  • Oli and Rupam's home in the hills is a home everyone dreams of having! Tucked away in a cosy corner of Naukutchiatal, it's the perfect getaway from the city. Entire home is exactly as shown and described. You can really see the effort that they've put into making you feel at home. Came here with 6 friends, and everyone loved their stay. Arun (the manager) can get you anything you want, really. And Mahesh (the cook) makes some great food. Do try the Dal Bhat, the local pahari dal. Lots of places to go nearby for day hikes. There's also zorbing in the lake nearby - something I highly recommend you try if you haven't ever. If you're looking to get away from the busy city life and disconnect from the world, this is the place you're looking for.

  • Wonderful home Wonderful experience ! Great staff , helpful hosts , we were 6 of us and had the most memorable trip in absolute tranquility . This Beautifully made wooden cabin the hills is made with utmost detail. Host Rupam was kind enough to answer all small questions on weather etc. locations and gave us few tips on things to do in the area. Mahesh the cook is an absolute all rounder who made the trip even more comfortable. Must go !

  • I must appreciate Oli, for creating such a wonderful place. First of all, the place Naukuchiataal itself is very quite & beautiful. Icing on the cake was to stay at a place like La Belle Vie. If you appreciate small things in life, this is the place for you. Kudos to the interior designer, who has designed the place so beautifully, that you would keep on admiring it, even after you come back home. Starting from the planters, to the rooms, to the loft, everything is just perfect. We were a family of 10, including 4 kiddos, so Kiddos just loved the loft, & spent most of the time in the loft itself. Arun, the manager & Mahesh, the cook, made the stay more memorable. They never said no for anything. Starting from arranging a cake for valentine to arranging a champagne bottle to the bonfire, they made it all available, without any hassle. I would surely recommend everyone to visit this place, as for me, this was a beautiful experience, which I would never forget in my life. Cheers.

  • Absolutely charming little cottage in the hills. Great food, great decor and great service. The pictures do it more justice than my words ever could.

  • We were a group of 8 friends who stay at this cottage towards the end of February. Our stay was excellent, specially thanks to the wonderful cottage. The accommodation is tastefully decorated, it's kept clean, it's fairly secluded so noise-free and has a great caretaker. The food provided was as you'd eat at home and like us you can cook up a small bbq too. All in all a fantastic stay and memories that will last us really long. Tips: - Go with people who are easy going and don't have hang ups or egos, you're bound to have a pleasant stay. - Let Mahesh and Arun, the caretaker and manager respectively, know what you want in advance so they can arrange for things. - We found the food portion size quite large and had leftovers for next day, so order carefully (check with Arun). Have a good stay yourself. We'd love to visit the place again.

  • The place is good, maintained well. The staff is good too. However we found the location a bit off.

  • Oli and Rupam's house in the hills is meticulously and tastefully designed. The attention to detail in each part of the house is amazing. The manager Arun and the cook Mahesh took care of our every need. Mahesh cooks basic meals well but for anything more you'd have to head into town. The house is also equipped with some board games to keep kids occupied. Its a lovely place to relax with a book. Inverters are in place so you don't have to worry about power cuts. Oli was very quick to respond to any query and is a warm person to communicate with. We had a fun time and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to unwind!

  • Far away from the maddening city life, this is a place quietly perched on a mountain providing peace and tranquility. The cottage is tastefully done and has a very warm, personal feel with exhibits of the owners hobbies and pictures of the family. The caretakers were quick to please and made us comfortable as soon as we reached. To do touristy stuff, there are a few places like a visit to binsar, almora and temples and of course apricot and kiwi and apple orchards. The view of snow capped mountains is ethereal when you just come a little away from the cottage. Overall we had a great stay and still recovering from the hangover of fresh air, water and scenic beauty.

  • Great place as usual:) well kept and the care taker is great at his work!

  • Rajat's place is probably the best place one can get in Mukteshwar, its got privacy, great views from the place. Rajat had given us proper directions to the place alongside instructions that will assist us in our stay at Iris cottage. It was extremely helpful Iris cottage is stocked with DVD's and games but unfortunately we did not get enough time to enjoy all of those. Iris Cottage is right beneath Cafe Chandi Mati, which is pretty good place to eat and they deliver right upto the cottage. The caretaker Panditji is a great guy, specially abled but says yes to everything, I had my 3 yr old toddler and my mothers with us and he did everything he could to make things more comfortable for us. The place has some 100 odd steps down from the main road, but has railings and steps are wide and comfortable so even the elders can come here. We were blessed with great weather in Mukteshwar and being in the cottage when it rains is pure bliss. I would love to visit the cottage again when I plan my trip to Mukteshwar.

  • Rajat was a charming gentlemen from day 1. He is curious about the people who send him a request to stay and does like to know more about all the people staying. For obvious reasons, it is his vacation home as well. All the pictures shown cannot demonstrate the beauty of the place. Very nicely tucked away in the valley giving splendid views of the rolling kumaon hills. We were 2 couples and enjoyed loads of "Me" time in this blessed abode. Whether it was waking up to the call of birds or watching the milky way in the evenings, this was a perfect place for us. Rajat has thought of every tiny thing that could come handy for visitors and that makes this place memorable. He was in touch with us guiding us through the route we should take, places to visit and some of the things to do in and around this property. The caretaker and his family are extremely nice people and only expect a small chat, once in a while. Do carry some vegetables and local produce to cook something of your own, clubbed with some bread, butter and eggs for that lovely breakfast with tea. After all, this is a place for you to do things that you can do at home, but with an extreme sense of leisure and calmness! I strongly recommend this place to anyone who needs loads of peace, time to think and "Me" time. Thank you Rajat, see you soon.

    Arvind2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is your perfect dream getaway...far from the mad mad world! It's exactly as it looks in the images, Rajat's road directions were accurate and my family loved the stay. The caretaker family is great and as someone mentioned before... Awsome RajmaChawal! We are definitely going back. The only thing that can be better is the availability of wardrobe space ( they were pre filled with blankets etc. However the caretaker did make some space when we requested) Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us.

  • This was our second trip to Mukteshwar and we thoroughly enjoyed the calmness and natural beauty of this place. The cottage has breath taking views and is very conveniently located. It is very comfortable and cozy place to spend quality time with family and close friends. The cottage is well equipped and the care taker Panditji and his family take good care of your needs. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Rajat's cottage and enjoy the natural beauty of Mukteshwar.

  • My stay with Ash and Dolly would be a reference for all my future airbnb stays. I got more than what I expected and it had been a pleasure to connect with them. I went to Dehradun as a solo traveller but all my apprehensions of safety disappeared when I started interacting with them. The comfort and amenities were excellent and so were the hosts. There is nothing to complain about. If you are in Dehradun and searching for accomodation, your search can stop at this place.

    shravanthi2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • The experience of staying at Ash's place was really wonderful and a great experience. Stayed here in the last week of May 2017 with family (including elders). At first was skeptical about what we would be experiencing but on staying at this place we experienced what a Super host is (in both Ash and Dolly). They were really particular about our comfort and saw to it that the guests are first and everything else comes later. They are a lovely couple and a commendable host who would always prioritize the comfort of the guests over every thing else.

  • A very cosy place with warm hosts, this is the best place if you want a mix of laid back vacation with good conversations along with the easy accessibility to the top places to visit in Dehradun. I am definitely coming back to this place whenever I go to Dehradun and strongly recommend this place. The washrooms were neat and clean and the breakfast is made as per your taste! Ash uncle really goes out of the way to ensure you have a happy stay.

    Viren2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • My first Airbnb stay, home away from home. Great hosts and great stay. I was travelling alone and after an exhausting trek Ash was kind and very patient enough to guide me to reach their place. Really wish I could stay here for a longer time and explore Dehradun. Look forward to stay here again.

  • We had an awesome stay. The place was clean. Well maintained. A perfect getaway. Ash and Dolly ensured we had everything we needed. It felt like visiting a family member. They provided some great insights on the surrounding places to visit and good places to eat. We hope to visit them again soon.

  • Beautiful and clean rooms, the couple will ensure that they leave no stones unturned to make you feel comfortable. Centrally located, you stay in tune with the hustle of the city, while at the same time, the area os quiet enough for a peaceful sleep. Would definitely recommend for solo travelers and couples. Thanks Ash and Dolly! :)

  • If you're looking to stay in Landour, do Not miss this cottage. The Redburn Lodge is gorgeous, so beautifully done up - it's classy yet cozy. We were two couples staying here, and since the house has 3 bedrooms, the space seemed extremely indulgent for the 4 of us. It's a 10 minute walk from Char Dukaan - the hub of eateries. The caretaker Hansi is so sweet - she cooked and cleaned and took good care of us. Mala was only a phone call away and gave excellent suggestions. Two days were spent soaking in the nature around Redburn with cups of chai, and the relaxed beauty that is Landour. Thank you for everything Mala!

    Latika2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very well maintained and tastefully kept. It's the perfect getaway from the madness, hustle and bustle and heat of the metros. Mala was very considerate to always check on our well being & comfort while we were there. Most wonderful experience.

    Kashish2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, this is not the place for someone who intends to have a boisterous party / who love to spend hours shopping in places such as Mall Road. If you are looking for complete R & R with your close friends / family and kids then this is the perfect place for you. I spent 2 nights here with my friends and family and it was a 10 on 10 experience for me. The cottage is tastefully furnished with a wonderful view of Mussorie. I stayed there during Diwali, so it was all the more beautiful. The first thing you notice about the place is the warmth and the impeccable cleanliness of everything. Hansi, the caretaker of the lodge is amazing in her attention to detail and her willingness to accommodate even complicated requests, arranging for coal etc. for a barbecue (Yes we did barbecue too there). The viewpoints of Lal Tibba and Sister Bazaar are at walkable distance from the place as well. I would suggest a walk to sister bazaar and a visit to Landour Bakehouse for the most amazing croissants and cakes. The main restaurants in Mussorie are at a distance of 30 minutes walk. However we had wonderful dinner cooked in-house by Hansi ji. The groceries etc. can also be arranged for by her with prior intimation. Overall it was the perfect vacation for me. One word of caution is that the roads in Mussorie / Landour are not built for handling heavy traffic loads and therefore be prepared for a wait stuck in traffic if you are visiting on a long weekend.

  • Our stay at redburn was a memorable and wonderful experience. We travelled with our old parents and they thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and sincerity shown towards us on top of the view, climate and comforts of the house.

    Balaji2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very well located. Neat & clean and has all the amenities one would need. The caretaker and owner were extremely helpful. Made for a perfect family vacation.

  • Mala was a great host (The best in Airbnb circuit).. She was constantly in touch with us to check our well being.. Hansi the care taker was very helpful and polite.. In addition she can cook a decent meal.. We were a group of 6 people from the hustle and bustle of a city.. Staying at this pollution free serene place called Redburn Lodge is to experience heaven just at 8500 ft altitude... The property overlooks the valley and oh boy the view was amazing.. The interiors were great and well thought of. If you are a vivid book reader you may have many spots to read your book and enjoy nature both at the same time... Its just about 2 weeks since we left the place and we are already making our plans to come back and feel the clouds at our feet.

    Aravind2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed at. It’s beautiful and quant. One can easily get food delivered or visit nearby food joints. The place is nicely and thoughtfully done. Hansi, the helper/cook is hospitable and welcoming. I occupied the room on the first floor which has a scenic view that one must experience. People from Delhi NCR should definitely consider this place because of the accessibility. The host, Mala is really helpful and accommodating.

