  • This was our first visit to Merida and we really didn't know what to expect. We discovered that Rosa's cabins were the absolute perfect spot to spend a few days on Ometepe Island. We loved our simple, clean and comfortable cabin right on the lake front. It's a very beautiful and quiet spot. A special highlight was having our food prepared and delivered to our cabin. Everything was excellent. Noldan was super helpful in making arrangements for activities on the island and responded very quickly to our questions/request. Staying here will give you the opportunity to meet a wonderful Nicaraguan family and get away from some of the more tourist oriented towns. I can't say enough great things about our time at the cabins!

  • A secluded bungalow on a secluded beach, in a family setting, away from the tourist crowds and yet close to all the wonders of Ometepe. Louis, Rosa and Noldan offered an outstanding hospitality and were very keen to make each day a special day! A special stay indeed. Highly recommended.

  • Noldan's hospitality and airbnb were superb to say the least. It was an awesome countryside experience on the lake. Noldan's tips, recommendations and connections made everything during our stay extremely smooth. His family was extremely hospitable and amiable; it was a special touch to this airbnb. I couldn't have asked for a better experience in Ometepe.

  • You don’t need to look any further than Nolden’s place when you’re looking for a place to stay on Ometepe. Noldan’s family are all wonderful, friendly, and helpful, and ready to do whatever you need to make sure you are happy with your stay, plus are amazing cooks if you want reasonably priced meals from them. The casita was clean and large, very comfortable, with a private restroom, your own porch with hammock and a wonderful view of the close by lake front. Noldan himself is an excellent guide who speaks beautiful clear Spanish if you would like to practice your Spanish but he can also speak English if you need clarification on something. He is especially knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, so through Noldan, I learned about and saw the local birds, reptiles, monkeys, ecosystems, and plants. He was our guide for an amazing tour of the Island (with a driver named Miguel who had a very clean car that he takes great pride in and is a safe, patient driver so is also highly recommended), and a kayak trip to Rio Istian. Plus, the animal life around your casita is easy to see including everything from squirrels to iguanas, to trogons and parrots. Noldan was just as excited as me to see wildlife on his land and knew the names (in Spanish and English) and habits of each one. So, if you’re into nature, Noldan’s place is the place to be! Noldan can also set up other adventures for you. For example, he has a friend named Bismar who has very healthy horses (bigger than the usual ones you see around the island) who provides horseback tours. I took a 2-hour tour with him up the side of the volcano and saw life in the campo plus a lot of wildlife including howler monkeys. Bismar provides other longer tours including ones to a waterfall and higher up the volcano, and I would totally recommend taking a ride with him as he is a good guide too, takes great care of his horses which are well trained and tranquilo, plus speaks very clear Spanish also. All in all, I had the best time staying with Noldan and his family, and am so happy I found him through Airbnb. They are definitely a treasure to be discovered and experienced, and I highly recommend Noldan’s place. Did I mention that Noldan’s father is a fisherman, so you can have fresh lake fish for dinner whenever you’d like.

  • Our stay with Noldan and his family was the best time we had during our 21 day trip-completely thanks to the amazing and genuine hospitality we received. From reading the reviews, we were expecting a great stay. But upon arriving we were in awe with the service-completely exceeding our expectations. The location and property-beautiful and relaxing. You can’t beat swimming in the lake watching that sunset. The room-private, clean, and comfortable. We had our own porch with furniture and a hammock. The people-incredible. Noldan and his family create an atmosphere that we were genuinely sad to leave. So accommodating and friendly. We had delicious meals which we ate privately each night, creating a romantic and nice atmosphere. Our only regret is not being as fluent in Spanish so that we could have spent more time with his family! We hope to be back soon.

  • This is a Family Hostel and I will that this family was amazing ! I will describe my stay in has an experience, because my friend and I really enjoyed the company of Noldan's family. His mother and sisters were really welcoming, helpful, and always looking after us. We even got the chance to spend time playing with the little once, they made bracelet for us and everything, we loved sharing moments with them. Anyway more than this the place is really peacefull you will have the chance to enjoy beautiful beach house with view on the sunset. Noldan can help you plan all kind of activities at good prices, he plan horseback riding for us for exemple but there are many thing to do in Ometepe. I would definitly recommand this cabinas to anyome who goes to Ometepe, if I go back I would'nt go anywhere else !

  • We enjoyed our stay with Noldan and his family very much. They are super friendly and hospitable. They did everything to make our stay perfect and they helped us wherever they could. Noldan knows a lot about the island. He gave us a lot of information when we arrived and arranged all the activities for us. The location is just perfect: a beautiful place with a small beach in the quiet village of Merida. We loved the place because it's so authentic. You live with a local family, get great local food and enjoy the peaceful life of the islanders.

Buena comida, buena atención y lugar super tranquilo.

  • Beautiful house, lovely farm, amazing breakfast with fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden. Missy was really helpful when we planned our activities for the stay. The sunset from the top floor cannot be beaten.

  • This house is awesome! Beautiful, clean and missy, he property manager is very helpful. Missy arranged all of the activities we were interested in, which was really convenient since we had a very short stay of two nights. She set us up with a great guide for hiking Concepcion. The guide was really knowledgable about plant life on the volcano and super sweet as he gave us his water when we ran out on the way down the volcano. Missy always answered her phone when we were stuck places and needed a taxi or just a suggestion of where to eat and she gave good ones! She even called a veterinarian to get info on bringing a dog to the States when a man offered us his puppy. I noticed people wrote about how many bugs there are, but it's really not much for being in the middle of the jungle. I got more bits on the mainland then staying at the Jungle house. The only downside is that the taxis that Missy and Chris provide are very expensive, similar to prices I pay in NY. Overall, we were extremely happy with our stay!

  • Beautiful view of concepcion from the jungle. Very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!

    Rose2018-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the Jungle House. The staff was very helpful even coming to the port to pick up our bags so we could rent a motorcycle and begin our vacation on the island immediately. This was so helpful since we were only there for two days. The breakfast was delicious and we loved the remoteness of the house but still felt like we could go anywhere we wanted on the motorcycle.

    Kendal2016-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • A gem in the jungle! Amazing place with amazing views as advertised, even better in person! Their attention to detail here was amazing all the way down to a list of names/numbers/activities for things to do on the island. Megan has been super helpful in assisting with some border issues we ran into and if given the chance, I 100% will be back!

    Chase2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • A dream. It was hard to believe this place is real. Unbelievable views, amazing food, and peaceful nights.

    Nick2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Chris' place was amazing! Missy and Erwing were so kind and helpful! Beautiful facilities but in a very remote jungle atmosphere. The kitchen staff was great and the fresh food was delicious. Staff helped us make reservations and everything. And when we couldn't get on the ferry, they welcomed us back for another night! Thank you :-) we hope to see you again!

    Kayla2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our four-day stay at the Jungle House. The rooms were clean and the bldg itself beautifully handcrafted. The ladder to the loft area is almost straight up - no problem for most people but be prepared. The climbing was totally worth it to sit in the swinging chairs on the outdoor deck. What a view! And great bird watching. You totally felt like you were in the jungle. The road up is a challenge but, hey, its the jungle, right? Its a nice walk to Balgue which has lots of places to eat. Bfast was good and plentiful and allowed time to meet the other guests or chat with staff - or just eat. Megan was a top-notch communicator and the staff team was truly a team. We enjoyed talking to Megan and Chris about the Selvista philosophy of respect for community and environment. Impressive place!

West facing for amazing sunsets across the lake and views of Volcan Concepcion. Close to restaurants and small stores. This is the heart of Ometepe. Merida is rural but with many tourist amenities and activities. The casita is on the lake at the end of a short dirt road off the main road. It is passable with a small car. Friendly people -a wonderful community!
  • This is a wonderful place to stay for a very relaxing vacation. Cindy was super responsive! Even though we got caught in one of the worst storms of the year we still had all of the amenities we needed. Cindy even offered to let us stay another night because we didn't have electricity for a few days. The road to get there is pretty rough so a good motorbike is recommended.

    Rosalee2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cindi and her entire staff provided a great experience during our time at Casita Punta de Guava! We had some minor water issues and they were resolved immediately with the help of Hamilton, Adolfo, and Yossel. This is the type of AirBnB experience we hope for. The house is great and plenty to do around the area. Thanks for everything!

    David2015-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Cindi's Casita is a lovely spot, and we had a fantastic time in Merida. The porch is perfect for sunset gazing, the lake is gorgeous, the internet connection is better than we have at home, and Cindi's team of local people made us feel very welcome. It was a great spot.

    Bill2016-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for the stay! The team was really nice and make our stay fantastic.

    Cynthia2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a great stay at Cindi's casita. The house is simple but clean and had all the necessities. While hanging out on the porch we watched grazing horses go by and were greeted by neighborhood dogs. At night we watched fireflies. Merida is very quiet and rural so after sundown the town was dark and there is no nightlife, something to keep in mind depending on what kind of trip you are looking for. In daytime it was a close walk/bike ride to simple restaurants and stores. We paid to have Yossel deliver us dinner and at our request one night she made us a lovely dessert as well. She speaks only Spanish so it was easiest to arrange these things via text (so I could use my translator app to make sure I made sense!) When we mentioned we wanted to rent additional bikes to ride to Cascada San Ramon (a beautiful but butt-kicking hike btw), Yossel arranged to have men drop off/pick up the bikes directly to us at the casita which made things so simple. Cindi likewise made it a smooth trip by arranging a mainland driver Martin to get us at our place in Granada and take us to the ferry, then for Adolfo to get us after the ferry and take us to the house. We had him stop at the supermercado prior to driving to the casita so we'd have groceries (local pulperias have limited options). They likewise helped us with return travel at the end of our stay.

