Collie and Mackenzie statue erected last year during covid. More than 130 years ago two men began a years' long adventure to discover, climb and map Skye's famous Black Cuillin. The range of mountains forms one of the world's best-known landscapes. It also poses some of the toughest climbing challenges in Britain with its narrow ridges, pinnacles and rock buttresses - huge blocks of rock that jut out from the mountains. The Cuillin has 11 Munros - mountains of more than 3,000ft, (914m). A 12th Munro, Blà Bheinn, is often considered as an outlier to the main range

Bealach na Bà is a winding single track road through the mountains of the Applecross peninsula, in Wester Ross in the Scottish Highlands. The Bealach na Bà is just one feature on this road, being its highest point and site of several corries. The historic mountain pass was built in 1822 and is engineered similarly to roads through the great mountain passes in the Alps, with very tight hairpin bends that switch back and forth up the hillside and gradients that approach 20%. It has the steepest ascent of any road climb in the UK, rising from sea level at Applecross to 626 metres (2,054 ft), and is the third highest road in Scotland.

Applecross is a peninsula north-west of Kyle of Lochalsh in the council area of Highland, Scotland. The name Applecross is at least 1,300 years old and is not used locally to refer to the 19th century village (which is correctly called 'Shore Street', or simply 'The Street') with the Applecross Inn, lying on the Applecross Bay, facing the Inner Sound, on the opposite side of which lies the Inner Hebridean island of Raasay. The monastery of Applecross was established by St Maelrubha, in the 7th century. A sculptured stone is the only relic of Maelrubha remaining, who built a chapel there. Applecross is a peninsula in Wester Ross, Highland, on the north west coast of Scotland.
