There are lots of walking trails throughout our gorgeous city and ample opportunities to get outside and explore. Don't be afraid to get outside; be bear aware and smart about how your store your food if going camping. Be sure to look up safety tips for camping, hiking, and bear awareness before heading out into the wilderness.

Alaska is not known for its public transportation. You're better off renting a car or taking an Uber to the places you'd like to visit. Want to go for a bike ride? Borrow our bikes or rent one from Pablo's Bike Rental for the day, right downtown.

Anchorage has an incredible array of parks! In our neighborhood, we have a brand new park on the east end of 20th. You'll find access to the coastal trail from this park, too. We have a fun Discovery Center for kids in our gorgeous museum, Get Air and Shockwave allow kids to bounce out their energy, and so much more!

It's Alaska outside- bring it all!
Our weather can be exceptionally hot one day and cold and wet the next. You'll want to have all the clothes, just in case. You'll also need bug spray and don't forget your sunglasses! Alaska attire is very casual- don't worry about dressing up too much, we take everyone as they are no matter what establishment you're visiting.

If you're dying to see bears in the wild you may just get lucky and see one walking down the street! If you want to see them in their natural habitat, you'll need to book your tour far in advance. Make sure to book any fishing charter ahead of time, too. Tours fill up quickly!