The quiet; the sound of the wind in the pine trees; the expansive view of the valley and the option of opting out of the world. The local entertainment is walking in the forest - Shitlakhet a hill top is a 45 minute easy trek from the cottage along an ancient, beautiful forest trail. If you are lucky, you could also spot a leopard, a jackal or a fox from the elevated "look out" style, covered verandah of the cottage, at dawn or at dusk. But don't worry, they do not enter the property. Alternatively, you could stroll to the local village (2 km) either by the forest trail or along the paved public road for gossip, a cup of tea or a glass of "straight from the cow" milk, at Raju's - a local tea shop. Sorry, there are no pizzas or ice cream available locally.
  • Me and my friends had a chance to stay at this place for 3 days. I really wish that I had few more days to stay. The place is heaven for people who admire nature's peace , silence and beauty. The place was unsoiled and hygienic. Mr. Sanjeev was very helpful and gave us all the necessary information. The caretaker of the house was on his toes for everything that we needed. I would definitely like to come back to this place and spend at least a week.

  • Set in splendid isolation with a stunning view of the Indian Himalayas,VIDYUNS consists of 2 homes, The UP and The Down. I visited this place with 4 of my friends in the month of december and I can say that I have got an experience of lifetime. We can never forget this beautiful place and the beautiful home. After travelling for long from Delhi when we reached VIDYUNS , the beauty of the place took away all our exertion. Mr Anand Singh(caretaker) help us making tea as well as dinner. We were carrying all the raw materials with us which would be advisable for all people visiting this place. But house is equipped with all amenities which make you feel at home. Last day before coming back to delhi Mr Anand , burnt a bonfire for us which really made our evening. Above all , Mr Ahlu is very helpful in all regards. I called him several times and disturbed him a lot as we made some wrong turn on the way to almora. But he cooperated a lot. I am surely going back to this place.

  • The Up @ Dhamas is a beautiful place in splendid isolation tucked away between Shitalakhet and Kosi. Just 250 m from a newly laid road, the cottage is hidden amongst the pines. It offers a great view of the hills across, a lovely trail behind to explore, a variety of birds to admire through the day, and modern amenities in a very tastefully and intelligently designed cottage, where you will spend your days in the huge balcony overlooking the Himalayan peaks. We enjoyed cycling on the practically traffic free roads and walking and running in the trail. The people of the neighborhood are simple, polite people and would love to interact with you. The hosts were holidaying at the Down and we had the pleasure of meeting them. Highly knowledgable and well read on a variety of topics, they can make interesting conversation if you feel the need for human interaction. They are equally adept at staying out of your way. All in all, we had a great time and are looking forward to our next opportunity to visit.

    Srinivas2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really beautiful , the first thing we see when we wake up is the morning is the snow clad peaks of the mighty Himalayas. The house is well maintained, feels just like home. The care take Anand is a very nice man, we had dinner with him and he shared wonderful stories with us. This was the first time I booked a home stay and it was fantastic.

    Hitesh 2016-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, with picturesque back ground of The Himalayas from the balcony. Nice lawn to laze around in the mornings. Good collection of books to dive into. Forest trial to the nearby village is must do. Thanks to the continuous follow up of Mr Sanjeev with the routes and valuable suggestion for the nearby locations. Mr Anand Singh and Mr Raju took care of our daily needs, so we were fully enjoying every minutes.

  • I have stayed at numerous places all across the hill states of Himachal and Uttarakhand and rarely i have come across a place that not only is perfect but makes your holiday an unforgettable experience . I stayed at the stunning cottage for 3 nights with my family(including pet dog ) . The cottage speaks of the great love the owner has for the place from small things like toiletries to cutlery are of highest possible standards . We were kept informed and well guided about the location all through our drive from Delhi . Once we reached we were treated to stunning views of the Himalayas and freshest possible food . i being a happy cook made the best use of the kitchen and was happy with all the support extended by the caretaker . In the end this place makes up for the dream getaway from the maddening crowd . I highly recommend this place to anyone . We will surly make this place as a regular holiday place for my family . Sanjeev is a gracious host helping families like us have the joy of enjoying nature at its best . Thanks a ton!!

  • This is my first stay "air bnb" style stay and thanks to this amazing property and experience i dont think i want to go back staying in hotels. I travelled with my wife and dog and all three of is had a great time. P.S Try and carry your groceries. Supplies nearby are limited. Though the kitchen is well equipped.

  • Sanjeev and Vidyun were proactive hosts & helpful throughout. They were in touch a few days before we were to arrive, and always relayed necessary information in a timely manner. They set us up with a very reliable driver (Raj / Scorpio) from Kathgodam. The drive was 4 hours & INR 3500 (each way). The caretakers (Anandji & his son) were really helpful - kept the house neat and were able to make good homely food. We were lucky to meet with Vidyun and Sanjeev while we were at the cottage and spent Diwali with them. The house was adequate for a family of four, and had wonderful views of Trishul & Nanda Devi from the balcony. A near-perfect experience for us, with poor WiFi being the only downside. If you need to stay connected, I'd recommend getting an internet dongle with you. Highly recommend this place to those looking for a quiet stay in the hills with great walking tracks (through pine forests) right from the doorstep!

  • This was my second visit to Mr. and Mrs. Pant. This time I visited Bhimtal with my wife. We reached 2 am in early morning but still uncle was there to receive us. He made sure we are comfortable. We were greeted with Home baked cake and a great red wine. Staying with uncle and aunty and sharing stories with them is always great way to relax and spend time in bhimtal. Both of them are full of life and make their guests feel at home. The property is located next to Bhimtal and one gets splendid view of the lake and mountain range. For our family it is like a vacation home. We look forward to meet uncle and aunty pretty soon. swapnil

  • We had originally booked our stay for 3 days in Nainital for the weekend. 5 minutes into our entry into a pricey hotel in Nainital, and the polluted air, we fired up Airbnb to see if we can get something better around. 5 seconds into Airbnb and we found Hari and Kum Kum's abode. An hour later in the middle of the night they were outside their beautiful home ready to welcome us. The air smelled fresh, of fruits growing in their yard, of petrichor from the drizzle. Already 5 on 5. We wanted something comfortable yet spartan. It's The location of the homestay is perfect. With a view of the Bhimtal Lake. The lake itself is a 2 minute walk. While all facilities are available, including a fully functional kitchen, we urban souls avoided them. We chatted with our hosts and their workers and learnt so much about their farming teaching, traveling. One regret, we read a lot about Kumkums cooking. Sadly we couldn't experience it. With the abundance, organic fruit, one meal of Maggi a day (from a vendor right next doors) and just simple toast and butter in breakfast. Things we Delhi dwellers otherwise don't really get a chance to digest - including the idleness, the chirping birds, the fresh air and the weather. During the checkout, we received a huge bunch of litchees from tree right outside our cottage. Thank you for that. We thoroughly enjoyed watching them ripen over the next 2 days and reminded us of the wonderful time we had. Even till today. The cottage is safe, and will be great with kids and solo travelers. I would highly recommend it! Next time we will definitely look forward to sample Kumkums cooking.

  • We had a wonderful stay at the Guesthouse. The hosts are a very welcoming and warm couple who made us feel at home. The location is wonderful and the place is very well maintained. All the amenities provided are as described. We got a wonderful surprise as Kum Kum baked a delicious fruit and nut cake for our son's birthday. We would highly recommend staying here for a quiet and peaceful vacation in a charming neighborhood and with great company. Will definitely look forward to come back here soon :)

  • Hari and Kum Kum are great hosts. We liked the place as described. It faces the lake and just perfect for the weekend trip!

  • Hari and Kumkum's place is a lovely little cottage bang on Bhimtal, which is a part of a British era bunglow which is more than 100 years old but have been impeccably maintained by the elderly couple. It is basically a 1 bhk with a seating area, a bedroom with 1 double bed and 2 single beds, a bathroom with both western and Indian toilets and geyser and a kitchen with microwave, water heater and a refrigerator. They even provided some fresh fruits and tea and coffee kits. There were also lots of books for the reader in you. There are a lot of restaurants in walkable distance. There are options for home cooked food or using the kitchen on your own, at an additional cost. They provided lovely homemade breakfast- aloo parantha on one day and poori bhaji on the other day. The hosts were great to talk to and were always available for help. An addition is their great knowledge for natural remedies and organic products. They even have an organic farm from where you can get something back for your home. In totality a great stay at a great location which is bang on Bhimatal lake but away from the hustle at the same time. Our little one also had a great time with the kids of the caretaker Sushila, who adds up as a good cook too. We came back with lovely memories and would love to return again.

  • Deepali kosta kabi to Airbnb 0 minutes agoDetails My journey with airbnb started with a doubt. I was looking for home stays at Dehradun.I came across the listings at airbnb of a beautiful bungalow with a picture of Poonam (the owner). Instinctively something clicked I sent my request which was instantly accepted although I still had my doubts. After booking successfully I could speak to Poonam. Her warm and welcoming voice and the way she offered us help was enough to build my trust in the airbnb enterprise. After landing in Dehradun we headed to the bungalow at dalanwala , Nemi street. As we entered the bungalow we were welcomed by Poonam and Ajayji. They had stepped out of their bungalow to greet us and this felt like family. We were immidiately treated to a warm cup of tea and snacks at their residence. Our place of stay above their bungalow felt exactly like home. Rooms were spacious clean well furnished with a big terrace balcony extending to a beautiful view all around. Every need was looked after. The early morning breakfast was an absolute treat and was served with so much elegance.Certain food items prepared from there home grown mangoes were sheer delight. We had to head off for some immidiate purchases for our child's hostel requirements. We had barely mentioned this to them and they instantly began calling up people to ensure that we did not have to trouble ourselves to much moving around Dehradun and searching for things. This only happens in a family where there are elders to guide and help you. Not once did they make us feel that they were doing such favours. When we returned at night after the work, our table was already laid with delicious and sumptuous dinner with lovely Makhane ki kheer. Our rooms were clean and kitchen requirements were replenished. We did not remember any incident where we had to ask them anything. The day we left it was so kind of them to invite us to their residence for a cup of tea and spend time with us before we finally bid them adieu. Their love and affection was so strong and attracting that on our way back to Dehradun airport after ten long days in Mussoorie, we could not resist paying them a visit once again just to say hello. It was such a sweet gesture on their part to keep some plants ready from their garden as parting gifts for us. Just two days visit and there is so much we have taken back from them. Very thankful to airbnb for connecting us to Poonam and Ajayji. Regards! Deepali and Neeraj kabi

  • Excellent location to stay in Dalanwala, Dehradun. The house is very well maintained and has all the facilities for a comfortable stay. The best part is the hospitality of Mr and Mrs Singh. They are very warm and welcoming and go completely out of the way to make their guests comfortable during the stay. Will I stay there again ? - Absolutely, whenever I will visit Doon with family, there is no reason for me to look for any alternative.

    NEERAJ2016-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in the Bunglow Retreat for 4 days with my family and it was such a wonderful stay. The highlight of our stay was the hospitality extended by Mr and Mrs. Singh. We really enjoyed chatting with the soft spoken and well travelled couple. And I must add that Poonam aunty's great culinary skills was an icing on the cake. The Bunglow treat is a spacious property which is tastefully decorated and is a great place to breath in some fresh air and relax. I will definitely revisit whenever I'm headed towards Dehradun next and will highly recommend this to anyone headed this way.

  • The Bungalow Retreat is in a good location with a very nice coffee shop closeby. It is located near Welham Girl's school and is in a peaceful area. The place is beautifully surrounded by a well maintained garden rich with variety of trees & plants. The breakfast was amazing and Poonam really respected our request by serving hot Aloo Paratha's one morning. The hosts were warm, friendly and amazing people to be around, they seemed like family. Lovely big 1st floor setup with 2 big bedroom, a huge tv area, a kitchen and a dinning space, all spec clean.

