  • RRH was an amazing place. Nothing quite like it out there. Place was clean and everything was very well thought-out with signs and instructions for anything and everything you could worry about!

  • Rock Reach House is everything we'd hoped it would be. FYI cell service is spotty depending on your carrier. Verizon good, Sprint - not so much. Outstanding scenery all around you.

  • The Rock Reach House was perfect for our girls weekend during Labor Day. The house is gorgeous, the cold and hot tubs were wonderful, and the views were stunning. Check in and check out was very easy and the hosts were really easy to get in contact with. The Wifi worked well and the whole place is set up for a luxurious desert dream weekend. It was quiet and stunning, perfect for a small group to enjoy themselves. Thanks so much!!

  • This was my third time renting Rock Reach and it was fantastic as always. This is a magical place and I'm incredibly thankful it's available to rent. Highly recommended.

  • I had seen this house in Dwell and then later in Sunset mag and instantly wanted to visit. Partly to see this house design and partly to stay in the high desert area and see a big nighttime sky and just relax. It was everything we had hoped it would be. So relaxing and so quiet while still being close to Joshua Tree National park as well as some good food. I wish I could have stayed longer and already want to go back. Maybe next time during the winter.

    Mark2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This house is absolutely beautiful and the location could not be better. The amenities that came with the house were fantastic and we wish we could have stayed longed to enjoy everything it had to offer. This house is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, family vacation, or anything in between! I wish we could rate it higher than just 5 stars!

  • Rock Reach House is magic. We had a wonderful time. So much to explore and great touches everywhere. The photos are right on the money. Feels like you're in your own slice of the world. The peace and quiet... Thank you!

    Jeffrey2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in the Rock Reach House. An amazing place at an amazing spot. We wanted to stay there for ever! The house is very clean, the communication with Dave was very good. Everything absolutly perfect.

As advertised. The location is charming. The house is very small, but enough for a couple. The worst is the bathroom in a separated building.

  • We arrived on a cold, dark desert night. The directions were perfect and Anitra had the heaters in the cabin and bathroom going, such a nice touch. The place was so adorable and we were so warm up in the loft. The sunrise was everything we hoped for. This place is a Gem and so peaceful. Heart felt Thanks Kc and Leann

  • Great place. Cozy quiet private.

    Laura2017-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical and the ranch is so quaint! The host was wonderful, very responsive and gave perfect directions. I can't wait to return and star gaze.

    Marcela 2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying here! Anitra was easy to communicate with and I had no problems checking-in. The cabin is small and tidy, and the bathroom was updated and clean. The ranch was very peaceful and rejuvenating. I loved watching the sunrise and sunset. Thanks Anitra!

    Stacey2017-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a gorgeous place. Anitra's ranch is the perfect getaway, close to Pioneertown but perfectly secluded, down the road from the main house and totally private. The cabin was clean, quiet, and cozy, with a gorgeous view of the sun set, sun rise and the stars. Anitra was available for any questions and even brought us fresh goat's milk from her farm! We will come again as soon as possible. (Even the bathhouse was very clean and lovely!)

    Kathleen2017-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little cabin with great views during the day and night! Very happy to have had the chance to stay here

    Kyle2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was amazing! It was the perfect get away for the holiday weekend. Would definitely recommend it for anyone that is seeking an outdoor experience in the wonderful desert. Beautiful star gazing location

Incredible, 45-foot-long Spartan Imperial Mansion (1955) in epic location, with 360 degree views of Joshua Tree and gorgeous bespoke interior. 2 miles up a dirt road. Private Driveway. Hikes all around, in landscape as beautiful as anything in the park. No plumbing. Electricity only. House with shared bathroom and kitchen about 300 yards away! Very special spot, very romantic. Glamping at its best. See reviews of other trailers on same property for better understanding of The Whole compound.
The Whole is my compound 2 miles up a dirt road, equidistant to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park. 4 other rental trailers are on the same property, making it the perfect mixture of isolated and social. I live in the main house. I look forward to meeting and hosting you!
  • Tao's airstream was very funky and right in the heart of the Joshua tree like landscape. Great amenities in the house if not the airstream and lovely place to explore!

    Verity2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • I've been going to the Joshua Tree area for the past eight years and this was the best place I've stayed. Beautiful panoramic views. Incredible surroundings for hiking in every direction. A perfect retreat for writing and getting away from the city noise. The trailer is one of a kind. It has the most comfortable bed surrounded by huge beautiful windows that look out over breathtaking landscapes. There's great decor and a vintage sound system. It's nicely isolated from the rest of the compound, but the compound is warm and inspiring. Incredible kitchen, dining room and bathroom. Tao was a great host and there were other really charming and interesting guest staying at the property. Amazing stay. Can't wait to go back.

    Daniel2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Tao is the best! He is truly a legend. Half the value in staying in his awesome collection of vintage trailers is just getting to interact with him and see his house as well! The trailers are all completely authentic refurbed vintage trailers from an awesome collection he has.

