The LDS temple was constructed between 1853 and 1893 using massive granite stones hauled by oxen from Little Cottonwood Canyon twenty miles away. Its architecture was inspired by European neo-gothic designs, making it a very interesting site to see against the downtown SLC skyline. Only Mormons are allowed to enter the temple itself, but religious and non-religious folks alike will appreciate the beautifully landscaped gardens and fountains on the grounds. Temple Square is a very popular sightseeing destination, and has more visitors annually than Yellowstone National Park.

Parks & Nature

Memory Grove serves as a beautifully landscaped entrance into City Creek Canyon. It's a very popular location for weddings, you're almost guaranteed to see at least one bride while you're there. Two paths begin at the Northern boundary of the park; on the East is the Freedom Trail, an off-leash dog park that winds through the woods along City Creek. On the West is a multi-use path that joggers and bikers enjoy. Look for apples July-September. We have seen beavers in the deeper areas of City Creek before, you'll often spot trees that have been chewed down. A great place for a mellow stroll.
