One of the most beautiful rural locations in the UK, the house was converted from an 18th century barn into a spacious home, combining original oak beamed character with a comfortable, contemporary living style. A great feature of the house and cottage is the ability to walk directly on to public footpaths leading to Black Hill, the Offa's Dyke footpath, and Hay Bluff. The house and cottage annex provide spacious accommodation for up to 10 guests. Different generations of the same family can holiday together comfortably, whilst retaining their own private spaces. The house has: Large living room with 14kW Clearview wood burning stove and home cinema system with blu-ray player and wi-fi connection to Apple TV, and to iPlayer via your personal device. Large kitchen with Everhot electric Range Cooker (two ovens; grill; large hot plate + simmer plate) Dining room. Bathroom with WC. Shower room with WC. Three double bedrooms. Please note that one of the bedrooms is an open gallery above the living room. The cottage annex has:- Two double bedrooms Shower room with WC Outside there is: Large garden. Oak deck. Outdoor covered kitchen with two gas BBQs; large outdoor dining table 20 acres of fields, woodlands and river banks ACCESSIBILITY:- There is stair-free access to the kitchen, dining room, living room, two shower rooms and two bedrooms. There are stairs to three of the bedrooms and one bathroom. The house and cottage provide privacy and tranquility, yet are only 5 minutes drive from the nearest village, with shop, pub and post office. Guest reviews:- "Beautiful house in an even more beautiful location." "Ty'r Olchon could not have been better. Beautiful location for peace and quiet, and lovely walks along the river, through the valleys, fields, and forests. The house was perfect - cosy, warm, stylish and the home cinema was an extra treat for down time." "This place is a hidden gem, wow what a find. I took my family of 10 adults here for my partners surprise 40th Birthday and we had the most amazing time. Both the house and the cottage are spacious, clean and well finished. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and the table sat 10 adults very comfortably." "Stunning location, beautiful house with excellent BBQ area for summer, and huge log burner for winter! : guest review December 2017 "Beautiful very well equipped home We had an amazing time. Mesmerising views . Entertainment lounge with log burner cinema system and games . Superb kitchen with an Aga . Pleasure for those who enjoy cooking." : guest review October 2017 "Had the most fabulous week here in October. Incredibly cosy getaway. All creature comforts are present in the house. Awesome views across the valley! Hygge time!" "House and location are quite simply stunning. Can't fault this place. The local walks are magnificent" " "Amazing house and location for a family weekend away. The house was comfortable and warm and had everything we needed to cook with. The log burner kept us really toasty in the evenings whilst watching films on the home cinema set up. We walked from the house on the public footpath with dog and 4 week old baby in a sling across the fields into Longtown, stopped at the pub for a drink, and the shop for supplies and walked back via the road. We also headed over to the other side of the valley to explore the landscape, less than 10 minute drive and then on foot again up the mountain. Very relaxed. The views are amazing." "A beautiful house tucked away in a peaceful and scenic situation. No noise or light pollution made this a very relaxing location. The wood burner was very welcome on a cold January weekend, as was the Aga, meaning the house was always very pleasantly warm and cosy."
This is a relatively undiscovered part of the UK with beautiful countryside, but with easy access to excellent restaurants and pubs, and culture and retail therapy in the book town of Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny. Longtown village with its well-provisioned shop, post office and pub is five minutes drive away. Within 25 minutes drive are the Walnut Tree & Hardwick restaurants offering high quality cuisine in relaxed settings - book in advance! The magical Llanthony Abbey is in the next valley. The historic Marches towns of Ludlow, Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury and Hereford are within easy travelling distance. SOME OF THE LOCAL SITES OF INTEREST: Llanveynoe Church - 15 minute walk along the lane or through the fields and along the public footpath. Longtown Castle - in the middle of the village. Llanthony Priory & Cwmyoy Church - both in the next valley to the west of the cottage - a must when you are so near. St. Margaret's Church, 15 minute drive - very beautiful medieval church with a wonderful carved Rood Screen. Abbey Dore Church and Monastery - 20 minute drive. Red Daren/Offa's Dyke - directly opposite the house :- Drive for 10 minutes along the Mountain Road (the one you were told not to take just before you first arrived), over the river and up and over the cattle grid into the National Park - until you reach the parking place directly opposite the house. Within a few hundred yards before, and only a few yards after the parking place, there are two public footpaths leading up the mountain. The first is easier and will take you towards Llanthony Priory, the second is steeper and will take you in the direction of Hay Bluff. Cat's Back/Black Hill : quickest way to the top of the ridge and great views - 10 minute drive to the car park at the bottom of the Hill. Abergavenny - nearest market town (with a Waitrose, Aldi, Morrison, and Tesco), 25 minute drive on the route to Cardiff (which is only an hour away, traffic permitting, if you would like to spend some time in a surprisingly great little city). Hay on Wye - the book town - retail therapy, good food and pubs. The drive, from Ty'r Olchon to Hay-on Wye, taking the shortest route on the narrow road which climbs up to the highest point, gives stunning views and takes about 25 minutes. FOOD AND PROVISIONS Longtown Village:- Shop & Post Office; The Crown Inn Ewyas Harold Village, 15 minutes drive away has a well stocked village shop and post office, fish and chip shop, butcher selling very local fresh meat and good frozen fish, pub - The Dog; pub with restaurant - The Temple Bar. The Bridge Inn and Restaurant at Michaelchurch -15 minute drive - nice pub, good food. Fine restaurants within 25 minute drive The Walnut Tree, 20 minutes drive just off the road to Abergavenny The Hardwick, Raglan, 20 minutes drive MEDICAL & DENTAL GP at Ewyas Harold Dentists at Abergavenny Chemists at Abergavenny Accident & Emergency at Abergavenny (Nevill Hall Hospital) or Hereford

