Forréttabarinn has been one of my favorite restaurants for a number of years. It serves only appetizers (one-two are usually enough for me to get my fill. It has a friendly, funky and inimitably Icelandic style.

It is quite popular (and good) to go for the lobster soup at Seabaron - a cheap and cheerful restaurant by the harbor in downtown Reykjavik – a good spot for a quick lunch.

If you want an Icelandic hand-knitted sweaters go to the Handknitting Association of Iceland, it is on Skólavörðustígur 19, a “side” street that runs almost parallel to Laugavegur. Members of the Association knit the sweaters and accessories. Membership is by invitation only.