    Bridgett2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for somewhere to chill and decompress, and Cindi's casita was perfect for this. We loved having coffee on the front deck every morning, while watching the birds and enjoying the local domestic animals. We particularly enjoyed being adopted by dogs. Yossel and her family were fantastic, and Adolfo was a great driver and guide. We hadn't appreciated that our flight arrival and departure times would mean we lost a day at both the beginning and end of our holiday, due to the ferry schedule, but Cindi arranged transportation for us and recommended a hotel that worked out well. She was also incredibly responsive and helpful for us when Hurricane Otto was making his trip across Nica - it turned out to be a non-event, but Cindi ensured that we had all the supports we needed, just in case. Except for that drama, it was a restful and fascinating trip.

    Sue2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible location! Cindi is such an attentive host and made sure all our needs were taken care of very quickly. If you want a private, beautiful location this home is perfect for you!

    Allison2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay on Ometepe. The casita has everything we needed for a relaxing peaceful few days, including an unlimited supply of falling mangoes! Adolfo the driver and Hamilton's family were very helpful, and were patient with my quite basic Spanish. The morning swimming in the lake with a backdrop of Concepción Volcano were lovely. We enjoyed a lot of peaceful hammock time and didn't want to leave! Howler monkeys in the mango trees, lots of passing cows, horses, pigs and dogs. The local families who pass on the beach in front of the casita to go fishing and collect mangoes, were all very friendly. This area of Ometepe felt very rural but we always felt safe. We had delicious and cheap fish dinner in Cabollitos (bring a torch for the walk home!) We rented a scooter from Byron who lives near the Y junction and Pescaditos restaurant. The fruit stall there can take you to him. The casitas bicycles were a bonus for short journeys. The waterfall was dry when we hiked it so in hindsight I would ask at the bottom before doing the sweaty uphill 3k walk. All in all a fabulous stay. Thanks Cindi!

  • BEST PLACE TO STAY IN OMETEPE!

100 % recomendado

  • A really nice and quiet place surrounded by fruit plantations. It's nice to sit in the front yard having conversations with Daniel, his mother or his friends occasionally coming over and if you have any questions regarding the places around or any activity everybody is well informed and eager to help you. The food you can have with them is fresh prepared and tastes really good.

  • The views were unforgettable, and Missy was very hospitable and great at helping us book all our activities. Erwing was nice enough to meet us at port with a motorcycle, and let us drop it off there, too. The private tour of the grounds was very informative. Echoing other reviews, everything is outdoors but as long as the occasional bug doesn't bother you, your stay will be lovely.

  • For those looking to seriously disconnect and immerse themselves in nature! Although the location is very remote and rustic, the staff made it easy to settle in and were always accessible. What a great experience!!

  • Selvista Guesthouses was a wonderful experience on Isla Ometepe. Melissa Lucas was on top of everything and was so great with responding to any question. She arranged all transportation and rentals, such as scooters, that we requested. Erwing was knowledge in all aspects of the organic farm and had a fantastic smile.

  • There aren't words to describe how exquisite the Selvista experience was- it was the highlight of my time in Nicaragua and that says a lot as all of it was incredible. This place is an absolute dream. If you have the chance-Go. It's that simple.

  • Wow! Wow! Wow! You have to see this place to believe it! There just aren't enough positive descriptors to use. We stayed in the homestead house (solar powered dome) and it was amazing! Breathtaking views and an incredible outdoor eco shower! Everything here has the environment in mind from a wonderful permaculture vantage point. The local dogs will steal your heart! The staff make delicious breakfasts every day and work very hard to ensure cleanliness and hospitality! And Megan, the local host, was a libel gem in the jungle! Truly, she impressed on every level: helpfulness, knowledge, personality, sense of humor, availability, everything! She stole my heart too! Even when the solar power broke down, she quickly moved us to one of the other luxurious guest houses. Felt actually a little spoiled that I was able to stay in 3 different guest houses! Take the farm tour too! Thank you so much Megan, staff, Chris, y perros! I'm coming back!!!

  • If you’re looking for a quiet getaway from the busyness of life come here!!! Not only are the places beautiful and private but Megan is amazing. She helps with any questions or advice you may need on the island. Apart from the privacy of the homes, there are common areas giving you the perfect opportunity to meet new people. Absolutely will recommend!!

  • Homestead is one of our best experiences from our trip to Nicaragua. The location, which is a little outside the the town of Balgue, is a twenty minute walk from the rest of the town's hustle bustle. The farm in which the guest houses are located is home to multiple plantations of fruits and herbs. The home itself is clean and the outdoor shower was an added bonus. The bed came with a mosquito net which was awesome considering the amount of tiny creatures we spotted around the homestead. Having wifi was an absolute plus as well. The farm fresh breakfast in the morning was awesome and the Pineapple and Lemongrass tea that was prepped from produce from the farm was the cherry on the top for us for our beautiful stay! As for close by restaurants, we tried El Bamboo which is a 20 minute walk from the guesthouses and it was amazing! Overall, our trip to Ometepe was made very memorable cos of our stay at the Homestead

Plátanos, cocos y otras frutas tropicales a mano..

  • Amazing, relaxing stay. Clean room. Great breakfast. Short walk to Balgue for restaurants. Easy check in and communication. Great to learn about permaculture used on the property. We arranged activities through Megan - seeing petroglyphs and hiking Maderas, which were close by. One of our favourite spots in Nicaragua. And they have awesome dogs too :)

  • I stayed with my girlfriend in the lower floor of the Forest house for two nights. The farm is about a 5-10 minute walk from the main road where the taxi drops you. Christopher wasn't there however we were well looked after by Mellisa. Mellisa was extremely helpful with organising trips, mopeds and general recommendedations for things to do and places to eat. The room was nice and also very clean, complete with fans, hammock, mosquito net, filtered water and a comfortable bed. There was always hot water in the shower and a compost toilet beside the room. Overall we were extremely happy with our stay, the room was very nice, breakfast was delicious and Mellisa was very helpful (especially when our moped broke down in the middle of nowhere). The only downside was noise from other guests staying in the room above, which unfortunately carried through to our room. This was no fault of the host, and Mellisa was apologetic. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a slightly more 'authentic' experience of Ometepe. The house is also only a 10 minute walk from the start point for hiking Maderas.

  • A wonderful retreat on a uniquely beautiful island. A great base from which to explore Ometepe. Surprising creature comforts like an honour bar of drinks and snacks and fully powered cabins (fans, speaker for your phone, outlet to charge your phone) for such a rustic location were a welcome treat. As the listing says, best to arrive before dark. I didn't, and fared just fine, but missed the driveway a few times before I found it, and I'd started into the jungle solo before I was found by a friendly and helpful staff member, Manuel, and one of the dog-hosts at Selvistia. I loved the shower hut, and delicious breakfasts. And not far away, Ojo de Agua is a stunning place to swim and spend the day.

  • So much better than we could have imagined. Probably the best Airbnb we have ever stayed at. The views from the rooms and walking around the property were endless. It’s a little far out from the port, but that was one of its charms. They had great suggestions for things to do and they had a guy for everything! We stayed in the jungle house and loved every bit of it. The outhouse was something new for us but it was honestly one of the best bathrooms we had all trip. I can’t say enough about how great this place is. Oh and if you love dogs, there are a few very friendly and loving dogs to keep you company. If we come back to Ometepe in the future we will 100% be staying here. Thanks again! - Matt & Breanna

  • An experience not to be missed! Selvista is a shining example of what eco-tourism should be. You could tell that every part of the property was designed as such to create a beautiful, unique, eco-friendly experience for each of its guests. The breakfasts were delicious and showcased many of the local, organic ingredients the farm and surrounding area has to offer. The view of Concepcion Volcano from the top floor of the jungle lodge is outstanding - and there is plenty of wildlife accessible from the ground level as well! Megan was very helpful in scheduling all of the activities we wanted to do during our 3 day, 4 night stay on Ometepe - including the free farm tour, which should not be missed! I will miss the friendly farm dogs as well after I have gone. Go ahead and book a stay here - you will not regret it!

  • Selvista is a secluded little hideaway on Ometepe of basic log cabin rooms nestled among the trees. The top floor rooms are best as you get a little porch, own bathroom and view of the trees. It's a relaxing place to stay and great for nature lovers. It's a little off the beaten track so make sure to pack light as you'll need to walk up a small dirt path to get there!

  • There's too much for me to rave about so here's what you need to know: -Melissa is so prompt at responding and can set up anything for you. Yes, it will be more expensive than finding it yourself but the few extra dollars are truly worth it: they have deep connections in the island and you will have the best-of-the-best. -Erwing is an awesome young man. He is so helpful. This place is in the middle of the jungle and he dealt with a spider for some other guests that were there. (We are still laughing about that one hah) -The island is a total gem. In fact, I urge you not to come here so you don't tell everyone you know about it. It should be cherished and taken care of. -Lastly, the hikes up the volcanos are no joke. It is not a "walk in the park." I am a seasoned hiker and it was quite difficult. For anyone who has not climbed a thousand plus feet and taken a 8+ hr hike, this may not be for you. With this in mind, Felipe will give you an awesome tour and if you can converse in Spanish a bit, he is a gentle and kind soul. The casitas we're awesomely hand built of local materials, the animals are so cute and friendly, the produce soooo delicious, their mission leaves you with hope for the future but most of all, the staff and the locals will leave you charmed. Thanks again for so much more than we expected!!!

  • Was so sad to leave! The island is magical and Megan made it so much more. Their site offers all the info needed to get to the island and to Selvista. She also made our ferry reservations for the car and gave me the name of an excellent guide for our hike up Concepcion. The accommodations are spotless which is the most important factor to me when deciding where to stay. Do not expect luxurious amenities. You will get giant spiders and all but that all adds to the experience.

    Jean2018-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved everything about the treehouse! Megan was great at explaining everything and chatting every morning at breakfast (which was delicious)! Be prepared to walk quite a bit or arrange daily transportation. The ATV rentals definitely made getting around easier :)

  • A beautiful place with amazing views. Megan was a lovely host and helped us arrange activities during our stay. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and filling. Please note if you are scared of spiders or bugs you probably shouldn’t stay here. We saw two giant tarantula sized spiders in our room, there is a mosquito net so you are protected but keep that in mind we didn’t realize how many bugs would share our space. Other than that we loved learning about permaculture and enjoyed our stay at Selvista and the magical island of Ometepe.