Minutes from Hay on Wye, in spectacular open countryside Grove Villa nestles under Black Hill. Gaze out from the huge studio. Watch Netflix by the wood burner in the ancient parlour, play table tennis and darts in the games room, football and croquet on the vast lawns, and paddle in the stream. 5 bedrooms sleeping up to 12 people.
Grove Villa is a second home we have shared successfully over recent years. It has a very well equipped kitchen. With the large studio sitting room, good HiFi and WiFi, a kitchen big enough to seat 16 and two downstairs bedrooms (one en suite) as well as three upstairs, the house is very popular with large family groups and other get togethers.
Grove Villa is located on the Welsh borders, in Herefordshire 6 miles from the bookshop town of Hay on Wye. Everywhere around Craswall the landscape is breathtaking from the Golden Valley right up to Hay Bluff, the Black Mountains and on into Wales. We have a great close by pub/restaurant (The Bridge, Michaelchurch 01981 510646) and lovely home cooked food at a farm restaurant (White Hayward Farm, Craswall 01981 510324) an easy walk down the road, who also do fish and chips on a Thursday night! From Grove Villa, you'll want to climb Black Hill and see the spectacular views over the Black Mountains. The Black Mountains has a unique past recorded in the castles, churches & houses of the area. The house has maps and tourist guides for walking, cycling, canoeing, pony trekking and sightseeing round the characterful Welsh borders near Hereford, Hay-on- Wye, and Abergavenny. Grove Villa is an excellent starting point for tours: the Black & White Village Trail, the Cider Route, & the Holy Valley. The region abounds in freehouse pubs, castle ruins, and wonderful walks, long and short.

Staying in the Redwood is just like being high up in a tree house, - its floor height is elevated into the middle of two wonderful mature oak trees. It has the true wooden cabin feel, and it is particularly easy to hide away in for quite some time!
There is a 360 degree view of the Golden Valley around you from the Redwood, with great big windows all round the space. While you sit cosy on the sofa in front of the woodburner, you can see out for miles into the countryside in front of you, whilst being beautifully sheltered inside your ‘cabin on wheels’. The Redwood was handmade on the farm, and the wood milled in the field just next to you! I made the effort to pay a lot attention to detail. When you are lying in your big comfy kingsize bed in the mezzanine bedroom, you will be nearly 15 feet off the ground, with a window out to the tree branches, making you feel like you are suspended in the tree canopy while you sleep. Chanstone is a working farm and provides the backdrop of a genuine rural experience. The Redwood is a real one-off structure, you wont be disappointed. The Redwood sleeps five people. The mezzanine has a king-size bed. There is an delightful little single bedroom underneath the mezzanine and also a double sofa bed by the wood burning stove. All of the beds have memory foam mattresses a French linen bedding. You have hot water on demand, a heated towel rail and a nice big power-shower, hair dryer and toiletries. The kitchen is very well equipped with cooking kit. There is a gas cooker and oven, fridge and small freezer. There are also some cooking basics such as a variety of herbs and spices, stock cubes, olive oil, sauces etc. There is also tea, good coffee and milk provided. Outside you have a lovely elevated deck area with a seating for 6 and a BBQ (please bring charcoal with you). This space works well for someone on their own looking for some quiet time, couples wanting a bit of a wooden cabin-like escape, or families to have a rural holiday with a twist.
A debe permanecer ubicación!

