  • Alexis made me feel very welcome. The space was as described, and as pictured - beautiful and unique! So nice to be in a space that was organically created with love and attention. Some lovely local staple foods in the fridge, and a loaf of fresh delicious banana bread on the kitchen counter. I loved the woodstove, and possibly the best part for me was the nearby pond with frogs serenading me to sleep every night. So great all around!

  • This cottage was exactly what we had hoped it would be. Cozy, warm and relaxing. We got to get out and hike around town everyday and thanks to the WiFi got to come home and sit by the fire to watch movies. The bed was crazy comfy and we had everything g we needed. Clean towels, warm shower, kitchen to make food, fresh water and we even got farm fresh eggs, milk and bread. Thanks Alexis and Manny for everything. Especially the early morning lift to the ferry today! Well be back for sure. Nina and Anthony.

  • This place was amazing. Alexis greeted me when I arrived, and she was so kind. We chatted about the origins of the cottage (great education for me!). The place was wonderful. Everything advertised and more. It is a lovely walk to the stores for some grub or anything you might need. You are so close to different shoreline access points. The sheep that the owners have roam the yards and were so fun to chat with and watch. The cottage is extremely comfortable. I enjoyed my tea, a fire, and the solitude immensely. I would and have recommended this place to anyone else. It was great to find a place at a wonderful location that was easy to navigate, feels off the grid, without being tons of work to the guest. The layout of the place is so fun, and the spaces to sit and read or write in the cottage are ideal. The delicious bread that was awaiting my arrival was a great treat, and the island was a wonderful, wonderful place to escape. Such a quiet but kind community. I honestly enjoyed my 5 day stay so much, and I was very sorry to have to leave.

  • The Cob is as lovely as everyone says! Gorgeously decorated with a cozy stove, and thoughtful extras like fresh milk, eggs, and incredibly delicious home-baked banana bread. We loved our time there. Manny and Alexis were a pleasure to correspond with, and were even kind enough to pick us up/drop us off at the ferry.

    Michelle2014-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Alexis and Manny were wonderful hosts. We felt right at home in the cob cottage and even though it rained most of our stay we got to be cozy and sit by the fire inside. The cottage is beautifully constructed and feels like you are living inside a sculpture (which it is). We had a nice walk to the grocery store and came back and cooked dinner. The cottage is stocked with everything you need to cook with and plenty of books to dive into. Hanging out with the sheep was also a highlight. All in all, we hope to be back!

    Shelby2015-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is charming and one-of-a-kind. Alexis was kind and helpful, and left you to yourself after greeting.

    Matthew2016-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Cobb Cottage was absolutely wonderful. Alexis and Manny have created a little piece of paradise, every corner of the cottage has been artistically and lovingly planned. You will find all the amenities you need, and her famous banana bread and granola is delicious. I loved the fresh milk and eggs from her chickens as well. We enjoyed making fires and had fun making pizza in the outdoor oven. We were very lucky, and got to visit with the new baby lamb that had just been born the morning of our arrival. Our favourite outings were the lighthouse park and the hike to the peak. You can't go wrong if you are looking for a peaceful and magical getaway. We will definitely be back!

    Sophia2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved this place and Alexis was was really accommodating for our needs including having a futon made and some books ready for our 6yr old son. The cob cottage is exactly as pictured and did not disappoint at all. The whole experience was really worth it and I would highly recommend it.

  • We had a great stay. We had the chance of cooking veggies from Laura's garden and enjoying their great apple juice. We even got lucky enough that the fire ban was lifted and could enjoy the fire pit. Thanks for the relaxing stay!

    Myriam2016-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We were treated like family! What an amazing hard working couple. Laura and Lance have built a second home on the large property with multiple projects on the go. They make sure you have what you need but give you your space. Knees and hips need to be working if you rent this space in order to maneuver the ladder up to the bedroom/loft. Everything you need in this adorable cottage. They were very knowledgeable of Mayne Island and very amusing storytellers! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Raven's Ridge, and will be back again!

    Patti2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Would absolutely stay at this very special place again. Laura and her son Jordan were so helpful and accommodating. The cottage is peaceful, beautiful, and perfectly appointed. And, what a brilliant location. We enjoyed looking around the orchard and gardens, and I especially enjoyed hanging out with Inky the dog. Other reviewers here have described the place accurately, so I'll just say: you won't be disappointed! Thank you Laura and Jordan! We will be back!

    Samantha2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was amazing! My fiancé and I went for my birthday last week and it was such a fantastic stay. The cottage is lovely, not to mention the property it lies on. Lance and Laura were more then welcoming and seemed very happy to show off the beautiful island they live on. We'll definitely be going back!

  • A perfect little spot to get away from it all! This is a beautifully constructed cabin nestled in a quiet area, perfect for unwinding. Laura was great at keeping in touch and checking in, super friendly! Cabin was clean, well-kept, and is obviously well-loved. Would love to come back in the summer to explore more, but it was a great cosy winter weekend.

    Jessica2016-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet, lovely property with a friendly helpful host, Jordy. We stayed here with our two adult daughters for three nights. Sleeping was a bit cozy for four adults but would be perfect for a family with kids. Especially enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the birds at the feeders. Would love to come back.

    Susan2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place for a weekend trip! I was late for the check-in but Laura was very accommodating and had a bonfire waiting for us when we arrived. The cabin was clean and in a great location that is only a 5 minute walk to the water. If you are thinking of staying on Mayne Island I would definitely recommend staying here.