  • This was such a great place to stay! The environment is very chilled out and the houses have some great amenities with really good views from up top. We unfortunately only stayed here one night but I would definitely come back, next time I am in Nicaragua.

  • If you're looking for a comfortable eco lodge in the heart of the jungle then this is your place, Megan is the perfect host and cheerily met our many demands. As this place is in the middle of a jungle there are plenty of bugs flying & crawling around, however most (barring the mosquitoes) will leave you well alone. The views of Volcano Concepcion are incredible!

  • We couldn't find Christopher's place. It was further from the town of Balgue then we expected. However I am sure it is a lovely place to stay, we did not stay the night so can't comment on how the hotel is. Pictures look great!

  • Come prepared, this is a great location to kayak from, climb the volcano and do the waterfall. This is out of the way for transportation and a bit of walk for basic food supplies. There is a great little bar 711 steps away! We walked it a few times. Also we had food cooked a few times by Lesbia which was great typical Nica food.

  • Jessica's place was great. Perfectly located in El Peru, it's very close to the entrance to Maderas Volcano as well as the San Ramon waterfalls. We got there late and rented two scooters in Moyogalpa - it took us roughly one hour to get to Jessica's home. Despite the late arrival, she was waiting for us! The lake view and the view on Concepcion Volcano from Jessica's place - priceless. Worth every penny. Thank you for the great hospitality!

  • Amazing location, prob best place on island to view volcano and sunset! Also, no wind on this side of the island. House is basic, very clean and as presented in photos. Kids loved playing in the very warm lake, chasing the chickens and watching the monkeys in the trees!

    Jarrett2018-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • The views are gorgeous. The place is a little bit far away from stores and restaurants but that is what we were looking for. The host is a fantastic cook and made us supper and breakfast on request. We loved waking up to sounds of nature and going on kayak trips.

  • Lesbia and her husand were so nice and helpful. They booked a hike to the volanoes with a very reliable guide that I felt safe with (I was hiking alone). They packed me a to go container of fruit before my hike and gave me fruit from their farm throughout my stay. They also rented their bike to me and I enjoyed my 13 mile bike ride to ojo de agua very much! The property is so calm and relaxing. The sunsets with the volcano beach view really make it worthwhile (especially when watching it from the large hammock)! Thank you Lesbia! There are a few restaurant/bars within close walking distance. If you want a calm and relaxing stay this is a place to come - I highly recommend!

  • Roslyn and Jonathan make the impossible possible with this one of a kind getaway paradise. It’s modern and stylish while still feeling in tune with the natural surroundings. The room has 4 big windows each with a view better than the last, letting loads of natural light in when opened and providing cool shade when closed. The breakfasts were delicious and a great start to everyday. We were amazed at the value that was jam packed into $3.50 per meal. Every meal stared with a bowl of fruit including mango, pineapple, watermelon, and banana. There was freshly squeezed orange juice, and a had a hot plate of rice and beans, eggs (we chose scrambled and onions, green peppers and green onion were included), a piece of cheese and fried plantains. They provided salt & pepper and this delicious hot sauce; Don Julio. There was always someone nearby to answer a question or help with anything. The maintenance man/liaison, Miguel was helpful organizing taxi rides or scooter rentals, providing helpful tips and always answering with a smile. Over all Ometepe was a paradise in every sense of the word. We would highly recommend going with them over anywhere else. They are quick to respond and provide accommodations for whatever you can think of. We will be recommending this to friends and family. Thanks Roslyn y Jonathan!

  • The home was excellent with stunning views of Maderas and the surrounding land. It was hard to get out of the hammock! Omg will did, the trail up to Maderas was right on the road to get to the home. The home is in the town Balgue which has several restaurants as well as being close a bunch of other restaurants within a 20 minute walk. I would not hesitate at all to go back!

    Jason2018-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Roslyn and Jonathan's remote volcano view apartment. It's a little challenging to get to the apartment and we didn't had wifi the whole 3 days, but we had an amazing clean and luxury apartment with a very comfortable king size bed, Italian shower (with high pressure and warm water) delicious breakfast ($3.50) and the volcano view from the patio and garden. Highly recommend this place. Miguel (the property manager) was very helpful with organizing a motorbike ($40/day) and a taxi back to the ferry ($25). Thanks a lot for your help. If we are in the area again, we will definitely come back to your place :)

  • Roslyn, Jonathan and all the staff were brilliant hosts, really helpful and provided information about restaurants, activities, travel and prices. Their home is beautiful and comfortable with views of the volcano second to none. Would really recommend staying here

  • Highly recommended. The place was amazing. It was clean, comfortable, stylish and with a beautiful view. The staff were excellent and very helpful in arranging a hike. Close to town and some very good restaurants, some of which deliver for a small fee. We definitely enjoyed our stay.

  • Very nice home lost in the nature. Owners were very helpful to organize trips. Perfect for famylies

    Georges2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve stayed at. It was so clean and comfortable. The view is spectacular from the very large private porch. Roslyn and Jonathan were so responsive/helpful with booking ferries for us to and from the island. I would absolutely stay there again!

    Tom2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! It was our first time on Ometepe and Roslyn and Jonathan were more than accommodating. Their home was beautiful and has one of the best views of Concepcion right from the porch! Tip: The windows are open when you sleep so if you are light sleeper bring ear plugs or some of the animals on the nearby farms might wake you!

Finca Montania Sagrada lies in an open space at the foot of Volcano Maderas. The property is about 50mts above lake level, off the main road and quiet. Coming here is not for everyone. The short road (400mts) to reach our gate is very stony and bumpy. Not all vehicles make it up. In the rainy seasons, May, June, September and October it becomes worst. Exploring the neighbourhood is best done walking.
At Finca Montania Sagrada we offer all new and comfortable accommodation. Mamacita's room is on the ground floor of Casa verde, a new green construction that matches the color of the nearby trees. It's a big double room with a romantic king sized bed, private bathroom with hot shower. Ceiling fan and electric kettle Private veranda with rocking chairs, table and hammock. The room has a lovely view of the lake where you can admire fantastic sunsets! All of our accommodation are placed in the middle of flower and fruit gardens. Breakfast is included in room price and dinner (Italian Pasta & salads) is at request before 3pm. Our Finca organizes horse riding tours of the Island with Hari's Horses. We also organize guided hikes to the volcanoes and kayak tours to the river Istian. We live with a variety of animals: horses (12), dogs of different kinds, cats and parrots which mingle and share our daily life. If you like to chill out in the middle of nature and animals our Finca is the place you're looking for. Also check our other listings : - Papacito room with fantastic view - Cabana Beate, volcanoes view
From our finca you can reach the main road in 5 mins. There you can find a number of local restaurants, and little shops, also you can rent bicycles, motorbikes and scooters. There are a number of short and long hikes you can do. Exploring Merida is best on foot. In the dry season you can walk on the lake shore for miles. The road that goes towards San Ramon runs along the lake and you can explore little lovely, different and quiet beaches all the way. Nature here is amazing! Walking around you can see howler monkeys, squirrels and many different species of birds and parrots. There are also an incredible amount of old, huge trees. Hiking volcano maderas you walk through sub-tropical forests and rain forests where vegetation is unique. Merida is one of the most beautiful parts of the island, people here still live on fishing and agriculture.
  • We were very fortunate to stumble upon Harry's property on AirBnB. We probably would have missed this lovely gem if left to our own devices. Wow. Three Warnings before coming: 1) The taxi is the only easy way to get there from the port (or if you pre-arrange a private pick-up). The bus may take you much longer than you'd like. 2) This is not a place where you are going for the active nightlife or to dress up for. This is much more rustic than any other part of Nicaragua that we had been to. 3) You will never want to leave :) The road intimidated us a little as we took the taxi. It was roughly 35$ U.S. to get there and was about 1.5 hours. The last 7 kilometers consists of dirt and LOTS of rocks. When we arrived, we were greated by Harry's wife (and the dogs/parrots came soon after). She showed us to our room on the beautiful property. It really felt like we were in a private jungle on our porch. Admittedly, we were at first nervous of being too secluded and rustic. However, we could not have been more wrong. We did a great hike up the Maderas Volcano to the waterfall (which takes 4.5-6.0 hours depending on speed). Then, we still even had time to Kayak! The next day, we went Horseback riding and it may have been our favorite part of Nicaragua. A smoothe, two hour trail took us to one of the most pretty views I have seen. the horses that we used (owned by Harry), Tequila and Pinto, were not only well taken care of, but also very easy for new riders to handle. It was a real treat. Then, we rented a motorcyle and got tour the outskirts of the island. Make sure you remember to bring the registration as the police may stop you to check. Overall it may feel far from the port but once you are there you will hate to leave! There are so many activities around (like Monkey island, the natural pool, or the waterfall) that it would be a shame not to add this to your trip! Thanks for showing us a great time Harry! P.S. Be sure to stop by Margarita's Bar, the best food I have ever tasted :)

  • We loved our stay at the Finca with Giovanni. It was the highlight of our trip to Nicaragua. The mamacita room was lovely! We enjoyed the hammocks and rocking chairs at night under the stars. The dogs are beyond adorable and super friendly!!Giovanni was very helpful in arranging our Maderas hike guide and providing much needed sandwiches for our trek. Also, the restaurant recommendations were spot on! Hari's horses was conveniently located on the Finca and provided a lovely tour of the area with the most beautiful horses. Would highly recommend staying here. Our only regret is staying 2 nights, we would love to stay for a week!

    Elizabeth2016-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and comfortable place. Animals were entertaining, especially the parrots. Horse ride was beautiful and some what challenging, even for an old cowboy.