    Tyler2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • MY REVIEW: Tao has a truly magical space tucked into the hills of Yucca Valley. Everything from the clear, starry night sky (I saw 3 shooting stars!!), to the beautiful landscape with bunnies, quail, lizards, woodpeckers and the periodic coyote howls. And of course there is Tao himself. A gracious host who so generously shared his common space. There were other visitors as well from all over the world. A unique, eclectic and friendly bunch. The bathroom has a door leading outdoors and (as my friend pointed out) the shower never runs out of hot water!! We loved our Imperial Mansion too! It was just the right distance from the main house and other trailers. Very quiet and cozy. Tao also provides a space heater though we never needed it. This was the most relaxed I’ve been in a long time. Best meditations ☺. Joshua Tree National Park is about 30 minutes away and super amazing as well. If you’re looking for the perfect balance between isolated solitude and interesting, relaxed community this is it. ACCOMPANYING FRIEND'S REVIEW: This was our very first Airbnb experience, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. Fortunately, Tao the host, was always super responsive to all of our questions before and during the trip, which was great. The trailer itself was clean, roomy, and fun to hang around in. The grounds, well, it's awesome. We were a few yards from the main house that had other trailers, all of which surround a communal house, which is basically decorated like how I'd want for my future house to look. I only wish we were a little closer to Joshua Tree. All in all, it was a great, easygoing experience and would definitely recommend! Thanks Again Tao!!

  • Wonderful, romantic RV off the beaten path in Yucca Valley. This RV is parked on a large, private compound of vintage RV's. The views are gorgeous, the host is wonderful, and the RV is just fantastic. Can't wait to come back here.

    Alex2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and secluded location down a long dirt road. Clean, no frills getaway spot close to Pioneertown and the park. Behind the trailer is a small mountain you can hike up and the view around the trailer is great. Definitely will keep this place in mind for a longer stay in the future.

    Riley2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Tao was a perfect end to a weeklong road trip to LA. The entire living situation he has in Yucca Valley is very idyllic--the views were just perfect, the campers were comfortable and the main home was beyond accommodating. I recommend this place to anyone, even if you're traveling alone, who enjoys staying at a place where guests can come together and chat/eat/drink all night and follow it with a quiet nights sleep in whichever camper you rent out. Hoping to visit here again!

  • Others have said it but I will repeat: this is the place you want to stay if you're planning an evening at Pappy & Harriet's. Arrive in the late afternoon so you can climb into the star gazer and watch the sunset (and moon rise), and then wander down the road to Pappy & Harriet's to get your name on their undoubtedly long waiting list. The place is cozy, but it's a simple and cute no-frills crash pad that was perfect for 2. The hosts were great and made it clear they were available if we had any questions or problems - which we didn't! (Tip: stay during the full moon and you won't need the head lamps on your stumble back to the Star Gazer, but bring them with you anyway because they're just fun to wear. :) )

    Noah2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was a fun spot to stay! You can walk to Pappy & Harriet's in about 5 minutes!

    Alexa 2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in the Stargazer was great. It was very cozy and well equipped with everything we needed. The bed was comfy, kitchen and bathroom were well stocked and self check in was easy. We were in walking distance to Pappy and Harriet's and Laurie left two headlamps for us to use to get to and fro safely. That was a fun surprise! Very peaceful place to stay and we hope to stay again.

    Melissa2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Stargazer was the perfect place to stay when we visited Pioneertown with plans to have dinner at Pappy & Harriet’s. It was walkable, easy to find and convenient. If visiting P&H in the evening, remember to bring a flashlight for your walk (we did find a headlamp in the dresser drawer, but brought our own). Cute, quaint little place perfect for an overnight visit of Pioneertown.

    Eva2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie was great, very communicative, easy to reach! Although it was cloudy didn't really see the stars but I did some BBQ it was fun. Cottage was small but nice and cozy. Its also close walk to Pappy and Harriette's .

    Hrishikesh2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great space very close to Pappy & Harriet's which makes for a lovely night out!

    Ariana2018-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place as advertised! Perfect for a Joshua Tree adventure.

    Michael2017-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Maybe uncomfortable in winter. A space heater only is provided for heat and it blew the circuit breaker in the middle of the night. Hot water ran out after 3 minutes. In our opinion, not enough time for two people to shower.

25 minutos a Palm Springs. Aunque probablemente no querrá ir a ninguna parte. Es el paraíso aquí.
  • Tao was casual, cordial and responsive. I enjoyed my stay. The place is amazing with amazing views of the valley and mountains around it.

    Caleb2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had a short visit but I really enjoyed the property, it's incredibly unique and peaceful. Not too far from Joshua Tree, either, if that's your destination. Don't worry if you don't have 4WD, I have a Honda Civic and made it just fine. Ophelia was lovely and showed me around. I stayed in the silver camper and the bed was comfy and everything was very clean. I was provided with a swamp cooler since it was a very hot weekend in Yucca Valley. The place has a great vibe and I hope to visit again. I stayed very late in Joshua Tree so unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to talk to the other guests. Thank you for everything!

  • This is the place to go for some R&R. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Great people. And a friendly cat to boot. Our dog, Eddie, didn’t want the leave when the time came (but to be fair, neither did we). Tracy was a wonderful host - friendly and helpful. She even offered us up some of the pancakes she was cooking the first morning we were there. Will hopefully be back soon.