    Terran2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Laura and Lance were very friendly and had lots of suggestions on what to do around the island. Communication was very fast. The cottage was comfortable, cozy and clean. The property was beautiful and well kept. We saw deer on the property!! The location is very central as everything is within a 10 minute drive. We stayed off season so we didn't use the kayaks or bicycles but they were available. Because we stayed off season Laura let us check out later so we didn't have to sit at the ferry terminal for hours. It was a lovely getaway location, very relaxing.

Relish the peace from the patio overlooking the beach where you can enjoy preparing your meals on the BBQ, hanging out on the hammock or watching the sun set from Adirondacks. The boat launch, wharf and buoy provide for boaters of every kind from kayakers to motor boats. There is oodles of hiking and opportunity for cycling as well as plenty of events and festivals to be enjoyed, all year round. Fern Hill Trail is our own 1.5 km trail that you are welcome to explore. Mayne Island is one of BC's beautiful Southern Gulf Islands. From the Vancouver lower Mainland ferry terminal it is a 65 minute direct ferry trip and from Victoria it is 50 minutes. The ferry travels through some of the most gorgeous marine views Canada has to offer. Truly a West Coast experience! You can reach us by float plane from either destination in 20 minutes. Although the cottage is tucked away from all signs of traffic, there are grocery stores, a bakery, pub, gift stores and the Summer Farmer's Market all conveniently within 2 km. Beaches Although many believe Seal Beach is the best beach on Mayne (with almost exclusive access to 1800' of sandy waterfront), there are other beaches you may want to explore. Bennett Bay Beach, Campbell Bay, Dinner Bay, and Piggott Bay Beach are popular spots and tend to have the warmest water. Most beaches are dog-friendly but please remember to pick up after your pets. Japanese Gardens Our magnificent Japanese Gardens at Dinner Bay Park on former Japanese-owned land, honours pre World War II residents and their tremendous contribution to island life. If you happen to be visiting during the Christmas season it is beautifully lit with thousands of lights. Admission is by donation. There is a playground and lovely beach adjacent to the gardens. Hiking There are many wonderful hiking trails on Mayne Island often with amazing vistas. The cottage provides the Hiking Trail brochure. In addition, we have our own 1.5 km beautiful trail through the forest and along the waterfront Farmer’s Market The Mayne Island Farmers' Market is the place to get great local produce, fantastic food and works of arts and crafts. The Market has also become the central meeting place for residents and visitors to enjoy a leisurely Saturday, engaging in great conversation and from time to time listening to a variety of live musicians. It is located by the Agricultural Hall in Miners Bay. The Farmer’s Market operates every Saturday from the May long weekend through to Thanksgiving weekend Hours: 10 am to 1 pm Shopping Miner's Bay is where you will find the main village and shopping area. It includes 2 grocery stores, a restaurant, gift stores, the post office, and a bakery. It is 1 km from the cottage and can be seen from our beach. Fernhill is another charming retail centre on the island. It offers a coffee shop, artisan gift store and upscale Farm Gate store where every day you will find freshly baked and delicious bread, muffins and soups in addition to a good selection of other offerings. Tennis Courts The tennis courts are located on Felix Jack Road next to the Mayne Island Community Centre. They are unlocked and open 8:00am to 10:00 pm April to October. In the off-season the courts are available but you need to secure the key. Kayaking and Boat Tours Opportunities for scenic tours or renting kayaks are readily available on Mayne Island.
  • Lois was very easy to work with. She answered questions and replied to emails quickly, kindly and with clarity. The cottage is lovely, simple, comfortable and cozy, and the location is very peaceful and beautiful and we enjoyed the nearby hikes and restaurants.

  • Seal Beach Cottage was perfect for a weekend retreat from Vancouver. The cottage is very easily bikeable/walkable from the ferry terminal, and close to restaurants, groceries and the charming Saturday Farmer's Market! We enjoyed biking all around the island and hiking up Mt. Parke. The cottage itself was very comfortable for two couples, with a well-stocked kitchen and good DVD collection for rainy evenings. Beds were comfortable, and everything was very clean. Highlight moment: early mornings with fresh cups of coffee, sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the patio while watching seals on the beach.

    Rebecca2015-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place! Peaceful and scenic. And no kidding about the seals! There are a *lot* of seals, all of them having a lot of fun, it looked like.

    Greg2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lois was an excellent host and went above and beyond to ensure we had what we needed for our visit to Seal Beach Cottage. The location is picturesque and the rest of Mayne island is great. We would highly recommend Seal Cottage. Our only complaint was that we weren't there longer!

  • This was an excellent spot to bring small children, as it was away from busy roads, had a nice grassy area and beautiful beach that the kids loved exploring, along with the trails. Double bed mattress was a bit on the squeaky side, but linens were clean, and the kitchen had lots of dishes and cutlery. We very much enjoyed our stay

    Farah2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage surrounded by lots of nature! The place was just as described: two comfortable bedrooms, a very well equipped kitchen to cook meals, a TV to watch movies on a rainy evening and a nice fire place in the living/dining room to make it super cozy on a cold day/night! The BIG bonus: a very private beach and forest! AND it was only a 15 minute walk to town. Highly recommend it for a relaxing weekend retreat. My family and I wanted to stay longer and next time we will. Thank you Lois! We fell in love with your place.

    Ines2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely idyllic spot. We loved sitting on the rocks in the sun watching the seals in the bay. We couldn't have asked for more. The cottage was lovely, a perfect combination of comfortable yet cosy. We will definitely be coming back to Seal Beach Cottage. Thank you to Lois and her family for such friendly hospitality.

