Parks & Nature

Great waterfalls local to the house - Mecina-Fondales is home to one, a short walk from the village. Look in the books in the house for more details. Not a far drive from the house just a bit further than Pampaneira.

Salobrena beach is a little bit more touristy but has good facilities and is a good spot for a family day out. There are some places for rock jumping close by but don't go too far out!

Its sand is both fine and coarse, while its waters are crystal-clear and tranquil, so much that scuba diving is one of the most common activities, also thanks to the fishing prohibition.

Lovely small beach, RHS of La Herradura, the main strip is a large one but there is a boulder seperating the right side, giving it a more secret feel, and a bit quieter. Great clear waters for snorkelling.

Essentials

Orgiva is the local market town, with a weekly market on Thursdays. This is about a 30 minute walk from the house over the Ridge or about a 10 min drive. Orgiva is the capital of Las Alpujarras. You will go here for groceries and there are some other little boutique shops. There are a few bars and a nightclub so Orgiva is also a good place for drinks on an evening.

Arts & Culture

Granada is home to the Alhambra, a must-see in the region. Granada is about 45 mins drive from the house and to get the best views of the Alhambra you want to go to the Albaicín, the old area of Granada. Sit on the cobbled courtyard and enjoy some food at sunset over the Alhambra.

Shopping

Market on some days of the week, read house manual for more details. Also lots of little shops selling cool clothes and there are mini supermarkets to get food supplies.

Food Scene

Playa Cabria is a beach you can drive to with an amazing chiringuito on the beachfront serving great food. We visit 'Tito Yayo' nearly every time we come to Spain and you can walk between another beach from here. There is a wooden walkway going round the rockface. The next beach is also lovely.