  • Un lugar tan asombroso. Sin duda volveremos. X

No te arrepentirás.

Nestled in the Black Mountains, this listed barn conversion has underfloor heating, log burner, original oak timbers and private gardens. The interior is stylish and light with open spaces blending contemporary fittings and country antiques. The property is supplied with professionally laundered 100% cotton sheets, down bedding, fluffy white towels and all the kitchen stuff we think you might need. There is also a games room, loads of space to roam in and killer mountain views!
Goose Cotts (sleeps 2) is an ancient cruck house converted to a romantic mezzanine cottage with a romantic canopied bed. The mullioned windows, massive blacksmith’s hearth and large glazed frontage make a rich marriage of ancient and modern. Outside is an east-facing breakfast patio, and southerly terrace for afternoon sun. A famous local dowser divined seven streams running beneath – it has a very special feel. Note: We have WiFi throughout the properties but there is no fibre in our corner of the countryside (yet!). Dogs are welcome for a charge of £20 each - please mention when booking so that we can put out the dog mats, bowls and blankets for you. We allow extra people by arrangement at a charge of £20 per person.
The Black Mountains provide magnificent views, great walking and a unique past etched in castles, churches & quaint towns all around the area. Our book Historie of Cressewelle details these local places and events over the centuries. The properties have maps and tourist guides for walking, cycling, canoeing, pony trekking and sightseeing round the characterful Welsh borders near Hereford, Hay-on-Wye, and Abergavenny. The region also has lots of idyllic country pubs and an exciting foodie scene: Dukes Farm makes an excellent starting point for exploring.

Kingfisher Camp is a romantic hideaway set in the dimple of a hillside of a small farm in the foothills of the Black Mountains. The hut is available for anyone who is content to cuddle up by candlelight and light the woodburning stove to get cosy, or spend a night out by the fire, cooking food and star gazing. The perfect space for anyone looking to self isolate in a special location!!
It's a tin hut, warm and cosy, tucked away from the world with stunning views. Previous guests have described it as the loveliest wendy house ever. It will accomodate a couple - or two good friends. It is all one room, with a sofa bed at one end and the kitchen department at the other. We do ask that guests bring their own sleeping bags or bedding (double sheet/duvet cover and pillow cases) and towels, and firewood. Everything else is provided for cooking etc.
We live on the edge of a fantastic village in the lee of the Black Mountains. There is a wonderful village shop - Hopes of Longtown - which stocks everything you could possibly need and more and caters for all types of dietary preferences, with a large focus on locally sourced food. There is the Crown Inn in Longtown and the Cornewall Arms in Clodock, well worth a visit, and the walking in the surrounding hills is unsurpassed.

A cosy and beautifully equipped space for two (and that's what our guests say) in the glorious Golden Valley. Utterly peaceful, beautiful views. Ideal for walking, visiting Hay, Hereford, Brecon and the Welsh borders. Pets welcome (but not compulsory). Please note that we have no extra charges (such as cleaning).
In Herefordshire's beautiful Golden Valley, with easy access to Hereford, Hay-on-Wye or Abergavenny. A newly developed south facing annexe, entirely independent and separate from the main house, consisting of kitchen/sitting room, bathroom and bedroom with double bed. Equipped as we would expect it to be if we lived in it, so TV, Wi-Fi, IPad dock, wood burning stove, linen, towels and all kitchen equipment. It's designed ideally for 2, but extra people may be able to sleep in the house if necessary (enquire in advance). Minimum stay is 2 nights with reductions for a week or more. This is one of the few remaining unspoiled rural areas in the UK, with many walks including the Cat's Back, the Black Mountains, Offa's Dyke, and at 45 - 60 minutes drive, the Brecon Beacons. There is easy access to Hereford or Hay-on-Wye (20 minutes), also Abergavenny (30 minutes), Brecon (45 minutes), Ludlow (50 minutes), Cardiff (70 minutes), Swansea (90 minutes) - all assuming you have a car. There are a few buses, but a car is pretty essential. Hereford is the only place you will encounter much traffic (and Cardiff and Swansea of course should you get that far). Ideal for a walking holiday, exploring the Welsh Borders, the Hay Festival (when on), and even a weekend break doing absolutely nothing except relax in the peace of our beautiful countryside. Pets are welcome. We have a large red setter (Monty) who expects 24/7 cuddles and will do his best to convince you that he is in desperate need of food. He is NOT allowed in the unit, whatever he may try to tell you, and please don't encourage him as later guests may not be dog lovers. The garden (yard) is fully fenced so pets can be outside unsupervised. We do ask that you clean up after them, of course. Monty is very gentle with babies, especially if they throw their food on the floor, and is fine with cats, but definitely no pesky squirrels, please.
The village is very quiet, with shop, good restaurant, hairdresser, and 2 pubs. There are nearby farm shops and lots of walks. Herefordshire is spoiled for excellent inexpensive restaurants, but many are in out of the way spots. Ask for the latest recommendations.