Enjoy a taste of VW Van life without the hassle. This 83 Adventure Wagon is a rare model tucked on a mountainside with our "high desert vibe" co-creating, co-livng community. From here you'll see incredible sunrises, take a quick hikes to nearby epic rock formations and have access to our house amenities and communal spaces. You'll be hardly roughing it while enjoying organic coffee. The VW comes with a two-burner stove, couch, table, ample storage, some snacks and a fold out queen bed.
Our mountainside location is a perfect mix between a semi-secluded natural landscape (with views) but just a short dirt road drive away from the town of Yucca Valley. An outdoor fire pit, seating areas, and large working, writing, reading table are accessible for all guests and residents. Chris and I work remotely (when we aren't traveling) and both of us enjoy sharing life stories with other travelers, creatives and artists. There are dirt roads/trails that wind throughout the property which are great for short explorations. You'll be see plenty of rabbits, jackrabbits and birds hanging out in the morning and we recommend heading west from the property up to the secret fire pit and through some incredible boulder formations. Best of all it is extremely central to the top attractions in the area: - 10 minutes to Frontier Cafe and the heart of creative shops in Yucca Valley - 15 minutes to Downtown Joshua Tree with plenty of food and shops - 20 minutes to the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park - 20 minutes to our second favorite free hike @ Black Rock Canyon - 15 minutes to Pioneer Town home of Pappy & Harriets - 20 minutes to Landers Brewery Outside the van you'll find a fire pit, a well maintained yard area with access to the dirt roads/trails that wind around the mountain in all directions. Please use G.Maps for ACCURATE turn by turn directions to the van, not Apple Maps or GPS they will get you lost.

  • We had a such warm welcoming from their beautiful dog Vera. Both hosts were very attentive to our needs. The van experience was great, the bed was comfortable and the star gazing amazing! There's a short hike from there with a cool view. Loved it!

  • A unique and awesome way to spend our trip! The van was nice and comfortable and Brandon was great at getting us situated. The night time view of the stars is incredible and the daytime views of the desert equally enjoyable. Hosts were super nice and accommodating. 10/10 would recommend to anyone without hesitation!

    Jaxon2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • For me, the van was just serviceable for sleeping in. The seats and bed were clean but pretty uncomfortable. Although the site gives a wonderful view of the night sky, being in the driveway made me feel like I was in a parking lot. For the price I would have been better off sleeping in my car in Joshua Tree Park. Also I think asking for the two day minimum is unreasonable given the conditions. Everyone has their own expectations, and perhaps mine were simply not a good fit for this rental.

    Stacy2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful stay and exactly what we were looking for. We thought it would be more secluded away from other homes, but we realized especially at night that it wasn't that bad at all. The proximity of restaurants and shops was convenient and close enough to trails and attractions. The van was clean and had nice amenities we didn't expect. Brandon was a great host and very friendly. Definitely recommend this stay to anyone wanting an outdoor, quiet experience.

  • My friend and I needed a trip away from the city and the second we laid eyes on this Airbnb posting, we knew it was it. The van, nothing but spectacular. If you are looking for a nice cozy place to sleep with a breathtaking view of the sunrise and stars, you've found it. The pull out bed was very comfortable and every aspect of the van was what we were looking for, from the stove to brew morning coffee and tea to the elegantly hung lights that was the cherry on top of the calming yet exciting time spent in the van. There is nothing like popping the back trunk up, breathing in the fresh clean morning air, and watching the sun's magical colors reflect off the background of beautiful mountains. On top of the wonderful experience of the van, we were also very pleased to meet the host Brandon. A super rad guy, very welcoming, helpful, and friendly! Always quick to reply to messages. I would definitely recommend swapping some stories with this guy. If you are looking for an elite, deluxe stay with tucked in sheets, go to a hotel. If you are seeking adventure and excitement, which I'm guessing most of you who clicked in on this posting are, then you have found the right place. A great van named Ella Fitzgerald, with a great host. It truly was the prefect ingredient for my perfect trip. Special thanks again to Brandon! We will be back!

  • This was a charming and cozy place to stay for our trip to Yucca Valley! Location is great, literally right up the road from Pioneertown and just a few miles from Joshua Tree. Everything was as described on the listing, and Kate messaged me the day before with some details about check-in that made our stay go very smoothly. Our dog loved the yard as well!

  • This bungalow was a great, cozy retreat for a weekend in Joshua Tree! It backs up to beautiful open land and mountains, and the property itself is quite large... Great if you have a dog to bring. Kate and her husband were very communicative and attentive to all of our needs. The kitchen is cute but little, so if you plan on cooking you might want to bring extra cookware. We loved exploring Pioneer Town and Downtown Joshua Tree. I highly recommend getting some smoked ribs at Pappy and Harriet's... Ridiculously good. And of course, hiking the national park was amazing. Overall a wonderful stay!

  • Kate and Kevin were out of town but Kate replied right away and was very welcoming. She also gave me a well-descriptive instruction about their place. Their place is a perfect quick getaway from the city even just for one night. Joshua Tree and Pioneertown are nearby. I love how spacious the bungalow is and their huge yard for my furry babies. Reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because the ad isn't accurate. Kitchen is not fully equipped (no can, wine opener, bowls, and pots.. only skillet) and the portable heaters weren't sufficient enough. Other than that, the morning view and night sky definitely took my breathe away and the experience was irreplaceable. I do recommend this place. Nothing beats a desert trip when you feel suffocated in your daily life. I wish we stayed longer!

  • Great place to stay! Loved the decor of the inside :) almost felt like a little cabin with the fire place heater going :) hosts were very welcoming and even offered an extra blanket because it was pretty cold that night :) would definitely stay again.

  • Even though it was super hot while we were there, you can't beat the price for the location! Super close to Joshua Tree and the Integratron. Thanks!

