful and left us some essentials when we got there. A great place if you want to relax with stunning views, lots of places to walk near by and a great place to take the dog. Thankyou for looking after us. We will definatly be back.

    Jessica2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a brilliant relaxing weekend we had at the pet friendly annex. The property is secluded set on the backdrop of a beautiful farm in the middle of the Lugg Valley. The annex was perfect for what we needed as it had a modern kitchen and bathroom coupled with large bay windows overlooking the farm. The space was perfect for a pet and our dog loved sleeping next to the wood burner when he settled in the evenings. The hot tub was a great treat at the end of a long days hiking. The property in Llangunllo is a few miles drive away from Knighton which is a lovely market town with a beautiful forest trail called Offa's Dyke path which is great for tiring out the dog. Sarah was an amazing host and she did all she could to make us feel welcome and even gave us some of her homegrown vegetables to cook so all-in-all a highly recommended destination if you're looking for a relaxing getaway

Nestled within a large private garden on the boarders of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Wales this hide away is ideally positioned for adventurous explorations or just getting away from it all! We have lovingly built the barn ourselves over a period of years, restoring many of its original features. We then designed and built a cabin to compliment the barn, both have unique qualities. The main house sleeps 6 persons and the cabin 2 persons and they can be booked together on a weekly basis.
Contemporary in style they are simple but thoughtfully designed to make your stay as comfortable and uncomplicated as possible! The building has all glass windows down one side, opening onto a timber deck overlooking the gardens to the front and a quarter of an acre of garden at the rear - all for your enjoyment. Whether you fancy sitting in dappled shade, eating alfresco using freshly picked herbs from the garden, or watching the expansive starlit sky and listening to the owls this is your place. There is also plenty of parking and storage for muddy bikes etc should you be up for something more active. The barn is very light and airy, maintaining lots of its original character with an informal relaxing feel. There is underfloor heating so its toasty when cold outside and in the summer you can have the outdoors in by opening up the the large glass doors! Inside you will be greeted by a large open plan kitchen with everything you should need! Including a large fridge freezer and a small wash up, utility area complete with washing machines (with an area for hanging clothes). The main feature is a generous eating area with a large bespoke table perfect for entertaining.

The village of Bucknell was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book in 1086 under the name of 'Buckehale' or 'Buckenhill. It is located in South Shropshire on the Welsh border within a beautiful river valley surrounded by pastured and forested hills.
I'm offering low-cost, quality accommodation, and a comfortable and friendly stay. I have two private bedrooms available at my house. This listing is for a ground-floor double bedroom with modern en-suite shower facilities and adjacent, separate toilet. If a twin bedroom is required, or accommodation for one night, or for a party of 3-4 people using the two bedrooms together, please see my other Airbnb listing for availability or send me an enquiry. Off-road parking is available, as well as secure and dry cycle storage.
I moved to this area of Shropshire because it is situated in stunning countryside and is very close to the Welsh border. The village of Bucknell is located within a beautifully scenic part of rural South Shropshire, and falls within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), being situated in the lush Teme valley bordering Herefordshire and Powys (Wales). Bucknell is located in ideal walking country where there are many public footpaths radiating in every direction across fields and through woodland. There are two local pubs within easy walking distance, ideal for guests requiring daytime or evening meals.
  • Beverley was an exceptional host who was always willing to go above and beyond to ensure our stay was special. Anybody looking to explore this picturesque part of Shropshire could not choose a better place to base themselves.

  • Beverley is a credit to Airbnb, everything she described about the house is perfect. I was made to feel very welcome for my 7 night stay and if the situation arises again workwise I would happily book another reservation.

  • I was made to feel very welcome while I was working in the area. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. I would strongly recommend staying at Beverleys house no matter what the occasion is.

    Catherine2015-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Gracious and perceptive, Beverley kept her word and was particular in everything--lovely room, comfy bed, every detail attended to. She did so much for me, far beyond what I was expecting, yet, she knew when to make herself absent. She earns a five-star rating from me, as do her quiet home and lush surroundings. I have to mention Scooby, her little dog. The respect and love he shows her says it all.