Perched in the high corner of a Herefordshire wildflower meadow, with fold upon fold of rolling hills running off into the Black Mountains, this great green and gold-ribbed showman's waggon (old Herefordshire spelling) boasts wonderful comfort and cosiness - with full bathroom facilities in its own heated cedar extension, and a fantastic wood burner for year-round warmth, you can enjoy all the wildness and romance of nature with every comfort from home. Sleeps 2, plus up to 2 well behaved dogs
Down a farm track, you arrive into a secluded orchard - and there, at the end of a woodland path, stands the Edwardian. Push open the front door, and you step into another world: inside, exquisite period detail; and outside, just there, through the French windows onto the south, is the sun terrace overlooking the glorious view. At the heart of the wagon is a fiercely efficient wood stove - ensuring that you can be deliciously cosy in all seasons - and two comfy armchairs each with their own reading lamp. Again, you can survey the view - this time from the comfort of your chairs. ( Generous supply of wood for the stove included in the price). The kitchen is superbly equipped ( " more amenities than my house in London", said one delighted visitor) - including original 50's gas stove, microwave, toaster, fridge. And you can watch the sun set as you dine at the kitchen table looking through one of the kitchen's south or west facing windows. The bedroom boasts the full sweep of the view through the picture window at your feet, whilst through the window onto a glade to the east, you can watch songbirds nibble at a bird feeder just four feet from your pillow. The Edwardian boasts its original antique pine polished floor, and exquisite lighting that cleverly mimics the original gas and oil lamps. And at night, with shutters closed and velvet curtains drawn, you could almost imagine yourself travelling in a first class cabin of the Orient Express, complete with exquisite wood panelling and gold stencilling lovingly inscribed onto the ceilings. Adjoining the wagon is its own cedar clad bathroom. Complete with floor to ceiling towel rail to ensure warmth at all times, flushing toilet, tiny Belfast sink ( shaving plug nearby) and its fabulous Moroccan tadelakt-plastered shower - so big that it doesn't need a glass door. And through the eye level window on the shower's eastern wall, you can gaze at another nearby bird feeder, and the woodland glade beyond. Another French door to the west leads onto the wagon's garden, and the fire pit where you can cook superb grilled food on the state-of -the-art Kotlich grill. So you can dine cosily in the kitchen; al fresco at the table on the veranda; or around the garden fire-pit.
This is farming country, so there is peace and quiet in profusion with only occasional farming sounds, like the baa of a sheep, the cluck of a chicken, or an occasional tractor in the lane. But overall, there is a simply wonderful silence - no background A-roads in this beautifully empty part of the countryside. Instead, the sky-larks sing intermittently high above the field; nesting lapwings in season make their inimitable cry; and there is the odd mew of the buzzards that visit regularly. And, of course, all the many small songbirds that come to nibble at the bird feeders. So, staying put and enjoying all these peaceable sounds is immensely relaxing. There are plenty of walks from the doorstep, too.

