Everything is delicious here! Fare is Philippine-influenced, but the mac and cheese is off the hook, too. Cozy spot right in the heart of Mt. Pleasant along the main street.

This was our first coffee shop love in DC. It's in Adams Morgan - about a 15 minute walk on a nice day. You can get breakfast or lunch here and great coffee/tea drinks and smoothies . It gets busy for breakfast/brunch on the weekends. On weekdays, it's a great spot to get some work done.

This Neapolitan pizza place is our favorite in town. It can get very busy in the early evenings (great for kids, but adults appreciate this fare!). Terrific pies, but also check out their daily selection of anti pasti and delicious small plates.

Located on busy and hip 14th Street, this is our favorite place for a celebratory meal out. Fare is bistro French in a fun, lively setting. Reservations are highly recommended and you will want to book in advance. You may have luck walking in on the early side especially if you are open to sitting out on the sidewalk patio.

This is within a walk of the apartment. Great tacos and margaritas. Be sure to get the corn! There are a lot of places nearby to get a drink (try Room 11 for wine or a cocktail).

Vegetarian tacos with housemade tortillas in a cute setting. This is in Georgetown. You will want to take an Uber there (no easy metro or bus access) and plan to explore the neighborhood a bit. Located right along the Canal and close to Georgetown Waterfront.

Arts & Culture

If you see just one Smithsonian Museum on your visit, let it be this one. The newly unveiled Obama portraits have been added to the Presidents collection. You do not want to miss the Preamble in license plates right near the gift shop (go through entrance on G Street side). The courtyard is a great place to let kids run in the open space, with fountains and a few tables/seating.

There are no shortage of incredible museums here in DC! This is another favorite. You will want to spend at least an hour or two here. There are two buildings. Stop at the desk upon entry and decide which exhibits you want to check out. There is also a great little cafe on the lower level.

Note that because this is not one of the Smithsonian museums, you will need to pay a fee. It's pricey, but worth it! Our favorite exhibits are the Pulitzer Prize Winning Photograph collection and the 9/11 exhibit (get out your tissues for this one, it's a heartbreaker). Plan to spend at least 1-2 hours here.

Parks & Nature

There are quite a few trails you can catch right from our place. If you head left on 19th, then right on Park Road, you can enter the park by following the road to the right. You can also stay on Porter and take the Klingle Trail to the other side of the Park to visit Cleveland Park.

This park is just a short walk (15-20 minutes) from our place. On Sunday afternoons, they have a drum circle that is like nothing you've seen. It's a great place for a picnic, a walk or just enjoying a beautiful afternoon. You will see dogs, strollers, people playing lawn games and others just enjoying the stunning fountains and greenery. Beautiful views of the monument from here as well.

This Island can be accessed in a couple ways. You can get dropped off from the George Washington Memorial Park way (in the parking lot, then you will need to walk over the bridge to enter the park). You can also rent a canoe or kayak from the Georgetown Waterfront (vendors are located at either end of the waterfront, under the Key Bridge and over on the other end by the Swedish Embassy). Plan to hike the island to see statues and read the placards. Bring a picnic to enjoy this beautiful shaded park.
