SIGHTSEEING
Aberdour Castle and gardens are well worth a visit. It's a Historic Scotland Property. If you want to get a glimpse free of charge you can walk through the castle gardens. Access from Hawcraig Road directly to the village centre. Is a good shortcut from the apartment into the village.
Aberdour Castle was also a film location for "The Outlander".

WALKS & BEACHES
Silversands Beach is one of two award-winning beaches in Aberdour. It has a blue flag for outstanding water quality. There is a life guard during high season. Also a nice cafe - Sands Cafe - with nice views. On the Fife Coastal Path. If you set off from there towards Burnisland you can often see seals sunbathing on the rocks.

Black Sands
38 Shore RoadBlack Sands Beach. Lovely sheltered beach with rock pools. Views to Edinburgh
Walk East from Sands Cafe and follow the path along the coast. After just under 1.5k you will pass a lovely little waterfall. Look out for seals basking on the rocks. We have also seen dolphins from there and on one occasion even a whale!
Continue on the path and when you get to Burntisland bear right towards the town. There are quite a few nice cafes and shops. Novellis is a favourite with my family as they do really nice ice creams.
This is also a great route on bikes and ideal for children as you avoid roads.
You can continue towards Kinghorn if you fancy a longer walk and take the train back from there.