  • Both Poonam aunty and Ajay uncle were wonderful hosts. They were always happy to help us. Right from the time of enquiry, aunty was very friendly and helpful. She took care of our likes and dislikes very nicely and served us delicious breakfast everyday which she makes herself. Poonam aunty is a very nice baker too. She gave us delicious muffins made by her at the time of our departure for the road. The house is a pretty place to live in with a beautiful garden which is full of home grown fruits and flowers. In all true sense its our home away from home. Staying at their place never felt like we were renting it, the environment was always very homely. Aunty n uncle treated us like family Would definitely recommend this place for your stay!

  • An absolutely wonderful experience. The flat is comfortable and tastefully furnished, with a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. Poonam and Ajay are far more than helpful hosts who do whatever they can to help; they truly welcomed us into their home and hearts.

  • The place was great. We reached there late, thanks to two fussy infants and a tyre puncture. The hosts maintained contact and offered help regarding the directions. The description mentioned on Airbnb was accurate and it was easy to find the place. The kitchen had all the essentials, down to a pressure cooker - a blessing for us because we had to cook a bit for the babies. The place was clean and well-maintained. We borrowed some sugar and butter and they gladly helped. They also showed us their garden and gave us a piece of "donkeytail" plant because I'm fond of gardening. It was fun talking with them. The stay was cool and comfortable. They also made aloo ki paraunthi for my little one :) I would certainly recommend it to others.

  • Ever host that goes above and beyond! The house is lovely and the patio is a nice place to retreat. When we told Mousumy we were interested in birds, she loaned us a book from library Upon arrival we were invited to a festival with her friend, which was quite a treat! Meals were very tasty, and we even got a demo of rotis being made. Mousumy helped with transport and communication when we needed it. If you like a host who is very engaged, I can recommend this stay.

  • A SUPERSTAY by a SUPERHOST, “Lily of the Valley Homestay” is a true home away from home and my best homestay experience by far. A big Thanks to Mousumy, Yogendra and sweetest Mimmi for making the stay a memorable one. To summarize the stay: •Brilliant communication from booking until check out •A warm welcome with drink of your choice •Neat and Tidy room with all the required facilities and housekeeping •Comfy double bed •A perfect terrace to enjoy morning and evening tea or reading books with a view of Mussoorie •Yummylicious food •Caring people and playing with Mimmi was an add on A warm welcome from family was enough to take away the travel fatigue and fresh cup of masala tea from Mousumi was icing on the cake. I must say Mousumi is a fantastic cook and you should opt for home food than ordering from outside. And the fresh litchi juice from her garden was priceless. Yogendra was like one man army who could fix “I mean literally” anything by himself plus a complete guide to Dehradun. Their knowledge on topics is awesome. It was very kind of them to take me out to FRI, and other scenic spots in Dehradun. They have surely earned a long term guest in me whenever I am in Dehradun. A total of 7Stars.

  • Mousumy gave us the warmest of arrivals, she is a wonderful hostess, trying in every way to please her guests. She gave us information in the area and accommandied us on some of our journeys. Mousumy is an accomplished cook she even gave me some lessons on how to prepare some Indian dishes. We were so pleased we found this kind ladies accommodation.

    Wendy2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Mousumy and Yogendra were most helpful and welcoming. They helped me settle and offered help, encouragement and their friendship. Mousumy also happens to be a great cook and an engaging conversationalist. In a nice residential area, down a quiet a quiet cul-de-sac, Mousumy and Yogendra have crated this beautiful and welcoming family home. They go out of the way to make one feel at home and offer help without asking. I could not have asked for a better place to stay in Dehradun.

  • It was absolutely wonderful to go to our 'home away from home' again. Mousumy our host welcomed Deepa and I as old friends - it was so good to be there and Mimi the lab was also very welcoming. We had a wonderful festive home cooked dinner and chatted and chatted. The next morning after a deliciious breakfast, Mousumy drove us to our meeting and then packed dinner for our flight home. As her daughter Attreya rightly said "Mom and her hospitality are special - do not intervene'

    Dinesh2015-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Moumssy is a very like lady and extremely accommodating. I had a very pleasant stay in her large house with a lovely garden and views of the distant mountains. It was particularly nice to stay in a dust free room with dust free bed sheets. Nice quiet location.

    Laura2017-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Home Away From Home is truly that for me! Mousumy is a wonderful host and Yogen, when around, is a great company, very helpful and friendly. The accommodation, as mentioned in my earlier review, was clean and well maintained. Mousumy is a great cook and conversationalist and takes great care to accommodate guest's needs and preferences. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The locality is good - it is easy to go for a morning walk to the Forrest Research Institute; they kindly lent me a bicycle, which made my sojourn to the FRI even better. I felt privileged to be there. Highly reccommended!

  • True Airbnb Experience is the first thing that comes to my mind. Sameer and Samar are awesome hosts and really cool people. The place is furnished beautifully and the room is super comfortable. The kitchen had essentials and other necessities were easily available very near to the house to whip up a good meal. Kamla who is the caretaker lives there with her family, she is a very warm person and made delicious food for us . There is a lot to see around but even if you're not in the mood to venture too far or the weather isn't right, you can have an amazing time sitting out on the verandah and reading. Basically, the place was so comfortable, the people so warm, that I did not want to come back! And I definitely shall go back as soon as I find time! :)

  • It was a very nice comfortable stay at Pindari Cottage with my family. Description of Pindari Cottage: A place of calmness, peacefulness & ssrenity etc. with all modern equipments which is required to live is there in the cottage. Persons: Sameer(Owner of the House): Best line suggested by my father ‘One Man Army’ to take care of my stay though he was not there but provide each and every assistance to me. Kamala Aunty(Care-taker of the cottage): She provide you all the things which you need and she make excellent tea which remove all your stress of travelling and very laborious person. Gyan Chand(Husband of Kamala aunty): He is the person who feel happy with your happiness when you share about your travelling. Sanju(Son of Kamala Aunty) He is very knowledgeable about the place to visit as well as very soft spoken person. The difference of stay at cottage from hotel is that you feel the place as of yours and give you relax as your home provides. Believe me this Pindari Cottage is far from the crowdy place like mall road where you conduct a war to park your car and overhere all the things belongs to you. The things never missed in this cottage are Bonfire (if temperature is cold), and Tea sip morning in balcony where you get mental peace. Thank You Sameer for such a nice accommodation of homely feel and such a nice hosting. MUST VISIT FOR EVERYONE

  • We had been thinking for a long time to do a home stay via Airbnb but every time ended up staying in a hotel. This year I was adamant and completely skipped hotels during our vacation, I planned a short and a quick vacation to Nainital with my husband, my daughter who is 5 and our house help was also with us. While browsing through various home stay options came across Pindari Cottage- and I was STUCK. Stuck by the beautiful facade and lawns in the pictures. We were not even a bit disappointed when we saw the property physically. Cottage is really beautiful and tastefully done. It's a cute little cottage with one bedroom, Drawing-Dining and kitchen. Drawing room has a pull out sofa cum bed which can easily accommodate two people. Before reaching we were a bit skeptical on location and the property, but to our pleasant surprise it is located at a peaceful location in Bhimtal which is about 16 kms from Nainital. For location it won't be an issue if you are travelling by your own car, but since we had gone by train so frequenting nearby towns was a bit of challenge, renting a car is a bit expensive as from cottage to Nainital drop off was for 1000 bucks. We anyway were not keen to stay in hustle-bustle of Nainital Town so for us in suited just to our liking and taste. Sameer our host was very helpful and always available to answer any query we had, he ensured that we are comfortable and enjoying our stay- Host doesn't stay at the property but has a caretaker and her family. Caretaker Kamla Aunty is a wonderful ever smiling lady. We got her food supplies and she treated us to tasty home cooked food for all 3 days. Now comes the cherry on the cake - The Bar-be-que in the lawns- Kamla aunty's son is an amateur chef he treated us to delectable BBQ Chicken, vegetable and tasty biryani. All in all it was a great experience, we plan to visit this place again sometime during October. We highly recommend this place to people who find hotels boring like we do.

  • An absolutely stunning place nested in the lap of the hills. The calmness and serenity of this place will, almost certainly, rejuvenate you. Kamla Aunty was of great help and addressed all our requirements with a smiling face. Made the greatest local food and set up the Barbeque and Bon Fire for us. Partying in the wilderness of hills is an altogether different experience in itself. The hospitality, the place and everything else associated with it made our stay absolutely awesome! Thank you for this!

  • Pindari's cottage is a hidden gem. If you like nature this is the place to be. The cottage is straight out of a fairytale storybook - It gives you that kind of look n feel. Top it up with a great host Sameer who will patiently answer all your queries n clarify your doubts. The cottage gives you warm comforting feeling in the lap of nature yet easily accessible by road. Centrally located, it has Bhimtal on one side and Nainital on the other. Kamla Aunty and her son Sanju are excellent care takers who not only help you with your cooking needs at a nominal daily fee but also help arrange taxi, local sight seeing excursions. Food cooked by Kamla Aunty is hygienic, fresh n tasty. Don't expect restaurant type of food but if you like tasty home cooked food then you would know what I mean. Sanju too is always ready n available to help. Sameer, the owner is an excellent host and will answer all your queries patiently. I stayed here for 3 nights with my wife n 6 year old daughter. My daughter had a lot of fun. The cottage is easily accessible by road. Its clean, beautiful n peaceful - worth every penny spent ! Would surely come back ...

  • The stay at pindari cottage was by far the best place we have stayed at, in our 14 day trip across uttarakhand. It was neat, homely, well maintained and had a well serviced kitchen. We absolutely enjoyed spending time in the living room, and the verandah. In the night the cottage looks stunning due to the warm lighting inside with those simple cane lampshades. The use of pinewood and natural stone added to the ambience. The entire cottage is surrounded by beautifully chirping birds and flowers. Kamala didi and sanju were of great help. Kamala didi's homely cooking skills are well appreciated and sanju was prompt to our queries. Thank you sameer for making our trip pleasant and worthwhile. Would love to come here again. Although i feel the lack of a tv was the only drawback here.

Sadhana Forest Villa is located 22 kms away from the hustle and bustle of Doon city. You’re sure to love our amazing mountain views, with lots of greenery, crisp clean air & clouds that you can almost touch. We also have a small bubbly stream that likes to sing at night & disappears into the thick jungles. Guests love our warm cozy kitchen with all the modern amenities they need as well as our home cooked food and hospitality. We treat you as family.
Our place is a great fit for couples, solo adventurers and backpackers, families (with kids) and even small groups. We don’t have WiFi here, but you could just take a break and connect with nature instead :) The space is a quiet, green villa with 2 bedrooms with direct stream access to fresh water to splash around in.
We are a secluded property that advertises itself on exclusivity and a connection with nature - you won't find hustle and bustle around our property. There are no noisy neighbours, no stray dogs, no horns honking. All you have is your own company, the music of the stream, the occasional bleating of the village sheep and your own books and playing cards to help you relax and unwind.
  • Simple, beautiful place in a very secluded location. Sadhana ensured all arrangements were made in order to make our stay extremely comfortable. Caretakers gave us a lot of privacy and served amazing food as per our requirements.

  • This was our first stint with airbnb and we were apprehensive as we were travelling with our 5 year old. Was amazed by the effort Sadhna put in to make us comfortable right from sending someone to Dehradun to guide us through the hilly terrains, or be it in the form of putting light instrumental music when we arrived (which was resonating across the terrains as darkness was setting in) Those who love the Dominos and KFC's by their staying location - this is certainly not the place. But if you are to soak in nature, with a stream flowing below your cottage (the sound of which can defeat insomnia hands down), this is THE destination. You have to get your stuff all packed here as the nearest shop is pretty far, but then thats exactly what we were looking for. We were asked so many times that if we need anything. It was like staying at a friends place over the weekend. Highly recommended for people who love the silence of the hills, with star filled clear skies and the enchanting music of the everflowing stream beneath. The food was homely and extremely healthy.