  • The Raylia Cottage is a small piece of heaven on Mayne Island. The surrounding gardens and adjacent park make for a private, peaceful, setting with only the sound of wind chimes and the occasional chicken cluck to break the silence. Michele is awesome. She knows the area, knows the community, and is a thoughtful, excellent host. She gave us fresh eggs, bread, and this little spice mix that made the morning scramble incredible. Her dogs welcomed us and we felt right at home with the extensive VCR collection and the old Magnavox. AirBnB has a lot of choices, but this is a very special place.

    Nat2015-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Super cosy, rustic cabin with super hospitable host who welcomed us after our arraival. Located right in the middle of the Island with 10 minutes away from beaches, bays and restaurants, right at the base of fantastic hike to to top of the mountain with amazing view of Islands, ocean and passing ferries. If I can use a statement "underpromise" and "overdeliver" it wouldn't be an exaggeration. Fresh eggs in the refrigerator for breakfast with greens waiting for us with assortment of teas and coffee. When we inquire about kayak rental places, she offered us her own kayak and took us to the bay where is was, and pick us after we were done (we were on bicycling trip- no vehicle). We even get a tour of her farm with beautiful flower, herb and vegetable gardens. Definitely will recommend Michele and her place, and can't wait to be back.

    Marek2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful little cottage with a wonderful setting and host. Well setup and well situated. I walked to the pub, which took about 25 minutes, and hitch hiked back -- super fun. The wifi was a bit weak, but that may have my computer. I walked across the yard and had a lovely walk in Mount Parke. I also availed myself of a couple of old VHS movies. Michelle was an absolutely wonderful and helpful host.

    Gerry2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Raylia Cottage was absolutely beautiful- even nicer than the photos! The property backs onto a regional park with amazing hikes. The eggs from their chickens were also delicious.

  • Shanti and Don's con house is quite simply perfection. It is everything you see in the pictures and more. From the breathtaking open views of the farm, to the artistic and free flowing interior, it is truly a work of art. Shanti welcomed us as we arrived and brought us fresh bread, butter, milk, tea, and jam. If you are looking for a romantic and peaceful gateway, look no further than this beautiful cob house! I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed!

    Nadien2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • We simply could not have asked for kinder, more welcoming hosts. The space itself is beautiful, every small detail of the home is intentional and well thought out. It has a cozy country home feel with a wood burning stove, and a view of the surrounding rolling hills to match. We loved the outdoor shower, the peacefulness of the land, but especially the built by hand charm on every surface. You really must see this gorgeous place yourself! Having the fire lit when we got in, and slippers provided for the outdoor facilities were very welcome touches. Privacy is a priority for us and we were very comfortable here. We're grateful to have stayed in a place where we felt so at home, away from home. Thank you both.

  • What a dreamy, idyllic weekend getaway! The Cob House is even cuter than the pictures. We were greeted with a warm embrace, fresh milk, and bread and jam by Shanti upon our arrival. • Living in Vancouver Island, I've stayed at a few locations on the different Gulf Islands. Shanti and Don's property gives you a true restart and recharge. I found myself often stopping and looking around, being astonished by the beauty of their cob and surrounding property. I will definitely book again.

  • Staying at Shanti and Don's cob cottage was magical. The thick walls felt like a warm embrace. I loved all the lovely alcoves and windows. The woodwork, tile mosaic and beautiful workmanship were a delight. The setting was restful and peaceful. We enjoyed watching all the creatures on the pastures below and in the woodlands all about. Afterwards we stopped in at their Farm Gate Store and sampled some of their tasty creations, including a delicious pork pate, plum jam, chutney and tomato sauce. My husband and I would love to come back.

  • This is a great little spot to stay in town close to all the amenities on the island (including the bakery up the street!), and a short walk/hitch from the ferry. It was warm and cozy, with everything needed for a weekend trip, and in such a beautiful old house that's been thoughtfully updated with the cutest window seat, too.

    Michelle2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • A great place for a family to stay or just a couple. Right in town. A generous amount of space and good amenity considering there isn't a kitchen. I loved that they had a French Press with coffee provided.

  • This little gem has a great view, comfy beds, and crisp clean atmosphere. It has piles of seating and board games. We loved sitting in the bay window with our coffee and watching the ferries go by. You can walk to lots of shops from here, and down to the ocean.

Welcome to this delightful, cozy, year-round gulf island retreat. Nestled in an arbutus grove on 2-acres with a short walk to the beach. Private, self- contained, fully-equipped for relaxing or working. Come enjoy beautiful Mayne!
Welcome to Mayne Island, part of the beautiful Gulf Islands in the Salish Sea off the southern coast of British Columbia. Situated halfway between Vancouver and Victoria, Mayne Island is easily accessible by ferry (1- 1.5 hours) and offers the amenities of a small town while also providing a wonderful respite from city life. I love this cabin and lived in it for 4 years while building my cob house. You will be pleasantly surprised by how private and well stocked it is (e.g. olive oil, balsamic vinegar). Most people say it is so comfortable, they feel right at home and many guests return over and over.
The cabin is located in the Bennett Bay area of Mayne Island. There is a wonderful beach which is part of the Gulf Islands National Park and is the launch area for Bennett Bay Kayaking (kayak and paddle board rentals). The beach is sandy in some areas and rocky in others, making it great for swimming, sunbathing, building sandcastles and exploring the large rocks and tide pools or simply walking. You may see otters, seals, sea lions, whales, sea stars, eagles and herons, just to name a few. Mayne has numerous amenities including: 3 grocery stores, bakery, 2 liquor stores, book store, restaurants, pub, gift stores, health centre, library, yoga studio, spa, community centre, museum, church, recycling depot, thrift store, health food store, vet, kayak, sup, bike and scooter rentals, water taxi, boat tours and charters, tennis court, playgrounds, post office, gas station. The latest grocery option is Farm Gate featuring locally grown and/or organic foods and a great deli. There are also artists & studios, music concerts, a farmer’s market and fresh fish sold off the boat in summer, organic farms with roadside sales, beautiful Japanese gardens, parks, hiking trails, etc. etc, etc.
  • Kate's place was the perfect spot for a relaxing weekend out of town. The cabin was warm, cozy, clean and private. Kate was very accomodating and it was very easy communicating with her about our check in and check out plans. We really loved the hot tub and the cozy fire! The cabin was very well equppied with everything we needed for the weekend , including tons of DVDs and CD's, candles , and the kitchen basics which allowed us to cook a couple of nice meals during our stay. We will definitely be back!