    Sasha2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beverley made me feel very welcome. The room was lovely, good wifi facilities, every detail has been considered. I will definitely stay again if ever I'm in the area. Thank you Beverley!

  • Beverley could not do enough to make sure I was comfortable and welcome. All my needs were carefully listened to and every effort was made to ensure I had all that I needed and that I was happy. The fixtures and fittings were of a high standard and the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean.Beverley took a great deal of time to sit down and chat in her lovely garden. She also gave me a wonderful tour of the surrounding countryside which showed me the lovely villages and small market towns within a short distance.I was also free to simply doze in the garden if that was what I wanted. This is an area of outstanding loveliness and many walks begin at the front door,As I was using public transport the trips that Beverley took with me and the information she provided gave me a much richer experience than I could have had on my own.An outstanding and sensitive host--I hope to return !!

  • Beverley was really welcoming and friendly. The room and bathroom were spotless and very comfortable and had everything I needed. The location was quiet and the country-side very easy to walk to from the house. Beverley made a big effort to provide some herbal teas for me which was greatly appreciated. I was able to use the microwave in Beverley's kitchen which was also no trouble.

    Adrienne2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beverley is a very helpful and friendy host- even came to meet me with her dog Scooby off the train. Great and well planned accommodation in a pretty village that is well worth exploring.

A self contained 3 room maisonette with galley kitchen and shower in a 17th & 18th century building with panelling and vaulted ceiling, just across the Lugg Bridge in Presteigne, suitable for a couple, two single people and a baby. Sorry no pets.
This historic stone building, built in the 17th century, with 18th century vaulted ceiling and panelling lies by the River Lugg, the ancient border between England and Wales. It has 2 bedrooms, the Vaulted Room with a UK standard double (135cm wide) bed and cot (72 x 138cm), and the Panelled Room with two 90cm standard single beds. All beds have good new mattresses. Our furniture is traditional, in keeping with the historic nature of the building. We have installed a WiFi booster which gives a very good signal.
Presteigne is the capital of Radnorshire, and is surrounded by beautiful hills with many walls including the Offa's Dyke Path.
  • Totally idyllic and such a lovely place to stay... crisp clean sheets, comfy beds and lovely garden to sit in. Highly recommend to stay here

  • We had a great stay at the Old Grove while we attended a family gathering nearby, a real home from home. We were made very welcome and our children loved the garden. The little touches such as toys, fresh produce and flowers made it really special. We would definitely stay again.

  • My second visit to the Old Grove was as relaxing and nourishing as the first. Tania is a thoughtful and relaxed host and had lit the fire and left home baked bread for my arrival! The space is very calming and has everything you need for a short stay, including a wonderful wood burner. The land around Presteigne at this time of year is magical. I highly recommend the Old Grove and a visit to Radnorshire!

  • This was one of the most delightful places my wife and I have stayed in. Enchanting setting, warm and friendly welcome - beautiful house (and garden). Facilities first rate- only (very minor!) criticism is shower room tiny and downstairs from bedrooms which might be an issue for older clients... little kitchen marvellously equipped and fridge well stocked...a perfect PEACEFUL weekend retreat - Will definitely be going again. A totally private, tastefully yet simply converted double decker Leyland bus set on the very edge of Radnor Forest with commanding views of open countryside and the rolling Radnor hills. Fully equipped and spacious with private outside space in a woodland glade. The bus has an upstairs bathroom, double ended roll top bath and glorious view. A wood burning cooker ensures all year round comfort inside and outside fires allowed too. Mains electricity/water. Biker friendly. Parking next to the bus.
The bus is surrounded by a wooded glade where a tent can be pitched. The toilet is inside the bus upstairs.
It is very rural here. Expect peace, tranquility, open farmland, forest, animal noises and starry skies.
  • Should be on everyone's bucket list! A wonderful, wonderful experience. The bus is lovingly converted and equipped, it's toasty and comfortable, every thing you could wish for (and them some) and the location is simply heavenly. Three of us visited, the couple slept upstairs and the dog and I downstairs with the wood burning stove. Miles and miles of woodland walks on the doorstep and lots of wonderful places to visit nearby. We ate in every night as it was just too nice not to make the most of our time there. Just amazing, thanks Andy and Kate!