  • Such a beautiful, serene and peaceful place with breathtaking views of beautiful mountains and forests. The caretakers made good home-made meals. The place was amazingly clean and well kept. Must must must stay here and explore yourself and have fun with your friends and family.

  • I and my wife stayed here for a day, the place is best we ever come across. Well-placed in mountains, very peaceful. Ms. Sadhna is an excellent hostess, received a quick response on booking. Caretaker Hemu is an excellent cook and takes care of all queries. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely come back.

    Ankit2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • The property was beautiful and scenic, and Sadhna was a wonderful host to us. She gave us very specific and to the point instructions. The place was excellently set-up, and we were well taken care of, and the guys who manage it make excellent food. The chai is particularly tasty, and the vegetables are fresh and organic. The views were spectacular, and there was a river within the property where you could just sit and relax. The interiors were amazingly beautiful, and the lack of cell phone connectivity was for me a huge plus. I'd definitely visit again, and I'd like to make another shoutout to Sadhna for being an incredibly gracious host, and giving us a little tour of Dehradun herself as well. Thanks a load for this memorable trip! :D

  • the hostess was exceptionally warm and willing to help and accommodate us. she kept constant vigilance on our arrival, food and over all living. the staff was polite and willing. the food tasted great, though it was a little too expensive. for a place that is so remote, home cooked veg meals should not have to cost so much money. i think it is important to inform the the visitors about the location and remote neighbourhood of the house, so that they can carry some packed food, medications etc. we were not very hungry because there have been no activities, but we still ended up paying full money for the small meals we ate which made us feel cheated.

  • Sadhna's place is an absolute gem if you reach early in the evening or in the afternoon. We reached late at night due to our circumstances and hence the drive was feeling to be a bit risky as the house is at a remote place. The cleanliness of the house was top notch. We were exceptionally well greeted and treated by the staff in the best way possible. The meals were tasty and all other needs were taken care of by the staff which Sadhna had assigned. Simply 10/10 experience. Just reach this place while there is still sunlight otherwise the area being very remote, can be risky to drive at night

  • if u wanna be in nature with sound of the stream in ur ears all the time .. at the same time good food , clean rooms , clean every thing then u should go this place. totally in love with this place . thanks Sadhna for this experience. see you soon next yr.

Beechwood Apartments are located in the hills of Mussoorie, facing the beautiful expanse of the Doon Valley. Each Apartment is tastefully furnished and has a beautiful un-interrupted view of the Doon Valley.
The top portion of the property touches the Mall Road, which is a few minutes walk from the Apartments. A Mussoorie visit demands a walk along Mall Road and The Camels back Road which is again walking distance from our place. A trip to Landour and Char Dukan is a must too. Kempty Falls and Company Bagh are other attractions. As we are located very close to the Mussoorie Taxi/Bus stand. It makes it very easy for our guests to commute anyhwere in Mussoorie within no time. Dhanaulti has picturesque views and is about 15-20 minutes by car from our place.
  • Great stay! The view is spectacular. The apartment is fully equipped with all kitchen utensils and refrigerator. Small trek direct to mall road is additional advantage. Great for a group of friends who want to sit, drink and relax.

  • We really enjoyed staying @ holiday apartments. Warm welcome, clear communication, service oriented and we felt very comfortable staying over there. I should really appreciate servant Anu for her wonderful service during our stay. Strongly recommend to stay over there and enjoy mussoorie. Dhun valley view from this apartment was really fantastic.

  • This place has multiple apartments. We stayed in Studio Apartment .. that was too good. Very well maintained , spacious, super clean and well connected to main road. We had a very good time there.☺️ And most important thing that hosts were wonderful and care taker was available all the time.

    Priyanka2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The place : a lovely Estate that offers unmatched views of the valley. The bedrooms are cosy and the sheets clean. Toiletries are provided and seemed of good quality (I did not use them) The host : great at communicating and suggesting places one could visit during the stay. The caretaker is very hospitable and cooks great food. Simple but amazing! (just like how I like it). 5/5 overall.

    Sachin2016-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for 2 days with my family. The day before the check-in I got a msg from the host about our check-in time. She explained the route in detail. On the day of check-in we got a call from the care taker Anu. She asked us if we would like to eat there or outside. There was clear communication. The place is very easy to find. Mall road is 5 min trek. There are many shops and restaurants on mall road. It's a 3bhk apartment. The rooms are spacious and view from Hall and one of the bedroom is amazing. For food you have three options either you can cook yourself, ask Anu to cook for you or eat outside. You will get all ingredients from mall road. We had a very comfortable stay here. We enjoyed a lot.

  • The place is really awesome and nicely located. Just 5 mins walk from mall road and has brilliant view from living room as well as master bed room. The staff is very polite and helping and cooked us delicious meal for a nominal charge of 400/lunch and 200/breakfast. Her grandmother also stays in adjacent home and is always welcoming for chatter. :). All in all best experience in Mussorie, will highly recommend it to all the travellers.

    Parth2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed this trip with home made food outside food and excellent valley view. In fact host was very friendly and we all were feeling at home. The main attraction was its valley view from living room and one of the bedroom.

My place is nestled in the heart of the 'Queen of Hills-Mussoorie'. Located on the top of a hillock it offers a 360 degree view with the snow covered Himalayan range on the north and Doon valley on the south. The Victorian era building was built in 1841, this property was owned by the Maharaja of Nabha and was later purchased by the present owner's grandfather in 1928.The building has been fully renovated and combines old world charm and aristocracy with modern comfort.
Nestled in the heart of the 'Queen of Hills-Mussoorie' is Hotel Himalaya Castle. A mid 19th century Victorian era building, it was the main block of the former Himalaya Club estate. Located on the top of a hillock it offers a 360 degree view with the snow covered Himalayan range on the north and Doon valley on the south. The Victorian era building was built in 1841, this property was owned by the Maharaja of Nabha and was later purchased by the present owner's grandfather in 1928. It was taken by the British government for a couple of years to house Italian prisoners during Second World War. The building has been fully renovated and combines old world charm and aristocracy with modern comfort. We have Super Deluxe and Deluxe two bedroom Family Suites. Having all modern amenities, such as attached washroom with electric geyser, 24 hours running water, cable T.V, intercom etc. We have an inhouse restaurant serving delicious north Indian style food, cooked fresh on order. Our Dining room has a seating capacity of 50 pax.
  • It is an old property which has been maintained nicely. The rooms are spacious and clean. The location is good and have convenient access to Mall Road or Landor market. The staff is very courteous and polite and always willing to help. The place give you very peaceful and relaxing time. The food provided by the in house kitchen is good except the tea is not upto the mark. The amenities provided are bare minimum like shampoo, electric kettle, tea bags etc are not provided which if provided would have been good. The hotel must keep a medical kit/first aid kit for the guests emergencies. Overall the place provides good value for money and if I have to stay again, I will go to the same place.

  • It is a lovely place and as shown on the website. The place is clean and the staff are courteous and friendly. It's a place for those seeking some quiet and great views.

  • We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Located close to Picture Palace Road and tons of restaurants. Communication with Pranav was quick and efficient; we tried breakfast one day which was pretty good. A quick taxi ride takes you to Landour and back. Rooms were large and we were allowed to check-in slightly earlier and check out late which was great. Loved the rustic charm although it would be nice to have internet access (Pranav said that it was hard to get a good signal here).

    Sherestha2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • A charming colonial hotel property poised perfectly at the cusp of Mussourie and Landour, this is a great airbnb option for travelers who seek a vintage experience of both historical towns. We had some great scenic views from the property itself. I recommend you carry a copy of the book 'Mussourie and Landour' by Ruskin Bond, an amiable companion that provides a nice introduction to the colonial history of both towns. Personally I loved exploring landour more, and the property allows you to trek through the landour bazaar, upto chardukan, lal tibba and sisters bazaar and back- all in a couple of a few hours. Mussourie's mall road is also walkable from the hotel. Our host Pranav is a really lovely person, he made our stay a comfortable and memorable one.

    Rahul2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • The property is situated at an apt location. Not too far from Mall road yet away from all the hustle and bustle of the market. Pranav, our host stays at the property itself which allows the occupant to provide an instant feedback. Pranav is very polite and helpful when it comes to giving directions and tips to see the places around. On reaching there, we learned that breakfast is complimentary upto 150 INR per person. On knowing that we had exceeded the cost, Pranav was kind enough to take care of it for us. Because of the sprawling property that this is, Pranay has converted it into a homestay/hotel where you can order room service and ask to get your room cleaned everyday. The room service folks that he has kept are very warm and friendly. The food tastes like home. The chef is kind enough to cook it according to your taste.

    Anant2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful heritage property. Lot of history hidden in the building. Would recommend to all families and couples. Beautiful quiet place. Pranav is an amazing host and ever ready to answer all your questions. Thanks Pranav. Hoping to see you sometime again.

  • The cottages are amazing. They have an awesome view of both sunrise and sunset. You can sit on the verandah and chill. Diwan ji the caretaker is a charm. He will tell you nice stories and help you around with the stay. Definitely will want to come back again maybe during the winters and see snowfall.

  • This was one of the best home stay experiences. The cottage had a great view, very private and offers peace and serenity making for an absolutely refreshing retreat. Was pleasantly surprised by a neat kitchen, stocked with all necessities and supported by a good care taker. Been there more than once with family and would love to visit again !

  • Charming and Cosy cottage in the middle of natural beauty, it comes with a fully-equipped kitchenette, modern amenities and a splendid view. The balcony offers a view of the rising and the setting sun in the idyllic mountains, a sight to behold. Besides the wonderful features of the cottage, we enjoyed the warm hospitality of the caretaker, Diwan ji, who is a natural resident of the mountains. We recommend the experience to those looking for a break from touristy places and want to experience the depth of the mountains. Supplies can be brought from some small shops nearby and a village a km away, but we personally recommend staying away from packaged stuff for the trip there.

  • Mr Pankaj was a great host ,very helpful but few things were lacking like quilts were very stinky and lot of dust was there...Secondly TV wasn't working till checkout time...These two things should be taken into consideration when travelling with small kids ...

  • Place is very quite, worth to spend the amount-you get every penny worth of it host is too nice to describe, what a traveler needs they have everything to provide. who is going to stay- ask them to cook food for you. "they are the best" I'll be there again.

  • The place is brilliant. Beautifully finished, simply furnished and spacious, with all amenities. I felt immediately comfortable there. Punkaj is a charming and generous guy and dealt with practicalities quickly and without fuss. There was a daily cleaner, and also security on the property, and the location is ideal - quiet and north of the busy town. I recommend it highly, and expect anyone would be well satisfied. Considering my return already. Many thanks Pankaj

  • Pankaj and Alka were wonderful hosts. Too bad our stay was short. The place is in a very quiet residential neighborhood with scenic views (as described). It was very comfortable. Spacious, we did not need to use the 2nd bedroom as were only two traveling. There is a restaurant within walk able distance from the apartment. Once can take the auto (tuk-tuk) to the Pacific Mall nearby for more options. Thoroughly enjoyed the yummy breakfast prepared by Alka :) We appreciate the trip to Shikaner falls - it was gorgeous - beautiful views of the mountains and the trip up to the falls was adventurous. We enjoyed the wonderful conversations over breakfast - covering politics, religion, philosophy, arts, education , etc :) Pankaj also arranged for a car ride from train station on arrival and to the airport on departure. Extremely caring couple. Very comfortable stay. Hope to be back for a longer and relaxed stay.