  • We had an amazing time on Mayne Island. Kate was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcomed

    Tina2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kate was great. We loved being back in the trees - even on the warmer days the cottage stayed cool and comfortable. Wonderfully quiet and peaceful. And having the bed in the loft (with full privacy curtains, if needed), had great a great view and really decent airflow. Firewood was provided (not that we needed any during the fantastic weather we had). Spice cupboard was well stocked. Decent supply of dishes to use. Good selection of DVD, VHS, and CDs to self-entertain with. The dogs were quite entertaining, and were never an issue. Kate's main garden is also quite amazing. All in all, very relaxing. We loved staying here. Highly recommended! One thing to keep in mind - bed is upstairs, only bathroom is on the main floor. If you have issues with stairs (especially in the middle of the night) this may not be the best option for you....

    Jeremiah2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great, quiet location, all the amenities, and a fun CD, movie, and boardgame selection. A short walk to a tasty restaurant and public beach.

    Russell2016-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Kate's cabin. The kitchen was perfect for making your own meals, and the bed was super comfy. The hot tub was a nice place to relax at the end of the day after exploring the island. Many thanks!

  • We had such a nice stay for our anniversary. The cabin was so comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with tea and any spices we needed for cooking, plus we snipped some of Kate's fresh rosemary for our lamb steaks. Having Sam the basset hound trundle up to the gate to say hello each day was adorable and our dogs loved him. The outdoor lighting is lovely and the hot tub was such a nice treat! We would definitely return to this lovely little woodsy retreat.

  • Kate's place is exactly as cozy and homey as the pictures show. My time there was too brief but lovely.

    Tim2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Walking distance to 3 public beaches and a short drive to the farmers market and grocery store. The space feels private and secluded but Kate is near by if you have any questions. Had a lovely weekend relaxing in the hammock and hot tub, hope to be back soon!

This cozy cabin is located near the ferry so you could easily bike or walk. There's parking available but approx 100 foot walk to cabin. Ladder to loft bed and all the cooking essentials in a very comfortable kitchen set up. Currently no wi-fi but there is a hammock. This is a vegetarian cabin. Please do not cook any meat of any kind. The smell lingers and we do not want a stinky cabin. Thanks for your co-operation.
This space is unique in it's private and magical setting. Out every window, it's only the forest you'll see. At night you'll hear owls galore. A nice little mountain top hosts a hammock for relaxing(outside front door, highest point on the mini mountain over the mini ridge, bit of a scramble but it's up there!). Private deck in the back for all the solitude you'd ever ask for. The Meadow seating area is also super private and such a great place to have a quiet moment, listen to the birds, tune out, re-connect with nature and yourself! The bed is located in a loft, which is only accessible using a ladder. (See pictures) There is no wi-fi but a-ok cell reception. To ensure you are warm, there are heaters you could turn on or light the fire (Oct-May only). Best to pack your favorite slippers too!
The nearby neighbourhood is in the quaint Port Washington corridor. There are several great bike riding loops, nearby to the Saturday market, the thrift store (open Friday/Saturday) Southridge country store, beaches and more! Sunset beaches walking distance away or hike up the nearby George Hill, which is Pender Islands 2nd biggest 'mountain'!
  • Beautiful little cabin in the woods. Everything was ready to go for us. Easy and painless vacation check-in/check-out process. They made sure if we needed anything to just give them a call/text. Would recommend to anyone.

    Clayton2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Once we arrived we kept saying, 'it has everything we need!' We loved making fires, making tea, reading under heavy blankets, hiking, breathing and writing in this perfect space. J+A hooked it up, they are helpful and friendly hosts, the cabin has everything you could want, it feels like home. We didn't want to leave!

    Alexis2017-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cabin on the island. It's really close to everything but it felt really private . The wood burning stove made it feel really warm and cozy , even in the winter . I would highly recommend this cabin .

    Stefan2017-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute. Great interior of bare, solid wood, with charming, quirky design features. Very clean. Kitchen has all basic needs. We were very comfortable. Ceiling's a little low over the bed, if you want to do much in the bed other than sleep.

    Jesse2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend in this cabin! The cabin was cozy and perfect for relaxing on a rainy day. The kitchen made it easy to make great meals and we spent time reading and playing chess. The location is also great! There is access to lots of great running/walking trails and the rest of the island is easy to explore by car.

    Monica2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hospitality and a lovely and perfect little get away from the hustle of the big city. Can't wait to come back.

  • The hosted was very pleasant. Sorry to say the description wasn't accurate. I was also told it would be checked into about a rebate as we had to leave a day early because of a medical emergency in family. Haven't heard anything. Sorry to disappoint but have to be honest. Sincerely Sue Reid

We are located on beautiful Mayne Island within a 10-15 minute walking distance of stores and restaurants. The house is located on a seven acre property bordering on a park and it faces a scenic view of Active Pass from Mayne Island.
The house is surrounded by a large fenced yard in which there are gardens, a pond, waterfall and stream. We are starting to get our garden beds ready for planting and the first crocus are coming up. This time of year the place is a quiet retreat to relax in front of the fire and rid yourself of the stresses of the city. You can also explore local beaches and trails or visit stores and shops.