Nestled in the cozy heart of lush juniper trees and Joshua trees this glamping tent has everything to make your desert adventure magical. Take a bath under the stars inside a juniper tree with homemade soaps and salts. It’s cozy tent has everything you need to stay warm during winter and cold during the summer. It’s 9 minutes to Pappy & Harriets and the National Park and 5 minutes to the main highway and Frontier cafe. Come hear to relax and stargaze.
Juniper Moon Sanctuary is a sacred place covered in ancient Joshua and Juniper trees backed up onto a pristine mountain of protected land. There’s a little over 1 acre of untouched desert environment to explore on the property, with the rest of the land created for comfort & healing. Less than 5 min from Frontier cafe and Highway 62 and 10 min to Pappy & Harriets & Joshua Tree National Park. Take a warm bath under the stars in the womb of a juniper. Queer & female safe. Dog friendly w/approval.
Juniper Terrace is one of the best kept secrets of all of the high desert residential neighborhoods. When Sinatra was making Palm Springs infamous, rogues, artists, and free spirits created a little corner of yucca valley into Joshua tree lined driveways adorned with art and expansive panoramic views. Despite being 5 min from the main highway, the unpaved streets and location next to untouched land allows you to enjoy the feeling of being deep in nature with all of creatures comforts at hand.
  • Sophia's place is so special - you can really tell how much thought and care she put into creating this magical little space. It was pretty cold at night but so warm in the tent, and the bath water was nice and hot! I would DEFINITELY go back. Thank you!

    Erin2018-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sophia has put together a super cute spot up in the desert hills. The outdoor door tub was the highlight and soaking under the stars in bath salt infused water was a unique and relaxing experience. The sleeping accommodations were kept just warm enough for a January evening with the heater on 900 watts (1500 will blow the breaker). Just a heads up, you have to pee in a bucket.

    Blair2018-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Sophia’s tepee and bath tub under the stars is incredible. Private little nook between junipers and Joshua trees with own entrance. We stayed warm at night with the heater she provided and took a bath under stars. Exactly what we needed after days driving across the country. Close proximity to Pappy & Harriet’s and Joshua Tree. Thank you Sophia!

    Jeremy2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Sophia’s backyard oasis was wonderful! Tent is nice and cozy, with a comfortable bed and warm blankets. Took a bath and felt so relaxed. Short drive to Joshua tree national park. Easy access to groceries and other restaurants. Sophia was very accommodating to our needs and helped give us advice when we asked! I would definitely stay again!

    Kelly2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a great experience for my daughter and I . The hostess is extremely gracious. She shared her knowledge and love about the desert . Her bath balms and soaps are beautifully hand crafted, and she even taught my daughter how to make them. We stayed warm and cozy even though it was 36* outside. This was the ultimate glamping....... But the bath under the stars, absolutely incredible. We definitely will be back soon.

    Cynthia2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sophia’s place was even more amazing than we had expected. Very quiet, peaceful and the tub is just the icing on the cake. Highly recommend this spot to anyone staying in the area. We are big hikers but not big campers so we were excited about the experience but also a little timid to be sleeping in the tent overnight but Sophia greeted us with open arms (also gifts) and really made us feel at home. She truly made our stay more enjoyable and comfortable.

Old Heard Ranch is a dreamy 20 acre homestead with plenty of charm. Just a short walk from the famous Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown, Ca. This private getaway has been created for solitude & relaxation - yet is also the perfect place for gathering and entertaining. 3 bedrooms/3 baths, open kitchen , high ceilings, acres of secluded back yard with unobstructed mountain/sunset views and a back patio with BBQ.
Located in the famous old West set town of Pioneertown we are 5 min (.3 miles) walk to Pappy and Harriet's, 3.5 miles to Pioneertown Mountains Preserve, 10 miles to Joshua Tree National Park, there is almost nowhere else with such isolation yet such proximity to one of the best music venues out there. The sense of wonder and freedom is undeniable.
Pioneertown started as a live-in Old West motion-picture set, built in the 1940s. The set was designed to provide a place for the actors to live while using their homes in the movie. A number of Westerns and early television shows were filmed in Pioneertown, including The Cisco Kid and Edgar Buchanan's Judge Roy Bean.
  • We couldn't imagine a better pioneertown experience. The backdrop to this ranch house is a private and serene mountain setting that makes for some incredible sunsets. The drive up to the house is through a deep front yard full of natural desert plants, complete with a fire pit and little solar lamps dotting the walkway. The house was furnished beautifully with a fun mix of both modern and rustic desert touches, and we felt right at home. We took advantage of the short walk up the road to Pappy and Harriet's and had a fun night with a live band playing. It was so much better than driving there, and why would you? It was just close enough to get anywhere we needed, and yet we still felt secluded in our desert oasis of Old Heard Ranch. Holly was also a very polite and responsive host. My husband and I only wish we had more time to stay, it really felt like a home away from home. We definitely recommend staying here!

    Cat2018-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Holly was helpful/kind/responsive throughout- hard to ask for a better host. Wonderful setting- beautiful views in all directions, loved listening to the night sounds of the desert Spacious/open kitchen/dining area Great proximity to convenience of Yucca Valley, quaintness of Pioneertown, and hiking of Joshua Tree.

  • I cannot say enough great things about this place!! Holly is so helpful and so quick to respond! She made everything so easy for us. The house is AMAZING. The beds are so comfortable and the décor is sooo nice!! The house gives off amazing vibes which will only make your stay better!!! I stayed here with my family and we had so much fun hanging out in the living room with the fire place on!! The house is very spacious and cozy. There is an outdoor seating area with a fire pit as well which makes it great to sit outside and watch the sunset! There is also an outdoor back patio which is so nice if you want to sit outside and grill! The place is also within walking distance to Pappy and Harriet's. This is just another plus about staying here. You can easily walk to Pappy's and have dinner and listen to their live music!!! Get a taste of the old western town by staying at Holly's place and enjoy the beauty that Joshua Tree has to offer!!