  • This was our firat Airbnb experience and we were a little skeptical about what we would be faced with. But from the very moment that Mr. Pankaj came to greet us, all our concerns were completely allayed. Both Mr. and Mrs. Pankaj were excellent hosts making everything that we needed available to us at the earliest. The place was clean comfortable and convenient and tips and advice from Mr. Pankaj were very useful. Our family staying there consisted of senior citizens as well as an infant and the place was convenient for everyone. The place had everything and what was not was made available immediately by Mr. and Mrs. Pankaj. Overall, our whole family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Also, a quick mention about Mr. Pankaj's friend Manjit bhqi who was very helpful in getting us the vehicles for our travel even at a very short notice.

    Shyamsundar2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Was travelling with family ( 2 adults and 2 kids) and Dehradun was the transit point. Was looking at comfortable place for a family, without getting in each others way. Pankaj's place was perfect. Away from the noisy part of town, the place is in a gated community just off the Dehradun-mussorie highway. Self contained 2 bed apartment, with a kitchen - ideal when you want to make your own tea or a slice of toast in the morning. Pankaj was very helpful, I had requested him to organise transport from the train station as we were reaching late. Was pleasantly surprised when we found him personally at the station to receive us. What followed completely floored us - as the train was late, he had organised for dinner at his place ( 2 minutes away from the apartment). The apartment is new, very well furnished, almost like a home away from home. there is a small eatery just opposite the community, ok for quick basic snack/meal. One restaurant just next door, although didn't go in. half a KM walk will get you to some OK food joints. Easy transport options into city available - with shared autos plying every 10/15 minutes. Pankaj can easily organise car/taxis very quickly. If you want to be in the city and look around, it might be slightly out of the way. but if you want to chill and relax, this will be the ideal place

    Arun2017-04-15T00:00:00Z

  • A little gem in the Himalayas...and Sheela's place is spectacular. Photographs can never do justice to what the house looks like. Great place to (URL HIDDEN) nothing but just soak in the surroundings. A bird watcher's dream come true. Prem, the caretaker, was super efficient. He does a mean barbecue and that is strongly recommended. I would happily revisit the 3 oaks.

    Rajiv2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in the lap of nature, the accommodation is excellent. The host Sheela was very accommodating in allowing our large group of 9 adults to stay. The hospitality was fantastic and there was constant communication from Sheela, our host and Prem the caretaker cum cook both before and during our stay. The place is cool in the middle of greenery and orchards and secluded from the hustle and bustle of places like Nainital and Almora, yet not too far. The views from the cottage are beautiful, especially the sunset. A must visit anytime of the year!

    Adit2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful lovely place close to nature. Sheela and her care taker are wonderful host and ensures even small issues are taken care well. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommended for families who would like to be bit away from crowd and would like to closer to nature.

  • This quiet and secluded property in Hartola, Uttarakhand is a perfect getaway from the big city atmosphere at any given time of the year. The villa has a modern resonance to it. It overlooks the Himalayan range as well as a part of the valley and has an absolutely surreal and scintillating view. Sheela, the host, was extremely helpful and accurately provided us with every detail from getting to the villa to the domestic help available at her villa. Even though Sheela's based out of France, there was no shortage or lack in communication. In all, I'd suggest everyone to visit this place without any hesitation. Had a wonderful experience!

  • It was a beautiful location with a quaint cottage. Hospitality was great and warm. Would definitely go back!

  • This place is quiet and peaceful. Even the main road is practically devoid of traffic, One can take a stroll at any time of the day. There are numerous birds to keep you company and you are sure to be delighted by the sight of yellow and white daisies lining the road and on just about any space available. The house is lovingly maintained by Mr Prem and his wife who take really good care of the guests and prepare absolutely delectable dishes. We are still licking our fingers ! The apples, peach, plum in the estate orchards were very tasty and the kids enjoyed plucking and eating them. It was a novel experience for them. Children initially may find the place to be too quiet but give them a day and they will fall in love with the place !

  • We had gone for a family (8 members) outing for 3-days and the group included my 80+ years old grandparents & my son whose 18months. And I must say that none of us wanted the stay to end. The house is spacious, comfortable and really well maintained/clean by the help Prem and his wife. They ensured that everything was in place and were always there to help or make our stay comfortable. We were treated to some amazing food (local delicacies included) and fresh fruits from the Plum/Apricot/Apple/Pear Orchards which surround the house. The area is really peaceful and you can lounge around the house reading books or playing board games which are available in the house. And if you are a trek enthusiast then there are a couple of trails which you would enjoy. We did couple of them - turning one into a Fruit Expedition where in we just enjoyed the Fresh Plums & Apples available in abundance. My 18month son also enjoyed the walk through the jungles, where in he enjoyed spotting different birds. The weather was just perfect and luckily it didn't rain , hence we had a really amazing stay. Its a perfect get-away from the city hustle bustle and the greenery/weather helps you detox. Would definitely want to go back!!

  • My first experience with Airbnb...and it revolutionised my concept of 'travel'. It would be unfair to capture my experience at Sinaula Woods in a review. Nevertheless, I will try. As you enter the beautifully-done house, a note greets you: A fisherman lives here (With the Catch of his life). So true (You will realise during your stay here!) You will end up spending most of your time staying put at the house: it is an amazing experience in itself, just going around and appreciating the way the duo have decorated the house. Once you venture out, the hosts would leave no stone unturned to give you the best local experience -- from taking you to the best cafes in town to being the most informative tour guides! Anju Aunty went out of her way to treat my mom and I to scrumptious food (including stacking the fridge with fruits and freshly made juice) while Vishal Sir came down to the bus stop early morning to ensure you get to the home stay smoothly. The Mussoorie trip was the most enjoyable with them. Their gestures most heart-warming: I am so going back again, soon.

  • The Bhatias are two of the most wonderful people we have ever met. They are highly sophisticated, generous to a fault, considerate, thoughtful and meticulous with even the tiniest of details. Their home is a haven of peace, beauty, and comfort. Their hospitality is beyond parallel. I will be going to Dehradun again just to see them again and enjoy their company and their home. I would have awarded ten stars to every aspect of our experience if I had the option. This is the absolute best value for our time and money. While we were there, they learned that airbnb has upgraded them to superhosts. I suggest that they be named star hosts.

  • We stayed with the lovely couple at their place for a night. The lodging Very easy to reach. Very cosy place. The entire floor is available for the guest - lots of privacy. Ample space to lounge around and relax. Terrace with an amazing view. Very clean and functional room. The hosts Both vishal and anju made a lot of effort to ensure we are comfortable and at ease. It was lovely to talk to them and discuss on any topic. We would love to return - this time, with the whole family, and stay here again.

  • We stayed with Colonel Vishal from the 20th till the 22nd October. Me and fiancee moved in to Colonel's place after staying in another BNB on the night of 19th October. Needless to stay staying in at Colonel Vishal's place was the best decision. We stayed on the first floor, the room is very tidy with a beautiful chest of drawers and a walk in closet. There's a small kitchen cabinet outside in the balcony which also serves as a reading/yoga space. The view from the terrace is breathtaking. You can see mussoorie nestled up in the mountains. The best part of the stay was our conversations with Colonel Vishal over breakfast, lunch and dinner. He shared some amazing stories from his time with Armoured Core in the Indian Army. This was a very enriching experience for me and my fiancee. We are really looking forward to our next visit to the Colonel's place. Colonel Vishal is a super host. I would recommend all my friends and family to go and stay in at the Colonel's place.

  • Vishal is a great host and very accomodating. We really felt at home. The house is very nice and our room had complete privacy. The terrace was lovely.

  • Mr Bhatia is a thorough gentleman and received us very well despite our late arrival due to rains. He and the lady of the house are into spirituality and that adds to the peaceful experience of being at their home.

The Burra Bungalow is a beautifully appointed home with an old world colonial charm, tucked away from the bustle of the crowds and yet, a 15-20 minute walk or quick drive from the Mall. It is airy, sunlit and spacious and has a fully equipped kitchen, wifi and television. The private parking can accommodate 3 cars. It offers scenic views and is the perfect place to switch off from the world, inviting you to breathe in the fresh air and reconnect with yourself and your loved ones.
The Burra Bungalow, at the height of 6,500 ft is a 100 year old home that has been modernized. It has wall to wall carpeting that keeps one snug even when it is cold outside. There are three double bedrooms, all with attached bathrooms. The larger two bedrooms' bathrooms have tubs and there is a 24 hour supply of water- a rarity in a hill station- as the place gets water from a private spring as well as the Municipal water supply. It is spacious and has large windows that face both East and West and let in plenty of sunshine and air. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, fridge, washing machine, water purifier and gas connection. There is a house help who will serve you breakfast and make your beds. There are also tea and coffee makers in the rooms for your morning cup of tea. The Burra Bungalow has a large, gated parking which can accomodate upto three cars, should you wish to drive upto Mussoorie. The markets are about a 15 minute walk away and should you wish to order in, there are plenty of places close by that home deliver - home delivery Pamphlets have been placed in the rooms. If the hosts have advance notice, there is a trusted cab driver who can drive down to Dehra Dun and pick you up from the railway station or the airport. The same driver can take you around to places of interest in and around Mussoorie. He will charge you separately for this.
The house is on the Rajpur Road, next to Wynberg Junior School, in an area known as Bala Hissar. Fort Resort is a hotel that is close by.
  • The host, Mrinalini, was very proactive in providing necessary information about the stay and the places to visit in Mussorie. Her mom, welcomed our group with warmth and made all of us comfortable. The stay was very comfortable and the assistance provided in terms of help with cab etc was very helpful. Hemanth, the help, is extremely courteous and always there to help. It was unfortunate that we couldn't spend more time with the hosts, striking conversations because of the tight schedule we had.

  • Home away from home this is exactly how you feel at this bungalow.our stay was for 3 nights n we were two frenz Traveling with our daughters.everyone around us were a bit anxious about our stay at a homestay but let me tell you all it was the best bnb experience of our travels till date...the house is fully carpeted and well decorated with antique furniture.hemant the caretaker helped us with all our needs like sterilizing my baby's bottle , ordering food from nearby Restaurants.Geeta Didi cooked delicious local food for us and took great care of my baby while i enjoyed the sumptuous meal. My frenz daughter Meethi played a lot with all the three friendly dogs named Hope, Kajri and Megha.while she played with dogs we got our girlie time together. our hosts Manu Aunty &uncle took great care of us. Mrinalini helped us plan our itinerary and was constantly in touch with us. Our trip wouldn't have been complete without Khushal Singh's driving skills . he's humble and has good knowledge about the city. Thank you all once again for a lovely stay . I highly recommend this place for all Traveling to Mussorie .

  • Burra Bungalow is well located - away from the noise, but just far enough to walk to Mall Road. It may be a bit of a walk if you have senior citizens in your group. The house itself is really beautiful and cozy. You really get the feel of what it is like to be part of an old Mussorie family. We saw a Langoor on arrival and several parakeets. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff, led by Hemanth are superb. Tasty home cooked food and yummy deserts and fruits. We travelled with my 15 month old son - Hemanth (who has a daughter the same age), was super helpful in preparing his baby food for trips and helping sterilise the bottles. Aunty Manu and Unlce Rautela gave us really good tips about places to visit and brought us up to speed on some of the history in the area. All in all a wonderful place to stay. Its homely, comfortable and a great place to unwind. Thank you for a memorable holiday.

