Dunans Cottage is situated in the beautiful Knapdale Forest 1.9 miles from Cairnbaan within a National Scenic Area. The views are fantastic! The Cottage is off the beaten track but within a traditional farming hamlet with access via a forestry track ( see illustrated map ). Many outdoor and indoor activities are available within the area but the peace and quiet at Dunans are unique.
The cottage is small and cosy (6m x 4m, not including porch and bathroom), open plan studio style with a log burning stove. We will provide a log basket of firewood, and more can be bought on request. There is also electric heating. A small separate bathroom contains W.C., wash basin and shower. The kitchen area is well equipped and fitted with cooker, sink, a small fridge with a freezer compartment, washing machine and micro wave.
We live in mid Argyll and within that area there are many places worth a visit depending on your interest. Crinan(6 miles), is at the west end of the famous Crinan canal and has an hotel and coffee shop. From here it is possible to take a boat trip to the Corryvrecken whirlpool between the Isles of Jura and Scarba where you often can watch sea eagles. Crinan ferry beach is great for walking at low tide. Kilmartin (8 miles) is surrounded by archaeological sites(standing stones, stone circles and cairns) and the award winning museum and café are well worth a visit. The road to Tayvallich (11 miles) takes you along the shore of Caol Scotnish and past the ruined crofting community of Arichonan. Tayvallich village overlooks a bay with many boats. There is a pub and a shop. Passing through Tayvallich you can visit Taynish nature reserve, a beautiful area of ancient old oak forest and then on to the end of the peninsular and look straight across the water at the Isle of Jura.

¡presentar! ¡Muy mágico! ¡No queremos ir a casa!

Recomiendo a fondo.

    Bobby2018-12-03T00:00:00Z

We live in a lovely bungalow in a quiet area with superb views over the Crinan Canal and Loch Fyne. If you are planning to work locally short term or to visit to appreciate the beautiful West Coast of Scotland, this is a good central spot. The start of the Kintyre Way is 10 miles South and the historical archaeological site of Kilmartin is 10 miles North. We are also an ideal stop over to and from the Islay Ferry Terminal which is a 30 minute drive South.
The Crinan Canal, the most picturesque short cut to the Western Isles is just 70 short steps away. Cycle/walk 9 miles to its end at Crinan or better still 1/2 mile to the Ardrishaig sea lock basin. You can interact with us as much or as little as you wish, but regardless, we are always available for advice and information on the local area. We offer 1 Bedroom that is ensuite with one double bed. Please be aware that this is a 'small' double room approximately 12' x 11' (3.6m x 3.3m). There is access to all sides of the bed with additional fitted wardrobe space which houses the small fridge, kettle, tea tray and drawer unit with hanging rail. There is also an additional luggage rack in the room which can be placed outside if you so wish. There is room under the bed for storage. Feedback is that this is enough space to suit most needs. I hope this helps in your decision in choosing our accommodation but please feel free to contact for any further information.
We are in a very quiet neighbourhood so hope you find your stay relaxing and peaceful. There is a local pub/restaurant; convenience store and cafe within a short walk of the house. The Crinan Canal is accessed by steps directly to the house.

We offer the studio flat in our basement, just off the High Road in Tighnabruaich, situated in a beautiful oak and hazel woodland, but a short walk from both the seashore and the local amenities (the local hotel bar/restaurant and shops). The flat consists of a double bedroom with television and electric heating, a shower room with wc and heated towel rail and a kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and coffee making facilities.
There is parking space immediately outside the apartment.
We are nestled in oak and hazel woodland which you are welcome to access through our garden. Opposite the entrance to the studio is a short and shady passageway down to the nearby burn - a waterfall lies in the glade at the end in the gully. Very idyllic. The sound of the waterfall is a constant, soothing presence. The heart of the village is a short walk away down Bobby's Brae. In downtown Tighnabruaich you'll find the Tighnabruaich Hotel's bar/restaurant which is friendly of price and atmosphere, Raj's local grocery store, the Tearoom, and the Abbeyfield Charity Shop. Kyles Athletic Shinty club play their home matches nearby, their (in)famously sloping pitch edging down to the stunning Kyles of Bute.

Muchas gracias.

This spacious bungalow, located in the lovely little town of Lochgilphead, has been our family home for nearly 40 years. Set in a quiet, residential neighbourhood, with stunning views of Loch Gilp.
This is still our family home, so do please make yourself at home. You are welcome to use our things. Although there are three bedrooms in the house, only two are available, as the other is private, and will be locked. We hope you enjoy the house as much as we always have.
Lochgilphead is a small town (pop. 2300), but has excellent bus links, and many shops and places to eat. Everywhere in the town is walkable.