Chill out in our love-nest made for two (by Simon and Rhiannon) in the beautiful Black Mountains! The cute wooden house has ALL mod cons, complete with small, perfectly formed kitchen, a wood burning stove, and a comfy double bed with spectacular pillow views of the Black Hill. In winter it’s all snuggling round the log burner with breath-taking views and wonderful walks, and in summer it’s outside living in a flower-rich meadow. Plus you will enjoy complete seclusion and peace and quiet!
The Little House is at the top of a wild flower meadow with fabulous views of the mountains and the Black Hill. Sorry, no near neighbours, no road noise - just a few lambs bleating and the birds singing! And after dark the night-sky is spectacular - we are right on the edge of the Brecon Beacons Night Sky Reserve. So bring your telescope! .
Our farm is "off the beaten track" in a spectacularly beautiful landscape, on the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We are also near to the festival towns of Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny. When you stay at the Little House you will be able to find out about our way of life here in the foothills of the mountains. You can learn to make different kinds of bread and even on occasions bake it in my wood-fired oven. You can also join me at our local pub where I regularly perform traditional folk music, and you can take part in our local festivals, from the wassailing nights in January to the summer shows with their sheep dog trials and vintage tractor rallies! Plus of course, morris dancing at the summer solstice! And not another tourist in sight! I speak four languages, English, Welsh, French and German, plus some Spanish. So this would be a fantastic opportunity for guests from abroad to experience a real slice of "olde England", entirely off the tourist map. Although the Little House in the Mountains is still fairly new , I have been hosting guests for 4 years in our B&B. You can view our many guest-reviews on TripAdvisor - they are all 5*! Look for Little Trewern.

    Amanda2018-08-31T00:00:00Z

Hinton Barns is a beautifully converted 18th Century Barn situated in the heart of the stunning Golden Valley in Herefordshire. The room is on the ground floor with an ensuite shower and opens onto a decked area which is a perfect peaceful breakfast spot. The gardens include lawn with Badminton nets, paved courtyard to watch the sunset with evening drinks and rear garden overlooking the east hills. Wonderful walking area rich in birdlife. Not far from literary Hay on Wye. Off road parking.
The village is quite small, people are friendly. There is a local shop with basics available like newspapers, milk, bread, drinks etc. The church has a community cafe which is open tuesday to friday from 11am to 2pm. The Nags Head does good pub food and great fish and chips on tuesday and fridays. There is a chip van that comes round on tuesdays, I've never tried it so can't comment on its fish and chips. Lots of nice walks around including taking a trip up the road to Dorstone which also has a good pub with nice food - The Pandy Inn. Hay on Wye is 9 miles away with nice shops, loads of book shops, art and craft and antique shops. Hereford is 12 miles away with Cathedral and a range of tourist attractions.

This is a pretty, cosy bedroom for a single person. There is a lovely view of the garden and fields from the south facing window. The shared shower room, with toilet and washbasin, is a short step away on the landing.
We are in a very rural area, 1.5 miles down a narrow lane and next door to a traditional mixed farm. We are also 600ft above sea level and have a view down the Golden Valley to the Radnor Hills 16 miles away.

River Cottage is a comfortable, beautifully presented two bedroomed holiday cottage. Nestling by the River Monnow at the edge of the majestic Black Mountains, it is surrounded by peaceful farmland, ancient hedgerows and an abundance of wildlife. The cottage is equipped with quality furnishings to create a cosy, welcoming home from home, offering the perfect base for exploring the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and the Wye Valley. The famous town of books, Hay on Wye, is only 8 miles away.
River Cottage started life as a stone barn in the 1800s and has been sympathetically converted into a high quality, two bedroomed holiday cottage. The conversion was designed to retain some of the building's original character, such as an exposed stone wall and vaulted ceiling in the living area, yet the interior fittings and furnishings provide contemporary comfort and style. The front door to the cottage opens into an open plan living, dining and kitchen area with woodburning stove and large French windows. There is a flat screen TV which provides Now TV, Freesat and catch-up TV. You'll find a selection of books and DVDs as well as a range of board games for all the family. Two sofas (one a double sofa bed) provide comfortable seating, and the dining table can accommodate up to 6 people. If you are bringing very young children on holiday, we'll happily provide a high chair. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave oven and washing machine (we'll leave some detergent and dishwasher tablets for you) plus 4 ring induction hob with integrated double oven below. Just off this area is a hallway where you'll find the family bathroom, and 5 steps up lead you to the 2 bedrooms: a double bedroom with ensuite shower room and a twin bedroom with just enough space to accommodate a travel cot if needed (we'd be happy to provide one for you). The French windows in the living area lead out onto a patio with a built in barbecue. Beyond the patio is a shingle area with a picnic bench from where you can see the river. There is also a lawned area where children can play, and enough level parking for up to 4 cars. The Wifi Access Point is onward connected via the main house to a BT "fibre to the home" broadband service delivering a constant speed of around 150Mbs. A signal for mobile phones is usually available in the Cottage. When this is weak, a better signal can be obtained by walking a little way back up the track towards the lane. You can arrange a grocery delivery to River Cottage if you wish to - in spite of its rural location, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Asda and Tesco all deliver to the cottage from Hereford. Alternatively, Abergavenny is well served with Waitrose, Aldi and Morrisons supermarkets. If you are looking for an action-packed holiday, there is a wealth of activities on offer within a 10 mile radius, from canoeing or kayaking on the River Wye and pony trekking to mountain biking and paintballing. Alternatively, you can just step out of the front door and walk in the hills - you'll find maps in the property. Take the opportunity to do some stargazing - River Cottage is in one of the least light-polluted areas in the UK. In fact, the Brecon Beacons gained the status of International Dark Skies Reserve in 2012. Hay on Wye, with its quaint shops and eateries, is well worth a visit and lies only 8 miles away. For breathtaking views, take a circular drive from Cwm Mill to Capel Y Finn and Llanthony Priory and back to Cwm Mill via Longtown.
Cwm Mill's River Cottage is very rural and right on the cusp of the English / Welsh border, on the Herefordshire side. It is set against the backdrop of the majestic Black Mountains on the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons, at the foot of the Black Hill and the Cat's Back ridge which are accessible right from the cottage. We are fortunate to have a family-run, licensed Farm Restaurant just a 20 minute stroll along the lane where wholesome, country food (including vegetarian) and a quiet drink is available. There are public footpaths all around which provide walking access to some of the best sights that the Black Mountains can provide. Longtown (3 miles) offers a well-stocked general store and Post Office and a traditional country pub. Clodock is just beyond Longtown and offers a beautiful historic church which is a popular wedding venue, plus a second public house. The Bridge Inn at Michaelchurch Escley, 3 miles in the other direction, is an excellent gastro pub where you can sit out by the stream enjoying good food and drink.