The cottage is situated on 14 acres surrounded by forests but with views of the ocean. It has a huge deck where hammocks (which are provided) can be hung and a full size hot tub is nestled in the rocks. It is very private but still easily accessible to the ocean.
French doors open onto a spacious deck and to the covered outdoor eating area plus hammocks are available to hang out on the deck. The deck overlooks the horses pasture and has views to Dinner Bay and Pender Island. The lovely Japanese Gardens and Dinner Bay park are a short walk away.
The cottage is in a rural area surrounded by large acreages but with easy access to the ocean and the park which has a playground, disc golf course and putting green.
  • It was a fantastic experience overall. Our arrival ferry was delayed and Jacquie waited to greet us at around 10:30 pm. After hearing that our departure ferry doesn't leave until 8 pm, she generously offered to not rent the cottage out on our last day so that we can stay longer. I would rate her a top host simply for these two points. They own large acreage of land, and the cottage is far way from the owner's house. They have two (?) horses that sometimes walk leisurely on their land, which adds to the charm of this cottage as a relaxing Gulf Island retreat. Her cottage is lovely, cozy and very well equipped. There's large patio space outside the cottage. On a sunny day, it's really nice to hangout on the patio. And the hot tub with picturesque view around is just fantastic! The second floor loft bedroom is an open space bedroom with large windows of great views as well. The Japanese garden is within walking distance, which is tranquil and beautiful. The location is close to Village Bay ferry terminal, and is easy enough to find. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing getaway retreat on Southern Gulf Islands.

  • Wonderful time in a beautiful place!

    Susan2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable, well-built cottage for 4 adults on a delightful Gulf Island. Mayne Is needs at least a 2 day stay to see some highlights. This was a great place to call home while we did that!

    Monica2017-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal location for a visit to Mayne Island. The Japanese Garden is across the street, as is a large park. Several restaurants are within bike riding distance. The hot tub with a view of the bay is a bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our quiet and peaceful stay.

    Randy2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jacquie was a great host. Super nice and friendly. She greeted us at the house, showed us around and provided some tips about good things to do in the area. The house is very well equipped. Lots of towels (which is important with the hot tub!) and the kitchen has everything you would want. We brought a bunch of kitchen utensils and didn't even need them. The outdoor hot tub is great!

    Chris2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • I can't say enough good things about our stay at Dinner Bay Cottage. It was fantastic. The cottage is as lovely as it looks in the photos; it was comfortable and had everything we needed. The spot is wonderful -- right in the forest but also just a short walk to a park, playground, and beach. Jacquie was a gracious and generous host (especially when we had to stay a few extra hours because of a flat tire!). We loved staying here, hope to return, and would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable getaway.

    Alison2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time at Jacquie and Carstens place. They were kind enough to pick us up from and drop us to the ferry. Carsten also drove us into town so we could get some supplies which was greatly appreciated. The view from the hot tub and the house is beautiful. We were lucky enough to have some beautiful snowfall as well. Really peaceful and serene place to unwind and would definitely recommend to fellow travelers!

    Bradley2017-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect cottage for an extremely relaxing break - just as described with no surprises apart from how amazingly addictive it is to hang out on the deck in hammocks all day! We (my husband, son and I) fell in love with Mayne Island and especially Jacquie's cottage. My husband cycled a bit around the island, my son checked out all the hammocks, and I found a comfy spot to finish up on some work. In between, we swam, walked to Dinner Bay Park and the Japanese Gardens, ate at The Groove Kitchen, hot tubbed and walked the dog. Perfect!

Our Guesthouse is a fully self-contained one bedroom suite that is situated on 16 acres of trees on the top of Mayne Island, with a spectacular view overlooking the Strait of Georgia and Active Pass. A perfect retreat if you are looking to explore nature, or to just relax and unwind and enjoy the amazing view. It offers peace, tranquility and definitely privacy! Close to Mount Parke hiking and the ocean for kayaking with seals/whales. Kayaks available to borrow. Ferry pick up also available.
The view!! Situated below the main house, Ravens Peak, both of which offer independent decks with a spectacular view of Active Pass. Cozy space with independent access, full kitchen, 2 sitting rooms, full bath and laundry, and airy bedroom space. Full size appliances for longer stays. TV and Wifi. With the exception of fire ban season, roast some marshmallows right outside your door in designated campfire area!
You can hike in four different directions right from our front door! Down the mountain on a rugged trail, to town. Down the road, if you want a long stroll that is less strenuous, to town. Our favourite, up the back to the top of Mount Parke, to a spectacular panoramic view of the Gulf Islands and the San Juan Islands, along the ridge to the Communications tower and helicopter pad, and down the Hydro road back to the house. Last, follow the designated park trails, Plumper Trail, down to the shops on Fernhill Road.
  • 10/10! Hosts are always available, friendly, respectful. Place is *WELL* equipped and is below the upper unit but very private. They couldnt hear a loud movie we were playing. Is clean and quite new! Love the wooden ceilings. Really comfortable to be in. Would come back again to try kayaks, fire pit, more hikes, more reading their awesome selection of books, more soaking in that view.

  • A perfect peaceful getaway cabin exactly as described. Very clean and with clear instructions on how to use or find things. We especially loved the wood burning stove and well stocked kitchen. The neighbours are close but the cabin is quiet and private surrounded by beautiful tall trees. Highly recommended!