    Susan2015-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our host accommodated us well when we arrived. They recommended where to eat as well as offering to give a small tour to the Volcano Maderas for a decent price. The tour was great; we went horseback riding for about two hours starting from the Finca and going to a nice plane where we could see both volcanoes. Overall a great place to stay. The only thing is that we came by car and we found that to get to the place it was a pretty rocky dirt road. After this rocky (but manageable) road, there was another road that was even worse, it was very rocky and only trucks can get through. We didn't know this and we started to take our car up but soon realized it wasn't the best idea. Other than that, the host has a great place and accommodated us well.

  • Amazing property. Breakfast was delicious. Hosts are super helpful in getting you to and from the property, setting you up with a scooter or moto, giving rec's for what to do etc. We loved our 2 hr. horse ride and also enjoyed the dogs on the property! Would highly recommend staying here!!

  • This accomodation was really special: a pretty remote ranch with a lot of nature around. The apartment was clean and equiped with all necessary equipment. Harri our host had a great tip for a restaurant nearby, were we had dinner for two nights and he organised us a very good Guide to climbed up the vulcano! They also served a very good breakfast.

This is an upstairs room in a beautifully located organic farm hostel and Restauran with amazing views of Maderas volcanoe. The room is wood and bamboo with a thatched roof. Listen to howler monkeys, watch humming birds, soak up the multitude of tropical flowers... 1 mn to the lake!
This is a room on an organic farm/hostel and Restaurant, with a shared outdooor shower and compost toilets. We offer home made, healthy and delicious food. We are situated in a beautiful, remote location, 1minute from the lake and 1km away from a small corner store with basic necesities. We grow some salads, herbs, fruit and vegetables which we serve at the restaurant...
We are 1km from the entrance to the san ramon waterfall and we are close to petroglyphs.

  • Finally some time to say a big thank you to Dan and his lovely son!! We spent three nights at Dans place and absolutely enjoyed the experience living with the nature. Our highlight definitely was the fantastic fresh and own grown food we got served for breakfast and dinner. The place is quite offside but it is absolutely worth it. All the best for our two hosts! Marie & Martina

  • Dan was a great host. Attentive, helpful and genuine. His farm is beautiful. The room has a view of Maderas volcano. The space is very comfortable while being open air. If you want to experience nature and eat great vegetarian food, stay with Dan.

    Corrie2016-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Finca la Magia is an unique place. If you are looking for a true (eco)farm experience, don't waste your days at places like El Zopilote, just stay here. But it really is very isolated. We didn't have any transportation of our own (bikes were free to use but it was too far) and so we got stuck. There are almost no busses, taxis are SO expensive ($35,- to Moyogalpa) and scooters are a no go on the unpaved roads of the finca's side of Ometepe. People are nice, dogs happy and the food amazing, but if you are a budget backpacker, we wouldn't recommand staying here, unless you want to use your days being on the farm. Overall we liked our stay but lost a lot of money on cabs and didn't get to do everything we wanted on Ometepe.

    Lara2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at finca La Magia, a really special place to stay. San ramon was very calm and a perfect place to get away from the tourists of Ometepe. We didn't meet Dan, but the volunteers and giancarlo were super helpful and friendly, and judging from the Finca, Dan seems great too! We would definitely recommend this Finca!

    Janek2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • My four days in the farm was really nice and peacefull :) i liked the crazy dogs, the wild nature and the amazing food ! The volunteers was always helpfull and relax. Good ambient. The room is clean and authentic, bamboo everywhere and the bed comfortable. Thank you a lot amigos :)

    Marie2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Finca La Magia for two days, but wish we could have stayed longer. Falling asleep under the stars, listening to the faint sound of howler monkeys, waking up with a perfect view of Volcan Maderas. Dan and his family were super accommodating. It's a little out of the way, but totally worth it. Highly recommend the smoothies.

  • Clean cabana, nice furnishings, right by the water. Would stay again!

    Thomas2018-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fernando's hostal, El Caballito del Mar, is definitely off the beaten path- it is a bit rocky to get there and fairly far off. The cabañas are pretty standard for the island, the bed was comfortable and we saw no bed bugs (can't say the same of other hostals based on other travelers legs). The water pressure is very low with no hot water, but that's pretty standard for the area. We opted for AC, which was definitely cold! Where this place stands out is the staff: we had a hike that was to start before the kitchen opened, but we talked to the ladies and not only did they ensure we had breakfast ready the next morning but they had lunch for our hike ready in a container. The meals available are simple but good- we enjoyed the traditional Nicaraguan breakfasts. They were also very accommodating of my boyfriend's diabetes and had him walk with them into the kitchen to show where they put his ice pack and insulin and ensure they were in the right place. Just FYI: everyone speaks Spanish here so this may not be the best place if you can't manage some basic phrases.

    Emily2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Fernandos place! The kayak tour, the location, local vibe, fresh mangos, amazing food, even private taxi. All made our stay on Ometepe wonderful.

  • Came without any espectations. booked for 3 nights. they became 5. amazing place direct at the lake with stunning sunsets. the kitchen is simple, but amazing. everything is done fresh. me meat and fish is local, and the pastas are fresh made in the minute. also i had a lot of fun with the locals. nice peops here, and for sure i will come back on my next nica trip...

    Marco2018-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cabana was great - comfortable bed, nice and cool with the A/C, and right on the water. Kayaking was a blast and there are no words to describe how delicious the food was!! It was such a pleasure to stay at Caballito del Mar!

    Sarah2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great place for relaxing and have a good moments with relatives or friends The place is far from the main attractions in island, once you there you can enjoy all amenities and great services provided by Fernando and collaborators, the breakfast is delicious. Consider rent a car or Moto to go there, it is not easy by bus The room is exceptional in from of the lake, everything was clean

    Luis2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • El Caballito del Mar was definitely off the beaten path, as in the road off from Santa Cruz is not paved. That being said, it was an adventure to get there by scooter and it was well worth it. (Reserve a car ferry reservation several days in advance if going on a Saturday). The location has gorgeous views of the sunset by the lake with Volcan Concepcion to the right. The lake is clean and so refreshing to swim in (or clean your clothes like the local do). The cabin was pretty clean, looks like the shower was renovated recently. Not strong water pressure and the water is warmer during some times of the day than others but never freezing. We opted not to use the AC and it was pretty hot (in March) without uncovering the mosquito net from the bed so the fan could circulate air. The restaurant there is really good and incredibly affordable. Everything we had was delicious, we never ate elsewhere. The staff is also extremely friendly from Fernando to the people working the kitchen and bar to the tour guides. Some only speak Spanish but there is usually someone there who speaks at least a little English. Very accommodating, for example someone came early to make us breakfast and packed lunches when we did an early morning hike. We also checked out the night before leaving because we left very early. We loved our stay and wished we could have been there longer.

  • We had an awesome time! My children loved the horses, dogs, cats and birds that live on this property. The staff is wonderful and really helpful and kind. People are always smiling and it seems like the owners are very respectful of their staff. The room was clean and beautiful and convenient. Marilena, Melka and Hari helped us with information about local restaurants and things to do. Since we do not speak Spanish, Hari arranged all of our taxis for us, and even had one to the port in Managua within 10 minutes after I called him on my phone. Arranging the taxis made a big difference for us because we were traveling with our 4 and 6 year-old children. Another feature that made traveling with young children really great was the fact that Melka made excellent, simple and healthy dinners which our kids devoured. Furthermore, when we asked to go horseback riding with the kids, Hari had the kids get on the horses to see if riding would be safe. He determined that our 6 year old would be fine and patiently gave her a short, free lesson so he could decide on an appropriate ride for her for the next day. However, Hari felt that our 4 year old was too small and would be unsafe. I feel like he could have not said anything and he could have had our son ride at our son's risk while making money, but he made the ethical decision instead. Hari took our son for a short 10-15 minute "ride" around the farm and our son did not feel left out at all. Overall, I would love to return one day.

  • We stayed at Finca Montania Segrada for 3 nights in May. I really can't begin to say how fantastic our experience was. I would definitely recommend the Papacito room because the balcony is exquisite. We spent a lot of time up there relaxing and taking in views of the volcano in the morning (before the sun hits that side of the house) and we could see the stars in the evening. We just pushed the beds together and it was no big deal. The grounds are stunning and the common space is inviting as well. Hari, Mirka, and Marilena were kind hosts and so were all the animals running around (dogs, cats, birds, etc). Breakfast was simple but generous. We enjoyed dinner at the FInca one evening as well and it was lovely. You can buy beers from Hari, but we brought Rum. I am sure you can buy it on the Island but by this point on our trip we were so obsessed with Flor de Cana we made sure to have our own supply. :) I highly recommend riding horses with Hari. It was one of the highlights of my time in Nica. His horses are very well kept and he is a great guide. We took in some amazing views on our ride and it was so peaceful to see the island on horseback. So here are the nuts and bolts of staying in Merida: 1. Be ready for the ride out there. It isn't particularly long or paticularly hard, but it is about 1/2 an hour on rocky roads. We had a great experience scheduling cabs with the Finca. We payed $30 each way from Moyogalpa. 2. There are about 5 places other than the Finca to get food. They take anywhere from 10-25 minutes to walk to. But be aware that you are walking up and down hills on rocky paths. Bring solid shoes and a headlamp. 3. The rooms are really nice and super clean, however that doesn't change the fact that you are in the middle of the jungle. There are bugs and birds and many other noises. Bring bugspray. Going to Merida is TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! Just be aware that getting back to the more populated part of the island (Santo Domingo for example) is not easy. It would take quite a while to walk and I think a cab is $20 each way. If what you want is to completely get away and immerse yourself in Nica , then the Finca is for you. It was an amazing and relaxing experience that we are so thrilled to have had Thank you thank you Hari, Mirka and Marilena!!

  • This was one of the highlights of our holiday! The way from Santa Domingo to the finca is really rocky and is quite a trip but the reward is there: the finca is a beautiful place, the rooms are wonderful, the owners (+ animals) are lovely and the Italian food they make is perfect. Staying at the finca was a different experience from the rest of our trip: being there with the beautiful view and atmosphere was relaxing and special at the same time for us. Thanks!