    Lauren2017-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time here. It's the perfect retreat for family and friends to enjoy a blend of privacy and walking access to Pioneertown's attractions. With beautiful views, big open spaces far from the road, and quality indoor/outdoor kitchens, the ranch is a treat for groups that want to enjoy big meals and each other's company. Really magical place. I will definitely be back.

    Martin2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, even nicer than the photos. Our friends loved it as well. Holly was quick to reply and flexible when needed. We’ll be back soon!

  • Such a swanky pad in the desert. Close to Pappy and Harriet's with tons of fun touches to bring the 70's back in a big way. Great coffee set up and fun decor including a turntable and some groovy albums! Highly recommend for that high desert vibe!

  • We had a great stay at Ursula and David's place! They have a great space with lots of Joshua Trees. The outdoor spaces are very cool, and the trailer itself was incredible! Very cozy and clean, with lots of unique touches. There is very little reception/WiFi, which wasn't a problem for us since we desired to be off the grid a bit. Would definitely recommend!

    Argi2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Birthday girl and her boyfriend stayed in That 70's trailer. It is close to the house and has great views of the desert. This was a great decision for the main couple. The decor is so fun well done. Lots of black light posters around a nice comfy bed. Full closet and desk with record player. There is small food area so you never have to leave unless you want to join the party. Great bathroom. It's really all inclusive. The couple really enjoyed staying here. David was an awesome host. And was there waiting for us all when we arrived. They just did such a wonderful job making this trailer and the whole property a super fun escape with cool decor and comfort.

    Taryn2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a special place. We cannot wait to come back. The trailer and the decor are like nothing I've ever seen. We loved walking around on the grounds with our coffee in the morning. They did such a great job. David made our stay super comfortable. We wanted to stay another night but it was booked. Cannot wait to come back!

THIS RESERVATION IS JUST FOR THE CAL KING BEDROOM. I include a full description of possible accommodations in our dome home in the description below. A great vacation starts with great accommodations. The first story of our large dome house features two bedrooms with a full bathroom and comfortably fits 9 guests. We can accommodate guests upstairs in a section of the loft with the King bed and 2 air mattresses, as well. The loft is open (not private for romantic times), but private enough that nobody will see you when you sleep. There is also a full, shared bathroom upstairs. The Queen Private Bedroom features a comfortable, queen bedroom set (mirrored headboard with remote for overhead lighting and a mirrored dresser), and blackout curtains (for those who enjoy sleeping in). The queen bedroom is the most private, insulated room in the house. The Cal King Private Bedroom features a California king-sized bed, blackout curtains (for those who enjoy sleeping in), a dresser, table, and futon (couch/bed). There is a sofa in the living room. This sofa does not fold out into a bed, but is large and very comfortable to sleep on. This dome house is perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends. As some of our past guests have noted, "It's cozy enough for a couple or large enough for a group." The design and layout of this amazing dome house takes full advantage of the sunlight and mountain views. The front balcony is a popular spot for star gazing (there are no street lights in our neighborhood, so light pollution is very low). The large kitchen is fully equipped with many appliances, shelving for storing your groceries, plenty of room in the refrigerator, complimentary breakfast items (coffee, tea, creamer, honey, sugar, Splenda). I also have a little general store with extra groceries and drinks for those who don't have the time or want to make a trip to the grocery store. You are welcome to dine inside or outside and enjoy the fantastic views of the natural desert and the stars. I also have TV trays available for use. Some of the local wildlife you will and might see, include bunnies, doves, quail, ground squirrels, lizards, owls, bats, bob cats and coyotes. The dome house features stunning views of the desert and is located in a quiet, safe and peaceful neighborhood, with a large, locked, fenced-in yard. So whether you are looking for a couples retreat, a memorable family vacation, or a girl-cation friends getaway, your stay will be enjoyable at the dome house. Check out the pictures and reviews and please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
There is a nice golf course in the area. There is a wonderful sushi restaurant about three minutes from the house and plenty of nice places to eat as you drive into town. If you like Mexican food, there are a couple of nice restaurants near the house, as well. I am about 20 minutes from the famous Joshua Tree National Park and 7 minutes away from Pappy and Harriet's (Pioneertown). I am 10 minutes (6 miles) from a Walmart Super Center. There are also Vons and Stater Brothers grocery stores in the area. Palm Springs is about 30 minutes from the dome house.

Sehr umsichtig! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Only a mile from Pappy and Harriet's, and fifteen minutes from the Joshua Tree nat'l park, spend your time in Pioneertown in a beautiful vintage Silver Streak in a garden with some of the most stunning views around. Walk right out the front door into thousands of acres of Wildlands Preserve land to explore, or just kick back and enjoy. This off-grid experience runs on solar and well, with electricity, a full kitchen and bathroom (hot water), a BBQ and an additional outdoor shower (seasonal).
Located on the 35 acre Ranch of the Rising Sun property just up the hill from a historic home re-built by filmmaker Julian Pinder, featured in the New York Times fashion section in 2016. Directly out the front door of the vintage Silver Streak lies thousands of acres of Pioneertown Wildlands Conservancy land. Just steps up the hill you'll find yourself in some of the most stunning and least travelled trails and hikes. This is a unique location being only a mile from Pioneertown and Pappy & Harriets, isolated and with stunning views backing onto thousands of acres of Wildlands Preserve land, but just minutes from the amenities of Yucca Valley and right off of paved Pioneertown road. No long dark back road drives to get lost or destroy your car on.
Pioneertown is one of the most unique places in California. Built in the late 40's as a functioning movie set by Roy Rogers and the Sons of Pioneers, hundreds of Westerns have been shot here. There is superb hiking, horseback riding, live music (Pappy and Harriets), and it's just a fifteen minute drive from the Joshua Tree national park. Just down the hill a 35 minute drive is the iconic city of Palm Springs. This property is also very close to the amenities in Yucca Valley. Within five minutes there are grocery stores, gas stations, laundromats, coffee shops, vintage shops, etc.
  • Would love to stay here again