  • We had an amazing time at Sonnen + Ross's place. Their space is incredibly comfortable and was a good home base for exploring some of the charms of Mayne Island. They were very quick to respond when we had questions about laundry services and did their best to offer us prompt solutions. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.

    Hannah2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a family of four with a 2 year old and 4 year old, as well as Gramma and Grampa (so six total) stay for four days. We had a great time. The place has everything you need, including a super fancy coffee maker that makes great coffee! We loved the deck with a forest view, and we had a great time checking out different parts of Mayne Island. Dinner Bay is just a short walk away, as is a playground, mini-golf course, and a Japanese garden. It's also a very short drive to Miner's Bay which has the main stores/services. Anyway, a good price and highly recommended!

    Arden2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a wonderful experience. Sonnen was incredibly helpful before we checked in, providing detailed instructions, tips about the island, and just generally being super accommodating and welcoming. Sonnen and Ross have a great collection of DVDs, which kept us entertained all through the weekend. And the kitchen was stocked well enough to prepare multiple meals (lots of cutting boards, a strainer, a pot big enough to cook pasta for 6, cocktail shakers, etc). The cabin is extremely well located and the guest binder has great suggestions of hikes and beaches. Clean, comfortable, and well-lit. The perfect place to cozy up for a long weekend--couldn't recommend it more.

    Eva2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sonnen and Ross were very easy to communicate with. The cozy cabin was very spacious for our group of four. It was very clean, comfortable and the location was ideal. Thank you for having us.

  • Sonnen and Ross have a fantastic place tucked into the lush mossy trees. We had a great stay warmed by the fire place. They provided all the amenities we could need. The location was perfect for our group, a short trip from the ferry and Miners Bay and a frisbee golf course just around the corner! Thanks for sharing you space!

    Chelsey2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Sonnen and Ross's place. The cabin is thoughtfully laid out for guests. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the wood stove and outdoor fire pit were a hit with our kids. Also, the cabin is in a good location, close to the ferry and the Dinner Bay park.

    Adrian2017-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sonnen and Ross were fantastic hosts. From the moment we booked the cabin they were accomodating and informative. The cabin had all the essentials and it was a really perfect getaway during Thanksgiving weekend. Kitchen and dining accomodated meals for 6 adults comfortably. It was great to have wood for a cozy fire and a nice music collection to enjoy. Short walk to the beach and the saturday market all made a perfect weekend! The photos are pretty accurate but it does feel bigger once you are there, the bedrooms are all well furnished and confortable. The experience was memorable and we will be back!

The 1200 sq/ft space is located in a spacious, fully self contained suite in the walk out basement with a separate entrance. We live upstairs with our 2 children. We have a large yard for playing outdoors or just relaxing. Being within walking distance to beaches and wildlife gives you ample time for relaxation but if you want more fun the village is about 2 kms away with great shops and restaurants. Wake up to the deer feeding outside your window and the silence of island living. Birds chirping, squirrels munching and ferry horns in the distance are all pretty common sounds on our quiet little island. Georgina Point Lighthouse is the perfect place for a Oceanside picnic, a bottle of wine and the PERFECT sunset views. This is where you will see sea lions, eagles, otters and even orcas if you're lucky! Truly a magical island that we hope you will enjoy and make lifetime memories on.
  • The accommodations were very spacious and Holly was very friendly and made herself available even though we did not need anything. Everything was provided, even emergency food stuff. It was quiet and peaceful. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

  • This is wonderful accommodation located very close to the ocean. It is amazingly quiet and comfortable. My teenage daughter was very thankful for the great wifi connection :D Holly left a delicious banana loaf for us upon our arrival! Thanks so much Holly! We may come back just to visit Candy.

  • Holly was very welcoming. She was easy to reach both prior to and during the stay, and was quick to answer any questions we had. She also very kindly picked us up from the ferry and dropped us off in town, which was very helpful as we were carless. We loved the little touches of island-made soaps and shampoos to try, and ended up buying some products to bring home. Loved the local-focus feel! Great location just a short walk to the lighthouse to watch the sunset. Thanks for a great stay!

  • The house is a perfect little cottage settled just into the woods. I couldn't have picked a more peaceful location for our relaxing vacation. We found it a perfect fit for our family- a couple with two young kids and a baby. The loft bedroom is a fun detail and had plenty of room for the playpen they provided. The other room was perfect for two kids and had a substantial door so we could stay up and chat in the living room or front porch. Ian was accessible and made check in and out very easy. There were plenty of child friendly things: a kitchen booster seat, baby gates, playpen, toys, plastic cups. And adult things: a great library, freshly ground coffee, coffee maker and wine glasses. All topped off by the deer roaming through the yard, the hiking trails next door, and plenty of peace and quiet.

    Mary2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was a perfect, peaceful getaway and we really enjoyed ourselves. Ian and Heather were gracious enough to lend us bikes when we had to leave ours in Vancouver, and even offered us rides to and from the ferry terminal. The cabin is very homey and inviting--needless to say, we hope to return for another long weekend!

  • Lovely little place, even nicer than the pictures. Excellent hosts, so friendly and helpful. They gave us rides to and from the ferry, provided great information about the island, things to see and do, and even the history of the area. The place was wonderful, with a well stocked kitchen. Look forward to visiting again soon!

  • A secluded, quiet cottage in the woods. Very private from the main house and anyone else. Except for the cute deer. The kitchen has everything you need for preparing your own meals. Very clean and cozy.