  • Brilliant few days; the bus is beautifully located and the set-up is excellent. All the big things that you need, plus loads of little things that show Andy & Kate have really thought through everything that you could possibly need. We had a wonderful break and thoroughly recommend the Big Blue Bus to anyone who wants to get away from everything, but still have all the home comforts.

  • Perfect, pictures and description could not do this justice, from the onset the directions were accurate the greeting on the chalk board on the outside was a lovely touch as was the welcome basket, well equipped clean and comfortable a perfect retreat, would highly recommend

  • A truly magical place to stay! Quirky and cosy with a wonderful view over the hills and nestled on the edge of the forest. The use of space is inspired, especially the top-deck bath. Lots to do in the gorgeous surrounding countryside too. We all loved our time on the bus. Highly recommended!

    Elly2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Big Blue Bus is an essential bucket-list worthy place to stay. Far more luxurious than the photos or description suggest, everything we needed was provided and it is done to a very high standard. Extremely cosy and comfy, it is much more than just a quirky place to sleep and is better equipped than many B&Bs I've stayed in. Add to the mix a wonderful, secluded location with great views and you'd be daft not to stay here! Thanks Andy and Kate. We'll be back for sure.

    Duncan2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Big Blue Bus! A magical 4 days away from the city. Beautifully converted with everything you need & more. The surrounding area was more beautiful than we imagined. Andy & Kate were kind attentive hosts who greeted us with a lovely basket of food & wine. When else would you get to sit in a roll top bath on the top deck of a bus, looking out at horses grazing. Wonderful. Visited the Elan Valley Dams which were impressive to say the least. Hay on Wye well worth a visit, especially if you like literature. Couldn't recommend the Big Blue Bus enough.

    Deborah2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Bug Blue Bus was amazing. It had a fantastically unique and quirky style and Andy and Kate had thought of everything, from pots and pans, to logs for the wood burn fire and a complimentary hamper of local goods. The location was perfect, very quiet and secluded and excellent local walks in the woodland and beautiful views. The bus itself was very comfortable, clean and tidy and was well catered with all cooking equipment, fridge and a large sink area. It was great to have towels and cosy blankets provided to add to the lovely comfort of an evening. It was very relaxing and Andy and Kate literally left us to it, which was great. Thank you both for having us, it was an amazing experience and we'd highly recommend it to others

    Sarah2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Big Blue Bus is a really wonderful magical place. We loved every minute of our stay despite the rain. Taking a bath while being able to look across the field and into the hills is really something special. Book it. You definitely won't be disappointed. ❤️

Holiday Home in rural idyllic setting amidst beautiful countryside surrounded by forestry close to the towns of Ludlow & Knighton. Fully equipped including bedding and towels. A welcome continental breakfast basket and bottle of wine included. Horses and well behaved dogs welcome by arrangement. Horses will be charged £5 per horse per night for grass livery and £10 per horse per night for stable livery including bedding, hay a one hard feed. Explore by yourself or hire a guide for £10 per hour.
Situated down a private steepish forest track on a working sheep farm and Horse Riding Stables with direct access to miles of off road forest tracks suitable for walkers, riders and mountain bikes.
We are far from the madding crowd but not too far to travel to our local villages of Bucknell, Leintwardine, Knighton, Craven arms and Ludlow. All these villages have shops, petrol stations and public houses/ restaurants.
  • We stayed for six nights & thoroughly enjoyed it. The setting is beautiful & feels very remote although it is actually not that far from civilisation. There are lots of charming villages to explore nearby. It's a great base for walks & of course for horse-riding -- Gina offers a discount to her guests & we would definitely recommend it. The caravan itself is well-equipped & very clean. It's private but Gina is available if you need anything. As the listing makes clear, there are many animals about & they do make noise during the day (which we really liked) but it's very quiet & peaceful at night.

  • Lovely peacefully hideaway, tucked away but but close enough to local amenities, only there for one night but already missing the solitude and the stable/small farm atmosphere. Ideal location for exploring the local area and wildlife. Most impressed by the warm welcome from the host and also the very generous welcome basket and wine.