  • We had an amazing time staying in Julians airstreamer and I will be back for sure. It’s super cozy and clean and what we loved the most was the record player and the open fire where we spent both evenings gazing at the stars. There is no wifi or phone reception which was amazing to be forced to detach from the real world!

    nina 2018-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Silver Streak was an absolute gem. Perfect remote and rustic getaway in a great location (close to town, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's). Peaceful, beautiful, cozy - Julian was so responsive and even added a gas fire pit at our request (which keeps you warm on those chilly desert nights). Don't wait to book this spot...we can't wait to come again!

    Jodi2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The silver streak was lovely. Great location where I felt like I was away from everything, but close to Joshua Tree park, Pappy & Harriet's, coffee shops and restaurants. Julian was an incredible communicator, available and accommodating. Brought coffee and checked the fire pit (user error on our part). The airstream itself is darling, the twin beds were surprisingly comfortable and the little heater really worked. I brought extra blankets but there was no need because the little RV was stocked with blankets, extra sheets, and towels. The outdoor fire pit was lovely, especially since there is fire ban currently. I will definitely be returning.

  • Julian's Silver Steak is a true retro desert experience - my boyfriend and I loved it. The views are unbeatable, and we were really able to soak up some of the mystic energy of this region around the fire pit. If you're feeling adventurous, I highly recommend staying here... although I would suggest arriving before sunset - the place is a bit tricky to find in the dark (though Julian provides excellent instructions).

My place is close to Pappy and Harriet's and Pioneertown fun . Pappy and Harriet's is 6/10 of a mile (URL HIDDEN) easy 10-15 minute walk. You’ll love our casita because of the views and the ambiance. It is good for couples, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). However, if you are a smoker, this is not the place for you. I have a strict no smoking policy as the property burnt to the ground 10 years ago and I have a barn full of hay.
The casita is spacious with a covered front porch and a dining area both inside and outside behind the casita. It is enclosed by a fenced in area that is separate from our dogs and fenced area. We do have to walk by the casita to get to our horses several times a day to feed and clean.

  • First off, I will tell you what I told the host-- the pictures do not do this place justice. It is a beautiful property surrounded by the gorgeous desert landscape, and the guesthouse itself is cozy little home. I arrived a bit late on the day of my stay and I'm disappointed that I did! Would've loved to been in town longer. But besides that, this is a perfect base to explore Pioneertown, Yucca Valley, and the area around Joshua Tree. It's walking distance from Pappy & Harriet's, which is a big plus if you don't want to drive around after seeing a show there or something. Liz, the host, was quick to answer any and all of my questions and was flexible about checking in/out. Although I didn't see much of her, it was still nice to interact when we did. Look no further if you're looking to find a place to stay in the area-- this is it.

  • Great place and hosts. Very clean and cozy. Wonderful views. Very close to town. Great for a quiet get away!

    Jorg2016-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Super close to Pappy's. Pics don't do it justice. Super clean and nice. Dogs started barking early, so there was no lazy morning. You have to get to Crossroads early if you want a table for breakfast, so it all worked out.

  • My family of 4 (kids age 8 and 5) stated here 1 night and it was cozy, clean, and refreshing. Hope to stop by again sometime.

  • The location is amazing, so close to Pappy & Harriet's. The Casita is very spacious, it can easily fit four people. Liz was very sweet and stayed up late for us to check in at 9:30

The 1950 Spartan Mansion: an immaculately-restored, mind-blowing, nomadic midcentury dwelling. This shiny work of art has a rich past; she served as a rolling home for a traveling family that worked on big contract jobs around the US in the fifties. We have a copy of their self-published memoir inside. A perfect desert homestead for your next retreat.
A self-contained living space, the Spartan is an enchanting lodging experience. Well protected from the elements, while close to nature. It has a small kitchen with the original 1950 fridge and propane range and oven, also an electric kettle with coffee and tea supplies. Bathroom with toilet, shower and sink. The private bedroom has a full-sized (slightly shorter) bed and sleeps 2 average height adults. The couch can sleep a taller adult. Fans are available in the hot summer months and a space heater keeps the place cozy in the winter. While we make the Spartan as comfortable as possible, please keep in mind that this is still a camping type experience and you'll need to plan for the weather accordingly. The summers get quite hot and the winters get very cold. Our family home is steps away from your front door in case you need anything at all during your stay.
The neighborhood is home to an astonishing number of artists and musicians, homesteaders, off-the-gridders, beekeepers and poets, potters and painters enjoying the indoor/outdoor life in myriad ways. Enjoy fresh eggs in the morning, local honey in your coffee, a long, silent walk at dawn through the wild desert. A couple of nights gazing upward.
  • This is a unique experience for sure. Totally cool trailer, well preserved and restored. Enough room for 2 of us (and we are big people). The main bed was a little small, but no worries, there is the couch/bed at the other end of the trailer, which was comfy as well. We visited on an extremely cold, and wet winter weekend, but felt cozy and well taken care of. Fun to unplug and be close to nature, kind of like camping, but with the convenience of plumbing, and a hard roof over our heads. I recommend this place for a unique getaway, and experience.