  • I would like to thank Mrinalini for hosting us in their beautiful home in Mussoorie. There is so much to say about this incredible bungalow. Right from the time of booking to our stay to check-out, there was warmth and comfort at every step and our 3 day stay went beyond expectations. We were travelling with 2 toddlers and the house help Hemant took care of their separate meals, bottle washing, milk, etc. He truly made it feel like a holiday for the tired mommies. The house is very well kept and the host took care to remove all sensitive/ breakable items before our arrival - safely away from the toddler boys :) The food was delicious and served hot even at 3 pm when we arrived. Nothing could be better than that - no hassles of ordering, etc. Mrinalini's mom visited us a couple of times during the stay from her home adjacent to this property and ensured that we were comfortable. We enjoyed our morning cup of tea in their beautiful terrace overlooking the valley. The rooms are spacious and cosy, the drawing room is huge and the fact that the house is fully carpeted makes it absolutely kid friendly. Hemant also helped us arrange cabs for travelling to the mall road and Landour - both are 20 mins away. Thanks again and we are sure to visit again.

  • The place was very neat clean and I really enjoyed the hospitality and space. It was great for a family. However, the views were restricted and I thought it was expensive after adding taxes etc.

  • An outstanding experience if you are looking for a relaxed holiday ! The hospitality is way beyond expectation! A special word for the caretaker Hemant, who spoils you rotten with his prompt service and great food!

  • Just the perfect getaway if you're looking for a family trip to Mussorie. The bungalow is tucked away from the glimmering Mall road and yet is at an easily walkable distance from the Picture Palace. The morning view is amazing overlooking the Dhanaulti mountains with the birds chirpng and waking you up. The owners are extremely warm and nature loving, and a range of birds and small animals visit the house through the day. The rooms are done tastefully, with all modern amenities. The caretaker is warm and the food was 'like home.' It's a must visit!!

    Jaipreet2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mrinialini's Place is a heaven, as it is a walk able distance from chaos ( mall road ) and heavenly landour. It gives you a choice to pursue your day as you please, visiting cafe's, off beat treks and wading in river ensured we were up close with nature. Special Mention to the Hosts who also function as guides and help you plan your itinerary depending on your interest areas. There is dependable Khushal Singh to take you around at reasonable rates. Hemant the butler ensures that you get anything that you need during your stay. Two of the days we opted for home cooked dinner, and it was just great. Mrinalini's tips and directions on how to make most of your stay is amazing, it is nice to come across some one who is not viewing it purely commercially but is actually concerned that you have a good time. We highly recommend this place and will love to visit again.

Himalayan Anchor - Naval officers abode in the Himalayas aptly named . After spending years in the beauty of coastal land and lapping in the sea and with it its infinite beauty ,a naval couple decided to build something in the Himalayas - their first love. It had to be serene, peaceful , with a garden, high but not too much, cool but not cold, homely and warm, in wilderness but connected, green but not a jungle. They searched and searched & finally found a place and built their dream cottage.
The cottage is located near the town of cantonment town of Ranikhet in village of Majhkhali. Its a 10 minutes drive from Ranikhet town on the Almorah highway. The cottage is wonderfully located having a complete unobstructed view of the snow clad Himalayan ranges (Nanda Devi group) and the valley in front. The main characteristics of the cottage is that one gets to see the Himalayas from almost every room. Inner place comprises two bedrooms (one on each floor) with attached washroom, a living room with a fireplace and an expansive balcony, a TV room on the loft above the kitchen, an open kitchen with all utilities (refrigerator, microwave, kettle, cooking range, required utensils and a bar). Outer place comprises a garden in front and back and a stone floor porch adjoining the garden in front. The front garden and porch is a level below with steps leading to it from the entrance. The inner of the cottage is built with locally available pine wood , which is used in the staircase, the flooring, the loft and the roof - giving it a beautiful rich warmth and local flavor. To ensure that the guests are free of all house hold chores - Ganesh , the caretaker of the cottage, manages the cooking and cleaning . He buys fresh ingredients from the village market and cooks vegetarian food in the cottage as per the requirement of the guests and once work is done returns to his house in the village - leaving the guests in complete privacy. His services are complementary;guests pays for the ingredients as per actual basis the menu decided. We request our guests to cook veg fod in the kitchen. Guests can tip Ganesh if they feel so. In case guests come with a driver, the accommodation for the driver can be arranged nearby at nominal charges by Ganesh. It is advised that this information may kindly be intimated at the time of booking, so arrangements could be made well in time. In conclusion, it is a perfect place to recharge your self, take a lungful of clean crisp mountain air, catch up with your reading /hobbies, spend quality time with family and friends in total pristine private environment.
The village of Majhkhali is just 400 meters away and offers a small market with almost everything. The place is surrounded with small trekking routes, which can be explored. In addition, their is a rock climbing spot just 4 km away for children. Town of Ranikhet has numerous restaurants and a bigger shopping district. Their are numerous temples nearby, of which the Sun Temple at Katramal (approx 20 km drive from cottage) is a must go. The temple was built in the 13 century and is the only temple which has puja (prayers) being conducted .
  • Beautiful and quiet place at Majkhali!! The house is very well made with beautiful interiors. A very special thanks to the caretaker Me. Ganesh who was of great help. Will surely visit again in winters hoping for a clear, haze-free days so that can watch the snow capped mountains along with the amazing breakfast served by Ganesh bhaiya :)

  • Good stay. I had booked Himalayan Anchor for two members of our rather large group, while I was staying elsewhere. However I ended up spending both the evenings there because of the ambience of its living room and good hospitality from Ganesh the caretaker. He organized the fire place well and cooked up some good dishes. The rooms are large and well kept , so are the bathrooms. The place is easy to reach , just a couple of tough turns in the last lap. Nice views from the property . Recommend this place for a quiet sojourn.

    vishal2016-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • The home is lit! Market very accessible and the caretaker Ganesh bhaiya will be there for each and every chores, he is a man you can rely on. Finding good booze nearby is impossible no bars but you can get some at Ranikhet . The balcony will bring out the child in you. Furniture will get you all cosy. The house is very beautiful and decorated with things which shows the Valor of the owmer Mr. Raghvendra, a very nice person, very polite and friendly. Will visit again.

  • If you are looking for a place to escape from your mundane routine, this place is the right one for you to unwind. The cottage gives a great view of the Nanda Devi peak. You could also go for hiking nearby and the explore the village. Ganesh bhaiya was of great help. All in all we had a great stay.

  • Hello fellow travellers! The house is located in a quite and scenic spot. You have unhindered views from the living room on Level 1 and the terrace is fairly large. Open up the doors to the terrace and it becomes a nice big space. The kitchen is also adequately sized and 2 to 3 adults can easily work at the same time. Bedrooms are also reasonably sized with the bedroom on level 2 having its own balcony. The toilets are also spic and span! Overall an amazing stay at the house! You can also go for walks nearby and enjoy the changing views.

  • Well our objective of visiting this place was to spend the quality time with the family in the nature away from the busy & hectic city life. Must say the property , location , views , scenic beauty & the hospitality was more than we expected. The property is done & also maintained beautifully. Each & every small thing has been done very meticulously & it only speaks about the class , taste & the involvement of the stakeholders. We really enjoyed all the facilities in the property be it the TV, indoor games, Library , scenic view from the balcony or even the food. The place was found to be very safe & we only got the positive feelings inside the place. For me it was the HOME away from the HOME. Worth mentioning the simplicity & warmness of the caretaker Mr. Ganesh. Always ready to help with a big smile on his face. He makes awesome food be it paneer pakoda, Poha , Yello Dal or the Parathas. Calories concisions people will only feel disappointed as his food it just too tempting & one can’t resist. We really enjoyed the tracking in & around the place. Would highly recommend to go deep down the valley & feel the clouds. Visiting the lush green fields , interacting with the locals was also the great experience for us. Overall it was a great family holiday with lots of sweet memories & experiences. Would highly recommend to visit the place & also stay at this property. We would love to visit the place again for sure to have a good view of the Himalia’s peak post monsoon. Finally thanks to Raghavendra & Genesh for having us in their property. All the very best !

  • 10 kms before Ranikhet centre is this lovely home of Mr Raghavendra at Majkhali village. To reach the location you need a local or at least an expert driver but once you are in cottage it's a wonderful experience. The cottage has been beautifully decorated with lots of artifacts from his personal collection. There are two levels with one bedroom each on both. Bedrooms are spacious with all amenities sutied for a hotel. The hall and kitchen is spacious and we'll planned. Balcony gives a beautiful view of the Himalayas. Fire place is an added advantage in winters. The kitchen only allows veg food which was the deciding factor for us while booking. We will definitely take another chance to visit it again and recommend too to our friends.

    Mansi2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Himalayan Anchor is a complete experience in itself. From the amazing balcony to the wooden stairs, the blend between the quirky and classy decor of the place will stun you the moment you step inside the place. The beds are super comfy with amazing views but trust me when I say that you will spend a significant amount of time on that balcony. Ganesh too is a gem, quiet, smiling, always eager to help and ever so thoughtful. Being hardcore non vegetarian bengalis my family was a bit put off when they heard from me that our meals there would be vegetarian, but everyone agreed later that they had never thought vegetarian food could be as tasty as Ganesh's meals. Finally the place had a number of memorabilia of the Indian Navy that awed us even further. In all, we were very glad we got to exper this amazing place

  • Our experience at Jillings Terraces was one of my best on Airbnb to date. Rajeev and his staff were the most warm and friendly of any place I've stayed. They provided directions, met us at the bottom of the path with horses to carry our luggage and selves, made the most delicious food, even asking us our preferences and packing us a to-go lunch on our last day. I can't recommend this Himalayan gem enough. You must also take the short 15 minute walk past the home to the top of the hill with a stunning view.

  • It is a beautiful property!!! more than the photos!! amazing hospitality and dont even get me started on the yummy food! the only things you should keep in consideration : reach the matial village a lot before the dawn because you dont want to rush to get to the resort since it is an up hill trek and for somebody as unfit as i am it was quite difficult! we had to rush cause it was getting dark! had it been morning we would have taken our time and enjoyed the trek. second catch - if its cold you would like to take a room on the ground floor with the fire place! rest everything is absolutely perfect!! the sun! the dog - tumbler! the people! the food! the rooms! even the huge bathrooms! would definitely plan a trip there again :)

  • We had a wonderful time. This is an amazing property in the middle of the forest. I would especially like to thank the entire support team at Jilling. They were the highlight of the trip. Their warmth was unmatched. Will definitely be back soon.

  • When I first saw photos of Jilling terrace I just wanted to get there as soon as possible. But what I found there was much more beautiful than I could imagine! We reached Mattial by car in the afternoon & found Dilip(Manager) waiting for us with a horse to carry our luggage to the hill top. We started our trekking through rough yet beautiful trails. More we climbed up the hill more we got mesmerised with the scenic beauty of mountains and steep valleys. After one & half hour of trekking we finally reached our listing which was the perfect spot. One side we found out lush green mountains and on other side snow peaks of the mighty Himalayas. We forgot our tiredness and started enjoying the view & didn't even get in the listing for a long time. We had some tea and snacks made by the local staff in the listing. Then Dilip called us to have our lunch in their beautifully designed dining area with a fire place and a small library. I felt so hungry that without wasting a second I took a piece of mutton and shove it in my mouth & it was delicious! Listing was beautifully designed, most of it made by wood. We enjoyed our night with a couple of drinks, bonfire and million stars shining over our heads (which we can't find in cities). Next morning, we woke up early to enjoy a cup of masala tea sitting next to my room's window & admiring the beauty of Himalyas. Then we went out to play Badminton for sometime & had our scrumptious breakfast in the open. Talked to Aunty(the who was taking good care of the listing) and listened to her stories about place & her grandchildren. In afternoon Kamlesh(who has assisted us with our luggage & served food) took us to peak of the hill(ridge) and everything was simply stupendous. We stood on the top of mountain and next to us was a very steep valley which was giving me goose bumps. Then we came back to our listing, took our luggage and climbed down the hill. It was very hard to leave such a charming place, but we did. However, being a photography lover I captured lots of unforgettable moments and scenic beauty of Himalyas. People in the listing were super helpful and warm. Always greeted us with a kind smile. Like the untouched beauty of the place, people appear to be peaceful and very hospitable. I would definitely recommend this place if you're a nature lover, yoga lover, love to meditate, love to read, love photography or just love to sit under the stars. This place is ideal to escape city's hustle & bustle. I'll soon revisit this place to enjoy a few more days in the serenity of Himalyas.

