Not a country cottage so no low ceilings, dark rooms and draughts..just well insulated and thoughtfully designed cabin with large windows to take advantage of the views. Definitely not glamping either as full facilities. Not located on a picture postcard street, just in large garden at end of quiet cul de sac but with main road running behind cabin. No struggle to find parking as ample space in own courtyard. Priced so I can afford to include all the little extras that guests value.
Visiting on own or as a couple then enjoy Super King bed but easily splits into twins. Space in bedroom for cot and single folding bed or double inflatable mattress available for use in Sitting Room. Might be a bit cosy but great if only for a night or two. I have furnished in shabby chic style but with quality items all repurposed to create comfortable but functional environment. Love this quote left in visitor book "You close the door behind you and you've entered a secluded little retro world" You want a bit of peace and quiet well that is relative as most of my guests are escaping town life so find it very tranquil and scarcely notice road that runs at back of property. Others notice at first but soon realise view is more of a distraction especially when dining alfresco or enjoying the stars due to village Dark Sky status. Do remind guests that will need a torch when walking back from excellent Red Lion as no street lights. Having family members with disabilities I am aware of problems finding suitable accommodation so have designed with that in mind - not the complete set up but Octogenarian wheelchair bound friend stayed and he and wife found perfect for their needs. No sumptuous cottage garden - I'm the gardener so have to be realstic. Managed to save a few mature trees during build process in 2015 and much new planting that will be magnificent in couple of years but in meantime my natural border does include grasses and thistles as after all a weed is only a plant in wrong place and bees and butterflies love. Also have bird feeders and nesting box just outside bedroom window and blue tits particuarly love. Have thought about privacy carefully as their are occupants in main property but layout has been thought through to ensure everyone has own space without infringement on others enjoyment. Have had usual trials with IT but now have cabled connection to router and reliable service. Though most of my guests seem to really enjoy 'turning phones off' and listening to late Aunt's eclectic vinyl collection on multi media player. Similarly there is a TV but not dominant plasma screen just one discreetly tucked into corner. Have had guests for long term stays so always happy to discuss options if you need a base while working away or if between house sales.
Little Bulpits (field for Bulls) was Old English field name of field before development and hence unusual name for this property. Long Compton is a charming Cotswold Village located in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and excellent walking area (MacMillan Way). On A3400 with Oxford and Stratford on Avon both 20 miles. The Rollright Stones are located on edge of parish. There is a well stocked village shop 5 minutes walk away and popular village pub 10 minutes walk. Local towns are Chipping Norton, Moreton in Marsh and Shipston on Stour. Whichford Pottery, Cotswold Distillery and Hook Norton Brewery located in neighbouring villages. Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold, Daylesford Farm Shop, Blenheim Palace and Compton Verney Art Gallery are both within half an hours drive

    Jennifer2019-07-19T00:00:00Z

    Natalie2019-03-31T00:00:00Z

Set in the traquil surroundings of Lower Nill Farm this wooden cabin has glorious views across the Cotswolds with all the amenities to make your stay a relaxing break away from hectic life. Lower Nill Farm is just a short distance from the historical village of Hook Norton. Hook Norton is famous throughout the world for its brewery which has been making beer since 1849. Lower Nill Farm is also located on the historic D'arcy Dalton way which spans the length of the county of Oxfordshire.
The Cabin is an oak framed structure complete with exposed beams/trusses and vaulted ceilings which make the space light & airy. The glazing makes the most of the views looking out to Brailes Hill and beyond, it also makes a great space to watch local wildlife. The Cabin also has a huge garden at your disposal perfect for summer BBQ's and for children to play safely. The plot is in a very peaceful part of the farm an excellent place to unplug and relax.
Lower Nill Farm is located in the spectacular Oxfordshire countryside. It's a great base to explore the Cotswolds and also historical cities and towns like Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, Banbury, Chipping Norton and Leamington Spa. The local village, Hook Norton, is a very picturesque place where agriculture and brewing have played a huge part in the prosperity of the village. The local brewery is the home of Hook Norton ales and a huge source of local pride. A visit to the brewery shows you a process that has barely changed in 200 years in a majestic building purpose built for the serious business of making beer. Other local gems are: -Whichford pottery and the adjoining Straw Kitchen Cafe -Broughton Castle -The Rollright Stones -Upton House -Chastleton House -Blenheim Palace

