This little cafe located 7 miles north, serves breakfast and lunch and is closed on Sundays. It's a non-profit ministry supported by our community and it's Pay-What-You-Can. The fruit in the homemade preserves are all donated from local orchards as is much of the produce on the menu. Free advice is always a bonus from the locals that gather at the "Table of Knowledge" coffee club every morning! Be sure to try the pie...Lemon Meringue is my favorite!

The King family operates my favorite orchard/market/bakery just a couple miles outside of Central Lake. They allow you to pick your fruit and I never miss a chance to pick their strawberries in June and thier sweet cherries in July. I keep frozen sweets in my freezer all winter long for post run treats. I would recommend the Cherry Juice concentrate....there's no better summer drink than a mix of cherry juice and lemonade...and I don't have to tell you how good 🍒 juice is for your health!

Recently renovated but has been a historical landmark since the late 1800s, when it was built as a church. Later transformed to a dance hall, then bar, and most recently a restaurant and lounge usually offering entertainment and always good food.

Great brewery for food, craft beer and entertainment. The Buckingham Salad and White Pepper sandwich are favorite food items and I love the Woodmaster and Mule Beer when in season. I remember when Joe Short first opened and all his furniture was mismatched bar stools and bus seats on the floors. He knows how to make beer and he's a great success story.

Nature Trails

Glacial Hills has 30 some miles of single track trails for hiking, running, and mountain biking. Don't be intimidated...the trails are well marked and the smallest distance is a 3.7 mile Bears Den loop. The terrain is rolling and so much fun to cruise through on a mountain bike. If you didn't bring a bike...there's a little bike shop in downtown Bellaire...you can rent one!

The Jordan River is a popular destination to canoe or raft down a beautiful, quiet, river in the Jordan Valley. It's about a 20 minute drive to the outfitter and they'll hook you up with everything you need and bus you to the river. Don't rule out winter rafting which is guided tour. A lot less traffic in the winter time and no mosquitos! Book your trip online at https://fareharbor.com/jvoutfitters/items/

Beach

If you're a beach lover, you'll love the Lake Michigan beach here. It's usually pretty quiet and you can always find Petoskey stones. There's also a trail to stretch your legs, a viewing platform (or selfie station), and a kiosk with interesting history about the the first logging settlers and a very sad story of the traffic death of a young hand on the sawmill dock.

This is a quiet little park that doesn't get much traffic. Pack some charcoal briquettes and light up one of the park grills for a cookout overlooking Lake Michigan.

Sightseeing

The fish hatchery is interesting but in my opinion , the most beautiful outlook in our area is on this property. Have the guides point you in the direction of the uphill climb for the overlook. it is steep...but worth the climb...don't forget your camera!

Shopping

Bachmann's store is the heart of our village. Their motto "if we don't have it, you don't need it" has always rang true as you'll find anything you "need". The legendary penny candy counter has been in the same spot as long as I can remember, and the kids will love the selection of cool toys. Be gentle with front door...it's 150 years old!