My place is in the historic village of Millhouse, near the beautiful sandy beach at Ostel bay, lovely country walks, Tighnabruiach and the Portavadie marina. You’ll love my place because of the log burning stove and the great deck. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and well behaved pets (£20 extra cleaning fee for pets ). Two pet max. It also has BT Business Wifi. If you are looking for a shorter stay than available then please let me know - I can sometimes do two nights.
The cottage is one of the workers cottages for the former gunpowder factory. It was built in around 1870 and has been fully modernised. There are plenty of outside seating areas on the decks to watch the world go by or have a bite to eat. The porch means you're safe from any inclement weather. The log fire will send out a vast amount of heat to keep you cosy and there is also a smart TV ( Wifi but no terrestrial TV reception ). There is a microwave, a dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, fridge, oven and hob. We also now have a BT Business line in the cottage to provide reliable wifi.
Millhouse is a small village just outside Tighnabruiach in Argyll, around 2 hours from Glasgow. Millhouse was home to a Gunpowder factory from 1849 to the early 1920's and the cottage is one of the former workers cottages. Many of the ruins can be found in the surrounding woods. Millhouse is near the scenic village of Tighnabruiach, Kames, the Portavadie marina and the beautiful beach at Ostel bay. You can see more pictures of the area on a popular social media site: (URL HIDDEN) Shops: There is a spar in Tighnabruiach a couple of miles from the cottage. If you carry on the shore road past the T-junction at the An Lochan hotel then its just along there on the right, along with the post office and the art gallery. There is also a local shop in Kames. From the Kames post office turn down towards the short and round a bend and the shop is on the right. Eating & Drinking: Wellpark is beautifully restored (URL HIDDEN) Wellpark welcome non-residents for bar lunches, and suppers but best to book in advance, especially in the summer. Botanica (URL HIDDEN) Just opened this year in Tighnabruaich village. Great cooking with locally sourced food and a menu which changes daily. Also a good place for a coffee – chocolate brownies are very good. For evening meals they open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The quality of the food is outstanding, best to book as it is a very popular place to eat. Kames Hotel (URL HIDDEN) about a mile from the cottage in Kames. Royal Hotel (URL HIDDEN) between the two villages of Kames and Tighnabruaich Portavadie Marina (URL HIDDEN) is a couple of miles away with three places to eat, a fine dining experience but also a budget restaurant and a cafe in this new and glitzy complex on the edge of Loch Fyne, with marina, health spa, gym, swimming and hot tubs as well The Oyster Catcher at Otter Ferry on the shore of Loch Fyne. A great place for a meal, the food is excellent or an evening drink and to see the sun set in the west. (URL HIDDEN)