  • A very nice host, excellent communication, and a beautiful finca. They love horses here and a horse ride is highly recommended as well as staying in the finca. It's a really rural area and you can gallop for houres. We will return one day for much longer. Thank you for all.

    Dorota2014-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Loved everything about the island and the finca. Hosts were great, rooms were cozy and clean, breakfast was delicious. We took a horse ride (highly recommended) and we kayaked (it was cool, but not a lifetime experience). Felt very safe everywhere, the village is very interesting (and poor), but the locals are great, I wish more people knew how to feel happy when they have so little. If you plan to get there by car you do nead 4x4.

  • We had an amazing time at Finca Montania Sagrada! While everything in Ometepe is relatively off the beaten path, Merida is particularly quiet but with plenty to do. We stayed for two nights and three days. Hari arranged for a taxi to pick us up in Moyogalpa and take us to Ojo de Agua before arriving at his place to save time. From the moment I decided to book, he was very accommodating, thoughtful, and practical with all of his advice. Not only does he clearly know about the country, he also truly cares about the people, the environment, and the place. As soon as we arrived at the Finca, we went on a horse ride and it definitely has been a highlight of our trip so far. Our instructors were so patient and friendly, and once we were comfortable were off for an adventure! The rest of the time in Ometepewe spent on our own renting motorbikes and exploring the island, stopping in Balgue for lunch. Everything about Finca Montania Segrada from the activities available, to the food, to the homemade yogurt at breakfast is so well thought out. To be true, it's not a luxury stay, but if you're looking for a good balance of peace and quiet with the potential for a good Nica adventure, you won't be disappointed with the service and amenities here. Definitely hope to stay here again!

It is natural volcanic spring water full of minerals and incredibly good for your health. We provide complimentary filtered spring water for our guests.
Our property is located on the road to Totoco Ecolodge, about 700meters from the main road where buses run and restaurants are found. It is a rustic, and rocky dirt road. We are located a 7minute walk from the town of Balgue a growing tourist hub which offers some good restaurants and is home to the main hiking trails of Maderas Volcano, organic shade-grown coffee farms and pre-Columbian rock carvings (called petroglphys). It takes around 40mins to get to us by taxi from the port of Moyogalpa and 25mins from the port of San Jose del Sur. See the section 'Getting around' for details on how to get to us.
  • Perfecto.

  • We stayed here for 2 weeks and really enjoyed this place. Communication with Roslyn from the very beginning was good and both of them are lovely people. The view to the volcano is simply stunning and it was one of the best places we stayed in central america. One thing to remember is that place is really off grid, this wasn't a problem for us but might not suit everyone.

    Peter2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was incredible. Not only was it the most comfortable and spacious place we've stayed, the views were to die for! Rosalyn was a most gracious and informative hostess and the kitchen was fully stocked for our needs. Beware of the road up for novice motorcycle riders, it wasn't for the weak of heart. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends and family who visit and plan on returning myself!

    Julia2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • That was perfect ! Jonathan and Roslyn take care of us so nicely ! The place is well arranged with a lot of taste ! They were very helpful all along our stay !!! Don t hesitate anymore...

  • We absolutely LOVED staying at this property. The ambiance is romantic and leisurely and the amenities are modern and stylish. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The "mini-bar" is SO great and the items' prices are very reasonable. It was very convenient having that option so that you don't have to go outside when you fancy some nightcap. The breakfast is also reasonably priced and delicious! Definitely stay here if you are coming to Ometepe! Would love to come back.

    Jacob2018-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • 4 elements is euphoric. The views are unbeatable and the rooms are beautiful and sparkling clean. The staff is so kind and helpful, and Roslyn and Jonathan provide a wealth of information about the island, and respond to questions very quickly. Balgue is also a really great area! We wish we could have stayed even longer!

  • My stay here was fantastic! The waves from the lake lapping on the beach right outside your door will relax you to no end, and Guissell, Juan Carlos, and Linda were all wonderful! The room was perfect, the hospitality outstanding, and the location right on the lake unbeatable! One of my best Airbnb experiences yet. I can’t wait to come back one day!

    Nancy2018-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • I LOVED my stay at this property! I had a fairly unpleasant first couple of days in Nicaragua but I was able to get to Ometepe a full day early and was greeted with open arms. Linda and Juan Carlos answered each of my MANY questions and gave me a ton of helpful information prior to my trip and during my stay. Linda arranged for my transport getting me to and from the island which was wonderful. She even helped to arrange plans for me for New Years (extremely appreciated for a wandering solo backpacker!) Juan Carlos helped me get a scooter for a couple of my days on the island- highly recommended- so I was able to explore on my own. The property itself was right on the water, close to several great restaurants and very clean and cozy! It was easily my favorite part of Nicaragua. Hoping to make it back one day soon!

  • The pictures are accurate however not recommended for light sleepers ,even with ear plugs ,the waves and wind are very loud.Linda was excellent for communications ,however she does not live there and knowing some Spanish would be a huge asset to talk with (Website hidden by Airbnb) a good location to venture from.

  • Their rooms are all wonderful. The property is a treasure with breathtaking views. The family running the house is hospitable, very accommodating, and they will treat you like family. You can trust them to help you with anything. They are well connected to all the best activities on Ometepe Island so you do not need to make any reservations on your own prior to your visit. You will certainly enjoy your stay with Juan Carlos and his family. Guaranteed!

  • I absolutely loved my stay in Ometepe because of Juan Carlos and Guisell. They have a beautiful and comfortable lakefront property that is clean and exactly as described. They are kind and treated me like member of the family. Juan Carlos scheduled my day trips and even my transfers. He was also nice enough to drive me to the meeting point for a hiking trip. Also, the atm was not working for me, so he had one of the boys drive me to every atm until we found one that worked for me. I tried to give the boys tips, but Juan Carlos wouldn't allow it. He said he wanted me to feel like family. He is a very kind person. The restaurant next door was delicious. I enjoyed the rice and chicken. I fell in love with the puppy, Tooky. He was playful and loving. Overall, i had an amazing stay. I 100% recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel at home. Ometepe is a magical island. 3 nights was not enough. I will be sure to return in the future and stay at this AirBnb again. :)

  • Super accueil.

    Perrine2018-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was a very nice size for our family and the small kitchen corner made it possible for us to cook something ourselves. Otherwise, the apartment belongs to a restaurant, so you can just walk a few meters and then eat something delicious there! Unfortunately, we were there in the low season, so we had no beach on our doorstep, but the lake. In the main season but you have good 50m beach right in front of the porch. The host, Juan Carlos, was super nice and helped us with tips for the island and drank with us in the evening a nice Flor de Cana . The perfect place for a bit of peace and a great view of Ometepe!

    Laura2018-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • The appartment has everything you need, including a water-purifier and the hosts has a nice Comedor where you can get good food and drinks at all hours. They welcomed us with a bowl of fruits, and are very helpful. They arranged a nice kayak-tour and bicycles for us. They have an English speaking friend, Linda, who helped us with transfer to Isla Ometepe and on the island. There are plenty of other cafes nearby, but it is still a very quiet area where the birds, the waves and the wind is all you hear. We had a few showers and they rain made a lot of noise on the rooftop - bring earplugs if you sleep light. The internet was working most of the time and there was hot water in the shower. The appartment is right at the beach, and just after the rainy season the Water level in the Nicaragua lake is High, and you will have waves up to your patio, but we enjoyed swimming right from the patio. The sea was a little rough the first day, so be careful of stones fallen off the stone-setting on the bottom when you enter. When you are in it is nice sand on the bottom. There is a jungle trail 100 meters from the house where you will se parrots and lots of other birds, and it is an easy walk to Ojo d’agua, where we had a nice swim in the pools. You can short-cut the walk, by entering through a gate saying welcome in different languages and following a footpath along the river.

    Mette2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were received with awesome hospitality and friendliness by Juan Carlos and Guissell. Anything we needed or asked, they were quick to organise and sort out for us. The room was well equiped and had an amazing view from the verandah, also their restaurant next door was so convenient with great food at great prices. Thanks again J.C and Guissell.

    Walter2018-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Guissell and Juan Carlos's studio apartment is such a cool, unique space - only on airbnb, right? - and it is mere meters from the lake and beach! Coffee, fruit, and breakfast at their restaurant were perfect and delicious on our private beach bar facing the sunrise and volcano, and the waves and lake breezes lulled us into deep sleep each night. If you speak Spanish, Juan Carlos will be the best concierge you can imagine - he arranged island and mainland taxis for us, a kayak tour, and a 4X4 rental - all for below the going rate. And the location is perfect for exploring either side of the island, and catching both sunrise (from your bed or hammock, if you wish!) and sunset (a short walk to the other side of the isthmus). Ometepe is magical, and Juan Carlos and Guissell's airbnb is a magical little place to call home while you're there!

    Keegan2018-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Guissells place is the perfect accommodation on Ometepe! It’s right on the beach so you can swim and cool off whenever you like. The view from the studio over the lake and onto volcano Maderas is amazing! Great little kitchen for cooking meals which we loved. The family give really good tips and information about the island. They organise everything at a rate that is cheaper than everywhere else. Overall we loved it and recommend it to any couple or group heading to Ometepe.

    Abe2018-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Just a super-place! It was very clean and cosy. There is everything you need, even blender. Amazing views to the lake and volcano Maderas. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. There is very tasty food in their restaurant. Don't miss your chance to taste their fish.

  • Noldan's family is one of the most incredible groups of people I have ever spent time with. The operation they are running on their property is simply amazing -- between Rosa welcoming us into her kitchen to learn about traditional Nicaraguan cooking over the fire, getting to eat two home cooked meals a day, playing ball and talking with her extremely precocious and thoughtful children (including Noldan!), the sunsets over the lake, and the distance from anything that feels touristy or contrived, made for a life changing couple days. Noldan is a top notch host, and helped with everything we needed: bikes to get to the San Ramon waterfall, a reasonably priced shuttle back to the ferry terminal, and he also regularly checked in before and during our stay to see if there was anything he could help with. I HIGHLY recommend that you choose to spend several days with this amazing family on this amazing piece of land. I certainly cannot wait to go back, and wish that I was able to stay longer this time.