  • The top of the hill is a quiet place. It's amazing that the listing looks exactly like the pictures. And sometimes even better. The sunset and sunrise at Jilling are not to be missed. We got some really good pictures and memories out of the trip. The entire host team - Rajeev, Sheela, the estate managers Dilleep and his wife and the cooks are extremely welcoming. Jilling has an interesting history. Do ask the estate managers about it. All meals are covered in the stay. The common dining area is filled with stacks of books. Which is always a big plus in my opinion. The uphill climb (2 km) can be a bit difficult. It took us 50 minutes. We climbed up at 1.30 in the morning when temperatures were touching 12 degrees. I had to stop a couple of times to manage my breathing. The downhill climb took us 30-35 minutes. Jilling is in Matial village of Nainital, a drive of 90 minutes from the Kathgodam railway station. It was a unique experience. And I would definitely visit again next year. This time for a longer period.

  • Kudos to the owners for keeping this place so pristine. We had a wonderful experience, truly a place that disconnects you from the hustle & bustle of regular city life, giving you a chance to connect with your family. The trek up was not easy but to our surprise, our three year old managed it. The staff there was very courteous and readily helped us with anything we needed. The home-cooked style food was good too. The rooms are rustic and basic but have all amenities. The weather was perfect! Rain and hailstorm with no electricity added to the adventure quotient of our stay! Would definitely recommend to those looking for a real break.

  • Heaven with unlimited supply of pure O2.The view from the room is a real bliss. I personally liked the 2km steep trek to the property. Once you are there, it’s a different world altogether away from any city noise. The only sound you hear is of birds and insects which is a rarity now a days. Cherry on thje cake was Mr. Dilip who is the care taker of the property and he made our stay an unforgettable one. He and his team provided us with unparallel hospitality. The trek to the ridge is a must for all as it had beautiful view of the valley. Would love to visit again…. Now for the cons… 1.sPlace is great for couples only and not for kids as there is no fencing around the property. 2.sThe floor of the rooms make hell lot of noise as they have loose wooden flooring. The beds too have to be mended. 3.s Upon our check out the manager of the place, Ms. Ashima was present but she didn’t even greet us or asked us about our stay so big thumbs down for that…. 4.sThe windows didn’t have any latches and it was very windy so we were always afraid that the glass panes might break. 5.sThe door or the windows didn’t have any mosquito/insect wire mesh and we were treated with unlimited supply of those…. Overall loved the place and hope that the owners give weight to the cons and take steps to eradicate them…..

  • We were a set of three families who decided to book a place in the hills and catch up. I was a bit worried about this place not being how it looked on the website. It was every bit of that and much more! What won our hearts was the warm hospitality extended by the staff. I have been to similar properties but nowhere have I experienced such great warmth. Food was simple and Delicious and always served hot and fresh! The washrooms were well equipped. Given the difficulty in managing even basic amenities at such remote locations, we were quite spoilt! Its ideal for people who want to soak in the nature, and just disconnect from the world. The chirping of the birds and lovely view is refreshing. If you are looking for being at a place to relax and feel close to nature and not have a particular itinerary of visiting "top 10/x tourist spots around the place ", then this place is perfect. This property is however not for people who have difficulty in hiking on steep terrain. Its a good 1.5 hours climb for people with normal fitness levels. But a very enjoyable hike. Am looking forward to visiting this property again.

Located at 8500ft, with fantastic views of snow-peak Himalayas Kanatal offers a serene experience in the lap of nature. Discerning tourists seeking a communion with nature can unwind amongst lush forests and beautiful hikes.
  • A cozy cottage with breathtaking views, an extremely helpful caretaker (Mr. Ramprasad) and an amazing local cook. The cottage boasts of a large garden, outside seating and 2.5 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, all with stunning scenery. The place could do with a little bit of maintenance - there was a leakage in one of the bathrooms and the furniture and amenities was old - but not a major issue for us. The location and staff more than made up for it. Would definitely go back!

    Ankit2016-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • The villa was great, the pictures do it complete justice and the views are to die for. The caretaker, ramprasad is very helpful and makes for some good conversation too! A few walking trails in the vicinity, good food cooked by the cook on hire and wonderful dining options like the Terraces make this a perfect 3 day vacation spot!

  • I thought the photos are photo shopped and honestly didnt expect it to be as seen in the pictures. But trust me the photos couldnt do justice to it. Its a lovely cottage with heavenly views. the caretaker Ramprasadji, a 58 year old man is highly enthusiastic for his age. dont miss the snow peaked himalayan view in the mornings. The clouds cover it quiet a bit later in the day. A few things that travellers should know is that its actually a 2 BR cottage with a 3rd makeshift room in the hall with a chatai hanging covering as a door. thankfully we were only 2 couples so no mess up here. Also they have a fantastic cook who comes on call for 500 a day. Provide him with grocery and he cooks up a splendid meal. In all a must visit place if u travelling to Uttarakhand!!

  • Place is really good as described in the pictures. We had a wonderful time during our stay. Caretakers are good and helped us with your requirements. Would definitely suggest spending time at the cottage for anyone looking for a peaceful holiday amidst himalayas. Best part was the snowfall which happened on the last day of our stay.

    Sanat2016-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We found a fair few things which can be better. First is cleanliness- we found an old diaper in the bathroom bin when we checked in, there was a strong musty smell in the living room, the buckets in the bathroom has algae at the bottom and were not usable. In addition their were a lot of jarring notes on the upkeep - the kitchen light did not work for the two days we were there, in at least 4-5 points there were naked bulbs without any lamp shade, the master bedroom did not have a bedside lamp to read in the night, furniture was scattered randomly on the patio and so on. The detailing and upkeep did not feel in line with the price; the property can do with a bit of spiffing up Also it will be useful to have short handout with a local map to guide the guests on walks, local amenties etc. The cook, Kailash was excellent and cooked real simple food as per our specifications. Ramprasad our care taker was not well so we barely saw him. The location is out of the world, so silent that you can hear the birds flap their wings. We loved the walks and plucking wild berries.

  • This is a home where u would luv to spend your complete life.. Rich in peace and quality air... Earlier we thought of spending second day out at some nearby location, but after enjoying the first day, no one wanted the leave the home... Such a beautiful home and location... Do try producing Echo if u have a powerful voice.. Furniture and complete structure is old but it doesn't matter at all... Sitting and having breakfast in balcony was some beautiful moments.. complete wooden structure was itself a wonderful experience...

  • Location! That is the best part of the cottage. The view of the snow peaked Himalayas is breathtaking and the starry night sky is something one misses in the city. Kanatal is a little village almost in the middle of nowhere which makes it perfect to unwind and enjoy the place! We stayed there for a week and it was still insufficient. The caretaker (Ram Prasad) and the cook (Kailash) were very helpful and polite! Rocky, the dog, kept the kids occupied and is extremely friendly. Thank you Jasmeet for letting us stay in this amazing place!

Superbly appointed Himalayan villa near Ranikhet - a home away from home... Wonderfully tranquil and peaceful.
Junoon in the Hills Set in a remote village in the Kumaon Hills, our home is a place to unwind, relax, and re-discover yourself. Friends, family, peaceful contemplation, wandering through the mountains, catching up on reading and music - choose your pleasure... When visiting for a long weekend, most visitors prefer to just stay at home, relaxing and catching up with each other, getting pampered, playing pool, staying fit in the (small but adequate) gym, reading, or catching some TV. Long walks along the country road are enjoyable, with some beautiful valley and snow-capped Himalayan views in the winter - you can spend hours just soaking these in... For the more adventurous, there are mountain trails winding through small villages all the way down to the stream at Garampani. Our staff can help you decide what you'd like to do, and arrange for local guides if needed. If staying longer, Darmani is well situated for trips to local destinations. Nainital is due south, a little over an hour away. Similarly, Ranikhet and Almora are about 40km away, further north. Various other local sites - such as Bhimtal, Naukuchiyatal, Mukteshwar, Sitla, and other Kumaon destinations - are all within easy motoring reach, allowing for comfortable day trips. Our staff can arrange for local taxis to travel in the hills, at very reasonable rates - just ask! Each bedroom on the property has its own attached bathroom with a shower and solar as well as electric water heater. During the winter, the heated floors in the bathrooms and drawing room in the Main House keep you warm. We also provide electric blankets to keep you cozy and snug, and heaters if required. There is a wood-burning stove and an open fireplace in the drawing room. Of course, double brick and insulated walls mean it's always warmer inside than out...! In the summer, on the other hand, there are many windows to let the breeze in, and fans to keep the circulation going. Outdoors, you can sit in the shade and enjoy a cool drink with the gentle summer breeze. Our food is simple and hearty, and cooked to your liking by a dedicated full-time cook in our large family kitchen. Breakfast, lunch and dinner (for 2 people per room) are included in the tariff, as are chai, coffee and snacks – including pakoras and kebabs around the bonfire in the evenings…! Soft drinks are not included in the tariff and are available at cost. A limited choice of soft drinks is available for purchase, so please do carry up with you any special requirements you might have. The same applies for any special dietary needs. Processed meats, whole wheat bread, special flours, juices and fruit, etc. - we'd suggest you bring all these with you when you come – all of which will be stored for you in the fridge and freezer in the kitchen. We also suggest you carry up any wine or alcohol you'd like to enjoy - there is a very limited choice of beer and alcohol at Garampani...

If you are looking for a place with a view of the mountains and valleys you will love The Woodhouse Farm. It is a family friendly home with lots of open spaces . Woodhouse is located in a village called Satoli (2000 m above sea level ), surrounded by traditional village houses . It is a place to enjoy the solitude, the weather, long walks and beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
The house is surrounded only by traditional village houses reflecting the spartan life of local farmers. The design of this house is referring to proximity of snow clad panorama of the northern Himalayan range at the horizon and nonetheless rooted strongly to existing and unharmed terraces it occupies. These two overwhelming landscape features compelled the building’s placement at the lowest terrace level of the property and merge with the larger environment. Spaces are organized on three distinctive levels, each approximately occupying 14.50m x 3.60m of the natural terrain with undisturbed spectacular views of the neighboring orchards and the town of Almora, experienced and architecturally expressed through a continuous glazing all around the external floating envelope. This rift addresses a transition between the exposed dressed dry stonewall base excavated from site and the oiled ‘tun’ wood cladding, acquired from this very region. Four ‘sal wood’ frames made of multiple glued planks and thin steel tie rods, support the entire timber covered roof, the insulated building envelope, the entire wooden mezzanine floor and shape the iconic double glazed skylight. The entire house suspended from these robust truss frames without the support of any intermediate columns allows an undisturbed flow of contours into the silent ‘pine wood‘paneled interior spaces. Carefully crafted collage of square windows towards all directions ensures ‘zen’ views of various mountain peaks and ever-changing clouds.
Activities to do: -Trek up to the Snow View Point for stunning views of the Nanda Devi peak, or if you don't want to get out, see Nanda Devi from your own window inside Woodhouse Farm. - Explore Satoli Village, observe how people in mountain villages go about with their daily chores, and be ready to be invited for a cup of tea while you are doing that. - Take a boat ride on the emerald water of Naini Lake and watch swans as they swim by. - Take an evening stroll on Mall Road while sampling some great street food. -Go shopping for quirky stuff at the Tibetan Market. -Trek to China Peak, 8622ft above sea level, which is the highest point in the region.
  • I will stick to points otherwise this will turn into an essay :) - Excellent location for people who do not want to be around humans and malls in the mountains :) and are looking for peace and tranquility with a 180 degree view of snowcapped peaks. STUNNING. - The COTTAGE! I am out of words to describe this incredible cottage. One of the best I have ever been to around the globe. It is so thoughtfully designed. Incredible. - Full marks to the staff, extremely warm, welcoming and humble. Superb food as well. Big big thanks to Harish, Manish, and little Aman :) and of course, the host, Lokesh.