  • Ian is the best airbnb host I've encountered so far. Extremely friendly and always happy to help. His cabin is clean, cozy and has all the little things guests may need. Highly recommend for those who want a nice weekend getaway to Mayne Island.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ian's cabin. Everything was exceptionally clean and well throughout for the occupant's enjoyment. Ian was very accommodating, even lending us his day packs since we had left ours at home. All-n-all, we highly recommend staying here. If it were not for the fact that we had come to the Gulf Islands to kayak and bike, this would be a wonderful place to stay and simply curl up with a good book and a hot cup of coffee and spend the weekend never going out of the house. Thanks Ian!

  • There was a comfortable firm bed in a basic room with private bathroom. We had full use of a well-stocked kitchen and Christie was helpful in providing what I asked for.

  • A convenient location near Bennett Bay beach.

    Rodney2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The spot is as advertised. It's a good little room and the shared kitchen is great. Exactly what I needed on my trip.

  • I enjoyed my stay at Christie-Anna's place. She greeted me when I arrived and showed me my room and the shared kitchen. The room has its own separate entrance and is close to the spacious kitchen. The place is a bit far in the woods if you don't have a vehicle. Christie-Anna offered me a ride to the ferry if I hadn't brought my motorcycle.

  • This guest room has a full stocked kitchen and DVD / VHS collection so no need for Netflix. You could buy food at the True Value foods and cook all meals here. The kitchen is not connected to the Bedroom but that was OK with us. This bed room is connected to the bathroom (shower no bathtub). The local roads also have cute deers around so animal sightseeing is possible. It is walking distance (10-15 mins) to Bennett Bay. A bit further from the ferry though. Bennett Bay is cute for a sunset view for drinks/food at Bennett Bay Bistro (at the Bennett bay Resort). Note: We didn't have a car so we did the car share, local bus and hitch-hiked around the island. Very friendly people and they were all kind to us Overall - great guest room for people on a budget and also family friendly! Christie-Anna was a great host!

  • The room is very simple but it was very clean and well kept. I needed a bed for the night but there was a kitchen that I could use if needed.

Spring prices from $72/night. Available Jan, Feb, March (plus $60 cleaning per stay plus $20 for 3+ guests). Also taking bookings for the summer. This is a 2 bedroom cottage. The home is made out of milled cedar logs with vaulted ceilings. The cottage is newly renovated while retaining the original cedar walls, vaulted cedar ceiling and wood windows. The bathroom is equipped with a vanity, stall shower and toilet. The living room features the original wood stove. There is a kitchenette with toaster oven, small bar fridge, small upright freezer, hotplate, cutlery, dishes, towels, etc. The spacious deck has a portable barbecue. It is located a 1km walk from the ferry along the Sturdies Bay Trail. If you keep walking another 1km you will reach the pub and market. There is very limited Saturday only public transit on the island. Most amenities of south Galiano Island are a short walk away. Also we have Wifi. Watch the deer graze, the woodpeckers peck or hear the raven's song. The rural location means that when night falls, it is pitch black - perfect for stargazing. It often takes a day or two to adjust from the city pace to the slower island pace. Enjoy the island lifestyle!
  • The cabin was a great location on the island, close to everything, but still in a quiet area. It gets a bit calm with activities in the evenings on the island- so it is good for a little unplug vacation.

  • Robbie's family is very nice and friendly, the cabin is beside his house, it's safety, quiet, and at a good location, I lived there just like at home. Thanks a lot!

  • Robbie and Julie were excellent hosts - we loved the cozy cabin for the weekend. We watched the deer graze in the morning, and the space is close to some shops and trails. Thank you!

    Maria2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Robbie is a fantastic host. We had some questions about the fireplace and there were some power issues on the island at the time, but each time we reached out to Robbie he got back to us incredibly fast (under an hour each time I think). Great communication. Check in and out was a breeze, the place was clean and centrally located. Great cabin. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the island.

    Colin2017-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is exactly as described and pictured. A good place to spend a weekend - really close to places to eat, grocery stores, the Farmers Market, and Sturdies Bay. Happy to report that although there were no window screens on this cottage, we had all of the windows open during our entire stay (and the front door open until 11pm one night), and we didn't have a mosquito problem at all!

Home is inspired by European castles, English Cotswolds and Mediterranean colour. "What could one man build with his two hands?" Greg wondered. So he began his masterwork. He cut and set each stone. He shaped Mayne trees into arching windows & doors. Forged & hammered iron. Each room has a private entry, ocean-view balcony & kitchenette. Access to beach, courtyard, kayaks & BBQ. Wood fires in outdoor fireplace during non-summer months. Normally 2 night minimum, but enquire about 1 night stays.
This suite is one of three at Morningstone. See also Oceanfront 1@Morningstone and Oceanfront 3@Morningstone. The room has an ocean-view tumbled stone shower, queen-sized bed with goose-down duvet and down pillows, comfy reading chairs, and a dining table and chairs. On the ocean-view balcony, a patio table with chairs. Kitchenette well-equipped with fridge, toaster, microwave, kettle and French press coffee maker. For breakfast on the first day, this room is provisioned with complimentary fruit, granola & milk, homemade bread, butter & jam, coffee, tea and cream, replenished upon request on subsequent days. Crepe breakfast served in courtyard or in your suite, may be ordered from the menu. Overhead fan keeps room cool and breezy in warmer weather. The heated stone floors keep the room snug and warm in cooler weather. Cloth-covered foam mats are for additional guests ($25/night). Laundry service available.
  • Dorothy and her husband had the perfect balance of bein extremely accommodating while respecting privacy! Their home is lovely and their fresh baked bread is AMAZING. Their crepes were the perfect way to wake up in the morning.