Cabina Beate is a just finished little bungalow with double bedroom, twin beds, private bathroom, ceiling fan, electric kettle and closet. Veranda with rocking chairs and hammock. All of our accommodation are placed far from each other in the middle of flower and fruit gardens. Breakfast is included in room price and dinner (Italian Pasta) is at request before 3pm. Our Finca organizes horse riding tours of the Island with Hari's Horses. We also organize guided hikes to the volcanos and kayak tours to the river Istian. We live with a variety of animals: horses (12), dogs of different kinds, cats and parrots which mingle and share our daily life. If you like to chill out in the middle of nature and animals our Finca is the place you're looking for. Also check our other listings : - Papacito room with fantastic view - , Mamacita room....... king size bed
  • We had a wonderful stay at the finca. The view from the porch was amazing and its the perfect place to relax but also do some really cool outdoor activities. We went on a 7 hour hike on the volcano madera, visited the waterfall and went on an really awesome horseback tour with hari and carlos. Even my boyfriend, who wasnt an experienced horse rider was able to galop and had a lot of fun (and some sore muscles afterwards ;-) ) The cabana was cozy and clean and we even had warm water! The people working on the finca were really friendly. We tried driving our suzuki swift up the hill which we had to give up at some point, so i would really recommend a 4x4 and truck. I liked having the dogs around, but it took my boyfriend some time getting used to, since he is quite afraid of dogs. The only downside about the place was the off season breakfast, which most of the time was just not enough and we were still hungry afterwards.

  • Marilena was very quick to respond to messages and helpful in organizing transportation. The cabin itself is nice with views of both volcanoes and a relaxing hammock on the porch. Breakfast is good. Hari was friendly. Loved all the dogs! The dinner is fine, but pricy compared to Margarita's down in the village. Water pressure was poor for part of the time I was there, which made it difficult to shower, but it worked after my volcano hike. I'm glad I went on the Maderas hike for the strenuous exercise though it was very rainy and muddy. Other than the volcano and the horses, there isn't that much to do, but if you want to lie on the hammock, ride the horses and climb Maderas, this would be a good choice.

  • We were a group of three that stayed at Finca Montania Sagrada, one in the Cabana Bates and two in the Mamacita. The property is absolutly beautiful and the hosts were very welcoming and served a great breakfast. There were views of the two volcanos and the lake, and beautiful greenery all around. The Driveway may seem a little hard to get up, but all the taxis were able to make it up just fine. We really enjoyed our stay!

  • I spent 3 nights in this beautiful finca with my boyfriend, and it was absolutely the highlight of our trip in Nicaragua. The rooms are beautiful and very clean, the breakfast is incredible, plenty to eat and drink

  • Wonderful experience in the most scenic of settings. Loved the horse riding, the hammocks and most of all the animals! The breakfast is fabulous too

  • Our time at the Finca Montania was wonderful. This was perhaps the most relaxing time in our journey though Nicaragua. So many beautiful plants and trees, and don't forget the views of BOTH volcanoes. Our hosts were great. Hari and Marilena were very helpful. Any questions we had about Ometepe, bus schedules, places to eat... anything really, they knew. Again, the atmosphere was very relaxing. Lots of little animals to entertain us. We particularly loved the kittens and parrots. I loved the Cabana Beate. It was our own little house. We sat on the porch and watched the sunset and just hung out in the hammocks. I highly recommend the Horseback Riding tour to the San Ramon Waterfalls. I had zero riding experience, and honestly was quite nervous. But Carlos, our guide, is an expert and made us feel safe. We had a great time. Also, I would recommend having dinner at the Finca at least once. We had pasta/spaghetti with mutton, salad, etc. Simple and delicious!

  • Very, very nice place! The volcanoe view is spectacular! The owners are very nice, open minded people! There are so many animals! Unfortunately i didn't bring enough time to go for a horse ride! But i wanna come back and do it next time! I highly recommend this place! Thank you!

  • We stayed at Montania Sagrada for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon. We could not have been more pleased with the whole experience. We stayed in cabana beate which was perfectly comfortable and cozy. We loved sitting on the front porch in the hammock and reading the afternoons away. We arranged to go for a guided hike of Merida volcano which took about 7 hours in total. It was strenuous but so enjoyable. The last hour or so of the hike to the top was through rainforest, which was so interesting to experience as we were climbing up and through roots of trees. Hari took us out one day for a full day of horseback riding to San Ramon waterfall, to a nice lunch then back to the Finca. This was definitely the highlight of the trip to isle of ometepe. Hari was helpful in getting me comfortable with the horse as I am not an experienced rider, and allowed my husband to take his horse out to its full capabilities as he is experienced. We trotted and cantered and Brennan even had his horse galloping. It was an absolutely incredible experience to be out on the open road with the horses cantering. Hari was a terrific guide. He's knowledgeable and obviously very caring about his horses. We had delicious breakfasts and dinners cooked at the Finca, and enjoyed our conversations with Giovanni, Merilena and Hari. I would highly recommend visiting Finca Montania Sagrada on your visit to Ometepe. We can't wait to return!

My place is close to Public transport, Lake Nicaragua, Maderas Volcano, Sn Ramon Waterfall, Sto Domingo beach. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and big groups. You’ll love my place because by your stay you will support free elementary bilingual education to local children! Also because you'll enjoy amazing sunsets and great healthy food. You'll have direct access to a private marina (dock) for swimming and excellent fishing. More activities are available!
I'm a 30 years old woman passionate about making a change in my community. Since 2012 along with my husband, we created a free of charge elementary bilingual school to provide a brighter future and better opportunities to local children and to the local population. The revenues we get from our rentals provide our school sustainability.
Merida, a rural village inhabited by warm and friendly people and surrounded by nature!

  • Esther’s place was our favourite part of our short trip in Nicaragua:) The place was beautiful and right on the lake. It is quite aways from the ‘main strip’ but if you want to relax to your hearts content, this place is for you. There is a restaurant attached and it was great with decent pricing. Try the coconut ice cream they make, AMAZING!! And what they are doing with their school is amazing! Loved this place so much. Thank you:)

  • The Hacienda Merida is both a hostel and children’s school so it has a social mission along with providing great accommodations for travelers. The rooms are amazing, the scenery is breathtaking, and the staff is very helpful. We hiked Maderas volcano and they helped set up guides for us which was totally necessary. The owner is happy to give tours of the school and tell you all you need to know about the area. Be warned though, he’s very much against scooters and motorcycles driven by tourists due to excessive accidents on the island. All in all it was a great visit with a friendly staff who were always willing to help.

    Sean2018-04-22T00:00:00Z

  • Beautiful, secluded location in Merida. Room was simple with a nice bathroom. We were on the second floor and enjoyed the view of the lake. You can purchase food and drinks at a fair price. Staff is great and can help with scheduling transportation and activities. They can provide safe and reasonable transportation from the ferry to Hacienda Merida. We took advantage of the on site kayaks and explored the swamp with an amazing on-site English speaking guide. Great sunset views from dock. Owners do not recommend motorbikes because the roads are VERY rough and many tourists have accidents, but me and my boyfriend (he's a very experienced motorist) did rent a quad which was AMAZING because we got to see the waterfall, the natural springs, and San Domingo beach, and explore the country side all in one day. Last but not least, the bilingual school is very awesome and all proceeds go to a great cause. You can learn more about the school when you visit - you will be very impressed by their sustainability, resourcefulness, and passion!

Over 2/3 of the 11.5 acre property is made up of tropical dry forest where you will have the opportunity to see some amazing critters including howler monkeys, rabbits, frogs and many species of birds and butterflies. We have 3 individually decorated private guest bungalows and 1 loft room. They are all comfortable, clean and boast amazing sunset views of Volcano Conception. This private bungalow is a beautiful hexagon with a hand woven thatch roof and cob style walls to keep you nice and cool year round. It measures about 350 square feet, including the porch and has a amazing view of volcano Conception.. It is not uncommon to see and hear monkeys on this stretch of land daily. The cabin is located on the hillside with cool breezes and a large private garden space. This cabin has a double bed with an orthopedic mattresses, mosquito netting, drinking water, private bathroom, hot water shower, and shampoo. It really has everything you need to be comfortable in the jungle, including 2 hammocks with amazing views where you can lounge around and read a book. We are located just after the split in Santa Cruz, the nicest place in Ometepe Island because of it natural beauty and access to the best restaurants and many things to do (natural beauty / outdoorsy stuff!). This is a growing tourist hub for the island and has the best beach on the island, hiking trails, small restaurants, yoga, motorbike rentals and kite-boarding school. The hippy side of the island where the vibe is super chilled out! Its a great place to be if you like nature, relaxing and want to chill out and see something completely different. People here tend to be very eco conscious, and so you have lots of little mom and pop places where people have set up little eateries, are making stuff like chocolate and kombucha tea...doing yoga in the jungle. This is nowhere near city life! So if you only feel comfortable in cities you'll be bored here. But if a day at the beach, hiking or kicking back and seeing the birds, cloud formations and discovering new insects, birds, etc sounds cool - then you'll be happy. Maderas Volcano begins from our back yard and we have guide friends that can you can hire to take you up to the lagoona or to see the vista from up above.......really magnificent! There are a million stars in the sky, funky cloud formations over the volcano and some super cool wildlife around our place and in the area. At different times of the year there is a vista of wild orchids on the property. The UNESCO biosphere seeks to preserve part of the natural habitat and within the reserva you can see a mulitude of critters....from monkeys to guatusa's! We usually see the monkeys at our place daily:-) Located: -10 min walk from the beach -10 mins walk to kiteboarding school -5 mins walk to the grocery store -10 mins walk from 15 good restaurants -Next door to bike and motorbike rentals -On the trail going to Volcano Madaras
  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the yellow cabin for 3 nights. Sherri and her husband were wonderful hosts! The cabin was very clean, cozy, and relaxing. The farm is very charming and quiet with incredible veiws of the near by volcano. There are people that come through and clean each day helping to keep your space nice through out your stay. Great resturaunts within walking distance and quick bike ride to local attractions. The bed was very comfortable with a fan over our heads to keep us cool at night. We did have insect and lizard friends join us in the cabin, but completely harmless and kept out of the bed because of the masquito net. Over all our experience at Finca Del Sol was quite wonderful and I highly recommend staying there during your time on Ometepe!