A fully-equipped and cosy shepherd's hut with log burning stove and super comfy bed, tucked away in the hills near to the gorgeous mountain village of Longtown. Shepherd's Nook also has a small oven, a fridge, gas ring, simple kitchenette with cold water sink, an electric kettle, toaster, chiminea and a BBQ for your use. The outside shower has gas powered hot water. The hut is beautifully made with a hand-crafted oak table top, and wrought iron fittings.
Review from the Guestbook: Rating 5/5 The Shepherd’s Nook is a magical place to stay…I felt like a castaway in another world. Perfect for leaving the cluttered 21st century behind! It is set in an idyllic rural location, close to Longtown Castle and Llanthony Priory, with the backdrop of the Black Hills. This is ancient country with walking paths into routes trodden for centuries. Some great places to visit and eat too, not least in nearby Abergavenny (love The Angel Hotel). The Shepherd’s Nook is a shepherd’s hut with a comfy double bed and a lovely wood burning stove. Yes, it does have wifi, electricity, a fridge, a space-efficient kitchenette and double glazing…but let’s not dwell on the comforts…it’s the beautiful simplicity I loved. I really loved the outside shower (it’s actually a very clever outside unit, with a gas-fired hot water boiler)…absolutely divine having a hot shower outside (it is a cubicle…to spare the blushes of the sheep in the neighbouring field!). When I got there the wood burner was already lit….the host Sarah is the warmest hearted host you could find…she clearly loves the hut as much as the visitors. They also own the neighbouring Apple Garden cottage where you can also stay, if there are more of you. I stayed at the Shepherd’s Nook on a number of occasions, in both summer and winter. Both were divine. Looking forward to staying again. Andrew Crantock, Cornwall Description of the Space: Shepherd's Nook is extremely well-insulated and fully-equipped. It occupies a private position in the grounds of The Apple Garden Holiday Cottage ( also available on this site) near to the delightful village of Longtown in the Black Mountains. In the village is an award-winning store, selling, alongside everyday essentials and special treats, fantastic books by local authors, hand-crafted gifts and home-grown produce. There are several excellent pubs nearby including The Bridge Inn at Michaelchurch Escley and The Temple Bar at Ewyas Harold. The wonderful town of books, Hay-on Wye is a beautiful 25 minute drive through the mountains, with live music, cinema, many lovely gift shops and organic cafes as well as a fine selection of pubs and restaurants. Canoeing, mountain biking, paint-balling, quad biking and pony-trekking can all be enjoyed in our area during the spring, summer and autumn months. The Black Mountains are perfect for walkers...The Black Hill, Hay Bluff and The Llanthony Valley are our favourite areas.
A gorgeous mountain village close to The Black Hill and boasting several nearby excellent eateries and pubs.