  • We can't rave enough about our experience staying in the Sparten and about our amazing hosts, Karen and Chris (and their lovely 4 year old daughter)! This was our first time to Pioneertown and we arrived later, in the dark but the easy directions led us right to our starry-skied, quiet neighborhood destination. It happened to be a particularly cold week when we arrived and we were pretty road weary after a 10 hour drive but that first step into the Sparten was the most inviting, warm, cozy experience. I'd let Karen know we'd be on the later side so she'd left heaters and lights on and the fridge lightly stocked with bubbly water, a few beers, and cream for the locally roasted coffee they also had on hand. The Sparten is a piece of art work -all original wood interior panelling with living space to relax in, a super cool retro/futuristic bathroom and a private bedroom. The kitchen was great for making food and Chris brought us a great camp stove to use since the original one wasn't working while we were there. I loved Karen's small but beautiful artistic touches with rocks, feathers, tiny plants and colorful blankets that swept us up in the desert vibe and made us feel like we were welcomed guests in a friend's home. Another added comfort, since the Sparten has an aspect of "glamping" is their bath house. Especially with the cold weather, it was great to have a comfortable, roomy, warm space to shower. Since we were there for the Desert & Denim trade show in Pioneertown we didn't have much time to explore the surrounding trails and open space. But we did get to enjoy the peacefulness of their property each morning, sitting in the sun with coffee enjoying the song birds and their sweet lab Lola and the playful cat. We also checked out the two incredible teepees (also available for staying in!) in the back yard that look out to tons of wilderness. Honestly, we had no idea how much our stay in the Sparten and our experience with Chris and Karen was going to add so much more to our whole trip to the desert! The last morning Karin made us a really incredible breakfast that we all enjoyed on their patio and we could have easily sunk even deeper into our desert get-away if we hadn't needed to finally get on the road. Can't wait to get back there!

  • What an amazing time! We love staying in the classic campers and this was by far the best one we have stayed in!

    Morgan2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here to be close to Pappy & Harriet's, of course, and being close to JT park is also key. The Spartan was awesome, and the touches Karen included were things I'd never think of but won't ever forget. Lola the dog was fun to have around, and you have to see their property to believe it. We will be back!

    Wanda2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The trailer was clean, comfy, and stocked with everything we needed. The coffee and breakfast on the porch in the morning was awesome. Lola the dog is super sweet.

    Drew2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • I visited Pioneertown with a colleague, and Karen's Spartan was the perfect place for a quick getaway. Surrounded by the beauty of Joshua Tree but still close to town. Karen was more than accommodating with such a pleasant demeanor. Also, breakfast was insanely delicious. Side note - it was nice that there were two sleeping areas, but neither was very comfortable, and the generator goes on and off all night which can wake you up if you're a light sleeper.

    Kirstin2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Chris are the best hosts and their space is incredibly calm and beautiful. Two big thumbs up.

    Matt2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Karen's airstream! The trailer was in great condition with hot and cold water, a fully functional bathroom, space heaters, filtered drinking water, coffee & snacks, and charming decor! Karen welcomed us into her home for a delicious breakfast one morning and we enjoyed meeting her lovely family. The property is in a stunning location close to Joshua Tree park. Strongly recommend!

  • Alicia thank you so much for letting us stay at your place! Your camper was absolutely perfect for our party of four! For those planning on staying here, Alicia is super nice and keeps the camper nice, clean, and packed full of food! Not only that, there's also a cupboard full of board games in there too! My friends and I just ended up playing Settlers of Cattan all night long after we got settled in. Located near Joshua Tree, her place is perfect if you plan on visiting the park, palm springs, or both (like us). My GF and actually look forward to coming back when we go to Joshua Tree again sometime! It was so fun, thank you so much! ^_^

The Pathfinder Tipi is a peaceful hermitage which accommodates one to two campers. A perfect spot to watch the light move across the desert, listen to the abundant birds and other wildlife all around you, and at night you can see stars and moon trace the sky through the opening at the top. We provide cozy cots and linens, tea, coffee, and mineral-rich drinking water from the well. Your desert retreat awaits.
There's something about sleeping in a tipi. It feels very close to nature. The canvas breathes with the wind and adds to the symphony of natural sound in the desert. Songbirds, doves, jays, coyotes, sometimes an owl or two. This 18' diameter, 200 sq. ft tipi space sleeps one to two guests. It also has a small sink, an electric kettle, and power outlets. We put a fan in the tipi during the hot summer months and an electric blanket keeps you cozy no matter how cold it gets in the winter. While we make all of our spaces as comfortable as possible, please keep in mind that this is still a camping type experience and you'll need to plan for the weather accordingly. The summers get quite hot and the winters get very cold. Our family home is steps away from your front door in case you need anything at all during your stay.