  • Be a Traveller , not just a tourist This small house should be booked solid with travellers looking to experience a small taste of Nicaragua. It has everything you need, ceiling fan for humid nights, comfortable bed, great shower, clean drinking water, and a front covered porch to sit in the evenings and enjoy the breeze. The beach, in all directions, is all yours, except for the cattle and horses that occasionally come down to drink the lake water. The best part is talking to the gracious and accommodating hosts who do more than expected in making sure that you have everything you need. Their patience with our bad Spanish was endless, and we appreciated all the information that was sent before we arrived! It was a delight getting to know them and we so appreciated all that they shared with us. Other reviews have pointed out the closeness of the road, barking dogs, roosters etc...earplugs are necessary in every traveller’s kitbag! Lots of places within walking distance to eat lunch and dinner. Xalli restaurant just steps away makes an excellent Red Snapper dinner . Order breakfast from Manuela in the mornings....The fruit bowl and local honey breakfast was delicious and way more than we could eat.

  • Manuela and Walter’s place was very peaceful and in a great location. Their property backs onto SAN Fernando beach and provides some nice secluded beach time. It’s also very easy to walk to Santa Domingo for dinner (15-20 min walk). The double bed was very comfortable, place was clean and ceiling fan was great! Manuela also arranged for our scooter rental to arrive at our place first thing one morning, which was very convenient.

    Mary2018-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Hector was a great host, very helpful, informative and caring. When my friend got sick he even cooked her some tea with herbs from the garden and provided us with free coconuts, freshly opened with his machete in front of us! Great local experience which is hard to find at any hotel! Definitely recommend staying here!

    David2018-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Hector is a hospitable host and his place is a decent and spacious room, equipped with all necessities. We were welcomed with a tasteful bowl of fruit and a friendly smile.

    Roy2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Isabel and Hector have been incredible hosts. Since our arrival they have been very helpful at guiding us to the must do's of the island like places to visit, food, laundry and transportation. Because they are both locals to this area they have given us the best tour into their mountain property and shared with us daily all the fresh produce they harvest from there. The house is well kept, very clean, has all the basic necessities and extras. I cook a lot and this kitchen is well equipped. The garden in the house has a variety of herbal plants and greens to use for fresh tea and salads. The location of this property is central, two steps from the beach, walking distance from restaurants, stores and permaculture farms. There are many bike and scooter rentals in this block but Isabel and Hector can also help you with that. Overall our stay here has been very comfortable and pleasant.

    Sisa2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about Hector and Isabel and their place. The room had everything my friend and I needed, with clean shower, fridge, electric kettle, two beds, wifi, hammock, and adorable garden. The beach is a stones throw away, restaurants of Santa Cruz are a 10 min walk, and Balgue ~30 min walk (recommend eating at El Bamboo!) Close to Ojo de Agua, kayaking from Mérida, and great views of the volcanoes everywhere you turn. There is a second guest room which is connected to this room with little screened windows close to the ceiling so not 100% private - if you are looking for a hotel, this might not be for you. Hector & Isabel welcomed my friend and I as though we were family, waiting for us on our day of arrival with fresh fruit and information about local sights. When we requested help with this or information about that, they jumped at our requests (taxis, bus times, sights to see, where to watch the sunset, a tour of their garden, fresh herbal tea, bags of their coffee for purchase, and on and on). Hector replied quickly whenever I communicated via Airbnb and most of the time were available at the house to help. Isabel treated us with a local dish for a snack and we paid for her to prepare a typical breakfast (she made us a feast!) before a day of hiking - her cooking is fantastic! She was ready to have us for a cooking lesson when I suggested this, but there wasn't time before we left. Communication was more fluid in Spanish, which I speak, but another couple staying there didn't speak any Spanish and were able to get by communicating in English. They are such thoughtful hosts, I highly recommend staying with them to explore & enjoy beautiful Ometepe!!!

  • Great location in a very cute first floor studio. The building is immediately across the road to the beach. It takes 30 seconds to walk there. We were up fairly early in the morning so road traffic noise wasn't an issue for us, but if you like to sleep in late the traffic may be an problem. Hector was more than happy to accommodate us in any way we asked. One problem we had was going without running water every morning for an hour or so. Once Hector arrives the water comes back on. If you sleep in late this may not be an issue. Kitchen was well equipped. Wonderful breeze from the lake all the time to keep cool. Tip: an amazing pizza joint a little over 1 kilometer of this Airbnb. Turn right and walk South. At the top of the hill stay to your left going towards Balgue. The restaurant will be on your left about 15 min walk from the corner. Overall this was a great place to stay and would stay again.

  • Hector and Isabels place is fantastic! Hector is a very lovely and generous man. Upon arrival he made sure we had everything we needed and also gave us a massive plate of fruit. The kitchen was well equipped. There were tables and hammocks to chill on as well. He also organised our guide to hike up the volcano. Our guide was fantastic did a really great job. When we got back Hector greeted us with smoothies! The location is opposite the beach and close to restaurants and shops. The area is quiet but there are more lively areas up the hill from Hectors. Overall we had a fantastic stay and we would highly recommend these apartments!

    Sonya2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Hector and Isabelle were amazing! They were welcoming, kind and helpful! They helped arrange tours and hikes as well as offered delicious meals. They made me feel like I was a part of the family. • Our stay at La Urraca Loca was excellent. Denis and Patricia are great hosts, who offer a lot of information about places to visit, transportation, tours, and an insight about the life on the island. The hostel is incredibly nice and they have little details that make you feel ar home. When on Ometepe this is a highly recommended, place to stay.

  • Denis and Patricia are absolutely wonderful hosts. Their cozy hostel is well cared for and with the help of their local staff, the hostel is VERY clean. The location is within a short, safe walk of a variety of good restaurants, bars and little stores. The village of Balgue on the shores of Lake Nicaragua is full of friendly people, happy to say "Buenos Dias!" We highly recommended Urraca Loca.

  • La Urraca Loca is a cool little hostel located off the main road in Balgue on the Maderas side of the island. Patricia and Dennis are welcoming and extremely helpful when it comes to booking tours and arranging transpo. I highly recommend the petroglyph/Finca Magdalena/jungle tour with Elistar (sp?) that Urraca Loca provides. The place itself is set in a residential area off the main road, however, it still feels secluded. The neighbors all have farm animals to watch while you're having breakfast. Get the breakfast- the homemade papaya jam is the JAM! My room was clean and furnished with a netted bed, side table and fan. On my last morning, four parrots stopped by the palm outside my window to bid me farewell. Great place! I'd definitely return! Besos! xo

  • This is a good spot in Balgue. Walking distance to restaurants. Good vibe and great hosts.

  • Patricia and Denis are wonderful people and we really enjoyed staying at their little hostel. From the start we felt very welcome and by the end we felt so sad to leave. They are helpful with all sorts of things such as public transport, facts about the island, places to eat etc. The private room has an amazing view of the vulcano Madera and it's very clean! The last day we got to make our own pizza together with all the others staying at the hostel, such a great evening. We would definitely stay here again!

    Mette2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Denis is an amazing person and host. He is truly a genuine guy and I enjoyed meeting him. This hostel he has built has so much unique character and the garden is fantastic. Location is perfect. It would have been nice to have access to a guest fridge however it is listed on the site that there is no kitchen service so my fault for not checking before hand. Overall a fantastic experience.

Family friendly. You can enjoy the nature in comfort! our place is set in the tropical dry forest on the flanks of Volcano Madaras, close to beach, restaurants and hiking. Enjoy the wandering paths, monkeys, birds & butterflies. This private guest bungalow has a queen + bunk bed, hot water, mosquito netting, seating, screened windows, purified water, huge porch and garden. Lay in a hammock and see the stars! Free WIFI in common area. Eco friendly with solar power and dry composting toilets.
Finca del Sol is a small family run Eco-lodge on the flanks of Volcano Madaras within walking distance to the beach, restaurants and hiking trails. This private cabin was the last place we built - a beautiful hexagon with a hand woven thatch roof and cob style walls to keep you nice and cool year round. It measures about 800 square feet, including the porch and has some of the best sunset views on the property of the volcano and lake. It is not uncommon to see and hear monkeys on this stretch of land daily. The cabin is located on the hillside with cool breezes and a large private garden space. This cabin has a queen + bunk bed with an orthopedic mattresses, mosquito netting, drinking water, private bathroom, hot water shower, and shampoo. It really has everything you need to be comfortable in the jungle, including 2 hammocks with amazing views where you can lounge around and read a book. The housekeeper will come in daily housekeeping to ensure you are looked after, and if you have any questions there is always someone on site to help out. Our cleaning fee includes: bathroom cleaned daily and bed made. Full cleaning on departure. If you need new sheets or towels just ask and we are happy to help out if possible. Are you planning a group trip? We have another 2 cabins + a room available for groups up to 12 people.
We usually see the monkeys at our place daily:-) Located: -10 min walk from the beach -10 mins walk to kiteboarding school -5 mins walk to the grocery store -10 mins walk from 15 good restaurants -Next door to bike and motorbike rentals -On the trail going to Volcano Madara
  • Very nice owners. Very nice location. Very nice views! Overall a great spot to spend a few days on the island. Sheri was a great host and always responded and helped with and questions very quickly.