  • Photos don't do justice to this place. It's a beautiful cottage with a stunning view. The timber structures, long windows, the bedrooms with skylights, and the living room split over three levels, are a few of the many interesting elements. Windows in every room look out on the surrounding gardens and the valley. It is evident that the house is built with much thought and imagination. A rare find for an Airbnb homestay! A delight especially for architect and interior designer travellers! A perfect place to go to in a large group. There are treks and a few board games and books to keep you busy. It's the place to be if you want to spend a peaceful time away from the city and especially if you're a photography enthusiast. There is such abundance of natural light in the house that we don't require lights until sunset. The staff is really sweet and a lot of the vegetables are grown there itself. I would definitely recommend this place for 'away from city' time, if you like travelling in a group.

  • A beautiful location and very well appointed cottage. Stayed with family and enjoyed every moment of the nature and comfort of the property. The caretaker Desraj a ever smiling person was always ready to help and available for taking care of all needs. The indoors are well done and comfortable. A good place to trek around the cottage for the uninitiated. The view of the Doon valley is amazing especially at night. A place worth spending a few days to get away from the stress of daily chores and work.

  • Wonderful, quiet place with the most wonderful views of the mountains. Beautiful, scenic cabin. Must sit outside in the comfy chairs as the sun comes out. Comfortable stay. Quite cold at night, even in peak summer, so please be prepared for that. Need a car, quite remote, especially from public transport. Must visit Landour and Landour Bakeshouse there. Ideal place to base yourself out of and take long drives. Lovely hosts. Deshraj, the caretaker, is a huge help.

  • We stayed at this property for 2 days and believe me it's an amazing property. Mr. Raavi who is the host of this property is a very friendly person who accommodated all our requests. He is always available for his guests. Property is very well maintained and my whole family is in love with this property. It has a large open space and my 4 year old daughter made good use if it. The only thing that I would like to suggest from improvement point of view is the installation of TV in both the rooms. Thank you Mr. Raavi for being an amazing host.

  • It's a well equipped cottage and we had a comfortable stay. It's the right place if you're looking for some peace and a good view.

    Shreya2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • First, let me start with the positives. The place has a spectacular view (and that's probably why you're looking at it). It really is a sight to see. Even though it was perpetually cloudy/rainy while we were here, we still marveled at the gorgeous scenery out the windows and from the deck. There is lovely landscaping around the property, with wildflowers and evergreen trees. The groundskeeper and the housekeeper are both lovely people. The owners of the property are not often around, and were outside the country during our visit. However, despite the wonderful views, there were a number of factors which kept us from really enjoying our stay here. First, there was absolutely no connection of any kind at the house. Our mobile phones would not work at all. There is a DSL router that gave strong coverage all over the house, but which gave no connection to the net. And finally, the landline phone line was completely dead. The hosts had helpfully compiled a binder full of emergency numbers, restaurant brochures, taxi services — none of which we could contact during our entire visit. If you came for the views, you may be completely fine with this. However, for us it posed several problems. We had no expectations of blazing fast internet for Youtube or Netflix or anything like that, and frankly you probably wouldn't stay at a place like this if you just wanted to sit around on your computer. But we did need to do simple things like arrange car transportation to the airport, check into our flights, etc. I had an semi-urgent issue with my overseas bank that I needed to address using my computer, and I have not been able to do it during our entire stay. Since the phone didn't work, we never got a cab to Mussoorie, so we basically just stuck around the cabin and ate the food prepared by the housekeeper and caretaker. And God forbid one of us had fallen or had some other kind of accident. If being able to reach the outside world is of any importance to you, think long and hard about making this booking. We could get a data connection on our mobile phones by climbing up to the road and walking 5–10 minutes in either direction. Decide how reasonable this will be for you, especially during monsoon. Strangely enough, almost everywhere else in the surrounding area had excellent 4G service, but this property almost seems to be in a Faraday cage. We let the hosts know that neither the phone nor the internet worked at the house. The response we got was that the internet had just gone out the day before and that the phone was "flakey" but would definitely be back in fixed. The owners texted us that a repair would be made between noon and 1:00 PM on the 2nd day of our stay. No repair was ever made. Phone/network dead as a doornail from the moment we arrived until...

  • Great place to be up in the clouds. Private and cosy. We loved it!

    Alice2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Its the perfect hideaway to go enjoy with family or friends. The hosts are extremely helpful and caretakers were extremely generous in taking care of us. :)

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Gurinder's in Mussoorie. He made us feel welcome, and kept us company. He even dropped us off in town when we first got there! The cabin is about 100 feet up from the road, but we really enjoyed the trek. The one downside was that the cabin was damp and smelled like mildew. We believe that the place would have been perfect had it not been for the very wet environment. I imagine that it would be dryer during the non-monsoon months.

    Rishabh2017-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Hustlers Den is a lovely, spacious cottage for those who like nature and prefer to be away from markets and noise. Each day we woke up to a charming sunrise and great views, thanks to the outdoor sit out. The owner does not live on the property. The cook was super helpful and not only made us delicious meals but also guided us around town. Location wise, it is right next to Woodstock school, surrounded by thick forest and ideal for nature lovers. There are around 50 steps, down from the road, to get to the house, and its about an hour's walk to Landour's Chaar Dukaan. All of which we enjoyed, but it could be tricky for non -walkers. We would have loved it even more if the indoor fire place had been functional, since it was the first week of January and very cold. Also, one bedroom leads to the other, with a shared bathroom, and this could impinge on your privacy. Nonetheless, we had a superb WiFi connection, which we weren't expecting. We also got the house help to get a fire going for us in the evenings, on the sit out, which eventually worked out for the better.

    Suhasini2017-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The house has a splendid view it's really beautiful. but no host till one hour of our visit. no proper address and even Airbnb Route in the site is wrong. searching for the address is pretty difficult. no moile network due to this finding address is challenging. No hot water (URL HIDDEN) good food available near by and even no food items available in the kitchen. we need to take all the (URL HIDDEN) host after visit to the cartage. No value for money..

Dear guests, we're closed for winter. We will be happy to welcome you again from March the first onwards. Wishing you a happy new year 2018. A great view over Dehra Dun from a recent comfortable Mussoorie cottage, six kilometers from the town. Extremely quiet, a short portion of the road is in bad condition, drive down in first gear . Two-wheelers no problem. Otherwise,a pleasant 200 meters walk downhill, or ask for a lift with our jeep, and the next morning, wake up to the sound of cow bells.
One large bedroom, a modern bathroom, a long glazed gallery, with a sofa, a bar with stools for your meals, a kitchen. A washing machine available in the laundry room. Great views of the Doon valley.
We are "ecological refugees" ,and escaped from a rapidly degrading Dehra Dun, pollution, noise, congestion, in 2008, and never looked back! We enjoy the proximity of Mussoorie, its good schools (we have a son), its shops and restaurants, its new cinema hall, and still be able to live in a preserved environment, a quiet and peaceful hamlet, surrounded by forest. If lucky, you can spot deers, foxes, yellow collar martres, wild fowls and many birds.
  • This is gem of a place nestled in the mountains of Kaplani. It's about 10km from main area of Mussorie. Once you reach the village, Ronan can usher you to his cottage thro a 4 wheel drive. At first glimpse of the place, I was stunned & was out of words. The place is just too beautiful. With the stunning view of the mountains, the lush green surroundings, the star studded sky & away from the crowd this place is a little french delight. Food can be ordered on a per person per meal basis & is more than sufficient. With little reception for mobile networks, you are free from the noise. You have a verandah for walking, chatting, reading etc. The owners live in the adjacent cottage & are ready to help anytime. The hosts were warm & friendly. They made my stay very comfortable. I would live going there another time!

  • Ronan and Barkha are truly delightful people and their son, Tarun, is adorable. Our stay at Ty Melenn Cottage was unforgettable. From the moment we arrived at Mussoorie, Ronan and his family helped us make ourselves at home. Furthermore, the location is absolutely stunning. The house looks over Dehradun and is entrancing at night. The cottage itself is both chic and homely at the same time and was kept spotless and ready for our arrival. I would strongly recommend Ty Melenn to anyone who is looking for a relaxing time away in the mountains. Ronan and Barkha are lovely people and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

  • Barkha's place is the perfect getaway if you're a nature lover and looking for peaceful, non commercial environment. Located in the middle of the mountains, Ty Mellen offers an absolutely brilliant view, overlooking the beautiful Doon Valley. It is extremely cosy, and is equipped with all possible amenities that one would need. The hosts are also exceedingly helpful and are always a call away for even the smallest of issues. On top of this there are extra goodies like a free pick-up and a scooter that is available for rent with the host. We had a crazy time there.

  • I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay with Barkha, Ronana and Tarun. The family were very warm and hospitable. Ronan and Barkha would bend over backwards to help me out. Their young son, Tarun, is a brilliant host and great chief administrator. The food was brilliant and Barkah is an excellent chef. I was made to feel very welcome. This spot has spectacular views and it is very relaxing. If you are looking for tranquility, then there is no better place than this. I can not overstate my recommendation for Barha's place.

  • It was just another day, just another outing, but surely not just another place. Nestled at distance of 6 km from Musoorie, I had no idea that this place will be the gem in the Queen of the Hill's crown. The aura of nature that envelopes the cottage is simply mesmerizing, and add to that a couple who host you with all the warmth in the world. Airbnb made me come across this absolute stunner of a home stay. As you enter the place you are welcomed by a quintessential Pahadi couple. Little can you guess before you get to know that the couple is half-French. The place is as discreet in its appeal as it is in its location. It has a strange attraction that can pull the most reluctant of people right into it. A clinically crafted place in all respects, attention paid to the detail can be felt even by the impervious. The selflessness of the hosts is killer to such an extent, that you'll be often left awestruck by the kindness. And the best part it's not just all show, it's great value too. The Ty Melen Cottage doesn't just give you a roof to save your heads, it gives you an experience worth more than the whole trip. The love and affection with which the hosts have made the place is the very cement that holds the house and relations alike.Away from the urban tantrums of life, you are allowed to fall in a retreat of your own liking. Talking and cooking i couldn't really fathom when i exhausted my 3 day stay at the place. Due to the course of time i was forced to refuse the complimentary extension of my stay. As i headed back i bid farewell to an experience of a lifetime standing in front of me in the form of Barkha's family. If there is home away from home, it has to be this or at least like this.

  • I happened to visit the homestay in July, I was absolutely mesmerized by the weather in Mussoorie and Tymelon cottage. TyMelon- A French for yellow cottage has been built with love, care and extreme attention to detail by Barkha and Ronan. It's a gem nestled in Kaplani, 6 KMs from main market. You will feel like home at once. Their are more amenities than you can ask for. The full view of the Doon valley is visible from the room itself. One should ideally stay here for 2-3 days. Overall, we had an amazing stay. Also, we got stuck due to the cloud burst, but Ronan was sweet enough to pick and drop us to Mussoorie. We will be back here soon.

  • The cottage is a lovely place in quaint village. The view from the bedroom and sitting area is breathtaking. It opens to a valley, which is still green. The place has well quipped kitchen with basic food raw material as well. The hosts willingly bring any vegetables etc based on your need. The place is perfect for lazying, and if you need to stay close to nature, away from city bustle.
