Blue Ridge Parkway is AMAZING. It is the single best feature of the High Country. Weather you head North towards Virginia or South towards Asheville (probably recommend Sound) you will not be disappointed. Stop at the Spruce Pine Exit we recommend that stop as well as Crabtree Falls for a nice hike. Also stop in Little Switzerland for lunch. Drive a nice day trip to Asheville around 3 hours. So much beautiful scenery to take in along the way.

This place is a must! We recommend going through the week as the weekends can get pretty crowded in the summer. Drive on into Tennessee in downtown Elizabethton for some of the best Antiquing you have ever seen.

As a Lees McRae Graduate I love Banner Elk! This is a amazing FREE thing to do for the whole day. Bring a picnic and let the kids play on the beach and swim. I love this spot!

Drink wine and sit by the creek with views of Grandfather Mountain need I say more? This is a wonderful gem of a spot. Do yourself a favor and check it out when you can enjoy just being outside. Pro Tip they do not serve food so do yourself a favor and sneak in some snacks in your pocket. I don't know that they condone it however no one has ever said anything to be as long as i was desecrate.

This place ROCKS! If you like creative caribbean eats you must try this place. They have lots of GF and DF weird diet requests too! They have a nice new patio so eating outside is highly recommended. Pro Tip even in the summer bring a jacket it gets windy. Enjoy this place, we always do!