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Gracias Julie y Iain

Newly renovated annexe in peaceful Cotswolds setting. Modern kitchen, large living/dining room with SkyQ, king sized bed, and en suite. Use of private garden.
The annexe is attached to a period stone Cotswold property dating back to 1865 when the site was used by the local wheelwright

Perhaps the most wonderful amenity is Whichford Wood. There is access through the lane that runs parallel to our moat which ends up in the field where you can see a track that leads to the wood – there you will find many paths. You will definitely need your wellies for this. In early May there is a sea of bluebells, in autumn there are chestnuts and hazelnuts and quite often, if you are quiet, you will see muntjak and deer. The Village of Whichford The award winning village pub, The Norman Knight, serves good meals and has a lovely view over the village green.. They also have excellent live music nights. The pub is open every day except Monday lunchtime (open bank holidays). Whichford Pottery is also a wonderful place to visit, where there is a stunning garden full of inspiring pots, the Octagon gift shop and the marvellous Straw Cafe. Wyatts Farm Shop near Great Rollright has a good selection of meat, vegetables, gifts and plants, wine and a cafe. The Village Shop, Hook Norton, is open until 8pm. Taste of the Country, Shipston-on-Stour, sell delicious handmade foods. The Rollright Stones The Rollright Stones is an ancient site, consisting of three elements, The Kings Men stone circle, the King Stone, and the Whispering Knights. It is well worth a visit and is just up the road. Holycombe Holistic Retreat Centre There are a number of alternative treatments on offer at Holycombe, such as Shiatsu, Reiki, Massage, Reflexology, Block clearance and hypnotherapy, kinesiology, Emotional Freedom Technique, Acupuncture and Psychic readings, whilst you are camping, these can be arranged with individual therapists. • Lugar encantador, exactamente como se describe.

    Jason2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Tuve una estancia encantadora en el anexo. Estaba realmente limpio, ordenado y acogedor.

Long Compton lies at the northern edge of the Cotswold escarpment in South Warwickshire. It nestles in the valley of a tributary to the river Stour. As its name suggests, it is linear in form, stretching for almost a mile along the main road with spurs of development, principally on one side. Long Compton is known for its pretty thatched cottages, warm Cotswold stone walls, ancient church with an unusual lychgate, and above all for its glorious countryside. It is within the boundary of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Beauty and much of the village is protected by conservation area status. The Village is well situated to visit local towns of historic and special interest such as Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh, Shipston-on-Stour, Startford-upon-Avon & Stow-on-the-Wold, and also to enjoy walks in the beautiful countryside including the Macmillan Way, and Shakespeare Way. Long Compton remains essentially a farming community. The countryside and landscapes are highly valued by all who are lucky enough to live here. Long Compton is a village and parish in South Warwickshire. It is part of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has many of the characteristics of a typical Cotswold village - thatched limestone cottages, medieval church, pretty hedge-rowed lanes leading out to gentle green hills. It is a lovely place to live and visit and is fortunate to be positioned within easy reach of both Oxford and Stratford upon Avon, as well as all of the well-known attractions in the Cotswolds itself - the Neolithic stone circle - the Rollright Stones - is within walking distance.
  • Limpio y lleno de carácter.

    David2019-04-14T00:00:00Z

No tengo ninguna queja.

    Sam2018-12-30T00:00:00Z

A light, comfy room with a double bed, spacious en suite, we're right in the heart of the edge of the Cotswolds, with two great pubs in the village, and fabulous walks from our front door. We're 30 mins from Stratford Upon Avon, 45 mins from Oxford, and just 20 mins from Banbury Train Station (direct links to London and Birmingham). The Rollright Stones are a 10 min drive away, as is Chipping Norton. Hook Norton would make a super base to explore the northern half of the Cotswolds.