    Catherine2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely experience. Better than my expectation actually. Excellent communication by Gina. Gerry was very helpful and informative about the area. Stayed there for 4 days. Best place for unwinding after long work. I must say I had the best sleep so far on that double bed in peaceful surroundings. You get everything in that holiday house, heaters, microwave, stove, oven, Bar b q stand and they provided coal as well. I was surprised to see fresh milk bottle in the refrigerator. They left bread, milk, butter, jam, tea, coffee, sugar for 4 days. Felt over whelmed actually. What a lovely host Gina is. Went for horse riding next day on their horses, booked one-hour session and Vickey and girls were amazing. We ride through the forest with them. Carding Mill Valley walk and gliding club are 30 mins on the car. Must see the place. Tulip ( chocolate Labrador) is so sweet and friendly. Their baby goat Collin was fun to watch :) Wifi is bit weak but come on..who expects wifi on holidays in forest :) ( near the reception you can get good signals though) Don't forget to take your wellingtons if the weather is going to be rainy. Overall rating 5 star will visit again for sure.

  • Location, location, location!!! Gina's farm/riding stables is tucked away in a valley surrounded by forests with endless tracks/trails for walking/mountain biking/riding. The holiday home/caravan is far enough from the farm house for you to feel that you are on your own and has a lovely decked area for sitting to enjoy the views and watch the ducks, goats, sheep, horses and dogs going about there business. The holiday home itself is fairly spacious and clean and tidy with a bathroom with shower and a small kitchen sufficiently equipped for basic cooking. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay as did my dog Sammy. A great spot if you want to go walking - Knighton and the Offa's Dyke path are just 7 miles away if you fancy a day out and a big stomp up the beautiful Shropshire hills. My first visit to this area and I was very impressed. Thanks GIna and good luck

  • We had a thoroughly wonderful stay in Gina's Darky Dale holiday home. The location is perfect for those wishing to truly escape and are seeking some splendid isolation. Situated at the end of a long private track (fine for regular road cars, we were driving a Vauxhall Corsa), the farm is far from any other buildings, surrounded by forested hills and pasture. Home to horses, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens (thanks for the eggs!) and the farm cats and dogs, the location is perfect for animal lovers and families; just be prepared for the occasional inquisitive sheep! A real highlight of the location is that Darky Dale is located close to some of the darkest skies in the UK; we were treated to some breathtaking skywatching from the terrace of the holiday home, with the band of the Milky Way and plenty of shooting stars visible. Be prepared to be cut off from mobile signal, and the WiFi is (understandably) not particularly reliable. Perfect for those seeking some digital detox. The holiday home is large and could easily sleep a family of 6. There were just two of us so we made the most of the space, enjoying breakfast around the dining table and spending our evenings out on the large terrace area. There are cooking facilities in the holiday home and barbecue facilities outside. The bed was comfy and we were kept warm by the heating in the main living area and the bedroom. There is hot running water, and the shower was a perfect temperature. The welcome basket was much appreciated! Beyond Darky Dale and the nearby village of Bedstone, there is plenty to see and do. We visited Ludlow for their Food and Drink festival, hosted in the castle. There are a number of other castles nearby with fascinating and intertwined histories, at Clun, Stokesay, Wigmore, and Hopton (which is a nice hike from the holiday home). If you are into real ales, the area is also home to a number of small breweries. I recommend a visit to the Ludlow Brewing Company in Ludlow; the Clun Brewery housed in the White Horse pub in Clun; The Three Tuns Brewery in Bishops Castle (the UK's oldest licensed brewery, dating back to 1642); and the Six Bells Brewery, also in Bishops Castle. Next time I hope to travel up to Montgomery to visit Monty's Brewery. As in the description, there is no shortage of trails/bridleways for hiking, mountain biking, and horse riding. We went for a pleasant short hike up to the nearby hilltop at Hopton Titterhill. Thanks again Gina, and we look forward to seeing you again.