  • Camp Temenos. What a place! What lovely people! I spent my nights reading with incense burning and candle light flickering, gazing up into a night sky filled with stars, and waking in a spotlight of moonlight. During the days, as the temperature rose, I felt cocooned in my tipi as the walls rippled with the wind and the sun's bright light glowed, subdued. I felt instantly at home. Karen and Chris (and little Z!) greeted me warmly each day with coffee ready — sometimes in person and sometimes with the simple act of a cup and a thermos waiting at the table. Chris sent me on an adventure into the Pioneertown Mountains Reserve a short walking distance from the property. Karen cooked up the tastiest breakfast and gave solid recommendations. Both shared some good local lore. Everything you'd want to do—be it town or country—is only a stunning drive away. Otherwise, everything you'd need to relax is right here: tipi, snacks, outdoor *and* indoor shower, desert hikes, moisturizer (!), a sweet resident dog and a roaming neighborhood cat, good people... As a relatively social introvert, I give major props to two thoughtful folks who can intuitively sense how to bring comfort and smiles. We had good conversations spanning all subjects, and we also shared moments of blissful solitude. Under the California influence, I'm inspired to honor their chill vibes and good energy. I treasure the time I spent here. And I hope to return.

  • I have been visiting Joshua Tree on weekend for years and was so happy to discover this place! Karen was an incredible host. She left me hot tea and cookies in the morning when I woke up. The tipi was beautifully set up to be comfortable in any kind of weather and I had far more amenities than I had ever expected. The tipi itself was amazing and even beyond that, Karen has really opened up her entire space to guests. There was lots of room to roam and every detail had been thought of. The tipi opened up to an incredible and expansive view. It was very comfortable and still also provided the chance to feel the fresh air all night. I will definitely be back and will bring more people next time. This place is a total find and a wonderful spot for some R&R.

  • Camp Temenos is a gem. The accommodations exceeded our expectations and the hosts were unexpectedly cool. The surrounding terrain is preserved and great for hiking, roasted marshmallows at night, and super close to Pappy and Harriot's - a major bonus. The tipis and setting make a dreamy desert fairy tale come true. My family and I can't wait to return. We love camp Temenos!

    Meezie2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Chris were amazing hosts and the tipi was exactly what we wanted for our stay in the desert. We were in town for a concert at Pappy & Harriet's and the location of this place could not have been more perfect and easy to find. The small tipi was just enough room for two people and the bed was surprisingly cozy. We were so surprised to see it even had a sink with running water in it! The bathroom was just a few steps away and the outdoor kitchen was just enough. There was also a bench outside of our tipi where we sat and enjoyed the sunsets. We will definitely be back when we want to catch another show down the road!

    Abigail2017-04-18T00:00:00Z

  • Billy’s place was the perfect little paradise to recharge for the new year. We absolutely loved everything about it (especially the hot tub and spectacular star gazing) and hope to visit again soon!

    Amanda2018-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Love love love this place! So adorable and funky. Very private. Beautiful views. The hot tub is awesome! Know that the kitchen and bath are open air, so pack extra layers if you go in winter.

  • We adored staying here. It was the perfect place for a night in Joshua Tree. Hot tub, comfortable accommodations, and breathtaking scenery. It’s great for those looking for a secluded getaway in the desert while still being within a few minutes of everything. Book it!

    Mark2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Truly magical place! Our only regret is we didn’t stay longer. The house is beautifully secluded but just a short drive to everything you need in Yucca Valley. Billy’s parents greeted us and were wonderful friendly hosts! The shack itself is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated - and the hot tub was the perfect end to a chilly winter night. Can’t wait to come back.

    Liana2018-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • I don’t even want to tell anyone about this place because I KNOW it’s going to be extremely booked out all the time!! My siblings and I were here for a Christmas getaway and it was the best trip we have had thus far. The tent was BEYOND cute!! The hosts—Billy and his family were so accommodating and extra sweet—they got my brother a chubaka (not sure of the spelling) mask for a Christmas present —WHO DOES THAT!? They do and that’s why they and this place is amazing. I WILL BE BACK!!!

    dina2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • First things first - 2 nights was not at all enough to enjoy this space. It’s tranquil, secluded, but still close enough to civilization if needed :) What can I say about this place? Everything about it is amazing. The tipi was such a nice touch - regardless of the weather outside, the blankets & “fireplace” will definitely have you cozy. (I even woke up at one point a little hot!) Taking in the jacuzzi under the stars will have you plotting on when you can return here again. I almost don’t want to leave this review. I want to keep this place a secret! Billy was always just an email away & Roxanne & Brian were so welcoming when I arrived. I still have the sweet visual of me pulling up to the well lit fireplace as they stood on the steps, smiling, waiting for me to come up. I could go on & on about this place but instead I’ll just come back ;) Billy, Roxanne & Brian - thank you so much for making sure I had be most wonderful time. The place is truly a gem.

    Nicole2018-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • This. Place. Is. AMAZING!!!!! Part of me wants to selfishly give a bad review just so I can keep it to myself and be able to stay there anytime we head out to the desert, ha! If you want privacy that is close to civilization and want to be one with the magic of the desert, the Love Shack is the perfect Airbnb for you. Billy and co were amazing hosts, super friendly and very communicative - and we even came on Christmas Day night. Everything was clean, gorgeous and well thought out. We will be back (many times) to sit in the hot tub under the stars.

    Amanda2017-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • An unforgettable experience. The little touches and detailed aesthetic make for an intoxicating setting, especially with the spectacular backdrop of the Joshua Tree desert. The hot tub is perfect for sunset soaks after dinner cooked in the outdoor kitchen next to the firepit. The yurt was also comfortable and beautifully decorated. It remained warm even through the cold night outside. Billy, Brian and Roxanne are an absolute pleasure to interact with. We're booking this again ASAP, and can't wait to come back.