  • Located on the eastern shore of the beautiful Ometepe, Finca del Sol is a wonderful and peaceful retreat in one of the most serene and relaxing setting I have been to in my travels. The private, one room cabin was great for a couple or a family. They have comfortable beds and seating inside. However, the real beauty is sitting under the covered area outside that circles the cabin in the beach chairs or hammocks while watching the sunrise or sunset with the cloud capped peak of Volcan Conception in the near distance and Volcan Maderas over your shoulder. Sherri and Marco are wonderful hosts, warm and helpful in getting you set up with different experiences on the island (we went kayaking through the islet in the middle and saw a howler monkey family group). They also offer a good breakfast to get you started and WiFi to use in the main seating area. They have lived in the farm for years and have extensive knowledge of the entire area. Very tasty restaurants and a sparsely populated beach nearby round out this wonderful experience. We really enjoyed the time we spent here and recommend it highly to any travellers to Ometepe. It's a stay that you will always remember.

  • The Bamboo Lodge was spacious and comfortably furnished for my family of four. The views and the natural surroundings were beautiful! My boys (aged 7 & 9) had an incredible time on Isla Ometepe. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach as well as the walk along the beach to town. Sherri was very helpful in arranging transportation and island activities for my family. She was also very helpful with local knowledge about where to eat and what activities we would enjoy. I highly recommend Finca del Sol and Isla Ometepe for a Nicaraguan adventure!

    Kelli2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • At first I wondered what I signed up for - however once we got the lay of the land and I settled into the pace of Ometepe, I thought it was lovely. The hammocks and breeze and view were serene. Certainly hot but so was everywhere. The beach, shops and restaurants were within walking. Did a nice breakfast for $6 to avoid the hassle factor of finding eats with family in tow. A very unique experience and Christiano was beyond helpful in organizing our excursions and giving an insider view of island life. Try it!!

  • Thank you Sheri and your husband for the wonderful stay we had at your place. We were absolute stunned about the magical place you have, the view, the goats, the garden - everything was so charming and calming. Just what we needed! We felt very well informed about how everything works around your place and the island, which was very helpful. Your breakfast was a pleasure to wake up to every morning. We would recommend this place to all who is going to Ometepe. All the best wishes from Andrea, David and Nakima.

    Andrea2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just gorgeous! The view from the bungalow is stunning. Also the garden is so beautiful as is the bungalow itself. Very clean, comfortable beds with a very convenient mosquito net and a very spacious room. We loved it! We had breakfast at the Airbnb as well one morning and that was delicious with fresh herbs, fruits and veggies from the garden. Definitely would recommend staying here!

    Annemarie2017-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a terrific stay at the Finca Del Sol - bamboo lodge. The Finca was quiet and serene, but close enough to the Santa Cruz town (5-10 minute walk) to try out some great restaurants and mix up relaxation with some amazing grub! The sunset views and the grounds at the Finca were spectacular. I would highly recommend the bamboo lodge.

Relax in comfort! Sunset Views! Set in the tropical forest on the flanks of Volcano Madaras, steps away from the Santa Cruz village. Loft room with in room WIFI, queen bed, mosquito netting, seating, screened windows, and purified water. Watch the birds sail through the treetops inside the loft! Off the beaten path (but not too far:-) Free WIFI in common area. Close to restaurants, grocery, hiking trails, beach. Eco:with solar power and dry composting toilets. Perfect for a couple.
The entire property is a lush tropical forest, abundant with plant and animal life. Guests may often encounter small, shy jungle animals around the property, including birds, butterflies, bees, monkeys, frogs, toads, spiders, and small bats. This was the first place we built, and you can really feel the creative energy! It is a beautiful hexagon with a hand woven thatch roof and cob style walls to keep you nice and cool year round. The loft room measures about 400 square feet and has some of the best views on the property of the volcano and forest. This private room has in room Wifi, a queen bed with an orthopedic mattresses, mosquito netting, drinking water, shampoo and a share bathroom in an adjacent building about 10 steps away from the loft room. It really has what you need to be comfortable in the jungle, including 2 inside hammocks (one under a high speed ceiling fan) where you can lounge around and read a book. The room is located over a laundry / storage area so access is through the bottom floor and up the central staircase. Our staff has access to the bottom floor during the day to do the laundry, although they will respect your privacy to the utmost. Cleaning fee includes: bathroom cleaned daily and bed made. • We stayed at the orchid loft and we totally enjoy everything about the place. The view of the Conception volcano right on the rocking chair (and even from the bed) is absolutely spectacular. The Finca is in the wild but close to town also where you can get some good restaurant. The pace in Ometepe is slow and you can really enjoy the wild life. In the morning you can hear the howler monkeys and birds. I can tell you it is something special. Keep in mind it’s a screen palapas in the forest, so yeah you can have some spiders and little critters. But it is still very clean and if couple of nights in a really nice Finca on a volcano island surround by wild life and Forrest, Finca del Sol is the place in Ometepe.

  • Daniel and his mother were awesome :) They are a wonderfull family always there to help ! Daniel speaks english so the communication was easy but Theresa (his mother) speaks sphanish but we tried to understand both of us :) They make me feel like home ! Daniel take me everywhere I need when he can, it's was easy because he had 2 days off. Even there was no electricity for 3 days, it was perfects days being there, I appreciated :) thanks again !!!

  • This airbnb is wonderful experience. We stayed 14 days. Daniel and his family are great people. They are all so helpful and hospitable. We felt like at home (or more like on the grandma cottage. Peaceful house in the middle of nature with chickens, hammocks, three Chihuahuas and one pit bull and plantain plantage around). Teresa made me natural medicines when I felt sick. She cook delicious dinners and breakfasts. Must try the plantain lasagne . She is great Spanish teacher because she is nicely communicative and she do her best to keep the house perfectly clean. Daniel took us for a trip to jungle to see pertoglyphs and he showed us perfect sunset spot with vulcano view. There is no shop close to the house, but he always brought us any food we wanted from the city. Kitchen is fully equipped, Teresa is a passionate cooker and she shared with us all equipments, herbs garden (try moringa tea) and also her cooking knowledge. We left knowing how to make homemade tortillas and patacones. Very unique and authentic lovely airbnb, absolutely recommended. PS: if you have time go kayaking to Río Istián it's breathtaking experience Tomas & Anna

  • If you are planning a trip to Ometepe, Papaki House is the place to stay. Daniel is a wonderful host who can give you the best advice on exploring the island. And trying Teresas food is a must. It was by far the best food I had within my eight weeks in Nicaragua. Not to forget the room was spacious and very clean.

  • Our hut was covered in gecko feces, spiders/their webs and dead bugs- the dishes we were to use, the countertops and the table. The 'private bathroom' consists of a three walled structure that has an open ended pipe attached to a wooden board as a 'shower'. Our outdoor lights were burnt out creating some definite safety issues. The host offers wifi, but read closely as its only in a common area and you are advised against any form of downloading/streaming. We were provided with one sheet and two pillow cases with instructions to make our own bed. The bug net had more bugs inside the net than outside and required a serious clean to be even half effective. Needless to say we spent one night here where we remained fully clothed, didn't sleep and immediately checked out the next morning. We stayed one of four nights with no refund... check out this hostel's reviews on TripAdvisor!

    Marc2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The stay definitely exceeded my expectations and it's an incredibly charming place that I will be recommending. The rooms are amazing, the grounds are well maintained and the food is excellent. The only issues I encountered were a problem with organization. I booked the room, then received an email saying it wasn't available but that there was a cheaper option. The last night we stayed, we were told there were no sheets left so we slept on sheetless beds. When I tried to checkout and explain that I paid for a more expensive room and got a cheaper one, I was told I owed more. It was more than a little frustrating.

    Jinju2016-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • El Zopilote was very unique, with a nice natural setting. Food in the restaurant was good, although service can be quite slow. I loved that they had free yoga classes everyday. Staying in the Casa grande was nice- it is quite spacious and comfortable, however it is a further walk. Overall, I definitely enjoyed my stay at El Zopilote, and I will (and already have) recommend it to others.

  • Rosa's Lake Cabins are a wonderful place to stay. We loved it from the moment we arrived, when the sun was setting right in front of the place, over the lake. The whole family are incredibly helpful and friendly. We stayed for over a month and they came in to clean the cabana regularly. They were always around for a chat or to give a recommendation about something to do in the area. The best thing for us was the peace and quiet, and to see so many animals running around.

    Lucy2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice place, even more beautiful than in pics! Noldan and his family are amazing. We really enjoyed our time there. Felt like home, definitely going back at some point. Great atmosphere and balance with the nature and animals. Smooth lake is there waiting for you to jump in just few steps away from your terrace . Paradise. Wifi isn’t that strong, but who needs it when you have everything else? Thank you <3

• Following a rustic road in we arrived at the ometepe paradise we had heard about. Set on the side of a hill with amazing views of the lake and towering volcanoes, this accommodation was one of the best finds in Nicaragua. Secluded in a productive forest with so many animals we even got a tour around showing us all the different types of edible plants in the area! I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes a perfect combination of comfort, island life and nature! Thanks for the memories!

  • This place is incredible. Luxurious but still “magically” feels so remote and natural (thanks to awesome staff and management!). Delicious breakfasts, comfy beds, great views, and hammocks in the shade. Definitely go on the property/farm tour!

  • We rented two of the tree houses here and had a great time. Read my other review of the property for more info.

  • Thanks for providing us with such a fantastic stay! We arrived late (although this was not recommended) and someone walked from the treehouse location to come and meet us down the road. Great initial tour of the property, and the tree house was luxurious and perfect. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast and went on a tour with Megan which was informative and interesting. Volcán Concepción views from the upper treehouse were incredible.

  • The views from the Jackfruit house are simply breathtaking. Keep in mind that you are essentially in the jungle in Nicaragua and there is an abundance of wildlife (spiders). Megan is a wonderful host and extremely helpful. The included breakfast was delicious, we wished we could’ve had all of our meals prepared by the sweet little chef because ordering options are limited and no where near as tasty.