The house is in one of the quietest spots in Presteigne. Two minutes walk to the church, the shops, restaurants, pubs. At the end of the garden you could be in the middle of the country. It is a spacious comfortable environment.
The house is comfortable with interesting furnishings and paintings. There is a large garden complete with a pond and a hammock.
Presteigne provides many delights. Pubs, music, both classical and other genres. There is a Wine Bar, Deli, pubs, restaurants, and funky second hand shops. Further afield there are hills to climb, Offa's Dyke to walk, rivers to swim in.
  • Jane is a delightful host and was very welcoming. The house is right in the middle of the little town and is interesting in itself. There is a safe place for bicycles. Good breakfast too!

  • Jane is a warm, friendly and helpful host who will welcome you in her lovely and very tastefully decorated home. Presteigne is a nice place to stay. Jane offered to pick me up from the Dyke and brought me back to it, the road to Presteigne is not friendly for walkers. When it turned out I had left one of my waterbottles she brought it to my next stop in Gladestry! Highly recommended.

  • We had an excellent time staying with Llinos and Nigel. They made us very welcome and their house is just lovely. Peaceful setting, a very comfortable bed and delicious breakfast. Thank you

  • Beautiful house and garden hidden away off the street. Llinos and Nigel were involved in the local community and we went for an evening pizza at Went Meadows with music, children, dogs and evening sunshine. My dog and I would definitely recommend staying here.

  • We stayed here while other family stayed at the Redwood Forest. The house is beautiful and our room was very clean. The bathroom was fab with a great shower. It is was quiet and yet close to the main streets in Prestigne, which is a very friendly town.

  • A hidden away gem and tranquil place to stay in a small friendly town. Many thanks to llinos and Nigel for sharing their beautiful home, the delicious breakfasts and help. They even managed to find me some walking boots when I found I had left one at home!

  • Lovely place to stay for a couple of nights. Llinos and Nigel are very friendly and hospitable - and as everyone says, Nancy is a delight! Our room was very comfortable, as was the bed. The shared bathroom has a great shower and good space, and depending on who else is staying, you may be lucky to get it to yourself! All in all, a very comfortable stay. Easy to find with the Judges Lodgings in Broad Street on the right, but the narrow archway by Well House (opposite side of the road) is easily missed - we were pleased we weren't driving a big 4 x 4.

  • This house is gorgeous - it is self-designed, has huge windows so is full of light, it has an unusual mezzanine level with great views and a lovely seating area just for you. Llinos and Nigel are very welcoming and the dog Nancy will melt your heart. The bathroom is fantastic with stand-alone bath and rain shower. The room is gorgeous and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a lovely view out to the garden. This listing is a cut above, I heartily recommend you stay here.

  • Llinos and Nigel's house is a beautiful self-build surrounded by quiet gardens smack in the middle of Presteigne. The room is a comfortable, large and private feeling space with its own bathroom and breakfast was delicious. Llinos and Nigel are very gracious and easy going hosts and we loved their dog Nancy and pet chicken!

Cwm View is a Victorian semi-detached house on the Welsh, Herefordshire border. Only a short distance from Offa's Dyke path and numerous other walks on the doorstep. With a double and a twin room and a guest bathroom this is truly a home from home. We also have a guest lounge/dining room with a TV for guest use. Dogs welcome at prior approval (we do have a cat!!).
This Victorian cottage has been lovingly restored with a beautiful garden with sunny spots to relax and enjoy the setting. Short walk to the river and town center which has amenities such as shops and restaurants.
Presteigne is a beautiful rural welsh town which hosts a wonderful classical music festival each year and also a family festival, Sheep Music. Based on the Offa's Dyke path, there are wonderful walks and it is only a short drive from the Offa's Dyke Center in Knighton. Lovely location for walkers, couples and families.
  • Lovely Victorian house, sympathetically decorated and oh such a comfortable bed, the sort you never want to leave. Breakfast feast with locally sourced provisions. Cwm View is but a short walk from Presteigne high street and a number of cafes, restaurants, pubs and the attractions of this delightful town. Book here and you certainly won't be disappointed on any count. Delightful hosts who even tolerated by dog.