Linnet Cottage is a two-bedroom, semi-detached cottage, on the banks of the Crinan Canal, "Britain's most scenic short-cut". Local shops and hotels are an easy stroll. The location is ideal for island-hopping (ferries to Islay, Jura, Arran, Mull and the Hebrides within an hour's drive), exploring Kilmartin Glen with its dozens of prehistoric sites, cycling of all sorts and gentle walks along the canal or through the forests of mid-Argyle. Great golf, food and whisky on your doorstep!
Linnet Cottage has been my holiday home for almost 20 years now. I bought it in 1999, and I never tire of the place. Ardrishaig is an old fishing village, but when the Silver Darlings left it re-invented itself as a haven for yachts, the entry to the Crinan Canal, and a gateway to the islands.
Kilmartin Glen would be on my must-see list. As well as the stone circle and standing stones at Lady Temple Wood, it's great fun to climb down into two of the cairns which are scattered along the line of the Glen. The tearoom at the heritage centre does great salads and cakes - if it's sunny, you can eat in the courtyard, but they also have a beautiful conservatory hidden downstairs, which is my brunch spot when I get the chance. There's a couple of less well known things you might want to do. IF it doesn't rain, a ten minute walk from the Kilmartin Road takes you to the top of Dunadd, which is where we used to crown our kings. There's a footprint and a bowl scooped out of the rock at the top of the hill, where the old fort used to be. I get fascinated by the Cup and Ring marks that are scattered across Scotland and Ireland. No one can agree what these decorations on rock-faces mean, which is part of the fun. The best site is at Achnabrek, which is a couple of miles north of Lochgilphead on the road to Kilmartin. If you're up for a short walk, I like hanging out at the Crinan end of the canal - there's a woodland walk that starts there (at the last lock before you come into the basin) and that gives great views out to to Islay and Jura, and back up North. If it rains? Go to the seafood cabin at Skipness - brilliant fresh shellfish, and the best orange sponge around (the secret is that they use their own duck eggs). If the weather breaks, you can walk around the castle. Or, you can do what I do - grab a book and sit in my little porch, watching the wet people on the yachts. Oh - if you like whisky, stop off at Loch Fyne Whiskies in Inveraray - they have an amazing selection. The Square Peg in Lochgilphead is good for local gifts.
4 South Park Cottages is a new holiday home which I want to share via AirBnB. Its on the Glenburn Road in Ardrishaig just before the Grey Gull Hotel as to travel from Lochgilphead. You have the use of the entire flat, which has three bedrooms, a lounge and kitchen, a bathroom with bath and shower. There is a parking space at the back of the cottage for one car and there is a garden at the front with a bench and table and chairs in the shed.
Ardrishaig is best known as the starting point of the Crinan Canal, a fine example of 19th century engineering known as ‘Britain’s most beautiful shortcut’. The Grey Gull Inn is next door to the flat and has a Bar and Restaurant which offers meals, light snacks, wines and beers. Ardrishaig is a great base for exploring the area and outdoor activities including walking, cycling, wildlife watching (beavers in Knapdale) and all sorts of birds and mammals in and around Loch Gilp and Loch Fyne.

'Scotland - the most beautiful country in the world' - Rough Guide. Views from our sitting room are proof of that. Our spacious, clean and modern apartment with its exquisite views is located in a bizarre and atmospheric 'Addams Family' castle. Historically important Erines House was rebuilt in 1912 in the style of a Baronial Hall - the fantasy of an eccentric Dutchman. Parts of the house do still need some love and care, and the main hall and lobby ask you to forgive a work in progress.
Our first-floor apartment has recently been completely remodelled. The new bathroom has been fitted with a walk-in power shower. There are new hardwood floors throughout, and the kitchen is comprehensively equipped with all new modern appliances. The galley kitchen, the dining area and the sitting room are combined into one attractive space that overlooks stunning views of Loch Fyne. The kitchen is very well equipped, with a fan oven, a four hotplate hob, a microwave cooker, toaster, an espresso coffee machine and a full-size dishwasher. There is also a refrigerator, a washing machine and a tumble dryer available for your use. There are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed, and the other has twin beds in it. The second bedroom is small, but we decided that it was better to have full-size beds. We do provide an additional sleeping space in the sitting room where the two-seater sofa folds out into a small double bed. This might be a better option if two adults are proposing to sleep in the smaller bedroom.
Erines House is set back overlooking Loch Fyne and is surrounded on three sides by thousands of acres of woodland. Our nearest shop is three miles away at Ardrishaig. Nights are quiet, and skies are dark. When we stay at Erines ourselves, our main theme is always 'Fish'! For eating out, we recommend the Seafood Cabin at Skipness Castle, the Starfish restaurant in Tarbert as well as the Grey Gull hotel restaurant in Ardrishaig. But our strongest recommendation is that you buy your own fish from the amazing fishmongers in Tarbert village - you will have to ask where it is, as it is hidden away - and you bring home the most beautiful fresh fish you have ever tasted. Cook it in your own kitchen the way you prefer, and enjoy your meal while looking out over the loch as night falls. There are few experiences more pleasurable! Or, you might like to do some fishing yourself! You can normally fish for free from any of the beaches or piers that you will find everywhere - where there is a real chance that you might also catch sight of a sea otter! Coarse fishing in wild water is generally free, but angling club waters are restricted to members - or those anglers who have purchased a fishing permit and when, if you are lucky, you may even get a whole loch to yourself! To assist you, we keep a number of fishing rods and some fishing tackle in the apartment, so please feel free to use them. Put a rod in the back of your car on Day One, and don't waste an opportunity. All we ask is that you replace any tackle that you lose. There are also folding chairs and a picnic basket to take with you. Enjoy a full day out - fishing and picnicking, looking at sites, tombs, carved stones and artefacts, some of which are many thousands of years old - and you can do this, often without meeting anyone. There are so many beautifully quiet places to visit that you will soon begin to appreciate how the whole area relaxes and comforts the spirit.