  • Dorothy and Greg are incredible hosts! We stayed in their gorgeous suite with our 5 year old daughter and the entire experience was wonderful and perfect! The room was beautiful and clean with all the amenities you would need. In addition, Dorothy had fresh homemade warm bread and chocolate chip cookies waiting for us when we arrived! My daughter really appreciated that;) Oh, i haven't even mentioned their crepes yet!! When you stay here, you must order one these for breakfast.... or two or three. I think we tried them all and I am still daydreaming about them. We are Air BNB hosts ourselves and our experience at Dorothy+Greg's has really inspired us to step things up a notch! Thank you both again for such a lovely stay. We feel so grateful we found you and will definitely come back to Mayne Island to stay with you again.

  • Dorothy & Greg are lovely and warm people with a beautiful home. They were incredibly accommodating and made my husband and I feel welcome from the moment we arrived. There was fresh baked bread, fruit, and preserves waiting for us which we couldn't wait to taste! It is without question that this incredible home has been built with care and exudes love and beauty. The room was clean, comfortable, and our hosts did everything possible to make our stay a memorable one. Our mornings were spent enjoying coffee on the balcony whilst looking out at the serene bay and Greg's delicious crepes made fresh on the crepe cart are a must try! In the evening we warmed ourselves by a crackling fire in the outdoor fireplace. I highly recommend this stay to anyone and look forward to one day staying in Dorothy & Greg's lovely home again.

  • I'm sure our stay at the Morningstone is the closest we will come to stating in a castle. The house is amazing and beautiful. The location is very convenient to the ferry terminal but still secluded. Greg helped us launch his double kayak and we enjoyed a few hours paddling around the island. The homemade bread was a great welcoming gift. It rained one morning and we were very happy to spend the morning sipping coffee, relaxing and enjoying the views from the room. This is a very special place to stay and Greg and Dorothy are inspiring people.

  • Great location. Walking distance from the ferry terminal. Beautiful Ocean views and the sunsets were amazing.

    Jack2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place to spend a couple nights. It is immediately apparent walking up to the Marrowstone that Dorothy and Greg put a lot of meticulous care into their home and I feel lucky they open it up for others to share. The room is as described: very comfortable with an up-close view of the boats in Village Bay. I'd love to stay again the next time I'm in that neck of the woods.

  • What an amazing place to stay! Gorgeous accommodations, spectacular view and a laid back island feel. We were welcomed with fresh baked bread and jam upon arrival, and felt at home right away. Thanks for an incredible weekend, Greg and Dorothy!

A cozy, private one-bedroom getaway with a luxurious king size bed. Just a short stroll to tranquil Bennett Bay for an adventure out on the water or into the woods. With both nature and amenities within minutes by foot from your door, you will be able to relax and enjoy so much of what Mayne Island offers. Seasonally, we offer canoe, kayaks and bikes. We look forward to welcoming you...
We are in a lovely, peaceful location, tucked away at the very end of a quiet street -- with nature and amenities within minutes from our door. Serene Bennett Bay is ideal for swimming, kayaking and canoeing. Sun-dappled, moderate walking trails lead to a rocky promontory, perfect for a sunbath on the stones. Arbutus trees love Bennett Bay. The view is spectacular from dawn to dusk. Moonrises are the specialty. Or.... stay in with a movie and a board game, nap in a hammock or jump on the trampoline. If you don't feel like cooking, ask us to make you one of our delicious home-baked pizzas!
We are only a few minutes' stroll from Bennett Bay -- a spectacular bay for swimming and kayaking, leading you right into the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve for beautiful, tree-filled strolls to the rocky point and views of Mt. Baker and outlying islands of the bay. At the same time, f you are looking to go out for some pampering, we are steps from The Bistro and the AquaFlora Spa. Enjoy a drink and a delicious meal overlooking the bay or a few hours of spa treatments, including registered massage therapy. .... We are in the perfect spot for nature lovers or a night of dining under the moon.
  • Khai and Steve's place was a wonderful retreat on a mostly-sunny, partly rainy extended weekend in early fall. The suite has a cozy, cabin feel. The bed was comfy, and although the weather outside was a bit cool, there were plenty of heating options, so we were never chilly inside. The kitchen has all you need for a bit of cooking, thanks to the stovetop and large toaster oven/convection oven. There's also a little "corner store", where you can grab a snack and pay by honour box. We loved the smooth ocean stones built right into the shower wall and floor. The location is just a couple minutes away from Bennett Bay's beach and hiking trail, and the Mayne Inn's restaurant, if you want a meal out. Khai and Steve and their son were warm and welcoming, but allowed us our privacy. A great spot for a comfortable getaway.

    Janice2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our 2-day stay at Khai and Steve's was super relaxing and enjoyable. The one bedroom suite lacks nothing, is in a quiet cup-de-sac, but close to the Mayne Island Inn and the beach at Bennett Bay. The hosts are very accommodating and friendly and easy to communicate with. Their son Lliam does his part to greet the guests and offer his radiant smile!

    Barbara2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, comfortable, cozy suite. A minute's walk from The Bistro - a great place for lunch on the patio overlooking Bennet Bay. Khai and Steve have thought of everything - we didn't have a chance to meet Steve, but I'm sure he is as warm and welcoming as Khai.

    Louise2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Khai and Steve were wonderful hosts, and clearly care about providing a great stay to their guests. Their lovely suite was very comfortable, clean, and served as a true "home away from home". Details about what to do and see on the island were provided well in advance (a big help when trip planning), and a booklet with further information was available onsite. Little amenities - from bottled water to pre-ground coffee - were greatly appreciated, and these touches' positive impact on our stay was exceeded only by Khai and Steve's friendliness. A well-heated paradise, a luxurious bed, and stylishly modern bathroom await you at Khai and Steve's home, and we heartily recommend these lovely folks to you!
